THE BEST PANCAKES EVER!! We made it just in time before they close at 1pm and was able to get seated right away. They do require guests to show proof of vaccination and IDs before being seated. I knew right away that we had to get their Lilikoi Pancakes as it was their special. So we ordered a stack of 3 Lilikoi Pancakes and the Home-made Corn Beef Hash to share. The food didn't take long to come out and it looked amazing! The Corn Beef Hash was great, but the real star of the show were the pancakes. First of all the pancakes were bigger than I expected and if I wasn't sharing, then a stack of 2 would be plenty for me. They were SO fluffy and still steaming when I cut into them. And then there is the Lilikoi sauce!! Omg I would choose this sauce over maple syrup any day! I keep saying that these are the best pancakes that I have ever had, even days later. We showed up at 12pm on a Saturday and we're seated almost immediately. We took a spot outside. It was comfortable in the shade. We got the muffin of the day, bread pudding, French toast with lilikoi sauce and loko moko. The muffin and bread pudding came out right away. They were so good I ate more than I planned and was almost full when the main corse came out. The portions are very generous. We could have easily settled with one thing. Been wanting to try Moke's for a while. Easy street parking with meters. On a Weds around 11 it was 3/4 full but no wait. Good selection of breakfast items like omelets and pancakes. A couple of sandwiches and salads so I'd say its more of a breakfast place. I ordered the Denver omelet, wife the corned beef hash and MIL the lilikoi pancakes. My friend and I had brunch on a Sunday morning. We came around 11 AM and there was an hour wait time. We didn't mind waiting since we walked around the area, and shopped at the boutiques close by. We came here after the Lanikai pillbox hike, and had to wait 45 mins for a table, but it was totally worth it. Breakfast portions are very hearty and will definitely fill you up. After an early hike, we decided to stop in for brekkie. I've had this place bookmarked for a while and I was happy to be finally dining here. He brought a bowl of water for our pup (super nice) as we sat outside despite noting to the front desk that we have a service animal. It was tasteless and super dry/crumbly. I thought I was going to get chunks of corned beef mixed in with other veggies and potatoes, but it was a patty. I love corned beef, but this was not it! The hostess seemed stressed and wasn't friendly when taking our name and advising of the long wait time... Not willing to wait 1 hour to eat, we ordered take-out instead. It came out in about 15 minutes. We ordered the Monte Cristo French toast sandwich with egg, ham, bacon, and generous helping of oozing melted cheese. It was delicious. Instead of the beef patty, the dish is served with steak. And wow was it amazing! Definitely recommend upgrading the white rice to fried rice. It was such a good mix with the steak and the eggs and the gravy. You get to choose how you want your eggs cooked, and it was cooked to perfection. I couldn't decide on if I wanted a sweet or savory meal, so I got both! I ordered one of their combo platters which comes with eggs, a choice of meat, and a mini stack of pancakes. The hash browns were terrible. They make them super thick to make them look good and cook fast but they aren't cooked all of the way. Very slow service and very cheap on the condiments. Solid place for breakfast in Kailua. Just like all other breakfast places in this area, the wait was over an hour. The staff is friendly; they aren't super attentive but friendly. The wait already leaves you aggravated, but the time it took the food to come out was another 10-15 minutes. The menu offers something for everyone at a very good price. The lilikoi pancakes are very sweet with a hint of tartness. The eggs Benedict seems to be very popular but not for me (not a pig poached eggs on a bread fan). The inside does need an upgrade. It has a decor of a Mexican restaurant. They also only opened half the seating with one room left as closed. They must have been short staffed or in need of new hires. But if they could get that area open & people seated quicker, I feel they would have happier customers. If you're in the area and have time to kill, I would recommend giving them a try. read more

I had just come from my monthly health maintenance body massage in the Kāneohe neighborhood and when I suggested to my husband to have brunch somewhere on the Windward side of O'ahu. I prompted him with recommendations of cups of hot local coffee, French-style omelettes, house made bread and great service as I had been reminded of Moke's after recently reading fellow Yelper Kathy A's review. He had no idea where to drive to so I just gave him directions to Moke's. I suddenly realized that my husband had never been to this popular Kailua café before. We turned onto Kīhāpai Street and immediately found metered street parking near to Moke's on Hoolai Street. Double score...the meter still had 1 hour 30 minutes time on it. It took us only a few steps to get to the entrance of Moke's when I noticed that there wasn't the familiar line out the door. Yay! I think we actually found a non-busy time but I was somewhat wrong in making that assumption because the restaurant was packed with people enjoying breakfast. Jeffery cheerfully greeted us at the check-in podium and immediately walked us to a table with menus. He had such a welcoming and happy attitude you could just tell that he was having a fun day at work. He brought us two huge coffee cups and filled them to the brim, leaving room for creamer as we requested. Jeffery told us that their lunch menu was available to order from (as it was 11:00AM) in addition to breakfast items. FOOD: -Mokapu Omelette: Portuguese sausage, mushrooms, green onions and cheddar cheese. Large chunks of sautéed mildly-spiced Portuguese sausage, sliced mushrooms and chopped green onions were rolled in the center of the French-style omelette. Melting and oozing cheddar cheese filled the nooks and crannies in the sausage filling. The omelette was light, fluffy and moist. Of particular note, my husband loved the golden brown hash browns which were crisp on its exterior and still held its fluffy grated potato texture. He really enjoyed his entire breakfast. $12.50 -Smoked Tuna (Ahi) Cheese Melt: Smoked tuna (ahi)-spread, tomato, onion and sprouts. Choice of white, wheat or rye. Now, who doesn't like a good tuna-cheese melt? Here at Moke's they bake their own breads daily and Jeffery recommended the wheat bread over the white and rye. He suggested that the wheat bread because of its light sweetness that would compliment the smoked tuna spread and that its slice is larger than the other 2 choices which means you get more tuna spread or a bigger sandwich. When I received the sandwich, it was huge and I felt like I'd have to disjoint my jaw like a snake just to take a bite into it. I had to smash it down a bit to take a bite and the flavors were like a party in my mouth. $9.95 Jeffery was very attentive while being unobtrusive. He refilled our coffee cups at least 3 times until we told him to stop because we were getting a "coffee buzz". He jokingly said told us that "the more we drink, the less it costs"... hmmm. Moke's has their own coffee blend which is roasted by Morning Brew-Kailua and brewed in small batches so every customer receives a fresh and delicious cup. While we were dining and enjoying our meals, my husband continued to rave about his great breakfast and the welcoming customer service. When a friend says "pick me up at 7:00 AM and we'll have breakfast, you choose" I really get excited. Wow, I get to drive and I get the choice of anywhere that is open at 7:00 in the morning ha ha. I went for the veggie omelet with tomatoes of the side while my friend had the corned beef hash with rice and scrambled eggs. We split an order of their notorious Lilikoi pancakes. First of all, the coffee is excellent! Jeffrey explained where they source their beans and who does the roasting. Very interesting and refills poured freely and often. I like that the omelets are prepared with the ingredients filling the inside of eggs not mixed frittata style. Nice mixture of veggies. My friend loved the corned beef which was crispy on the outside. It's made in-house and quite good. The muffin, only a quarter pictured, was awesome. Light peanut butter flavor with chocolate chips. It was almost gone before I remembered to take a picture. All the baked goods are made in their own kitchen and eggs Benedict only on the weekends because the baker reportedly doesn't like making those muffins every day. After our morning hike at pillbox my friends and I are starving!! Someone on the hike actually recommend this place to us and since it was pretty close we gave it a try. Lilikoi pancakes were so good. The pancakes themselves are nothing special but the sauce is excellent, bit tangy and sweet at the same time. I also ordered a half size of side of fried rice and it was also good, not bland but not salty. It was exactly how I want my fried rice to be. My friend seemed to enjoy his BLT sandwich as well. Always a toss up of here or Cinnamon's for breakfast after doing the Lanikai Pillbox hike. Since Cinnamon's is in town, this is usually the way to go! Waited for about 20 minutes on a Wednesday at about 11:30am. We waited almost 30 minutes to get our food, a bit longer than usual. We found metered parking on across the street. I got the Tuna Melt ($10) on whole wheat and it was really good and filling! It came with a small side salad that had this papaya vinaigrette that was tasty. My boyfriend got the Loco Moco with fried rice ($12 +$1.50). He enjoyed it and didn't even leave me a bite haha. He did say it was definitely worth the upgrade to the fried rice. We shared a side of banana pancakes with the lilikoi sauce on top (2 for $8 + $2 for lilikoi sauce). That lilikoi sauce is soooo good.... didn't have as many bananas as we expected, but the pancakes were still so fluffy and good! Beautifully presented! 2 was definitely enough and we could barely finish it we were so stuffed.
