He then asked if I wanted to remove and replace that tooth too but I would have had to pay for it myself. At that point, I honestly just wanted to leave because I was afraid more damage could happen. I originally went in for work on one tooth that only had a stain. Somehow, I was convinced to replace that tooth, but the process ended up involving shaving down the two healthy teeth next to it in order to place the replacement tooth in the middle. If I had known from the beginning that this was the plan, I would have never agreed to it. Now the chipped tooth has a white mark/stain that people constantly mistake for food stuck between my teeth. On top of that, I was told the dental work would last around 10 years, but it did not even last 6. I'm wondering if anyone else has had a similar experience with this dentist. And then they started to upsell and push a $1,200 cleaning... They were justifying the claim that they look out 5 to 10 years out, also saying they can't do a full cleaning since it will impact the quality of the future specialized cleaning and after they report to insurance I would be locked out and not able to be covered for it in the future if I did not do it today it would be more expensive later over $2k. So of course cleaning was really rushed. I went to my old dentist a month after and they said it looked like my teeth were not cleaned or polished since they last saw me. I sent the X rays/imaging from the visit to a dentist friend and they said it was a very extreme solution for something that can be managed with personal routine changes. They are entitled to their opinion and how they operate as a business nothing against them. This is a heads up if you decide to go in.

After taking my X-rays, they carefully explained everything to me and answered all my questions. I also watched a pre-procedure instruction video, which helped me understand what to expect. When I met Dr. Kim, he was professional, clear, and straightforward. He explained my treatment options concisely and also pointed out potential risks related to my other teeth. After discussing everything together, we decided to take a conservative approach -- remove the wisdom teeth first and monitor the other teeth to see if they could recover over time. I really appreciated being involved in the decision-making process. The surgery itself was excellent. It was my first time receiving anesthesia and having teeth extracted, and I can honestly say I felt absolutely no discomfort. Dr. Kim removed both wisdom teeth efficiently and skillfully. (Yes, I could hear the drill and some hammering sounds -- which was a little funny -- but I felt zero pain.) After the procedure, I followed the instructions carefully, took the prescribed medication, and applied ice as recommended. I have learned there seems to be a recurring issue with insurance transparency here. How is it that…read morea client can provide Delta Dental PPO insurance information ahead of time, have the Laguna Dental Center verify the benefits, along with the website repeatedly referencing that is accepts Delta PPO and being proud to be a PPO dentist. However, I quickly discovered through EOB that the practice was actually NON-PAR/out-of-network, which made the bill to be around $1600. After reading multiple reviews describing similar experiences, it seems this may be a pattern rather than an isolated misunderstanding. Patients deserve clear disclosure of a provider's network status before treatment, especially when insurance information has been provided and verified in advance. It's unfortunate there is such a lack of care for the client.
