New spot alert The place is very nice on the inside plenty of TVs and space good for a game day gathering with you and your friends. The waitress was nice, but didn't really seem like she knew a lot about the menu like maybe she was new. The food did take its time coming out , which was kind of frustrating seeing it was only the other two other people in the restaurant besides us but when it came out, everything looked pretty good. I apologize. I did not take any pictures. The fried chicken wings were good. The sweet potatoes were extremely good. The mac & cheese was OK, the cornbread was good. Shrimp could have passed on, the cabbage was good. The catfish strips were overcooked and very hard so I had to send those back which was not a problem. The waffle was hard. We had to send back which started out to be a problem because they tried to charge us full price for the waffle bill with waffle waffle, so we had to call the manager out and she was a little resistant at first, but we expressed that we were not gonna pay for anything that was an edible so she took a discount off the bill which Was ok. Overall, the food was good. The atmosphere was nice. Parking is very good. Location is not the best. Food 4/5 Parking 5/5 Location 3/5 Atmosphere 4/5 Staff 4/5 Return Factor 3/5

The food was amazing. We tried the catfish nuggets the shrimp and fried leg with the hot lemon pepper sauce. With a watermelon margarita. This stuff was on fire. Definitely recommend the s place if you like soul food. We will be back to try more yummies!! Everyone is super friendly and welcoming! The watermelon frozen margarita was lit! Must try and I love a good strong drink!!

,Finally Big Sid HAS COME BACK to "Google Reviews"!!! Big Sid says this... There's NOTHING like having "Food for your soul". There's something about a home cooked meal, that tends to make your troubles disappear for short time to allow you to reset. Momma's is that place. Big Sid has been coming to Momma's for years now, and Big Sid has NEVER been disappointed. On this visit, Big Sid did his usual: Catfish, Shrimp, Fried Chicken, Greens, Sweet Taters, Potato Salad, Hush Puppies, Cheese Sticks, corn bread, the "World Famous Mac N Cheese, with a pitcher of Southern Sweet Tea... Okay yeah and perhaps a side of fries with a smothered pork chop! "Don't judge me f**ker!!! WOOOOOOOOO! Yeah... Big Sid didn't eat it all, not the point. The point is it's FREAKING DELICIOUS and makes Kids of ALL ages happy. Here's how you know it's good; when you don't talk while you're eating, making yummy food noises, and dancing to make room for more deliciousness. You may have heard rumors about other "Soul Food" spots, but mark my word. As a Southern Raised Man, "There's no place like home"... Momma's is home. Thank you to Momma, Brandon, Deseree and the entire staff. Sincerely, Big Sid, Proud USMC Veteran

The atmosphere was so chill and definitely felt like family here! The service was warm and friendly and we got check-ins for food ETA and how we were doing throughout the visit without being "too much". The servers were all amazing and we love Layla (lila?).We got the shrimp entrée, the catfish meal and a side pork chop- which was the perfect combo for us. We loved the catfish and I particularly loved the fried porkchop (crispy and not dry). Shrimps ok, delish but id go back for more fried fish (any kind). We will definitely go back to try the chicken (what they're known for) and more sides! One visit is not enough!!

This was my second visit and definitely the last. Today's visit was blah, the sides tasted like they were prepared yesterday and were honestly lacking the freshness that I was hoping for. I had the pick two and ordered the shrimp and fish. Both of those were good. I will say it was 1 piece of fish cut into three small strips. I ordered greens and Mac, both were underwhelming. Others were also highly disappointed. I understand that every place can have an off day but all of the sides were off. The greens were cold, the mac was dry. I noticed the lady at the table next to us didn't finish her Mac either. I ordered two frozen margaritas and they were delicious. I ended up going to the bar to get my second drink and the bartender was really cool! Great drinks!! they played great music as well. One of my friends ordered the wings and said they were really good. The menu prices don't match what they actually charge. I ordered the peach cobbler to go and it was mainly peach, very little cobbler. The menu had it for $4.99, I was charged $6. When I asked they advised whoever did their menu had the pricing wrong. Well, that's not how this works, you have to change the price on the menu. I didn't argue over a dollar but write over it, put a sticker on top. You can't bamboozle people. My friends' food was $29 on the menu, and she was charged $31. Not a huge difference but still, very scammy. They did take $2 off her check as well as the sides she didn't eat. The main server was nice and super attentive. We were seated immediately and had our drinks pretty quick. We thought we were going for brunch but apparently they only do it on "some" saturdays but how is anyone supposed to know that. There was another server that brought boxes over and noticed my friend hadn't touched her food. She tried a little of everything and was highly disappointed. Her pork chops were cooked too hard, the greens were cold, fish was hard, Mac was underwhelming. The server came up and said "you must be stuffed" she told her she wasn't and that she hadn't touched her food. The server told her she'd take them off the bill because she barely touched them. My friend DID NOT ASK for that. She was going to fix them up when she got home. She packed them to go and the server came up and TOOK THEM OUT OF HER BAG. She didn't say anything when she came up, just took the food. How unprofessional. You're either going to throw it out or serve it to someone else. Why take them. They don't ever to worry about me coming back.

This is a fairly new establishment in our neighborhood that has some of the best Soul Food in Arizona. We finally had the opportunity to stop in for a Friday night dinner and we were definitely surprised. They have quite a few beers on draft Samuel Adam's being one of my favorites is one of them. I ordered the chicken and waffles now I'm not a fan of chicken so the only time I realistically eat it is with a waffle and honestly it's the best fried chicken that I've ever tasted so hats off to whomever is in that kitchen frying up that yummy crispy goodness. The waffle wasn't my favorite but the chicken made up for it . The batter of the waffle was a little too sweet considering that it had powdered sugar dusted on top of it. My boyfriend had the fish, shrimp and fries now that was really good. The fish had a light taste to it so it wasn't by any means super fishy on the taste and the shrimp wasn't over battered it came with tartar sauce and cocktail sauce we really enjoyed our food alot. They have a nice outdoor patio to sit outside during the cooler season, a pool table indoors to shoot some pool while you eat and drink and the staff is super personal and friendly. Honestly I'd give this place more than 5 stars if given the opportunity. Oh and I should mention this place is set up for a bigger party than just 2 so call ahead.

Great service! Great food! The restaurant is bigger inside than it looks on the outside. Great atmosphere. I highly recommend the catfish! I asked two of the ladies working there what they would recommend as sides. One said spaghetti and another said coleslaw. Both were excellent! everyone was very friendly, I can't wait to go back!

Went to review this soulful establishment. The catfish and shrimp were my favorite food items. I was happy to see that they did in fact have some sweet tea on the menu, which in my opinion makes southern cuisine come together. I will recommend and come back here for the amazing comfort food and kindness of the owners.

The outside could turn some away but when you cross through the doors the place is awesome. Lots of TVs for the upcoming football season and great food to match. We had some chicken and I had the catfish strips (cause I love a good fried catfish). For the sides we had Mac and cheese, sweet potatoes, cabbage and potato salad. Everything was delicious but service was a little slow mostly cause our waitress, Marissa, was also the bartender, so we understood the reason. You did great with everything you had to cover! We also had a live band playing some great hits so we didn't mind the wait. We will definitely be back and hopefully the next time is just as good.

We love the original location, it never missed on anything my husband and I ordered. We live closer to this new location and we've tried it on two separate locations. It's not the same, I ordered catfish filets, which was on point and fried well. I also ordered two sides, Mac n cheese and greens. The greens taste like nothing but vinegar and were flavorless, hot sauce didn't help. I usually enjoy these because they don't use pork in them. The Mac n cheese was better than last time I ordered it, last time it was salty and was not edible. I ordered to go and live 30 min away, so going back isn't an option. I may have to drive to the other location or just not order sides again.

I tried a dill pickle shot that was soo good. The fish was cooked to a tee. In the past I've had their Carmel cake as well. Ima start trying different things on the menu

Went this weekend. And lorddd where do I start. Got there around 11. Only two waitresses between the tables and the bar. The menu is OVERWHELMING. It's like 327 items to choose from not to mention the combos are over priced. If you do the math it's cheaper to order the items individually! And not to mention quite a few items on the menu tha were not even available. Also it took 47 minutes bites from the time we ordered to receive our food. The beans needed to be mixed cause top was cold bottom was hott. And my hott wings were like warm so I'm sure those were probably done first and sat there. And then took three times asking for boxes so we could leave to the point we almost grabbed the box our self and she gonna walk by and say oh I'll grab it for you like ma'am. We been asking greens also needed more vinegar. But everything else was okay. Probably would not be back.

The chicken was hot and crunchy. I liked the flavor, not too strong. Some parts were a bit dry. But overall, still good. Would eat again.

The outside honestly looked like one of those cozy restaurants you'd see in a K-drama with the glowing lights and busy vibe. When we walked in, it was already pretty packed, and more people kept coming in after us, so that's always a good sign lol. The service was also amazing and everyone was really nice. Obviously we had to order the fried chicken, and I loved that all the sauces came on the side so you could dip and try different flavors without the chicken getting soggy. And the biggest surprise for me was the cheesy corn topped with pork. I would have never thought of that combo myself, but it was actually so good. Creamy, savory, cheesy perfection. We went pretty late at night, so parking was easy for us, but I could definitely see it getting hectic during the day since it's in the same plaza as H Mart. So best to double check before going!

After deciding on fried chicken, instead of traditional wings, it took way too long to place an order despite 5 employees (not sure if they were actually employees, it just seemed like 5 people running a co op and hanging out or something) being near us. As we were waiting for our food, we glanced around and saw many odd things like a filing cabinet used to store chopsticks and other items. We wanted to sit at the bar but half of it was taken by employees, boxes of shoes, really random items. After about 15 minutes the chicken came out. No sign of the ranch that we requested, but at least we had food. After looking at the chicken, it became apparent that they had brought us wings. I asked the employee if they had made a mistake, but he let me know that their fried chicken is all wings, despite the word "wings" never appearing on the menu in the fried chicken section. The saving grace here is that the chicken WINGS were quite tasty. The breading was crispy and the sauces were good. I could see how this would get soggy for takeout, so I recommend dining in for fried chicken WINGS. Overall, super weird place but the chicken WINGS are good.

We checked it out last weekend, while in the area, looking for really good wings, so we could head back to the house and watch some football. This one came up on Yelp as pretty promising. So we decided to try it out. Boy was. I glad I stopped here! Now this is in a strip mall. Almost at the corner, Next to a Circle K or 7-Eleven. I can't remember which. Pretty big restaurant with several tables and booths. Clean and well lit with a large menu board. Service was prompt, and we were immediately helped by what I presume to be one of the family members and owners. This looks like a complete family operation with mom and dad and family working in the back. Definitely my kind of vibe. We decided to try a little bit of everything, including the traditional wing sauce, and the lemon pepper which is wet. That's something you usually won't find here in Phoenix and their version was fantastic. Really tangy and lemony. The traditional hot wing sauce was also notable Because so many people get it wrong. You have to have that right Balance of Vinegar, which they definitely have. Wings are decent sized and the price is actually pretty on point. I also ordered the JC burger and two of their hot Dogs. While they weren't Sonoran style, hot Dogs, the owner referred to them as Homestyle Mexican Hot Dogs, they were still really good, and as you can see from the pictures, full of fresh ingredients. I do prefer the Sonoran style though, so I would love to see them add that to the menu. The burger was decent, but I didn't find the Patty to be that substantial. Again, the toppings and the avocado were really fresh, so no complaints there. The only thing outside of that is I really wanted to try desserts, but we were headed to the pie place down the street so I decided to pass this time. But I definitely am looking forward to grabbing a banana split on my next visit!
