I recently called and spoke with Jimmy because, with the harsh winter and my limited availability due to work, I needed to schedule an appointment outside of normal work day hours. Jimmy was able to accommodate me with a Saturday morning appointment, which I truly appreciated. As promised, when I arrived, I was greeted right away and my car was taken in promptly -- even though they were short a technician that day. The work began almost immediately, and the car was completed within the time frame Jimmy had given me. Thus...I didn't spend my entire morning in the waiting room. While I was there, Jimmy was friendly and professional, not only with me but with other customers as well. He kept everyone updated and created a welcoming atmosphere. When my service was finished, he clearly explained what had been done and provided an update on the overall condition of my car. He also made sure the courtesy inspection was completed, including topping off fluids like the windshield washer fluid. Munroe is lucky to have Jimmy. Needed a new set of tires. Ordered them online and had them shipped here because this location was highly rated by customers on the website I ordered from. I was able to make an appointment online was ease and then called the day prior to my appointment to ensure my shipment arrived. The day of the appointment, I was greeted by Vinny, who made sure I was comfortable because I was going to wait while my car was being serviced. He took my car right away, checked on me and kept me updated the entire time. The waiting area was basic but I wouldn't expect more from an auto repair shop. It was air conditioned, quiet and there were outlets I could access so I could get some work done. I had new tires put on along with computerized balancing. I was expecting to spend at least 3-4 hours waiting, but my car was ready in about 2 hours. When my car was finished, Jimmy went over what was done and ensured I was happy with my service. We chatted for a bit as I was paying and he was warm, friendly, and easy to talk to. I drove my car away and it felt great and the balancing was on point. I've since had zero issues with the service. The price for service was very good and in competition with other local tire shops. I would highly recommend this location for your tire needs - ask for Jimmy. 3 months later, I have one tire that needs replacement due to hitting a crater-sized pothole. I have been going to this place for awhile since moving to Quincy. I never looked at the reviews before but they don't really shock me - I was looking for a new place to go to. I used to go to Monro's in Medford when I was living there and their service was the best. I came in to the Quincy location a few weeks ago and Jimmy from Medford was moved there! Now that Jimmy is there though I am sure the place will turn around. Real nice guy, maybe the only one there who knows what he's talking about, truly cares about his customers. Used to be good. Easy job balancing tires. Now it makes a rubbing noise. Returning, waiting 3 hours, he tells me he spun the tires and thinks I'm crazy. Your credit card company can't help with reimbursement. It was cheap. Now I will go somewhere else to fix the problem they caused. read more

I wish I had the reviews before I went to this place. I went in on Halloween to get a tire plugged (or buy a new one if necessary). A tire that was 1-yr old had a slow leak. They plugged the tire and assured me it would last. I was so grateful, I even tipped the guy $5. I must have asked at least three times (since I was prepared to buy a tire) if they were suuure the patch would last. They ASSURED me it would. Two weeks later, tire had a slow leak. Called AAA who filled it with air, thinking maybe it was just the tire pressure from the cold. A week later (today), flat(ish) again. Called Monro, told them they plugged the tire, told them I needed a new one. They sad they would take the price I paid for the plug off the price of the tire. Asked what time I could come in, and I said 1 or 4:30 (or whatever worked for them if those times didn't work). They said come in at 1. Went down, and Anthony tells me there are two big jobs before mine, and I could leave the car and come back. I told him I had nowhere to go, and I would just wait. He says something about the tire guy going to lunch and about how I could hang out at a nearby restaurant... I had to get back to work (at home) and said if it was going to be a few hours, I could come back at 4 (like I had originally suggested). He's looking on his computer and THEN says, "And I have to make sure I have the tire." So, he told me (at about 9 a.m.) to come in at 1, had two "big jobs" when I arrived, and didn't have a tire to put on the car. He then said it would be just as long to put my spare on, "Sorry." Anthony didn't seem sorry. So I wasted 45 minutes of my time driving there and back on a low tire when I could have called AAA to put on a spare (which is what I had to do when I got home). Thanks, Monro! You suck, and I will never give you my business again, nor will anyone who asks if I know an auto/tire place. Maybe get your shit together. read more

Jimmy did a Phenomenal job I had a new tire put on and he convinced me to get another front tire and an alignment because I really needed it. He was such a great help. I arrived and they said we don't see you but we can take you in. I drop off my car and leave. Get a call 10m later that they can't take my car so I have to go back. Reschedule. Whatever your service issue is, DO NOT take your car to Monro Auto Service & Tire Centers in Quincy MA. 1 star is too high for this awful place. This business should be shut down immediately. They rip customers off as well as provide awful service to vehicles. My experience with these thief's below: I recently went to Monroe Auto Service and Tire Center on Adams Street In Quincy to get new tires and brakes installed on my vehicle ($1200 +). As soon as I drove my car off of the lot, my entire dashboard was lit up with hazard lights (i.e. Anit-lock brakes, blindside detection etc. all not working). I was in a rush to get out of there and I wasn't able to give them a call to address the issue until a few days later. When I was finally able to bring my car back into Monroe, Anthony tried to claim that I hit something and that's how the issue with my car came to be. Anthony claims they didn't break anything, and will not fix the issue for free. I even made sure to get a second opinion from a different shop who told me that they most likely broke the part, causing those functions of the vehicle to not work, when changing the breaks. I was also told, there is no way something flew up into that area of the car to break that part which goes against the lie the Monroe service member was pushing on me. Now I will have to spend several hundred dollars elsewhere to fix the issue that Monroe caused and is refusing to make right. This is a classic bad auto shop, ripping customers off. Save your money, time, and energy and find another auto service location. read more

This is the WORST oil change I have ever seen. I ignored bad reviews on yelp, I gave them one chance to do my car. I was stupid. I opened the hood and checked everything, and I was shocked. Oil go everywhere in the engine, hoses, power steering, wiring harness,(in Prius...), front cover, etc. They said it just split and just clean it. should be ok. no excused. I came on Sept 23rd to get an oil change. I am a regular and have visited multiple times. This time the oil change was not done correctly and there was a lack of communication on the technician leaving a light on. I was informed they don't know how to reset the light and that they would need more time because all the cars are very different and they need my manual in order to be sure. Later after pointing out to the manager Josh Haaland the process could be different and communication better he mentioned other customers are more understanding. It has now been over 2 hours of my time and there are no other customers that were in front of me. He blamed everything on his technician as he clearly does not follow up or verify his employees work. He took no ownership and just blamed it on the service mechanic. No credit offered off as well as no apology for the time. However he remembered to try and upsell me as he often does based on when you are due for new services. He recommended a a fluid change at 40K stating I was at 47K and then when I asked him if I had it already he stated he didn't know?? Well why is he recommending if he isn't sure whether my car needs it or not after checking? Not happy and disappointed no apology for wasted time and error. At least that would have shown character to address the issue. I won't be here again even though it's next to my house. This manager cares more about sales than service and it shows. read more

My experience at the Monro Muffler in Quincy, MA was positive. I was hesitant to bring my car here, based on the negative reviews I read, but I'm glad I took the chance. The new manager, Justin, seems committed to rebuilding the shop's reputation by providing quality customer service I went to Monro because my car was making a loud noise when in motion. I previously had my car serviced at the Mattapan location, but that location closed. I thought this was the brake pads, and brought the car into be serviced. Justin, the manager gave me a reasonable quote. Justin showed me how worn the pads and brakes were. Once the pads were replaced, my car still made the noise. Justin apologized for not realizing that the noise was coming from a missing bearing, not the pads. I went back to the shop the next day, and the bearing was replaced at no additional cost. read more

I went here to get my snow tires put on, they fit me in right before a big snow storm. Josh was very helpful and polite. Turns out, my tires were worn beyond the legal limit, which he showed to me. He called around to several locations to get the snow tires for my car and the price was the same as I saw on google at other places, like Walmart. He was so patient, I was indecisive about what I wanted to do and whether to buy all season or snow tires, he went over the best options and pricing. I opted for new snow tires and the extra $100 or so for the full package, which includes lifetime free installation (mount AND balance), which will pay for itself after 2 seasons. He and his team stayed late to put the tires on and found a leaky valve (which explains the low tire pressure light going off frequently) and replaced that for $15. Also, I had been told by another shop that I needed new brakes and rotors, but Josh inspected them and confirmed the brakes are actually in good shape. He seems like a good, honest guy. read more

Absurd that the Monro in Quincy, MA (Adams Street) will not schedule an oil change. We've been going there for years (with mixed results), but have always gone back due to the ease of the location. My wife called twice to schedule an oil change over the past few days, and they said that they are not scheduling them and it's only first come, first served. Also, the car would most likely have to be left all day.They said they'll be too busy on the weekend, and to try a week day. This comes on the heels of this shop a) over charging my son (putting synthetic oil in his Kia - charging him over $50 for that one), and then b) not tightening my cap at the bottom of my car after my last oil change (causing me to have to go to a different shop to diagnose why my oil was leaking). We're absolutely done with place, they obviously do not want our business. The management is terrible and will not go back - ever. read more

Make an appointment for oil change yesterday over the phone for today at 4:00pm, I arrived fifteen minutes early and when I walk in to the service desk they told me I didn't have any appointment and I wasn't in the system and try to reschedule my appointment to next Tuesday. Also they close at 5pm and he told me all the technicians have already left the store what type of business is this, it seems like a family owned store which they can close or leave work whenever they want. I bought 4 new tires a few months ago from this location they were a pleasure to work with. I was sold on the road hazard warranty-not thinking I'd use it but just for peace of mind. Yesterday I popped my tire over two hours away and they did not have a tire available in the area. I called this location and spoke with Anthony- he remembered me and we talked through a game plan of options. He was kind professional and helped alleviate some of my stress as I was trying to figure out logistics. He offered to help me connect with another Monro to get another tire under the warranty but it was almost closing time so I decided just to have the car towed to Quincy. He ordered the tire for me before he closed up so they could fix it first thing in the morning. They made what would have been a very stressful situation turn into a positive experience. I felt like they really cared about my situation and I was treated with great customer service. I am happy I bought from here and went with the lifetime warranty. They also plugged two tires for no charge on two separate occasions. Update- I think this place changed managers again. I was in there the other day and it was a nightmare. Made an appointment to bring my car in to have new tires put on. Seemed like no one knew who was working the front desk, as I waited for 10 minutes to have someone notice I was there. They then told me it would take a few hours for them to put them on. After 2 hours I got a call that they are swamped and couldn't get to my car today and they won't be open tomorrow to do it either. They are plain awful.) **This is a serious forewarning about this company.** I went there last week to have my back brakes repaired. I asked *only* for brake pads. Since I work all day, I left my car with him. I was supposed to be called during the day with an estimate and was not. The manager (Ralph) went ahead and replaced pads AND rotors without my permission. That's just the beginning. Since my car was given back to me, I have been having problems with my *front* shocks. They were not supposed to touch the front of my car. I took the car back yesterday to look at it and they denied both of the above issues. He claimed he called me and left a message with an estimate. I pulled up my phone records and I have no call from him on that day. He looked at the shocks and said there was a problem with my front right strut. He said it was impossible it was their fault since they only worked on the back. These morons VERY likely either messed something up to make money, or threw my car on the lift haphazardly. I will now have to buy a new strut/shock with my own money, since there is no proof. (In summary: Not only did I get charged for work I did NOT ask for or approve, now I will have to buy a new part because of these j-asses.) I am appalled by the practices here, and I am putting in a formal complaint with the GM, RM, or whoever else I can get in contact with. This store practices slimy, sleazy business practices that cause stress I wouldn't wish upon my worst enemy. Ladies please do not go here. You WILL be ripped off. I used to go here for my oil changes and if I needed brakes. The people that used to work here were so nice and honest. The new manager with white hair is a thief. My muffler was making noises so I went there to get it fixed. The manager said it would cost $1000. I almost died. He said that I needed a whole new muffler system and that there were holes in my system. I said ok I'll come in another day this week. I came in a few days later and asked about it again. He said it would be $800 he likes to tell people a higher price just in case. Just in case what? I was still shocked and upset. My husband told me to go to the place he went to before for his car. So I did. I went to another muffler shop in Quincy and they said they can replace a part that was rotted out for $95. Nothing was wrong with my muffler or the system it belonged to. NO holes like Monro said. They would have replces the whole system with a cheaper one that I woould have to replce every 2-3 years. What a racket they have there. They have Ladies Day on Wednesday so we can get our oil changed at a cheaper rate. The reason they do this is so they can rip us off with "other" things they "find" wrong with our cars. This place will rip off most women because we don't know anything about cars. How dare they do this!!! Monro you just lost my buisness!!! I hope others don't go here either. I don't know how this place get's the business it does. No matter how desperate you are, resist temptation for the sub $20 oil change and take your precious car elsewhere. I have had a series of bad experiences at this place and never learned. Usually it was the more typical excessive waits for an oil change or trying to upsell me on unnecessary services.The last straw for me was when they overtightened my oil pan and stripped it costing me more than I'd care to mention. I wish you could give negative stars and I considered contacting the BBB for the first time in my life about these guys. I went for an oil change, they decided to rotate my wheels, but then broke something taking them off which they tried to charge me for fixing. I threatened to call the police. They then gave me a quote for $3000 worth of repairs my $2000 car needed (all new struts, new exhaust system, new air conditioning unit, all new brakes and rotors), and one of the employees tried to sell me a part under the table which I can only assume he had stolen. I guess it felt pretty good when I got these repairs done for less than $400 elsewhere, so that was something positive. After 40 minutes of waiting for an oil change an employee comes running out of the garage all sweaty dropping F bombs everywhere and tells me that the oil has been changed but the pan needs to be replaced. He then tells me that the next oil change will be impossible, and gives me a $300 quote for a "necessary" repair. And he even went as far to blame the last guy who did the oil change, which was them -.- After that and a few other experiences I decided to do my own oil changes, and I come to find out that they lied. My car had an issue on a SUNDAY- the day notorious for shops not being open. Luckily Monro was open. I spoke with Pat about my car and he suggested i bring it in for a second vehicle diagnosis. He told me what was wrong, how to fix it and quoted me a price. Upon telling me it would be a quick fix, i said okay. he told me he was trouble finding the correct part but another person jumped in to help and found it. In and out in 1.5 hours! Do not go here! I have had 2 awful experiences at the Quincy location. 1. Had a nail in my tire so I went to get it patched. Less than a week later, I get a flat tire on Morrissey Blvd with my 2 month old in the car. I am just thankful I was in slow traffic with a place to pull off. Imagine if I was on 93? 2. After calling for several days to see if I could get an oil change, I decided to make an appointment online. They confirmed the appointment for 9:30am (the earliest they had). I took the morning off work only to arrive and be told "we can't take you until 11am." No phone call to let me know they couldn't take me at my confirmed appointed time, just a suggestion to come back or come during the weekend. I work full time. I have a child. I took the time out of my day to get this done and they blow me off. Do yourself a favor and go somewhere else. read more

****Highly do not recommend this place.*** If I could give this place zero stars I would. Absolutely no motivation with any of the workers, manager Josh is always huffing and puffing like customers are disturbing him, and the work they do is absolutely ridiculous! They gave me a battery for my 4x4 that was suited for a sedan which lasted a year and three months. I brought it to another auto shop and the mechanic let me know the battery currently in my car is a crappy battery not meant for a 4x4. I also had a nail in my tire Monroe patched up with a "rope" plug which stretched the hole causing a slow leak. I brought my car back to Monroe a month later so they could take a look. The manager Josh said they took the tire off and found no leak and that it should be good to go. The leak continued so I brought it to another mechanic to take a look and he let me know the patch was patched via a rope plug and the tire is now ruined. Now as I'm sitting arguing with Josh to replace the tire so we won't need to keep coming back he refuses to eat the $250 and send us on our way as happy customers. There have been two customers that have walked out waiting for service but since we're taking to long they've decided to take their business elsewhere. Bad service. Customers aren't their top priority. Take your business else where if you don't want the run around. read more

I have been coming here to do oil changes for a while now. The honest reason why I went here was because it's so cheap. Recently I went in to get an alignment and an oil change. I received a call not even an hour after dropping off my vehicle stating that I had to get other parts in my car fixed and they wouldn't do the alignment unless I got them fixed. The other car parts would have cost me an additional 1,100. They were willing to do it the same day. Which I thought was weird since its so hard to book a simple cheap oil change. But a $1,100 job that wasn't planned and is super intricate they can do it the same day? I think what bothered me most was the fact that it seemed really pushy. My husband works in the automotive field so we decided to go with someone trustworthy. Come to find out, the other car parts are really not necessary and we got our alignment done. We should have done that from the very beginning. If you still decide to go here just make sure they reset your oil change light when you get an oil change since they forgot to do that to my car multiple times.
