This is a hideaway place where you go to get away from your main spots or you live nearby and made it your regular spot. They don't make mixed drinks very well unless its something easy. There is not a lot of beer options either, mostly your main stream stuff. You can easily walk past this place and not even know its there. It looks and feels old. Its small. You could call it a dive bar but some may not agree to that. Kind of like a start or end type place, not a destination. You feel like going out but don't want to make an effort getting ready kind of place. Its ok, always been ok. read more

I arrived here for an after work get together and boy it was a drab. The place is dark and gives off an errie feeling. Oh well, since I came to have a few beers I just continued with my gathering. The service was good but it didn't seem like there was a happy hour going on, unless I missed it LOL. The bar is in the corner of a shopping center which can be easily missed. There is a smell of cigarette smoke and mold as soon as you walk in. I felt like I needed a mask with a straw just to drink something. The restrooms were also very cramped. Great little neighborhood bar with very nice bartenders. There definitely is a group of regulars who call this dive bar home :) Have only been here a handful of times. The staff, as well as, the customers have always been very nice and sociable. There is a 2-man band called JustUs that play here pretty regularly. You should try to catch them sometime on a Friday night. Otherwise, there is a jukebox that everyone takes care of ;) I don't think there is much of a food menu aside from microwaved pizzas. I've never personally tried to eat here but I saw a few pizzas at surrounding tables. read more

It's not a scenester kind of place, and I would stick to bar standards (and perhaps beer). However, darts! Lots of well-maintained darts and boards await you (no wobbly boards evened out with coasters or fletches that keep falling off), and unlike many other places in Houston, people won't constantly cross your path to get another drink. I have driven past this sign that reads "Molly's Pub - Irish Sports Bar" on Westheimer 100 times. Why do I drive past it? Because it's on the way to one of the other local watering holes I frequent, Fox and Hound. Oddly enough, last Sunday, I decided to get out of the routine of Fox and Hound and try something new, something different. I walked into Molly's and let out a little chuckle (that's right, a chuckle) because I instantly knew I was going to love this bar. Small, dark and full of regulars, Molly's Pub is the bar that is great with friends or solo. The drinks aren't too expensive and all of the patrons are nice and outgoing. If you find yourself in the area, pop in and have a beer. You won't be disappointed. read more

We happened into this place accidentally when we couldn't get into the bar we wanted because of some big sporting event everyone was there to see on PPV. I am so happy our plans got changed! We were finishing up a birthday celebration and just wanted a shot or two for the birthday girl and some beers. We ended up playing steel tip darts for a couple hours and having the barkeep make us some of the best birthday cake shots ever! She never charged our designated driver for her sodas...always nice. The place is one of those throw back pub places. They seem to have a middle aged guy clientele who are all on a first name basis with the bartenders. All sat at the bar and greeted each other as if they all knew each other. They welcomed us warmly. Always nice when you're invading a guy space with a group of 8 women all celebrating a birthday! They know how to make a good drink and the black and tans were perfect! A pretty decent pub beer selection for such a small place too. They serve bar food like frozen pizzas but I've never eaten there as it's usually after dinner that we stop in. Smoking is allowed outside on the patio. They have a great retro jukebox selection and the guys didn't mind us playing several and singing along. It's close to my house and I've been back to toss some darts a couple times and plan to keep heading back in when I need a taste of friendliness and a black and tan. read more

I used to frequent the league city location in my younger days, so when I moved to west houston, I had to try this location to see how it was. I've been a couple of times now, but this one is much smaller, and definitely has an older crowd. Like as in early 40s to late 50s on the nights I went. I ordered a couple of beers both times and even though they have my favorite beer, this location just isn't my cup of tea. read more

My dad has been going to this place back when it used to be called The West crest Pub. I've been here on multiple occasions & you will not find a friendlier bunch of people. Sorry guys we will not be back here. Interior smelled like sewage had overflowed and outside patio was a cloud of cigarette smoke. Music was loud and brash. On the plus side was 2 great dart boards and lots of beer on tap served in mega glasses. I guess if drinking beer and shooting darts is your thing, go for it. Want a snack with your drink? Not here. Best they have is frozen pizzas. Not only is it the best, it is all they have. Bring your own snacks. I was wondering why no crowd on Friday at 6 pm. I don't usually do this as I feel like people can make up their own mind and not judge something through the colored lenses of someone else's experience. I'll make an exception for this place. To be fair I have only attended this gem on 4 evenings inter-spaced by over 1 year. This first and foremost in a local regulars' bar. The people here are diverse, they an eclectic mix of view points, style and accents. A beautiful mishmash of humanity snugged up in a little nook corner in the middle of an non descript strip mall. A person could pass it up without noticing it, and may pass it by without even a second thought. If you are looking for flashy, ornate, substance-less, brash surroundings this is not your place. Molly's appeal lies not necessarily in her physical form, a bar, some tables and chairs, an outside smoking and sitting area, but in the faces and the stories, the friendship and camaraderie that the regulars seem to have in abundance. American, Canadian, Scot, Thai, Filipino, English, Irish, German you name it, it was there. The regulars jokingly call Molly's Pub the "little UN". These folks are open, inviting and inquisitive. They offer their own stories and ideas as they sip on cold beer or decent liquor. Smiling and talking like in any decent place. I could see these same discussions happening over a table at dinner as they go on about their days. The amazing part, the part that makes this place so different from other bars we've gone is they remember faces and names separated by time and distance. A return here is more of a home coming and glasses are raised to your return and to your health. I walked in to Molly's the first time on a cold Friday evening , returned the next night. Cold beer, good times. A year later almost to the day and I walked through the door the bartenders remember faces and name and the 'Little UN's" regulars smile broadly and welcome us back with open arms and updates on stories left from a year ago. Molly's pub is just that a pub in the truest sense. Local and open. Simple choices as far as the beer. Some micros, mostly the regular fair for a bar. Their liquor has some decent choices for mid range drinkers. You won't find a million options nor truly high end alcohol but if you wanted Johnny Walker Blue you wouldn't have chosen this place. Molly does an honest run at what a pub should be, a little dark, a little dirty, a little musty, offering cold drinks and friendly faces. A place out of the cold and a warm welcome. Elegant in her simplicity. With a smattering of trivia and songs sung at a boisterous Karaoke night. This bar is something to experience on any evening you decide. Give the "little UN" a try and ask for a glass of Molly's brew and remember life is an adventure. read more

I was born into this bar family 26 years ago... i was 3 days old.....This was back when the pub was the Westcrest and my grandfather John "Stats" Witzeman was the bartender... and if anyone here ever visits this place you will know he is there... he is a legend here... and the funniest most awesome person in the entire world..... this bar is awesome...small, good drinks, cold beer, friendly people and to me, its the Cheers of Houston...everyone knows everyone and has been going to this bar for over 20+years... I found Molly's after work through sheer luck - I went to the "pub" which popped up first on my navigation. When I walked in, I felt like I was in a very small town bar, where everyone knows each other. Everyone was busy talking, or watching the game between the Giants and Astros (GO GIANTS!!!). After the bartender (Faye) saw my California ID, she started playfully teasing me about the Giants and informed everyone there where I was from. Now, I'm a 24 year old Mechanical Engineering major. Within 3 hours, I met a) An astro-physicist, b) A multi-millionaire real estate mogul, c) A guy who makes and sells his own beef jerkey and d) A guy who was apparently named one of the world's top 10 scientists. I would have never guessed that just from walking in, since I was the one with the shirt and tie! People were EXTREMELY friendly, and were genuinely interested in getting to know me. Obviously, I got called out on being from the "most liberal state in America", but when I told them I voted for McCain, I got round after round! By the time I was leaving, everyone knew my name. I had a full-page list of things to do/see while I'm in Texas, and about 10 different business cards from people telling me to keep in touch. Southern hospitality at it's best, folks. I love love love this place. I've been going there for years, ever since I've moved to Houston. It's become my Cheers. I know most of the bartenders - Faye, Karen, Stats, and Bob. Who can forget Bob?? He's the old man that acts like he owns the place (he doesn't). But if you call him by name he treats you right. Or if you're a vet, then he really likes you. Whoever is behind the bar, they're gonna take care of you. No, it's not for those who like to go out and pick up members of the opposite sex. They don't serve food there either. But if you like to be able to talk to the person next to you, across from you, or across the bar from you without yelling then this is the bar for you. Sometimes there are live bands or live one-man bands that play pretty much anything you can think of. Sometimes they have dart tournaments. For St. Patty's day they had a true Irishman playing all your drinking song favorites. You gotta check this place out. read more

Molly's is a nice local pub. It's been around since about 1980. Friendly staff and live music on Fridays. The drinks are reasonably priced and on Thursday the tap beer is served in a 23 ounce glass for the same price as a pint. read more

I've been visiting Molly's almost weekly for the last couple of years to participate in their Wednesday night trivia game. Molly's is a comfortable somewhat old-school bar that completely lacks the pretension and snob appeal of whatever you experience at the latest trendy hot spot. The staff at Molly's are great folks; friendly and hard workers. Bob's Wednesday night trivia is the main reason I go to Molly's. The interior is not fancy, but it's clean enough without being spotless. With 8 or 10 taps, Molly's beer selection is narrow by today's standards, and a person looking for a wide variety of beer will not find it. You'll get the usual mega brew garbage and maybe 2 or 3 taps of interest but they do not rotate very quickly. At Molly's you should keep your beverage requests somewhat limited to the basics. The digital juke box is good, and the dart boards are great however the score boards could use some improvement. Molly's allows you to bring in food, or have it delivered. read more
