We used to go here more often, but it's been a few years and I'm glad we made time to visit again. Prices are not too bad and the we got lucky with parking so it was nice. The service was great and the portions were filling. It doesn't have a whole lot of seating so there might be waits, but the food and welcoming service are worth it
Always a great spot for a delicious breakfast. My go to breakfast is always the corned beef hash. This is not your typical corn beef hash from a can let me tell you, the corn beef hash is made fresh daily. You can really taste the pickling spices like coriander,clove and bayleaves. Another standout is the Lilikoi Pancakes. The pancakes are light and fluffy, with this incredible liliykoi sauce, and some whipped cream. So good. Service is always impeccable. If you are a regular, I can guarantee they will remember your name and your favorite thing you like to eat. Pro tip, I would suggest either going as soon as they open or later like 10 o'clock for breakfast to avoid the crowd. This place gets really busy and parking can be a little bit tight as it is street parking only. Do not park across the street in the shopping complex or your car will get towed.
Starting off strong, we stood at the Host stand for quite a while before being acknowledged. A Server did come up to grab the Bathroom key for her table, looked at us, and walked away . Oh okay lol Then a few minutes later a lady came up to help us and but our name down on the list. She had a more pleasant demeanor. I do think I remember her from my last visit about 5 years ago. Anyway- Place is a decent size but if you have a large party, it could take a while to be sat together. They have condiment packs on the table for your use. I prefer it more than using bottles. Lilikoi pancakes were still excellent , bacon was very greasy, like instead of letting it drain, they plopped it on the plate..just blot it if it's not your thing. Corned Beef Hash was passable.. it wasn't terrible but extremely salty and too much potato mixed it.. Eggs and coffee were great. I can't say I would go out of my way to eat here BUT if you're in the area or first time visitor, I'd absolutely recommend. I must note, we did come on a Saturday morning and although it wasn't as crowded as i remembered it could be, we did wait pretty long for our food. BOH may be understaffed so be patient. Parking is street metered. Don't park across the street in the lot. They are very fast to tow.
Just had breakfast at this cute little spot in Kailua and overall had a great experience! I ordered the Corned Beef Hash with hash browns - it was good, though not mind-blowing. The main 'difficulty' was that they only had packets of ketchup and soy sauce. Could have definitely used more seasoning and honestly about three times the amount of ketchup they provided. The real standout was the lilikoi pancakes - absolutely delicious and very flavorful! My wife got the French toast and rated it an 8/10, which came with pork link sausages. We also got an extra serving of that amazing lilikoi sauce for the French toast - it's incredibly creamy and makes everything better. Service was excellent, shoutout to Crystal who took great care of us. The restaurant gets very busy so expect a wait, and parking is a real challenge since it's only metered street parking. Good luck finding a spot! Despite the minor issues, the food quality and service make this place worth the visit. The lilikoi sauce alone is reason enough to come back.
Dropped by here yesterday with a friend for breakfast before 9 am (on a Tuesday). About a 20 min wait to be seated. Parking is paid street parking. First time at the Kailua location, usually go to the one in Kaimuki. Our server, Mahina, was great! Only seemed like there were a few workers but they all were working hard tending to everyone as quickly as they could. My friend and I both had the home made corned beef hash. I ordered mine with hash browns and over medium eggs, my friend had hers with fried rice and scrambled eggs. I personally was not a fan of the corned beef hash, as I prefer it to be chunkier with pieces of meat and not like the canned kind. My fault for not asking, too. Otherwise it did have some kind of a nice herbal flavor to it. Pancake was good, had too much passion fruit sauce for my taste and was a bit too sweet, but could be because we only ordered a single pancake and the sauce to pancake ratio was off.
Moke's was so good! We decided to stop by here after hiking and it was such a good decision. The inside is pretty small, but we were extremely quick and the service was great. Our food came out relatively fast and I added bananas to the French toast, which I thought was delicious. This ham was also probably the best ham I've ever had - SO GOOD.
Small, hole- in-the-wall , mom and pop place that has some indoor and outdoor seating. Looks like a local spot and those are my favorite. Got the rib eye loco Moke and it was excellent. Also had the veggie and has brown omelet so together the dishes balanced perfectly. We cleaned our plates. Service was quick and pricing was reasonable, approx $20-$25 a person. Would recommend
I stopped by for breakfast with my group before getting started with our day and this turned out to be a great start! The french toast was delicious. I'm not usually a sweets person in the morning, but this french toast blew me away. The loco moco was pretty good as well, and I really liked the gravy.
You could miss this place if you aren't looking for it. We were quickly seated and given menus and water. It is a quaint place, but there is also outdoor seating. This was my first time here and it was worth it. My daughter got the loco moco and really enjoyed the gravy. They have the traditional loco moco and one with prime rib. She got the traditional, but with fried rice. I got the corn beef hash meal with scrambled eggs and crispy hash browns. We also ordered a lilikoi pancake. At first, I didn't know whether it was the pancake or syrup that made it so special. We soon found out and enjoyed the sweet tart taste of the lilikoi sauce. It is thick and chilled. In my opinion, eat it while the sauce is still cold. When it starts warming, you can taste the butter on the pancakes, but it is still good. This is definitely a place I will visit again and bring my grandson next time.
A bit on the pricier side for breakfast/brunch but everything was well cooked. The homemade corn beef hash was crispy on the outside and soft on the middle. The hash browns also had a great crunch. I think this was my fav or the meal! The individual portions were smaller than most breakfast places except the lilkoi pancakes which were huge!!! Definitely could've gone for the 2 pieces vs 3 since there was an ample amount for our table of 5. Overall a very enjoyable brunch! Be sure to give yourself some time as the food comes out very slowly.
This is a cute local place to grab breakfast. We tried: Loco moke Loco moco Mokapu Home style breakfast- fried rice with Portuguese sausage and scrambled eggs Everything was delicious and the portion is sizable. The staff was very nice as well which is always appreciated. Mahalo! You can parking right in front or street parking.

My husband had the corned beef hash. Bc of the delicious hash and the amazing staff I give it 4 stars. It's also a very cute and inviting spot. Otherwise I would have given 3 stars. Now the tough love. The fried rice was not what I would call fried rice. It was just rice w some flecks of other things in it. Maybe they ran out of soy?...my omelet was supposed to be egg white and a scramble but that's ok. It was tasty. Maybe our expectations were too high bc of the number of Yelp reviews. It was just so so. But like I said my husband really enjoyed the hash and the staff was super friendly and energetic. read more
I, personally, would give five stars but hubby said loco moco was "okay" and the guy across said the same. However, the lilikoi pancake and chocolate banana muffin were delicious! Coffee was bitter so pass on that. But do try their muffin of the day and lilikoi pancakes! AND go early. We got there 15 minutes before they opened and the line grew quickly. Being that loco moco is my favorite meal, I knew I had to stop by here and try their Loco Moke (pronounced mok-ee"). The loco moke is basically a traditional loco moco with a ribeye instead of a hamburger patty. Yes, you heard me! The loco moke is $17.95, which is fairly expensive for a loco moco, but worth the one time splurge since it does include a ribeye. The ribeye was fairly thin, but surprisingly tasty and my piece did not have much fat. The gravy on top was good, but I like my gravy dark, and this gravy is not that dark. The eggs were cooked to my liking (sunny up). The dish comes with regular white rice, but you can add fried rice for $1.50 more. I asked my waiter if he recommended white or fried rice with this dish, and he actually recommended white, so I went with that. The service was phenomenal. The guys at the host desk were so friendly. I sat outside on their front patio and it was perfect. Parking is metered on the street, but I was told that they aren't checked that often. I would return again and try another dish next time. In general, I liked their food, service and overall vibe. read more
This casual ambiance breakfast-lunch spot has to be on my top 5 best joints to grab a bite! Service is always friendly and quick. Be sure to get there early or wait a little because it can get busy (but it's so worth). There's not a dish here that misses! Highly recommend any of loco moco's, pancakes, or my husband's favorite: the mouth watering benedict's (crab is my fav). read more

Enjoyed a nice and relaxing early morning breakfast at Moke's in beautiful Kailua. Lots of metered street parking stalls. (Free parking on Sundays.) We checked in and put our name down on the waiting list. We were quickly (about 10-15 minutes) seated at one of the two outside tables. Our server, Jeffery wore a mask and gloves. Jeffery provided us with excellent service. Constantly keeping our coffee cups topped off and refilling our water glasses. A lot of take-out orders and Bite Squad orders in addition to the socially distanced dine in orders. Busy, so we had to wait a little, but Jeffery kept us up to date, letting us know that our order will be out soon and he kept our coffee cups full. It was worth the wait! Bacon was crispy and not greasy. The liliko'i pancake was light, fluffy and not too sweet. (A must order!) The hash browns were delicious, nicely brown on the outside and not greasy. French toast was perfect! Hands down one of the best breakfast we've had! Also they serve home-made toast (wheat, white and dark rye). How cool is that! We stopped by here for breakfast before heading to the Lokahi Market, when we arrived the wait was 30 minutes, so we decided to order take out. We were told 15-20 minutes but we got our food in exactly 30 minutes. So if you don't mind waiting that long and they are busy, order take out instead. We ordered a Ko'olau omelet with fried rice and Mickey Mouse pancakes with chocolate chips inside. The Ko'olau omelet was delicious and just how I like it. My daughter definitely enjoyed her pancake, too! I should add that the staff, mostly male we came in contact with were nice and welcoming. We will be back soon. =] read more

Breakfast at Moke's? We go! My friend and I stopped by Moke's during the week of 11/15 for a late breakfast (our first choice was take out only due to the pandemic). 1. Yes, there's parking.....street parking that is. We were fortunate enough to find a spot across the street from the restaurant. Bring coins! 2. Yes, we checked in with the hostess and made sure to social distance while waiting in line. The wait was about 20-25 minutes roughly. 3. Yes, make sure to wear a mask while waiting in line and walking thru the restaurant to your table. 4. Yes, make sure to look over the menu as there are many delicious breakfast dishes to choose from. In the end, I chose the loco moco and my friend ordered the mokapu omelet. The food was worth the wait in my humble opinion. We loved the food! Great breakfast fare for sure. I appreciated that there was a decent amount of gravy served with my dish (I like lots of gravy if I order a loco moco). 5. Yes, the service was terrific!! The staff, especially our server, were very friendly, patient, and polite. I appreciated that our server recognized an error he made on our bill and corrected the amount before running my card (I honestly didn't notice the mistake, and I'm thankful he did!). NOTES: 1. I subbed fried rice for the traditional white rice for my loco moco. Extra $1.50 to upgrade to fried rice. COVID PRECAUTIONS: 1. Masks required to enter the restaurant. 2. Always ready to try something different and support the local places. Today was Moke's in Kailua. A local business trying to stay a float in this crazy times. There was a long line but the wait wasn't too bad, maybe 20 minutes. We waited longer for our food (30 minutes). I figured they had to wait for the chicken to lay her eggs and kill the cow for the meat. LOL at least I had time to talk story with my wife. I started with my usual black coffee and my wife had a passion fruit juice. We also ordered their Honey butter biscuits. These biscuits were da bomb! Buttery but not too much where it's soaked, we loved them. Then came the wait for the food which made us more hungry. LOL She ordered the Sunrise Special with Lilikoi pancakes that came with eggs and bacon. She loves her bacon crispy. Pancake was kinda cold Egg was over hard, she ordered over medium. She said it was OK. I ordered Loco Moke's, which is a Loco Moco but with Ribeye steak. I asked for fried rice which was a good choice. The steak was tender but I was hoping for a little bit more flavor or seasoning to it. Street parking only and DO NOT park in the lot across the street or aloha o'i to your car, it'll be towed. I for got our waiter's name but he was awesome! Super friendly, helpful and threw in a few side jokes. Love it! Support the local businesses!! read more

Update - 6/3/21 Chili loco moco - 5/5 This is one of my favorite breakfast dishes. The burger Patty is a very decent size, and lightly seasoned. The Chili was poured on top the burger Patty sitting on top a bed of rice followed by two eggs Sunny side up with brown gravy poured all over. The chili was tasty with a little heat. This combination is Winnahs! Moke's French Bread - 5/5 My wife told me Moke's French bread was one of the best she tasted. We're told by our server that it's made from Moke's own home made sweet bread. I tasted her French toast and it was outstanding. A must order if you visit Moke's for breakfast. Lilikoi pancakes - 5/5 Moke's is famous for their lilikoi pancakes. The pancake was delicious, light, not heavy. The lilikoi syrup was sweet but not overly sweet. The lilikoi flavor was evident with nice balance and not overly robust. A must order when visiting Moke's. The service was good and the wait time is long as usual. I highly recommend visiting Moke's when in Kailua. read more

Luck is on your side if you didn't have a wait! Waited 40 minutes. Went up the street to Chadlou's for delicious coffee while we waited and that helped a lot! table for 4 - ordered corned beef hash, and eggs, Banana pancakes, Portuguese omelet, Sunrise Breakfast #2 with biscuits. You really can't go wrong with breakfast here. the only drawback is the wait time. Every table is well spaced out and masks are enforced. Less tables longer the wait. That's just the way it is. We've always enjoyed our breakfasts here and will return again for the same order! read more

Love this cute place for brunch. Their foods are amazing! The beef moco is fresh and yummy. French toast isn't too sweet. And they are both perfect portioned. They allow dogs and even offer our puppy a bowl of water which is very sweet of them. The staff is very nice and friendly. The outside seatings are nice.They were patient even when our dog barks. We had a great time and I definitely would like to return. read more

Listen.... the best thing I found was the wait time. This AINT fast food!!!! This is made as you order. So if you the hungry type... go somewhere else, K!?. The ambiance is delightful. Noise level moderate from the conversations nearby. You can tell this spot is a local favorite. Definitely a place to ENJOY your meal and table mates. TIP: ORDER THE FRENCH TOAST.The French toast is bananas. It's so good even with NO SYRUP. read more

Looking for a breakfast place in the area on a Sunday afternoon that didn't have a crazy line. Happened upon this restaurant that had both indoor and outdoor seating, yet still has a 20 minute wait until a table opened up for the yep off us. Seems like the popular option here are the pancakes, but didn't really have the room. Instead, decided on the Mokopu Omelette ($14) with hash browns. Eggs are fluffy and stuffed with sausage, mushrooms, onions, and lots of cheddar cheese. The saltiness of the meat helps balance out the eggs, but needed a good amount of hot sauce for more flavor. Hash browns were the best part of the dish, not too oily and a crunchy layer on top for a different texture. Considering the crowd, food did take some time to arrive, though we weren't really in a rush. Probably better to get the pancakes and/or loco moco. read more
I was excited to try local Loco Moco, and read this place offered some of the best. I went for a bit of a twist, and ordered the Loco Moke and was glad I did. The steak was tender and juicy, cutting easily with a knife they provided. This mixed with the yoke of the over-easy eggs and the brown gravy, and the essence of the whole thing was absorbed by the rice. It was the perfect thing after waking up hungry, running a few miles, and then driving 20 minutes the establishment. My gf had to French toast with added banana, which was light with subtle cinnamon. She did not share her bacon (which is telling), but said it was perfectly crispy. Both her and my dishes went nicely with the house blend coffee, a mellow and smooth morning-starter. I bought a bag for my mom for Christmas. And the service was great! Fast and friendly and just generally lovely to be around. read more
I love their Lilikoi (passion fruit) pancakes, really yummy and creamy sauce on a perfect pancake. The Loco Moco is also good and we enjoyed the Veggie Omelet. I come for the pancakes, but I also need something savory. Very nice staff! read more
I had to drive my son out to Kailua for an early morning doctor's appointment, so my son's girlfriend and I were stuck with some free time on our hands. We looked up some breakfast places on Yelp (of course!) and decided to go to Moke's. This is a little hole in the wall restaurant, and there is metered street parking available, so remember to bring your quarters. We parked and went inside. We were the only people seated in this rather small restaurant, but within 20 minutes, the whole place was filled, including the outside seating. This was such a pleasant surprise for us - the prices were extremely reasonable and there was a good selection of food, including breakfast plates, omelettes, loco moco, and eggs benedict. My dining companion chose a breakfast plate that included banana pancakes, bacon, and 2 eggs, and I chose my favorite, Florentine Eggs Benedict. Banana pancakes were light and fluffy with fresh banana slices on top, the bacon was nice and crispy, the eggs were cooked perfectly over easy. My eggs Benedict came out with the usual delicious spinach, but they also added a tomato slice which I enjoyed very much. The perfect amount of Hollandaise covered my eggs, and the English muffins were still crispy and not at all soggy. Just the way I like them, with not too much salt. It came with a side of hashbrowns which I gave to my dining companion. I really wanted to eat them but I'm not allowed to eat potatoes *sobs*. Our server was very attentive and refilled my coffee several times. We enjoyed our breakfast immensely and highly recommend Moke's for the excellent food and good prices. read more
This place has super friendly staff and has a wonderful ambience. We went with a big group and enjoyed our meals! I loved everything I had (only got one pic before we started devouring the food) and you would have to pay for parking to go here. The reservation online was a little complicated so it would be best to walk in if you have the time. Here are the foods I tried around the table: Loco Moke (5/5): The most unique loco moco I have had by far. It was fairly priced considering they use a ribeye steak instead of a hamburger patty. I thought it was the bomb dot com. Lilikoi pancakes (3/5): I think the lilikoi sauce was really good, but the pancakes were not as fluffy as I like. I would have tried to buy the sauce if that was an option. Portion size was good too, the pancakes were big! The average came out to 4 stars! Honestly I really liked my food (see pic) I would def recommend any meat lovers to get the loco moke from here! read more

Street parking only, wait wasn't too long was seated pretty quickly. Was excited to try the lilikoi pancakes and to be honest it was just ok. I think because we anticipated that it would be similar to the guava chiffon pancakes from Cinnamons, our hopes were pretty high. The sauce for the pancake was very light and had a good texture but was too tart, needed just a dash more sweetness to balance it out. I their best dish was hands down the corned beef hash patty. Steak was cooked perfectly to medium but gravy was just standard. The most disappointing thing was definitely the biscuit, it was dry. The best thing about this place was our server. Attentive and funny, didn't hover over us while we were eating but checked up on us to give us water and had the check ready when he could see we were done eating. I would come back here again if someone else wanted to try it. read more

(NEW YORKER'S TASTEBUDS) We ordered the Liliko'i Pancakes and the Loco Mokè! Man, this place is onto something with their pancakes. The Liliko'i sauce was just perfectly flavored and balanced between tangy and sweet; just enough to make you not feel too heavy (e.g. how the thickness of how traditional pancake syrup does). Definitely my most favorite breakfast item of our trip! My wife ordered the Loco Moké and their sauce is great! It wasn't like the traditional Loco Moco with a hamburger patty and mushrooms...it comes with a Rib Eye! Great if you wanna try something different. It was a little hot in the restaurant, but y'all here for the food reviews! GET IT! read more

Great spot for brunch. Had the special with pancakes, two eggs and Portuguese sausage. I believe it was around $10.50 or so. There is limited seating outside in front but plenty of seating indoors. Set across from a strip mall, parking is limited to metered street parking. Apparently if you park across the street in the lot you run a risk of being towed. You can substitute Lilikoi pancakes for about $2 more, which I highly recommend. The pancakes are light and fluffy, and the tangy Lilikoi (passionfruit) sauce is not too overly sweet. Service is efficient and friendly and they also speak Japanese here! Apparently after 1:00 pm the place is filled with Japanese tourists. read more
Exceptional local cuisine that takes the concept of breakfast and brunch to the next level! My friend recommended this place and I'm so glad I took her advice! I normally stay away from Kailua restaurants because of previous (if not endemic) less than superlative experiences concerning unfulfilled hype, lines, wait times, and customer service....however, Moke's broke not only the mold but also the mouth...(what was that? Not funny so stop the puns? Ok, got it... kala mai)... Three things you must keep in mind here... 1) it's an absolutely exceptional place and it's in Kailua so make reservations or resign to wait a bit (not as bad as other nearby breakfast places). 2) the coffee is beyond description... according to my server Shawn (who was world class awesome!!!! Mahalo Shawn!!!!) it's a special blend of Kona, Maui, and North Short beans, roasted right there in Kailua. It's a must try. In fact it's so good, I could drink it for "dessert"! 3) the lilikoi pancakes are iconic but I'd direct you to their even more appropriate signature dish of Loko Moke' .... essentially loco moko but made with hand cut ribeye instead of hamburger. Service, quality, ambiance, cuisine.... absolutely top rung on the favorites ladder... oh and the restroom is spotless! I love this place! The pancakes were amazing, the atmosphere is calming and clean, and the food presentation is above average. However, the eggs were slightly undercooked and they need more servers. Other than that I really enjoyed mokes and will come again. read more

We showed up at 12pm on a Saturday and we're seated almost immediately. We took a spot outside. It was comfortable in the shade. We got the muffin of the day, bread pudding, French toast with lilikoi sauce and loko moko. The muffin and bread pudding came out right away. They were so good I ate more than I planned and was almost full when the main corse came out. The portions are very generous. We could have easily settled with one thing. We went home with plenty of left overs. Nice place, people, and food. read more
Yummy portions and home style breakfast for the win! I came here with a friend for Saturday brunch and waited approximately 30 min for a table. Street parking is best. Service was friendly and fast. I primarily came to try the Lilikoi pancakes and they did not disappoint! Best for sharing in my opinion, as my friend and I both ordered our own entrees as well. I got the corned beef hash which was flavorful and fresh. Tables spaced apart nicely and there is indoor/outdoor seating! Lovely place to meet with friends. I would definitely recommend! read more
My wife and I went to Kailua seeking a delicious breakfast. We had originally decided to go to Hawaiian Island Cafe, but we found it.... closed. OK no problem, the next on the list is Moke's Bread and Breakfast! We found it easily but the first hurdle was intimidating.... NO PARKING! After going round and round, we finally parked far away and did the walk to Moke's. We found a nice line and people sitting out in front. It was a hot day but there were several seats with enough shade to keep us cool. We put our name in and was told it would take 30 minutes. No problem... So for 30 minutes, we were able to check out Yelp and find out that there's avocado toast across the street and right around the corner is delicious looking frittata at the local coffee place. I considered going to those places but decided to wait since the reviews were so good! Finally, right after 30 minutes our name was called. At that point, a lot of people had left and the place didn't look so busy - or so we thought..... Service was really good and they happily took our orders and brought us coffee and water and was quick on their refills. I had been told their corned beef was really good and I am a corned beef FAN! Here's what I like about corned beef.... a nice crust, great taste, nice texture on the potatoes, while still being tender inside. Here's what I like when a place makes scrambled eggs - they need to be soft and tender and not dried out. Here's what I like about hash browns, nice crust, good potato taste, and seasoned well. I have to say I got none of this... It's really sad because it's one of the few times Yelp has been totally wrong. First, the place is warm.... like really warm. There are overhead fans but even with the breeze that comes in, it's warm. It's like being in someone's house without AC with just a fan. Then wait began.... 30 minutes later (actually 29) our food came out. Our wait in the stifling warm heat even made a happy child unhappy next to us. One can only stand so much warmth. Once our food came out, it looked good! I asked my wife to taste the corned beef and she said it was salty. Well I like salt so maybe it wasn't that bad. Unfortunately it was. Salty, mushy, no good crust, no texture, all the opposite of what I like with corned beef. How about the eggs? Dried out, tough/rubbery, not good. The hash browns had a nice crust, but had absolutely no seasoning and you could really taste the oil. The french bread was decent and was the best thing about the plate. I also ordered the lilikoi pancake and it was ok. Not bad but after a few bites it was sickeningly sweet and tangy at the same time. I couldn't finish any of it and I usually finish everything. After waiting one hour, I just couldn't finish what I was served. The service is really good, but that cannot offset the wait, the lack of parking and the food itself. I really wanted to like this place but no.... the food was not good. One positive I found was that they actually have 2 bathrooms on the back - you just can't see the other one unless you turn the corner. After eating here - I really wanted to check out the two other places close by. Both of which didn't seem to have one hour wait times. read more

Fellow visitors- this may single handedly be the reason to return back to Oahu. It's not easy for someone like myself to enjoy breakfast, and let me tell you- until I return, I will never enjoy breakfast again... BECAUSE IT'S NOT THE CHILI MOCO AND #1 SUNRISE BREAKFAST W/ LILIKOI PANCAKES FROM MOKES. Take it from the anti-breakfast pioneer, you will be left with happiness, a party in your mouth, extreme giggles and a ratatouille moment. Aloha! Kailua location does not, they operate first come and first served. Kaimukī location accepts lunch reservations based on availability and starting at 11am
Is there dine in?
