Had a terrible experience at Monro Auto Service in Depew on July 26th. They failed my car for NYS inspection, saying my front brakes were "delaminated" and needed replacement, quoting me $860. Just two months earlier, my brakes were inspected at West Herr (with video proof) and were in good condition. To double-check, I brought my car back to West Herr for another inspection. They confirmed my brakes were fine and I passed with no issues. This experience shows Monro is either completely untrustworthy in their inspections or deliberately trying to upsell unnecessary repairs. Steer clear I took my car to Monro on Transit for a knocking noise in the engine. After waiting all day (took off of work) and by late afternoon I was told they couldn't fix it and to take it to the dealer and it was not their problem. Meanwhile they told me it was not safe to drive and the cost for the dealer to fix would be $2.000. After I drove the car to the dealer they told me I was lucky the car made it and they provided a second opinion on the unprofessional and unsatisfactory work Monro did. They ripped me off - they charged almost three times what I've paid anywhere else for a oil change. They took forever and tried to upsell me saying I needed over $800 worth of work, then when declined it and I looked at the paperwork everything was fine. read more

Took my car in to get inspected. Wanted $1,339 for rear brakes and calipers. They wanted the same amount of money from the guy being serviced before me, but they needed all four brakes, an oil change, and other service. When I told them I wasn't paying that much they put the wheels back on and tightened them way too tight. They stripped the screws and nuts or. Brought husbands 2005 Honda Pilot for NYS inspection at your Store #7084126 location in Depew at 4872 Transit Rd. Estimate #189486. Manager, James Cooper said it did not pass due rear brake system needs repair, and front end struts need to be replaced, along with a tail light. Total was $973 rear brakes and front strut or $1460 for rear brakes and 2 front struts. We found this quite excessive and was told by a neighbor to visit their mechanic. We did, and he said that the brakes and struts would definitely pass inspection. We also took it to my brothers mechanic all the way in Lockport, at Hillman's. He also said the same thing. That is absurd. My nephew worked for your company a few years ago, so I trusted his opinion and workmanship. He no longer works for Monro. We took had a muffler and pipe put on our car. It had no problems when we took it in other than the muffler. Within 15 minutes of driving the emissions light came on. The car started running rough. Computer report shows oxygen sensor problem. We returned on Monday( service was done on Saturday). We got attitude from the employees and total denial of any fault. Absolutely, no help. If they worked for me this would have been their last day. We cannot prove they were at fault but.... Huge coincidence! Of course, they don't fix that type of problem so, on to another repair shop and waiting until Friday for an appointment. UGH! read more

Terrible service. Attitude of the gentleman behind the desk was as if he had never worked with people before and that we were an irritation coming in on a slow day. Had oil changed and they also rotated the tires. A week later car was making noise only to find that I was missing two lugs in my front wheel and the other three were barely on. Took the car back to the shop and was given the same horrible customer service and was pointed to the "Bring Back After 25 Miles" warning on the receipt. However this was supposed to be initialed by myself after it was explained, neither of which happened even after I had mentioned it was a new car to me (thus would not know anything about the alloy wheels needing to come back to be retorqued). Piss poor attitude all the way around, would not come back to this location. Noticed the "Under New Management" sign on the door. Sincerely hope this gentleman wasn't the "New Management" or this location is in for even more poor reviews. Last time I take any of my vehicles to a Monro location. read more

Went here for an my state inspection because I had one day and couldn't get a last minute appointment at my place and I was leaving town for 6 days. Guess they saw me coming! Told me I needed $500 worth of work to fix my "leeway pistons" in the front by the wheels and they would pass my SUV. He tried to explain what it was and show it to me on some diagram that they had hanging on the wall...we went over to look and "surprisingly" he goes oh actually it's not in this diagram....it's not pictured here. I was getting very leery after this and just told him I don't have the money to do that kind of repair. Thankfully they didn't charge me for the inspection but....he said oh that's fine the state gives you a 10 day leeway to get your inspection done and if you do get a ticket they will revoke it once you prove that you got your inspection thank goodness I looked that up because none of that is true! Not in NY state anyway! Well I called my regular mechanic begged them to please squeeze me in and thank God I did because when I explained to him what the other guy said he said he had no idea what he is talking about...he asked me if it was this or that and I said no...I wrote it down...mainly because I wasn't given any print out of this information and I wanted to research this...also I didn't want to forget it. My mechanic looked at my SUV AND it past inspection because nothing was wrong with it...which I figured because I was just there a few weeks ago well before my inspection was due and my SUV got a clean bill of health! I purchased a used 2002 Trailblazer and after two day developed a power steering fluid leak took it there and was told all the hoses needed to be replace at a cost of over $1000.00 WITH my "discounts" . Didn't have them do it. And as it needed an inspection and the check Eng. light was on I had to have that fixed and turned out was the cooling fan which I replaced and at that time I checked the hoses and found them to be in pretty good shape. After getting the light to go off I checked for the leak and found it was the low pressure hose that ran on top of the frame behind the drivers tire that had been rubbing on the frame causing the line to wear.Costing less than $4.00 for two ft. of neoprene hose and a little elbow grease it's not leaking and saved myself over $1000.00. The manager was a rude and obnoxious slob and would tell customers that were standing in front of him to wait while he answered the phone than look up parts and prices while the customers would be waiting to pay and leave meanwhile their car was running out side the door. I have had business with them on other occasions with other management but after this last visit I WILL NOT RETURN TO THAT LOCATION! OH and $45.00 for a pre-inspection too see what was needed for passing inspection.AGAIN, I WILL NOT RETURN TO THAT LOCATION! read more
