After many disappointing restaurant experiences in Florida that ended up in inflammation flare ups (I have MS and my body is severely reactive to many foods that result in pain) because the serving staff and chefs ignored my requests, Tubbys was AMAZING at respevting and accommodating my health issues. We got there mid afternoon so it was very quiet. Beautifully laid out inside. Great seating. We didn't order any alcohol, but the food was delicious and decently priced. My husband ordered the shrimp and grits and essentially licked the bowl clean lol. He also got the spuds and said they were delicious. Basically thinly sliced beer battered potatoes with a spicy honey mustard sauce. We wanted to get the bacon wrapped scallops but sadly, they were out of those so we didn't have an appetizer because I couldn't eat any of the others. The standout testimony to their service, was that I ordered the Shrimp Basket which usually comes fried, but our server Anthony, was awesome, listening to the food restrictions that I had and he worked with us and the kitchen. I was able to get the shrimp grilled in a separate pan so that there was no cross-contamination. They came out perfectly no seasoning and bland by southern standards but it was PERFECT for me) and I had no issues with it at all. My fries were also done without any seasoning so again, perfect . I truly appreciated them working with my medical restrictions and so did my body! It's very difficult to travel with dietary restrictions, and often embarrassing be ause before I developed MS I could eat anything (and did!) without issue. Often, servers are a bit argumentative or even combatitive with the requests which are usually just no seasoning and in a desperate pan. Anthony was the exact opposite. Very laid back, friendly and he joked that I was a bit of a trick problem but he got me (in terms of having to cut out the seasonings) which made me laugh because he normalized my restrictions, not making me self conscious at all for the fact that my body is difficult. He should be held up as a gold standard to other employees in resturants throughout the country. I also had the key lime pie and oh dear my.... AMAZING. I wish I had gotten a second piece to go! Overall, it was the first five star experience that we have had in our nine days of traveling and three other times at Florida restaurants. Our server, Nette, was fantastic throughout the meal, friendly, attentive, and consistently checking on us to make sure we had everything we needed. The atmosphere was not quite what we expected. Rather than a traditional Low Country seafood feel, it had more of an urban club vibe. Not necessarily a bad thing, just different from what we anticipated. For appetizers, we ordered the Fried Okra and Calamari, and both arrived piping hot and fresh. The calamari was especially impressive and came with a sweet Thai dipping sauce that was rich, flavorful, and absolutely delicious. The food overall was fresh, hot, and packed with flavor. I ordered the Fried Fish & Shrimp but also wanted fried oysters. Unfortunately, there wasn't an option to build a seafood combo, so I ended up purchasing two separate entrées. It would be great if Top Crab offered a "pick 2 or 3 seafood items" combo like many other seafood restaurants. Matt ordered the Seafood Boil (Combo A, Medium Heat), and it was easily the star of the evening. The seasoning was spot-on, the seafood was cooked perfectly, and the portion size was generous enough that he had leftovers to take home. The shrimp were juicy and flavorful, and the seasoning had just the right amount of kick. The crab legs were decent but didn't have as much meat as he had expected. Overall, if you're looking for a quick meal and good seafood in the Savannah area, Top Crab is definitely worth a visit. Great service from Nette, flavorful food, and several menu items that would bring us back again. While there are a few things that could be improved, we enjoyed our experience and will likely return in the future.
