    Single Chili Rellenos

Another great recommendation from my son! We were immediately greeted by the friendly staff and directed to our table. Our waters, chips and salsa were served quickly. The chips were crisp, seasoned just right and the salsa was delicious; perfectly spiced! My cheese chili rellenos were a little burnt on one end but the rest of quite tasty. The beans and squash dish were great. My son's burrito was huge and he throughly devoured it. I like the layout of the restaurant; nothing fancy but very comfortable. The staff was so attentive and polite; we never ran out of water.

Food needs more flavor, and portions are smaller than other new mexican restaurants. I've sat down inside and have had to go orders and always felt a bit hungry after eating my meals. Typically, I have leftovers, which is nice to have the next day but not here. This feels like it is geared toward older folks who prefer to have smaller plates that have mild chile. For the price, I could get the same meal elsewhere and get more full with half the food. I definitely like to support local restaurants, but if the prices were lower, I would consider coming back otherwise I'll choose other places in town who have more flavor and bigger portions.

I've been to a couple different Monroe's locations and it's always really good. This time I got the Super Combination, the star of the show was the taco. Kinda wished I had gotten just a taco plate. Sopapillas are good. Bonus points for carrying local beer. They serve it with a frosted mug. Wish they had chicharrones.

Decent NM grub here. As it turns out, I'd been to their sister location in downtown ABQ about a year ago and liked it okay. So the pluses first: . I really liked how their menu is not overwhelming. They stick to the basics. Super friendly service. Quick service. Salsa was easy to eat - not too hot. The cons: I said "yes" when the server asked if I wanted chips and salsa. The basket of chips was appropriately smaller since I was dining by myself. But I didn't realize I was going to be charged $4.95 for a very small order of chips and salsa. I felt ripped off by this. Pre-packaged hard taco shells? The chile relleno was excellent - great batter, quite large, and I ordered it christmas-style. Their red chile is smooth and creamy - really delicious. They only serve wine and beer here - which is not meant to be a con. But I spent $24 for one taco, a relleno, one beer, and chips/salsa. I always want to support local businesses, but I did feel this was pretty pricey for what I got.

Surprisingly basic/fast food atmosphere BUT 5 stars for the sopapillas, vegan & gluten-free menu, & green chili sauce! Take a jar home, too!

Double stuffed chile relleno plate. One stuffed with carne adovada and the other stuffed with ground beef smothered in red chile!

This is a popular place that I'm barely getting to try today. Let's start with the service. When we walked in we were seated immediately and given drinks, chips and salsa. Our waiter was friendly and helpful with the menu and recommendations. I got the double chile relleno plate stuffed with carne adovada and ground beef. My son got their famous GCCB and it looked great. He said it was really good but that he should've got the double. My daughter is now a big fan of Monroe's just because of their carne asada fries that she liked so much. Why 4 star and not 5? Although the food was tasty it was a little pricey for the portion size. Our waiter kind of forgot about us after awhile and we never got refills and our check took a long time to arrive. Other than that I would eat here again no problem. Two thumbs up from me on this beautiful Father's Day weekend!

The menu initially sounded creative, especially the waffles featuring pepitas, quinoa, and blue corn, which led me to assume that the same thoughtful use of ingredients would carry throughout the rest of the menu. The blue corn enchiladas were the clear highlight and were genuinely delicious. Unfortunately, the red sauce served alongside them tasted noticeably canned. I had hoped for a fresh, house-made sauce that would complement the quality of the enchiladas. The calabacitas were also barely seasoned and could have benefited from much more flavor. The eggs Benedict was disappointing. The addition of a sausage patty made it feel more like a typical American breakfast than the regional and authentic dish I had expected. Many of the available sides were also potato-based, mainly hash browns or French fries, which made the menu feel less varied and imaginative. The blue corn porridge was acceptable, and the generous amount of berries helped bring the dish together, but the porridge itself could have been much more flavorful. There is plenty of potential here, particularly if more attention were given to fresh sauces, seasoning, regional ingredients, and a wider variety of side dishes. The service was good, and the meal overall was fine, but based on my experience, it was not distinctive enough to justify making a special trip.

I have been to the one in Santa Fe, but thought I'd try this one. Not a big crowd for lunch during the week, got seated right away and in the back which was nice. Didn't take long to have the waiter come and ask me what I wanted. Food came really quick and was a big portion for the "lighter side" choice. The food tasted great and my waiter was on top of checking on me after I got my food to Ask how it was, refilling my drink getting me a to go container and bringing me my check. Service was great. The only issue I have was the womens bathroom was not available. When I got there they said it would be just a few minutes, approximately 10 min. That did t happen. The manager said I could use the men's restroom and she would guard the door so nobody came in. But that was not something I was wanting to do. The bathroom never became available while I was there.
