For the entree, I got Grilled pork vermicelli noodles and Grilled chicken rice plate. As a Vietnamese, I love my food very tasty and flavorful, and they exceeded my expectations. I've been to Monster Pho many times and each time I've gone back I feel like the quality is getting worse. We order shrimp spring rolls and the shrimp had a very fishy taste to it, almost questionable to eat. New location!! I've been to their old spot on Broadway St (a block away from here) multiple times, and loved their food and service. When I found out from a friend that they had robots this time, I had to check it out. Upon walking in, I noticed all the cool decor and merch all around. You scan the QR code for the menu and then pay on there afterwards. We got the vegetable pho and beef pho. The broth was very tasty and portion size is huge for what you pay. I didn't think the pho was hot enough to my liking. Also should have told them not to add any onions since the entire bowl was almost full of it. I did really like the robots serving us the water. Officially found my FAVORITE Vietnamese restaurant ever! Pho is one of my favorite foods, but most of the time, the vibe/atmosphere at pho restaurants is a bit boring. The vibe/atmosphere at Monster Pho is honestly the best I've experienced at any restaurant EVER, which is why I've had to come back two times since my first visit despite living an hour away. It will always be worth the drive! First of all, I was glad it was easy to find parking nearby. When I walked in, I was amazed at how beautiful the entire restaurant was! It was designed and decorated SO thoughtfully and beautifully. Everything was branded with the adorable green Monster mascot/logo and there were so many awesome touches like a little monster house, photo booth, games, framed photos, and so much more. (BTW, they even have merch that is SUPER cute!!! I'm going to buy some next time I visit. They have clothing, hats, and even the monster plushies!) Since the most recent time I went was around Lunar New Year, the restaurant was also decorated for LNY and they were giving out free oranges to customers to celebrate! So sweet and thoughtful! The service here was incredible as well. They have robots to bring out most of the food but the staff is also super friendly and interactive. Tee was so welcoming and checked in to make sure we were enjoying the food, and answered our questions when we were deciding on what to order and asked him for recommendations. The food here is honestly THE BEST. I love pho and have eaten at numerous pho restaurants throughout the Bay Area, but this spot is my absolute favorite. Put my name down on the waiting list as everyone was here on a rainy day. As I was waiting, every corner of this place was so intricate to explore. They have 2 photo booths, one on each end. My phone was dying so surprisingly I found a charging corner, WIN (located to your right as you enter the door). Got seated but sadly our table didn't get greeted by their robots - yes, they have robots here to bring out food and drinks from your order. QR code as menu, simple and straightforward. I haven't had pho in a while so it was nice to enjoy a bowl on a rainy day. I just wish the broth was hotter since mine wasn't hot enough. Oh also, usually pho only comes with 1-2 pieces of tripe but not this place. I chose tripe as one of my 3 toppings and they do not skimp out on tripes!! Their iced Vietnamese coffee was great, though I wish it came out dripping than already made for you. Their winter melon pandan iced tea was refreshing, not too strong on the pandan flavor. Alright, onto what I got most excited about. I was literally a kid in the candy store except in a restaurant. Every inch of this place was enticing because of all their cute merch! As you pan your vision down, they have claw machine, retro capcom arcade games, gachapon, and an entire merchandise section towards the back of the restaurant (near the restroom). They have a vending machine where you can rotate to see all the goodies they have. So PLEASE ASK THE STAFFS ABOUT THEIR MERCHANDISE cause I sure did and since there were no catalog or indications that they were for sale. I purchased a deck of cards and asked if their red envelops were on sale because their mascot was so adorable - they said yes!! $10 for a pack of 10 red envelops. They were also very sweet and gifted me stickers and fridge magnets. Lastly, there was this mini claw machine (very kid friendly) where the instruction on the wall states: 1) finish your food, 2) parents have to say yes, 3) get a free token from the staff to play. Though this was for kids 10 & under, heck, I was the kid. So we shamelessly asked the staff if I can have a token to play and when they handed me the token, it also had a mascot on it. So of course I kindly ask if I can keep it -precious eye emoji- and they said yes (they typically don't give them out because they don't have many left since it's a customized token)! So THANK YOU!! It's been a few years, but I'm glad to be back at monsterpho new location - it's simply the cutest pho spot in the BAY! A must-visit for all you IG foodies! I am a big spring roll girl and their rolls were so beautifully made, unlike mine -uneven and lopsided lol. We were sad we missed their popular 24 hr beef bone pho, which is only available during the weekends. BUT their Monster Pho Combo was really good, just like how my grandma used to make it but better - don't tell my grandma. lol If you're indecisive about what to order? I originally heard about Monster Pho while reading an article from SF.Eater.com, Ayesha and Steph Curry who gave towards the owners generosity to the community, by feeding those in need with free bowls of pho. I can really see how involved Monster Pho is in helping their seniors and many in the neighborhood. In fact while I was at the restaurant, they were planting tomatoes in the front so those who could use them, like many seniors in the area could pick them freely. These things alone made me appreciate this restaurant. If there's anything Oakland needs is people who care. That being said, how was the restaurant and food itself? It's very spacious with nice distancing between tables. Ordering system is simple through the QR code and app. After ordering the food, a robot will deliver the water. Pho is delivered by the waiters. The vermicelli dishes and appetizers are delivered by the robots which is fun. So we ordered: Beef Pho: flavorful broth. Meat was a little skimpy in my opinion but I did order the regular sized bowl. Overall a decent bowl of pho. Imperial Rolls: I can't get too descriptive with these. The were crunchy fried delicious. Watch out for the first bite, you'll burn the skin right off your lips. Monster Vermicelli: this is a combination of grilled pork, chicken, shrimp, beef and another imperial roll. I really liked this dish and it will satisfy those with big appetites. The people working here are very accommodating and like I said previously, they are good hearted people. We frequently get the craving for Vietnamese food, and usually end up going to Ben Tre in South San Francisco to satisfy it. But since we were in the East Bay, we decided to find a closer place and gave Monster Pho a try! When we arrived, there were robots that brought waters directly to our table, which was super cool! We were a bit disappointed when the cute robots didn't bring us the bowl of pho, but the human service was very pleasant and attentive. We got the large beef pho with brisket, flank, and rare steak ($15), which comfortably fed 2 of us. I thought the meat was good, but the broth was a bit light in flavor. Overall, we didn't think it was as good as Ben Tre, but it was still a decent bowl of pho and we're glad we got to try it! I ordered the Monster Pho with extra noodles. Seconds later, I was delivered my bean sprouts, jalapeños, mint, etc by the robot server! Shortly after, the Monster Pho was delivered to my table. It was indeed a Monster bowl of pho! Great flavor and ALOT of different of meat came with it! Price was a little high but I had to take in consideration of the Bay Area higher prices. On a beautiful Sunday morning, we made a trip across the bay bridge into Oakland to visit Monster Pho. We were able to find a metered parking spot right in front, but it seemed like there's plenty of street parking available in the area. Walking into the restaurant, you instantly see that this is not your usual pho restaurant. The walls and restaurant are adorned with the cute Monster Pho mascot and everywhere you look there's a cool sign or picture to look at. Along with the awesome decorations, there are robot servers delivering food and drinks to tables. It was too early in the day for beer, but there is a bar with beer on tap near the entrance as well. The menu has all the Vietnamese cusine basics between pho, vermicelli, and rice plates. The food was delicious and the staff very accommodating. We even had the opportunity to meet Tee, the owner, and he radiated kindness and seems like a great guy. We saw posters and other events that Tee has held to give back to the community like free pho days and a free produce wagon. As we finished the food and walked out, we even saw Monster Pho merchandise available ranging from shirts to bags. How could you not want to grab something with that cute monster on it?? We really enjoyed our experience at Monster Pho and would highly recommend it to anyone looking for Pho in East Bay. Got here before they closed and I was easily seated. It was pretty busy which is always a good sign of a good pho place. The vibe was really cool & even ended up playing street fighter before we were seated. The service was amazing. They were offering to fill up water constantly and the little robots are so cute. And the hint of fried onion added depth and texture. By way of comparison, I am often hesitant to order the vegetarian pho at pho places because it is often an afterthought -- with a few veggies dropped in.
