I'll attempt to explain why I'm giving Molina Ranch two stars and my waiter a 15% tip. Yes, I can be harsh to a Hialeah restaurant! Like most folks in the Republic of Hialeah, I heard about how this place is better than the better known Cuban spots and our abuelas' kitchens. Based on my experience this afternoon, I have to disagree. For starters, I was served only two rolls (not even Cuban bread, so minus one for authenticity.) Most Cuban restaurants' baby Churrasco is large enough to not have me hungry two hours later. Yet, although my baby churrasco was tasty and the chimichurri had a nice kick to it, "tengo hambre" as I'm writing this. The sweet plantains were ripe and sweet, and the moros were a little on the dry side and small on the portion. Even the creme Brulee was unspectacular, as the crust wasn't crispy how I like it. When in Hialeah what else to choose but Cuban food. Dining with 3 people who grew up in the area, I was told that this place has been a staple in Hialeah for decades. Came in on a Saturday night and found it busy but very spacious, so being seated was not a problem, the dining room is old school with all the waiters in waistcoats and a general feel of the 80's. Our waiter was very friendly, polite and had no problem switching between English and Spanish as he took our orders. The table was constantly cleared, used dishes removed and drinks and water were topped up regularly. We had been told by a friend about the shrimp stuffed plantains and went with an order as an appetizer. They arrived to the table looking fabulous and tasty although I would call them shrimp stuffed tostones rather than plantains. The shrimp could've been bigger but the creole like sauce was great and went well with the fried tostones. Now whenever I come across lamb on a menu of any kind, I find it hard to turn down. Molina's offered a lamb shank served with moros rice and tostones. Living in Miami and being fairly familiar with Cuban dishes, I figured it would be served with a nice savory sauce and would probably be extremely tasty. Thankfully my prediction was right and my lamb came out looking fantastic, and tasting just as good as I'd imagined. The meat was very tender and easy to pull off the bone; and the sauce, garnished with a few peppers and peas, was full of flavor and perfect to drizzle over my rice. A variety of other dishes at the table looked just as tasty and all left extremely satisfied and some with to go boxes. Overall the meal was great, the staff were friendly and the price was very very reasonable. Our table of 5 ended up being just slightly over $100. read more

Went here on Christmas Eve to pickup a previously scheduled order of pork, congri and yucca. It was a huge disappointment. Everything tasted like old grease. I had asked the person who fulfilled my order if the yucca had mojo and said of course, but it was plain, without any mojo, garlic or onions. It had no citric. Everything tasted the same. I don't know what's worse the food or the service. We had to wait over two hours to get our order although we were given a specific time for pick up. The people that were late were the ones who got their orders first because they were over two hours late. Horrible food and super expensive. read more

This is my second time here for a business lunch. So when you come to Hialeah and want Cuban food this is the place. First off the service is excellent we were directed to a booth when we arrived and immediately placed our drink orders. I had water as did my colleague and the other person in my party a Coke. They bring out a basket of Cuban rolls and butter. I cannot resist and they are delicious. For my main course I have the shrimp in a tomato based sauce served with white rice and plantains. There is no way you leave this place hungry or able to eat again that day. My colleague has the shredded beef with white rice and plantains as well. We skip dessert as we walk out like we just ate lead Probably my system is in carb fest overload and needs to process or take a siesta ie nap. read more

This place is a classic in Hialeah. The food is amazing . The service is good. Palomilla steak is a must with the moros.

Went there for the special of the day...oxtail. This is one of the better ones I've tried in Miami but just a tiny bit on the greasy side which is a deal breaker for me and the reason why I have a few faves elsewhere. Other than that, the maduros(sweet fried plantains) are home made which is awesome because a lot of Cuban places opt for the frozen one and it's not the same. Molina's is in the heart of East Hialeah. I came here for a family dinner and automatically knew I would have a difficult time ordering a rather healthy meal. This restaurant has a bit of an identity crisis. It is a Cuban restaurant but there is Italian art work on the walls. And I'm not just saying it's a artwork by an Italian artist. No, these are paintings of men eating pasta. Very bizarre. The music selection was also very misplaced. Throughout the night the music of choice was 80s rock music with classics like Pour Some Sugar on Me and Welcome to the Jungle blasting through the sound system. Again, very bizarre. The food was decent. I ordered grilled chicken breast, black bean soup, and steamed veggies. The chicken was good and the garlic mojo sauce may it better. The black bean soup was good but not great. Surprisingly, the steamed veggies were my favorite! They were definitely fresh and not frozen. Portions are extremely generous and everyone in my party who was not watching their figure enjoyed their respective dishes. Overall this is a solid Cuban restaurant albeit with an odd feng shui. read more

Fake Cubans like Versailles. Real Cubans love Molina's. I have been coming to Molina's for well over 20 years, before they moved to this nice large location. Both of my parents come from opposite parts of Cuba - Santiago and La Habana, and they both agree Molina's is and will always by far be the best Cuban restaurant in Miami, FL. My parents make the drive from Kendall to eat here. Here are your absolute musts: Mariquitas drenched in the little mojo sauce that comes on the side. Ask for more of that little mojo and add it to the 64: tronchos de pescado, fresh lightly fried but not at all greasy, white fish. Or if you're in the mood for a steak, I'd go with the 38... or if you want something saucy, go with the rabo encendido, and lastly, if you want, vaca frita, that's awesome too. You get two sides with each meal. One of them MUST be the Moros. These are delicious "mixed rice and beans" and come with the best ever diced chicharron on top. Tostones aren't going to be amazing but choose your other side at your leisure. What Cuban restaurant makes delicious crispy tostones anyway? None. You'll have to pay probably 2.99 for it, but if in season, definitely get some avocado slices. Those will go great with the Moros. I'm not big on Cuban desserts but the Cuban coffee here is delicious with the perfect espumita. Perfect end to the best Cuban meal in all of Miami. Go enjoy the Leah's finest treasure. read more

We visited Molina's for a family lunch on a Wednesday afternoon. They had a decent amount of clientele but nothing crazy, there were certainly enough staff to assist everyone. Our server provided us with water almost immediately, but a member of our party needed his order quickly to get back to work. This is where our problems started. He got his food within 10 minutes but after this we rarely saw our server. To give perspective: we arrived at noon and my husband and I left at 1:40pm. That was when everyone's food finally arrived to them. It took almost 2 hours to order and receive our food, that's saying nothing of receiving the tab. That being said, the food was superb. Seriously some of the best Moro's we've ever had and that's saying something (particularly in Hialeah). We ordered friend fish, chicken vaca frita, malanga fritters, and pollo a la plancha. It was really great Cuban food. Ultimately the food is worth a visit but be prepared for some of the worst service you'll experience in the city. read more

Unequivocally the best Cuban cuisine restaurant in all of Hialeah. The place started off as a small eatery with approximately 15 tables to a now behemoth two story building just across the street from where they began. They obviously outgrew their original location due to the excellent and reasonably priced portions. I've eaten pretty much everything in their menu but their MVP dishes are the Vaca Frita, Churrasco, lechón asado and the Cuban sandwich. Every meal comes with either white rice and black beans or Moro in addition to maduros,tostones or yuca con mojo. One item That deserves special praise is their Caldo Gallego which is offered daily. The restaurant is spacious and the food comes out promptly. A charming addition is the mostly elderly male wait staff that almost always have a colorful story to tell. read more

I haven't been here in years ! The food is traditional Cuban food. The servings are huge! We started with mariquitas with a super garlic lime sauce! So Delish. I had the roasted pork (lechon) with black beans yucca and rice. $13. For a plate big enough for 2! The seasoning was spot on. We also ordered avocado salad to accompany the meal. They also bring warm Cuban rolls ! Amazing! My fam each had a churrasco steak, Moros and platanos. They said it was delicious. For dessert we had a flan and flan with coconut and a cortadito(Cuban coffee with small amt of milk )the meal was fantastic and the service was wonderful. If you don't understand Spanish you may have some trouble communicating but it's worth the try! read more

So I haven't updated my review of this restaurant in some time. I found myself in Hialeah doing a lot of shopping and visiting friends of family and my mother and I were hungry after hours of it. I wanted a good hearty meal and came to Molina's. Before my move to Homestead this was one of my go to restaurants. Although I mostly loved it for their great Cuban breakfast (which I recommend) this doesn't mean they don't make delicious food for Lunch or Dinner. So it was about 1 pm and I wanted some good Cuban food. I was greeted as I entered and quickly taken to a table, the restaurant was actually almost full on the Friday mid afternoon while I was there. We were quickly brought some delicious Cuban style rolls with butter while my mother and I looked at our menu. Love Cuban bread... we ate them quickly and voraciously and asked for some more. My mother ordered a hearty bowl of Caldo Gallego Soup... she loved it. I got a Cuban steak sandwich... delicious palomilla steak in between two slides of Cuban bread and of course lots of julienne fries.... mmmmm mmmmmm mmmmmmmm.... I ate every last bite. What did I drink? the most Cuban non coffee, non alcoholic drink there is... a Malta.... not sure if I recommend it for my non Cuban Yelp friends as the taste is something only someone from my culture would love... and I love it and of course they had it from my favorite brand... Hatuey! Then of course we finished the meal with some Cuban coffee.... yes! I would like to note from experience that Molina's is one of the best places in Hialeah to have Cuban coffee just FYI. 5 stars for food and service! Decided to stop by this restaurant for lunch on Saturday. We were greeted (well, she didn't really greet us...) by the hostess - not very professional, very confusing but we got to the table. The table had some crumbles on it, and the seat was dirty - something sticky - but I cleaned it up with a napkin. We were really hungry and didn't want to look for another place and decided to let it go. I'm glad we did! In a second we got water and Cuban rolls with butter. The server showed up in a couple of minutes and he was super nice and helpful. I got the lobster and shrimp in red sauce with rice and plantain (number 67 in the menu), my husband had the chicken soup and also the chicken steak with rice, beans and plantain. The food was wonderful- so delicious! I recommend getting the lobster with shrimp. The food arrived quickly. I also tried the Cuban beer recommended by the server and my husband had a beer too. At the end we got the delicious Cuban coffee. I'd say the prices are higher than average considering that this was lunch. We paid $99 for everything but 15% tip was included. Overall, I loved the place and will definitely come back when I'm in the area. read more

The food here is always fresh and brought out quickly. My favorite thing to order here is the palomilla steak and white rice. Very flavourful. Today I had their fresh squeezed Lemonade as well. We were here on a work luncheon with no Spanish speakers in our group and thsy posed a bit of a problem for some while ordering as our waiter spoke limited English. I don't know if this is "authentic" Cuban food or not, but since it's in Hialeah FL, I'm thinking it is. It doesn't matter though, because it's excellent food. Period. I had the Vaca Frita and it was tender, tasty, and portion size was sufficient. The Moros with sweet plantains were so tasty that I won't look at rice and beans the same ever again. I've always found them tasteless and boring, but this would've been great as simply a vegetarian entree. We had sangria, which was okay, and Cuban coffee that was phenomenal (but sticky sweet). Unfortunately I'll have to keep waiting. 10 minutes after being seated we let the hostess know that no waiter had come to our table. We waited for another 5 minutes and still no waiter. Molina's restaurant has been in Hialeah for years I must say possibly over 20 plus years. I remember going as a child and having dinner with my parents at the old location across the street from their current one. The place remains the same. I use to also go with my cousin and always split a plate because it would be a lot of food for us. I went in last Friday to celebrate a birthday. I ordered the vaca frita with more rice and fried plantains. The food was good but not great. My fiance ordered shrimp in a red sauce with rice. He actually threw up all the food once he got home. Which thank God for that if not he would have probably gotten intoxicated by the seafood. I will say that their plantain chips with garlic oil sauce were really good. At one point, Molina's was thee Cuban restaurant. The lines outside would be as long as the food was delicious. The restaurant would almost burst at the seems on the weekends. The space was small and you might be uncomfortably close to the table next to you. All that didn't matter 'cause you knew that you would be getting great Cuban food, exceptional service and at a fair price. And then they built themselves a huge new restaurant across the street And it has been mediocre ever since The food has seemed to have lost its soul. The old kitchen must have had some built in flavor enhancer that only comes from thousand of bistecs and onions and platanos and not being cleaned 100%. The food here is amazing and absolutely fresh. I had Churrasco, white rice, with an egg with it. Let's not forget the croquettes that came out also. The staff does joke around and remembers its usual customers as I watched them interact with people. I love coming here. The only thing I would tell you is, they dont necessary get you in and out.
