They have a special of three rolls for $22 which is actually really good for the city. The catch is you have to order all three rolls at the same time. I ordered two rolls initially and then added a third -- the waitress was nice and gave me the price for the special in the end but warned me that's not how it works. Overall, I would say a lot of people seem to be doing takeout from this place, so it was really easy to get a table even on a Friday night without a reservation. I've been eating here for years and it's consistently been a reliable, fresh neighborhood BYOB sushi place (bottle opening fee applies)! Let's dive in with an update: Miso Soup (4/5): Nothing crazy about this. Just your average run-of-the-mill miso soup. Was nice on a cold night. Came out quickly too. Pork Gyoza (4/5): The filling was flavorful and the sauce truly sweet which is the perfect combination. I would have loved for them to pan fry the dumplings for another minute as the crispiness was a bit light for a fried dumpling order. Flatiron (Tuna Sandwich) Special Sushi Roll (3/5): I very much appreciate the ingenuity of this special but I find the lack of seaweed a bit odd. It really is a bunch of triangle shaped sushi sandwiches. Nothing else is inherently wrong with this. Just found that texture missing and didn't feel like a sushi roll. It falls apart a bit while eating. Dragon Special Sushi Roll (5/5): I ordered the Dragon Ball off the apps menu but they gave me this instead by mistake. It was super flavorful with the eel, fresh avocado, and savory dark eel sauce drizzled on this beautiful masterpiece! Spicy Scallop Roll (5/5): This, and all their spicy rolls have a delicious spicy mayo blend with the fish, combined with some tobiko making for a perfect bite of spicy, crunch, and fish. Service (5/5): The waiter was relatively easy to flag down even with a few large groups they were tending to. I ordered the Dragon Ball sushi app and instead got the Dragon Roll. It only hit me about two pieces into the roll and after telling the waiter he offered to swap it for the item I originally ordered. I was loving the roll so much that I told him not to worry about it. Without asking him to do so, he kindly only charged me for the Dragon Ball (about half the price of the Dragon Roll). I very much appreciate this level of customer service! Note on BYOB: I was here a few weeks ago (not written about here) and they have a bottle opening fee. I believe it was $10 for the first and $5 for subsequent bottles. I didn't drink in this most recent visit but thought it was worth mentioning for those interested. The shrimp shumai was not my favorite, it was cold and seemed to be over steamed making it too soft . The miso soup was excellent, very flavorful. We had the 16 pc deluxe sashimi, nice fish selection by the chef. We were able to exclude the fish we didn't want. The seared scallop roll was amazing, nice flavors. The salmon with jalapeño roll was alright. The jalapeño didn't have a kick to it, it taste more like a green pepper. The seaweed salad was too cold in temperature. I rather have it room temperature. My favorite place to get great quality, affordable sashimi/nigiri from! I have an addiction to raw fish and my eating habits were pretty expensive when I dined at sushi restaurants for sashimi. My wallet was not happy compared to my belly's cravings so I searched for places known for yummy sushi with raw fish. I decided to try MoMo and I ordered a salmon don from them. I LOVED it, the fish was thick, fluffy and buttery with some salmon roe included into it. So since the salmon don made my taste buds happy I tried their Sashimi Deluxe and it's been my favorite dish that I have ordered from them and I keep ordering that dish whenever I am there. They also give you some rice on the side if you need some rice to balance out flavors while eating different pieces of sashimi and it helps you enjoy each piece of meat. It's always served so beautifully as well! My boyfriend isn't into sashimi/nigiri as much so he gets their rolls and he's liked their rolls a lot! We hit it up at an odd between lunch and "real dinner" hour, so we were one of two occupied tables in this narrow, well-appointed casual Japanese restaurant. We wanted a couple sushi rolls to start our day because we had a night of drinking ahead of us. I was happy to see that they have a decent veggie roll selection and while there aren't the most innovative options, I'm happy with a good avocado cucumber roll... even better if there's a tofu skin and avo roll. The rolls were fine. My only complaint is that there were no sesame seeds. Actually, that's a pretty big deal for me, so I'd have to say that I'd likely opt to go somewhere else for veggie rolls. Note: there's no alcohol served. For the price-point compared against quality this is a good place. Solid food for a very reasonable price point in the city. The chicken teriyaki is grilled and sliced and makes for a great entree after a sushi roll or two. The chicken is served with two thin breasts, as a decently generous portion. However, one critic is that it could be served with a few more veggies, as you see just a few in my photo. Additionally, the entree said to be served with a soup or salad in which I did not receive, but I did not comment on because to be honest I was quite full. The menu consists of a wide selection of sushi rolls and other appetizers as well including spicy edamame which is in fact quite spicy. I'd recommend doing the sauce on the side if you order this. This is a very casual small place with good service, and I will be back. i was looking for a lunch spot in nomad. google pointed me towards momo. they had a lunch special option so away i went. the space itself is to be expected. a pretty narrow shotgun style restaurant. if you're by yourself you'll be seated at a two person in an area where you always feel like you're in the way. momo isn't losing any stars for this. very typical just thought it was worth saying. i saw interesting specialty rolls on yelp but decided to stick with the lunch special bc it's a pretty good deal. for $14 you get two rolls and miso soup or salad. for $18 make that three rolls. obviously they limit the rolls to pretty basic ones but a single specialty roll starts at $17. i ended up ordering the avocado eel roll, the spicy crunchy yellowtail, and the roast pork buns. the miso soup came out first. it's freezing right now so greatly appreciated. i saw a review saying it's a bit sweet. i definitely noted that but didn't mind it. it was still pretty balanced. the spicy yellowtail had a nice flavor but the texture threw me off. there was nothing solid to balance the mushiness of the roll besides the bits of tempura that acted as the "crunch". after three or so it started to be unappealing. the avocado eel was also a mistake. but i don't blame momo. it tasted exactly as it should have. the same issue as the yellowtail it didn't have enough texture. i should've ordered the cucumber eel and will certainly do that next time. however, flavor wise, the avocado eel didn't taste like much. i found myself adding so much wasabi and even the wasabi didn't taste like anything. not sure if i wasn't fresh but i've had wasabi where even a tiny bit singes your nose. very strange. the roast pork buns were fun but again i had to use a decent amount of soy sauce and wasabi to find the flavor. tldr: overall, i could've chosen better rolls. that's on me. i got what i ordered. but the general flavors i experienced tells me that even with better rolls momo may be leaving some flavor on the table. read more

The service was speedy and friendly for a Saturday night (we did go on the earlier side) but the reason I am giving it 4 stars instead of 5 is due to the lack of alcohol. I always thought the reviews about being served bad sushi and getting sick were garbage, but it finally happened to me. I had yellowtail, salmon, tuna and the seared scallop from here and barely was able to eat half before I tossed the rest. The rolls that were delivered were horribly made to start, with uneven rice distribution (and some pieces missing rice on one side completely). The fish was cut strangely almost like they were small pieces of leftovers, and all had a very weird "sheen" to them. After about 45 minutes I started sweating and had to go throw up. I really never thought I would have to do this, but I *highly* suggest caution when eating here, at least on Sunday. read more

The Philadelphia was great too, I just personally prefer shrimp and crab over salmon. I tried two pieces of a Tuna Avocado Roll, which was also very delicious. When the order was brought out, one of the veggie rolls was accidentally a Tuna Avocado Roll.
