The broth was very flavorful without being overly salty or oily, and the texture of the noodles was perfect! I also got the gyoza, chicken karaage, and the potato croquette. I like that this spot is incredibly reliable in that there is no wait for a table and food items are cheap. They are still in their "Grand Opening" phase therefore there are constant $10 specials. It seems their curry rice with 3 kurobuta sausages has been on their $10 special items for some time. Although cheap, I do not really prefer sausages and curry. Their Pork Cutlet Curry for $13 is where it's at though. The helping isn't monstrous like another choice Ramen spot's curry rice down a ways, but it is still more than enough food. The pork is succulent and breading is tight and lightly crisped. The curry sauce is smooth, deep in richness, and with an occasional surprise of a piece of beef here and there. Ordering is via a QR code, but they have menus for those who do not possess the technological know how. Parking is terrible in the plaza, but I am pretty pro about parking in and around Convoy. I saw Monsta Ramen pop on on social media and decided to give it a try during their Grand Opening week because of their special prices. All in all, the food was pretty good for the price! The food also came out super fast. I was expecting a little bit more authentic Japanese food, and this definitely had an American twist. We had a group of 4 and ordered a bunch of stuff to share. To order, we scanned a QR code and were able to add items to our cart, check out, split the bill, and pay all on our phones. Super easy and user friendly process. Apps: Chicken Gyoza (they were fried but were still pretty good). Tako Yaki (also fried, not made in a Takoyaki pan, so not super authentic). Potato Shrimps (bland, a little boring). Potato Croquette (also bland, boring). Ramen: Tonkatsu Ramen and Miso Ramen (pretty good, but broth was a bit boring). Black Garlic Ramen (the best one in my opinion, broth was very flavorful). I want to preface this review by saying that I only tried this place while ordering curry to go because I was sick and didn't want to interact with anyone. I only got a Chicken Cutlet Curry and the food was ready pretty quickly after I called it in (like 10 minutes)! They text you whenever it's available to pick up. Overall the curry was okay, not my favorite but definitely one of the cheaper ones if you're just feeling lazy and don't wanna cook/spend a lot. I think $13? Not sure about the good reviews but let's get to it. Sadly my group & I weren't impressed. Tonkatsu Ramen ($10 deal): The saltiest ramen I've ever had around convoy a spoonful of that broth has me grabbing my cup of water asap. My group (3) all thought the broth was super salty & it was hard to go back for more. The noodles were quite chewy but not sure if that's just the mochi type of noodles or something. I get the price is a great deal but for $4-5 more I can get a balanced ramen at Menya or Ramen Nagi. Toppings on the ramen, I had no problem with it! Chicken Katsu Curry: It wasn't bad but it wasn't great either. The curry itself was earthy & tasted similar to the Golden Curry cubes you get at the market. Katsu was okay & juicy. Gyoza ($4 deal): Tastes like typical frozen gyoza (which is common everywhere). Came with some soy sauce, just a simple app. Fried Sesame Balls ($4 deal): Red flag, it was clearly undercooked. I've had plenty in my life & of course raw starch dough won't harm me but it was definitely undercooked. Eating that meant super sticky dough sitting around my gums & teeth... Service: It's simple, they seat you & bring your food over. You order through the app & pay. I like the payment system for sure & it's great for groups. I wouldn't say it's "cheap" food but it's just lower by like $4 dollars to regular ramen spots. Cheap doesn't always mean it's good Funny thought: for a restaurant with the word "ramen" in it, it doesn't seem like it's the specialty especially when you walk in only smelling curry? The place was clean and offered a QR code with a menu ordering system. Our server was incredibly attentive and made sure that everything was going well. There are a few deals since their grand opening, such as $10 tonkotsu ramen or $1 sausage. Here is what I tried: Black garlic tonkotsu ramen: I absolutely love black garlic and thought this was a great option. The garlic flavor was strong, the soup was flavorful, and the noodles had a nice bite to it. It was a solid ramen, probably not the BEST ramen I've ever had but for $13 this was already REALLY good. The amount you get is very worth (but those curry plates are HUGE, seems like that's even more worth your money). Gyoza: Was 20% off for grand opening, so $4. The gyoza were small but nice and crispy. A solid appetizer and not bad for the price. Sausage: For a dollar that was a pretty good sausage. Comes with ketchup. Gyudon with egg: The meat was well-seasoned and slightly sweet, the egg was nice and fluffy, and the rice was soaked with the gyudon sauce. I thought the size was a good amount and had a lot of meat. Similar to gyudon I've had in Japan. Would love to try their curry next time!
