Our first visit patronizing this family diner for breakfast. It didn't really start off on the best note. This is another establishment that has stopped serving Diet Pepsi and substituted Pepsi Zero. That's a big red flag for my wife as she dislikes any Zero product and loves her original diet soda. She ordered a blueberry pancake and a side of bacon. First off, the staff is extremely friendly and thoroughly look like they enjoy their job. I ordered the cowboy breakfast which entailed 2 biscuits covered in 2 sausage patties, hash browns, and country gravy. My wife did not like the pancake. She stated that the batter had a strange flavor and was rather dry. She also stated the blueberries were sour. My only complaint on my breakfast was the hash browns. I have only found a couple of places that cook hash browns correctly. Most establishments cook them like they do here. They don't rinse out the starch and just brown the edges and the insides are chewy and not thoroughly cooked. My biscuits were tasty and fluffy. The sausage was outstanding and flavorful. The gravy was plentiful and was wonderful. We probably won't be coming back due to the fact that the no longer serve Diet Pepsi. That one of the must haves for my wife. Tonight my boyfriend and I stopped in for dinner. The service started kinda slow with us not seeing anyone for awhile but finally our waitress made it over. She had a large section and seemed overwhelmed but the service got much better as the meal progressed. BF ordered French toast and said it was good, but it was diner French toast. I ordered the country fried steak as it looked amazing on the menu. The potatoes were ok, but were nothing like the menu showed. The green beans were good. The country fried steak was excellent. Cooked well, breading wasn't heavy and didn't break teeth to eat. The iced tea was really good too. It was a mom and pop style dinner with lots of tables but plenty of space. Today's winner of the catchiest table top advertising slogan is......... The diner is on the corner of N. Elm and W. Queens St. W. Queens is the street that you turn on, to get to Planet Fitness. It presents a dilemma to many, a difficult choice, food or the treadmill. The temptation of Mom's Family Diner derails the good intentions of many. I have been by it hundreds of times in the mornings. The parking lot is always packed and the street is congested with cars and trucks. More cars there than at the gym. It is loved by the locals. It is a clean restaurant. Typical diner décor. Today's special hand written on a white board conspicuously displayed to catch your eye. Walls of knickknacks, advertising memorabilia and signs with snappy relatable little phrases to make you smile. And my favorite, the table top advertising. Cathy was our friendly server. Club sandwich and fries for me. An excellent meat packed, thick bacon, triple decker with a plate of fries. A filling meal. My wife had the less exciting, but still very good Ham and Cheese on rye. The restaurant has great daily specials. Their menu covers all three daily meals. While waiting for the food to arrive I entertained myself by searching the table top for the best advertising slogan. As much as I wanted to love it here I can. Our server was always to busy tending to her "regulars" then to us which is ok Ik how it goes but to keep going back to there table so many time to talk instead of getting things we needed I was a little disappointed. As for my order I told her I wanted for my 3 year old a waffle with whip cream, and a side order of sausage. She charged be 14$ for that.. I was shocked! Was donating blood today and had to have a good meal so this place was recommended. Even tho they were really busy, I was seated right away, got my drink and my order taken in just a minute or two. I had the fried catfish and fries and slaw. Everything was awesome. Catfish was piping hot. This location is part of a small Tulsa chain of locally owned restaurants. With that said, you don't have multiple locations if the food and service aren't good. I have dined in all of their locations and consistency in food quality, large portions and great service are what makes me come back, and to all of them! This spot though, is conveniently located off the Broken Arrow Expressway (highway 51, or the B.A.) and is near Bass Pro Shop. When you come here, come super hungry and be prepared to step into an old school equally grungy and awesome diner. This is not a shiny, super trendy type place. This is where the locals go. All are welcome here regardless of how you dress and how you look and everyone is treated well and like family. In my family, being treated like family means you're going to be given a LOT of food. It's all reasonably priced and delicious. I'm a huge fan of their breakfast offerings and in the afternoon I love a good bacon cheese burger with onion rings and a side of ranch. We arrived to a packed house at Mom's family Diner on a Saturday mid morning. Even though people were parking in the street, we were able to snag one of the last booths. We were greeted promptly and with a smile. After much debate (because there were a ton of yummy options) I settled on the western omelette. It was good, it the biscuits and gravy stole the show for me. The biscuit was soft and fluffy, full of flavor. I could have just had a meal of that and been happy! My son got the kids pancakes and added chocolate chips. It was loaded with chocolate and he was thrilled. The coffee was hot and fresh, food was delicious and the staff was amazing. I have ordered pickup several times & referred many friends to the Mom's in Broken Arrow. I recently ordered the Asian Chicken Salad with the ginger dressing. The dressing is what makes this salad so good. Got home & found only salad, no dressing, crackers or plastic ware. Nutshell: No frills diner. Good pancakes, decent prices, hits the hunger spot if that's what you're needing. I came in prime time on a weekend morning, so it was quite busy. Since it was just me I was able to get seated right away at the counter. Everyone at the counter seemed to be a regular, so it's that kinda of place. I got a coffee to start and a 2x2x2. The plate consists of two pancakes, two eggs (I went scrambled), and two pieces of meat (extra crispy bacon for me). The bacon was very tasty and crisp. The pancakes were huge and hit the spot. I ended up needing a box for the second pancake for an afternoon snack. Coffee was your typical diner coffee. It provided the required caffeine, but it's on the darker/bitter side. Service was prompt and nice enough. I wasn't rushed and my coffee cup stayed full. The total came to about $12. Not terrible for a breakfast and a snack. My husband had been wanting to give this place a try for quite awhile. We were planning on having dinner with my grandma, and she had been wanting to try this restaurant too, so that's where we went. We went on a Saturday around 5 and there were a few large groups but not overrun. We had no wait and were sat in a booth close to the kitchen. Our server was friendly and efficient, and anticipated some of our needs before we knew we had them. My husband and I shared a Chicken Fried Steak dinner with fried okra and mashed potatoes, and the dinners come with rolls. There was definitely enough there to share, but we have smaller appetites. Grandma ordered her own and ate most of it. The CFS was really good! The breading was well seasoned and the meat was tender. The mashed potatoes were really good, the gravy was really good, and the fried okra was awesome. The food came out nice and hot...like so hot that we couldn't eat it right away, which is not a complaint. We have been wanting to try this place for quite a while, and we finally got the opportunity to do so. My only regret?...not doing so sooner! We stopped in on a Saturday evening and split a chicken fried steak meal with mashed potatoes and fried okra. As far as CFS go, this one was pretty great! I loved the batter. Really well seasoned and crispy and the gravy was tasty. The potatoes were "real" and the okra tasted like they used fresh okra! There was a little bit of a chew to the beef in the CFS, but not too bad (though it does not reheat well if you have leftovers, just a heads up). The service was attentive and friendly and the food came out piping hot, which I appreciate so much. Is it just me or does it seem hard to get a restaurant to serve actually hot food anymore? Well, this place is doing it, and it was great on a cold night. We can't wait to go back and try some of the other dishes, and I'll update the review as I do, but until then...the CFS has my stamp of approval, OH, and the rolls were soft, fluffy and awesome to soak up the gravy. Ordered biscuits and gravy for me crew this morning. Simple enough... so I thought. Granted was a little busy not overwhelmingly busy. Figured biscuits n gravy was easiest to get out of their hair, boy was I wrong!!!!! Waited in all about 25-30 min... Then I get back to my store to feed my crew and I am short an order!!!! The manager is running around doing inventory or truck order while I am waiting instead of maintaining accuracy and standards!!!! Our trip started less than stellar when we stood at the front of a fairly empty restaurant next to the sign that said to "please wait to be seated" for approximately 5 minutes before anyone acknowledged our existence when we were told to "just sit wherever". Went for breakfast with my daughter on a Monday morning. Great food and service even though they seemed short staffed. I had the ham steak breakfast that included a huge ham steak, eggs, hash browns, and biscuit with gravy. She had the supreme french toast. We will be back soon. Came here this morning for breakfast. The minute I came in with my husband and my son. This place gives me the creeps because the waitress keeps staring at you and watch every move you make. There is only 1 cook in the back room and it has been 20 minutes already and my food hasn't arrived. My favorite MOM's place is on 41st and Mingo in Tulsa. The servers are amazing and the cook makes the food delicious every time I go there in Tulsa. This location is not really friendly people. I don't know if the owner owns both of the restaurants or its separate owners. Here is one star for the staff and 5 stars for the food so average will be given 3 stars.
