Went here on a Sunday a little bit past lunch. Reviews were promising but the service and food seemed underwhelming. Serving size was small. My husband and I could usually share a dish but this time, it just wasn't enough. And taste-wise, there was nothing really special that you tell yourself that you have to come back to that place. Maybe because, they were almost closing? Staff was not as attentive either. Too bad, we might skip on this place next time we'll be in the area.

    Breakfast sandwich

First time here. We were in town on a Sunday morning very early for a 9 am graduation and arrived early enough to get some breakfast with a friend. Cute spot with booths all over and a friendly staff. We were greeted and seated right away. I ordered the breakfast sandwich which is on a croissant with smoked bacon strips, avocado, mixed greens, bacon jam and two eggs. Instead of the potatoes, I got fruit for an additional $3.49. The sandwich was ok and I usually like bacon jam but I didn't like how sweet it was on this. The fruit was a sliver of orange, a very soft and super thin sliver of flavorless watermelon, a few slices of strawberries, a handful of blueberries and a ton of thin sliced apple. It wasn't great and I gave the apples away. I would have preferred just berries and for the additional cost, it would have been worth it. Randy ordered The (Not So) Standard Benedict and said it was only ok. He didn't like the super soft potatoes that came with it so he didn't eat many of them. His very thin slice of watermelon on his plate was also soft and flavorless. Our friend ordered the French toast and said it was good. I don't think we'd go back but we really appreciated the attentive server we had.

Great Chico breakfast spot! I have never had a bad dish here. The food is fresh and tasty. Very open and clean dining room, with seating available also. Our server was quick with our coffee and made sure our cups stayed hot. I had the Bacon Benedict w/ bacon Hollandaise which was delicious! My wife had the Bacon & Eggs, and the eggs were perfect! Excellent place for families and large breakfast, lunch or brunch.

Food was excellent, super quick service since it was only open for another half hours. Biscuits and graves were yummy

Service, location and ambiance all great! Food is what you would expect from a diner.

    Corned Beef Hash

The food here is SO good. We've been twice now. The first time we got the Corned Beef Hash and the Farmers Breakfast. Both were delicious and I made two meals out of the Hash. The second time we had the pancakes and the Green Eggs and Ham Benedict. We made two meals out of each of them, and the Benedict was one of the best I've ever had. The only problem we had was, that our waiter never came back to check on us either time. We ran out of our beverages and really had a hard time getting his attention to have him come back to the table both times. Be aware that it's downtown, and you must pay for parking.

There was a little bit of a wait due to graduation but it was worth it. The interior is adorable and the staff is helpful and friendly. We all ordered the corned beef with the breakfast potatoes and eggs. It was delicious! We are happy we gave Mom's a try.

Amazing service at the bar. Got the breakfast potatoes extra crispy with the biscuits and gravy. Definitely the way to go and man does that white mocha look amazing.

Finally got into this very busy restaurant on a weekend no less. The places is pretty big, nice decor and they have an amazingly large and friendly staff on hand. We really like how the menu is incorporated into the table, convenient and clean. This is a breakfast and lunch only place, in case you didn't know. I ordered a Bloody Mary, wife had a peach cocktail. Excellent mixologist. Wife had the Eggs Ranchero's sans the cheese and I had the Chicken and Waffle plate. A nice spin on the Ranchero with a winner sauce. I don't think I've had better fried chicken. Fall off the bone goodness. A light and tasty waffle made this a perfect meal. The college crowd, large groups, young people made it a pleasant and interesting dine. Certainly worth a try but I think the secrets out. Guy walking out the door, rubbing his belly, shouts out,"order the chicken fried steak ", Ha.

This was our first time here! We read about Mom's but we were never able to make it out. We were pleased to be able to come to this establishment for the first time with my parents and we were not disappointed. The check-in was easy, and everyone was friendly from there on out. Stepping into the restaurant was amazing! It felt like we were in someone's preserved hall of memories, but for moms! We were seated fairly quickly with a wonderful view of the whole restaurant. The service was quick, helpful and worked with our dietary restrictions. While we waited on our order, we took a moment to walk around and take everything in. Our drinks were amazing - hot, flavorful, and deserved more sips to savor the flavor. The food was off the chain. I had the healthy nut omelet and that was the BEST use of garlic in an omelet I have ever had anywhere. The potatoes tasted great although a little salty for my own taste, and the french toast was fluffy, and tasty. We were happy to be able to come in, and we may have a new favorite spot for us to bring our family and friends to. Kudos to the chefs, the waiters, and the whole staff. We will be back!

Look around and feel the love.

Pros: great menu, great options and has alternatives to milk. Great coffee and the food was delicious. I feel for the pumpkin spice filled pancakes and they SLAPPED! The fill was a cream cheese pumpkin mixture. Big portions! Fun ambiance across from the Bear. Cons: parking can suck. Be sure to pay whatever parking meter you use just in case. Service is sometimes slow. Bottom line: Will definitely return.

Plastic Staws. This is unacceptable for a local restaurant in Chico in 2020. Even Costco has paper straws. Come on.

The carpet in particular is somewhat outdated and very dreary. We were seated right away with an evening reservation. Our server was the most delightful, helpful as well as professional person. She definitely made for an enjoyable experience. The menu is nicely broad with some very good and interesting selections. For an appetizer I selected the Alsatian Tarte Flambe. With the description of a "tarte" plus "puffed pastry" I was somewhat surprised when what looked like a flatbread arrived. Although somewhat true to the description I expected something like a cup shaped pastry. It was delicious enough so no complaints over the ingredients and flavor. If anything it tasted a bit top heavy with vinegar, yet still enjoyable. I washed it down with a Schramsberg Prosecco which was a perfect accompaniment. For an entree I choose the Grilled 6oz Petit Tender (medium rare) with asparagus and scalloped potatoes topped by a red wine and berry sauce. It was excellent, flavorful with the meat very tender. I was very pleased. It was an abundant portion so I was quite full after consuming it. My dining companion had the grilled meatloaf with ground filet mignon and pork sausage. It is baked and then grilled. I tried some and it is EPIC. It has to be one of the best meatloaf preparation I ever tasted. Bravo on this dish! We shared a bottle of Tempranillo to accompany it which was perfect. For dessert we shared a nice and refreshing mint chocolate chip ice cream which was generously comped as we were there for a special occasion. Thank you! I would definitely return and try other dishes, although the meatloaf is a must standout. Overall a very good experience.

We held the door for an elderly couple leaving as we entered, so for the sake of argument let's say we crossed their threshold at exactly 1:30 pm. "Hostess" ( college girl with messy hair under a baseball cap) immediately informs us they are CLOSED. No hello no greeting at all, just and abrupt , "We are closed." Huh. Sign says 2 pm?!!! She kinda shrugs us off with a parting comment, "we stop seating at 1:30." News to me, we've been coming here for five plus years and always between 1:30 and 2:00 pm. Never ever had a problem or had anyone tell us about this 1:30 pm seating rule. Ok. But I show her my phone. "it's 1:30 now" and she just shrugs and says sorry. Disappointed, we cruise over to The Farmers Skillet located a few miles away in Chico on Rio Lindo. We strolled in at 1:50 pm, noting they also close at 2 pm. I ask politely if we are too late even though our hostess already has two menus in her hand and a smile on her face. "Not at all," she exclaims and then says "Welcome". Service there was warm, and unhurried. The Roost could learn a lesson here. If your 24/7 policy is to stop serving half an hour prior to closing then it should be posted, and door locked maybe? I know Deja Vu (also in Chico, on the Esplanade) closes at 2 pm and they have the CLOSED sign up with door locked at 1:45 pm. We shan't be returning. Very disrespectful and unnecessary. IF in fact that IS the policy of this diner and not just the whim of a lazy student/hostess then we should still have been seated. It was 1:30 pm as we entered. Shame on management. Know your staff and make sure they are operating with YOUR agenda and priorities, not theirs.
