Dined here on 6/20. Where do I start. The place is small so it shouldn't be that hard for the few employees working to keep up, or hire more staff. We walked in to face a large party's empty table piled with dirty dishes that sat. We were asked to sit at some overly large square table near the restrooms to wait for our table. There were 2 servers on: male and female. We had the female who clearly lacked training. She forgot our sugar for iced tea and whenever we asked a question she would laugh and say 'I'm not sure. Let me go ask.' Pre-bussing is not a thing here. After we sat, another table across from us sat dirty. No one cleared not one of our dishes for dessert. They literally sat stacked on our table and messy. Do not order the mochi. You get ONE piece of mochi cut in half for $12! I never bothered to ask the price of dessert as the options were rattled off verbally. I thought no big deal of ordering 4 mochi balls cut in half as I buy a box from them (about 12 in a package) for less than $10. $48 for four mochi balls cut in half!! What an absolute rip-off. Train your servers to clean as they go please. Clear other tables and put some importance of the appearance for other guests and the appearance of the restaurant. We will not be dining here again. I'm giving this place 5 stars because it is really unheard of to have quality omakase/sushi around here in the IE. We didn't dine in, but my husband went to order and pick it up. U can't do any phone orders, or online, you have to pay and order in person btw. We got the salmon two piece, the Momo roll, lemon roll and the tuna bomb. All of them were very very fresh, we were surprised. And yes of course you would expect to pay for the quality. The three rolls we got were part of their premium rolls and they ranged anywhere from $22-25 dollars per roll. Now if you want quality, fresh fish this is the place to go, just expect to pay for what you get. It was so good. My favorite for sure the Momo roll, it had a citrus and crunchy onion texture. I hope this place does well in the IE bc it's really hard to find quality sushi out here and not in OC. I didn't dine in but my husband said the ambiance was really pretty and very fancy...but the area where it's at isn't lol but I mean what can you expect. It's in the same complex as Lowe's and Popeyes chicken and an urgent care lol. The surrounding areas are hella random. We also ordered the chicken karage for our kids, just mediocre tho, for $16 just go to Popeyes for chicken lol the sushi tho, highly recommend! read more

Absolutely delicious sushi! Hidden gem of a place. They have been open for a year now. First time here, tried this place on a whim and will definitely be back! The place is well organized, lots of tables and booths. The service can be a bit slow. We had to call our server a few times but it wasn't a big deal. The server took our drink order promptly and drinks arrived quickly. Food did as well. It was for when we needed to reorder. Their price is a bit higher than other sushi places but it is well worth it. The fish is fresh and absolutely delicious so well worth it! We had the lemon roll, momo sushi, tuna bomb. All wonderful! Got ahead of myself and forgot to take the first batch of sushi that was made by the one and only Chef Garu. Excellent pieces, all were prepared extremely well. From the presentation to the taste, it felt as though everything was pretty much executed to perfection. Staff were very kind and made sure our hot tea were always hot and not warm. Severely attentive, not sure if that's a bad thing. The setup and the vibes were almost similar to your regular omakase shops in Japan. It was a very cozy & charming environment I would say. This place is by far the best Sushi restaurant within a 20 mile radius. We moved to Riverside from LA 9 years ago and we've tried a lot of places in the area. Most of the places are average. Momo Sushi is one of Riverside's Gems. I had to shake the owner's hand after our meal because for the first time in 9 years, I was deeply impressed. My wife and I are not interested in going anywhere else for Sushi in Riverside. The price is a little high but it matches the quality and preparation in my opinion. WOW. We were craving sushi and decided to give this place a try after reading the reviews. We had the Sunshine, Tuna Bomb, Lemon, and Green Dragon rolls (plus shrimp tempura and baked blue crab muscles). Oh. My. Gosh. This is the first sushi place I've had in Riverside that rivals my favorite sushi (Kushiyo in Encino). The fish was so fresh and buttery and delicate and delicious. The best quality I've ever had in Riverside. They are not a typical western sushi place - there are no California rolls or imitation crab anywhere. But their sushi was so delicious that after we devoured our first set of rolls, we literally asked the waitress to double the same order and we repeated the feast all over. The service was also spectacular, and they have pickled wasabi too. It was so good it's now our favorite sushi place in Riverside. It's kind of in an "interesting" neighborhood - right next to Chen Ling Palace (across the street from Lowe's). But don't let that deter you. This is a 5-star sushi place. It is not all you can eat, you need to order pieces individually or by the roll. We ordered a few different items. I really wish Yelp would allow half stars as this rating would technically be 4.5. I decided to take my wife out in a date and as a sushi lover, Momo Sushi really stood out with its quality and amazing reviews. I made a reservation for 5:30 pm, and the staff were very welcoming. Once we sat down, we were given a menu to peruse and did note that it took a while for us to get our waters. We decided in the premium omakase, a 12 piece sushi menu with appetizers and small treats trickled in for $150 per person. The tempo of the course was very well timed. So why the 4/4.5 stars? There were only about two to three pieces of sushi which really stood out, one of them being seared engewa. The addition of truffle or caviar did not contribute to the dishes side from presentation; one really couldn't taste the caviar or truffle additions. I agree with prior reviews that the mochi ice cream dessert left a lot to be desired. read more

Food was terrible for it's price. Yes there is food here that is good, but it shouldn't be 50/50 chance. Handroll set for lunch was nasty; I shouldve taken photos. It had a bunch of filler that tasted like bread crumbs / tempura flakes and only had bits of fish/crab inside. Do not recommend. Chirashi bowl had two pieces of uni, a spoonful of roe, and some strings of fish meat? for $40?? I understand how expensive seafood can be but I'm not gullible As per the photo, most of it was pickled veggies that made the presentation nice, but it was far from it's price. Also do not recommend. I liked the soft shelled crab and the salad was tasty; very light and I think it was priced well for what it is. The eel bowl was also good and I think worth its price. The eel was well cooked and tender and I liked that it came out fast. Service was excellent and everyone was very sweet. The interior is beautiful as well. Service is fast & gracious. OYSTERS: Ooooooooo probly some of the best decked-out oysters we've had. Sauce + tobiko + green onion + shredded radish (?) = amazing. Tasted fresh & savory af. HAMACHI KAMA: Juicy & tender, albeit a bit too charred. Cold tofu was yummy tho. OMAKASE BOWL: This was the same price as the chirashi so I was like YOLO LOL. Incredibly fresh fish & greens. My husband and I went for a week-night dinner to celebrate his birthday. It was a spur of the moment decision and a casual dining night. The restaurant wasn't crowded at all. Just normal occupancy. We decided to order the smaller portion of the Omakase menu. We were surprised to find a sushi restaurant with Omakase on the menu in Riverside of all places with a decent price. I would agree with other reviewers that this IS the best sushi in the IE. We were greeted upon arrival and everyone was friendly and helpful during our meal. We ordered three different rolls and all were fresh. It was recommended to try them before using soy sauce. We did and needless to say they were so flavorful they did not need it. i remember looking at the menu for momo when it first opened and being floored by the prices. in my opinion, they were staggering for this area. in LA or OC, i could see it. but for a small, unassuming restaurant off magnolia, i wasn't sold. i was given a gift card for my birthday and told to go check it out for myself and i'm 100% eating my words. this was some of the best sushi i have had in a long time. i mean, crazy good. we started off with the yellowtail hamachi carpaccio and the kumamoto oysters and they were both vibrant and refreshing. for rolls, we tried the rainbow roll, lemon roll (my personal favorite), and the tuna bomb. our server told us they only use fresh blue crab (not imitation) and bluefin tuna and you could absolutely taste the difference. for two drinks, two "starters," three rolls, and dessert, our bill was about $160. on the higher end for some, sure, but not unaffordable, and definitely worth every penny. you could easily triple that with some of the fun, high quality offerings they have on the menu. we will be back any time we're celebrating something or in the mood for sushi, which is often! read more

Don't expect AYCE here or cheap rolls, quality wise 10/10, better than Nobu and most of sushi spots in Japan. Give it a try really good food 10/10. Had to drop off a family member in Riverside and found this little GEM!! Came in on Saturday about 1pm, they were not that busy but had a few tables. The service was good not great. Out server went to lunch after taking our order and didn't inform anyone. I had to flagged down a server for help, ask for a couple things and he never came back. Had to flagged down another sever, I didn't get her name, I believe she is Latina, and did a great. She is the reason why I gave a 5 stars review, otherwise it would be 4 stars. We ordered: Garlic Truffle Edamame - Soybeans sautéed in garlic, soy & black truffle oil. Rock Shrimp - Whole shrimp battered and deep fried tossed in spicy garlic aioli. This is almost like the honey walnut prawns but better. It was so good we ordered seconds. Uni Nigri is one the best and freshest we ever had. 12 Pieces Assorted Chef's Choice Sashimi came with some of the freshest fish we had. What we got: Cucumber salad $80 Omakase regular (theres a premium option for $150)- the sashimi plate was creative and had variety. The sushi needs to work on their pairing...ex) a bit heavy on the pickled wasabi on the scallop, so get less of a sweet taste. Also, all the nigiri sushi is very loaded on rice and sauce, which did not allow the natural flavors of the fish to sing Tempura part was okay Handroll set - decent size, but all of them ended up tasting the same because they had alot of sauce And here's the annoying part...they ran out of sweet shrimp, Hamachi kama, and uni ..quite a bit. So when I saw Momo had opened up down the the street from where I live, I knew I had try it out... So I came here by myself on a Saturday& treated myself to the standard Omakase. I was IMPRESSED by the flavor & fresh quality. Momo's Omakase was even better than the last expensive Omakase that had in LA & for a better price. The quality of fish was great and you'd have to drive to LA or Orange County to get something similar. The real deal and the service was great. Now to try the premium Omakase! Go there. Amazing sushi. Appropriate portions (not loaded with rice) and high quality. It is omakase style and feels more traditional, which is refreshing since there are so many Americanized sushi restaurants using lower quality ingredients, serving giant rolls that are heavy on the rice and sauces. They have plenty to order from a la carte but I do wish they had just a few more rolls (with tuna in particular). Perhaps they will add more over time but again, it is traditional here so don't expect to see pages of rolls on their menu. Nonetheless, they did have a nice selection of rolls and I really loved their Hawaiian. Their spicy tuna on crispy rice was actually the best I've ever had. Ambiance was quiet and relaxing. Still a new restaurant so still have a lot to work on but has so much potential to get there. Food: the sushi was fresh and amazing flavor. So many more options than most sushi places which I loved.I ordered omakase and when the server came with the food he would simply place it down and not explain what type of fish I was about to eat. So though I enjoyed them all I didn't know exactly what I was eating for next time. But like I said this can easily be improved and I am sure they will get more comfortable as time goes on. Also thought the touch of the plastic flower and leaves on my sashimi plate wasn't thought out too well. I am not into non-edible or plastic things on my sashimi plate. Service: The other thing that left me feeling like it wasn't top notch service YET was when I ordered a bottle of cold sake. The server brought it to the table and didn't pour my first glass which is usually customary, especially for a nice upscale sushi restaurant. Finally! I've been waiting to try this sushi place for a while and OMG! The decoration it's super nice. My son and hubby had the bento box and they were very pleased with all the items. They don't like raw fish that much so this was perfecto! I order the lunch special that comes with the delicious miso soup, and guess what? It does comes with tofu! Just like it should be. The little soup plates are so adorable and soup was full of flavor. The fish was fresh and delicious. I loved the presentation. Can't wait to go back. Service was on point. It was our first time and we came here after shopping. Family was hungry and they were craving sushi. Plenty of parking outside. Got seated in the middle of the restaurant because there was no booths available. Decor was nice and it was quiet inside. Our family ordered the lunch Chirashi bowl, Bento box with salmon roll and salmon teriyaki and the baked salmon roll. My husbands meal came out first- Chirashi. His meal and mine - the bento box came with miso soup. Then my meal came a few minutes later. We were almost done halfway though our meal before my son got his baked salmon roll. He loved it! Tried this place out on January 31, and the sushi was horrible. Every dish was drenched in some type of sauce that was very bland. Sushi rolls were the worst I've ever had.
