Had a great experience at the Monstera Teahouse. Didn't try any of the food, but had a refreshing matcha drink and the service was quick and the barista was friendly. The ambiance is beautiful! Lots of pretty monsteras around (just as you would expect!) and plenty of seating available too. I was so surprised to see their extensive menu and was happy to see that it wasn't completely full with a long line, as it was the middle of the day. Will definitely be back to try new items on the menu. No problem with parking and it's a great location as there are a couple of gyms and spas nearby, so it's the perfect spot to get something refreshing after a day of sweating and working out. Will definitely be back!

Huge thanks to Joselyn. She helped us so much with choosing the right drinks. I went with the Brown Sugar Coffee with boba. It was the perfect drink. Perfect coffee drink and not too sweet and fresh boba! The kids got mango and strawberry smoothies with boba and they loved it. Also the place looks so cozy and cute! Love all the fresh indoor plants. It makes the places so lively!

The drinks and dream cakes are my fave but everything is really yummy! It's a family tradition where we get to hang out together, eat, and play games! The staff and owners are friendly and kind

    Ube Taro

Came here recently and loved the space! Great place to hangout. The staff were super friendly and patient while we were deciding (there are so many drink options it took me a minute ). Everything looked good, but I ended up trying the ube taro drink and really liked it! Also got the dream cakes and those were such a good treat to go with the drinks. Overall just a really solid spot, would definitely come back to try more off the menu.

If you're in East LA and craving boba, you have to check out Monstera. Hands down one of the best spots around--great flavors, quality tea, and their drinks are always on point. Definitely worth the stop!

    Receipt for over priced junk

This place consists of overpriced/below average boba. I asked for 2 boba based drinks, matcha and brown sugar. I told the girl to make it about 50% less sugar. She didn't listen. She put the drinks in two separate cups. When I asked why she said "because my boss wants it that way." Never going back here. La Crescenta has a good one. Go there.

Jasmin Jasmine Roasted Oolong Milk Tea

After visiting a nearby spa, I was in the mood for a milk tea and came across this cozy little spot. The shop is small and charming--perfect for a casual hangout with friends or a quick grab-and-go. The staff were attentive and very welcoming, which made for a pleasant first impression. I ordered the iced jasmine oolong milk tea. While I typically enjoy sweeter drinks, this one was a bit too sweet for my taste. The oolong flavor was strong and noticeable, but I couldn't quite pick up the jasmine notes I was expecting. Still, it's a solid option for tea lovers, and I'd be interested in trying other drinks from their menu next time.

The brown sugar milk tea and house viet coffee were very good drinks. Their summer special: mint mango honey dew was just ok (couldn't really taste mint or mango) so I suggest just ordering from their main menu. I like that there are so many real plants inside the store. Nice chill vibes. Would be great if they had some boardgames to borrow. Maybe I'll bring one next time! Parking lot hard to get to if you are trying to make a left turn into oncoming traffic. There's a parking structure right around the corner though and you can take an elevator up to the main floor. Structure is also accessible through the parking lot.

Inside was jazz music but it wasn't as air conditioned as I would have wanted. - Strawberry Matcha Soy 4.7/5 Could have more of a strawberry essence. When mixed it just tastes like matcha.

Brown Sugar Coffee. So incredibly good!

I happened to be at the tire shop across the street getting the tires changed on my car and needed to pick up some pastries for guests that were coming over that same day. One of those guests happens to be a baker so I really needed to find some fresh delicious pastries. I checked Yelp for nearby bakeries and La Jaconde popped up with really great reviews so I drove right across the street and picked up some baked goods. I picked up this big pastry that was stuffed with cream cheese and sour cherries (TRUST ME you want this), a box of mixed cookies and bite sized goodies, and a box of stuffed dates (don't knock it until you try it). EVERYTHING was fresh. Everything was tasty. And it got the stamp of approval from the baker friend. The cream cheese and sour cherry stuffed bakery literally disappeared in 10 minutes, and that thing was not small by any means. I returned to this same place the following week to pick up some savory baked goods for some friends, and the owner was at the shop and was so kind and so proud of his products (as he should be). Needless to say this is going to be my bakery of choice. I'd drive past 5 shops to get to this one any day.

Easy to find something for every kind of sweet tooth: chocolate cakes, cream puffs, tiramisu, cookies, sweet breads, etc. Prices are nicely priced. We got a variety and were happy with everything. I liked seeing that trays of items were completely sold out. Must be good! Service is not the friendliest. It would be better if they got rid of all that junk plastic candy mess on the top of the displays. It makes the small space feel smaller, it pulls away from all the lovely pastries, and the women behind the counter can't even see over it when they ask you what you want.

Her mother texted asking if we could bring pastries. It was after 6 p.m., so I turned to trusty Yelp to see what might still be open between Montrose and our destination. This bakery came up, so we stopped in to give it a try. One gentleman was minding both the bakery and the liquor store next door. It wasn't that busy at either place, but he did have to run between the two. He let us know that he'd be right with us, so we had time to look around. The baked goods cases were about half full at 7:00 at night. The man helping us didn't really know anything about the fillings of some of the items that weren't self-explanatory. He got our selections packed up nicely, but it would have been helpful to be able to get more info about some of the cakes/pastries. SG (age 5) boldly chose a cream puff for herself. I wasn't sure if she would like it, but once we got to her house she happily scarfed down half of it, saving the other half for the next day. Dear Hubby and I picked several layers cake pieces, and I added two chocolate-filled cookies. He went for a cannoli, of which they had several options of fillings. I think our daughter and son-in-law made out the best, as we weren't sure what they would like so we got them some Black & White cake, honey cake, espresso cake, and some of the chocolate-filled cookies. It was a dessert-tasting feast to wind up the weekend when we arrived at their place.

The mango caught my eye with its life-like ombré effect, and the (raspberry) framboise beckoned as well. Mango: Crackly white chocolate coating with tangy mango mousse, with coconut bits and cake on the base. It was a bit sour for my taste, but I tried it as it was one of their most popular items. Frambroise: Rich chocolatey mousse with crunchy bits and raspberry jam. I enjoyed this combo. I watched too many fruit mousse ASMR videos, so I was perhaps a little disappointed when the chocolate coatings did not audibly crunch, but I think it'd need to be placed in the freezer for that effect. The Bronte Sisters. The Jacksons... You win free ice cream on me if you recognize the pattern. Yes, that's right: these are all siblings who have seamlessly worked together in their respective fields. I raise the list to include Mia and Mark Pedersen - the brother and sister team behind the ice creamery Moo Moo Mia with locations in both Montrose and Monrovia. You won't find Mia and Mark bickering or partaking in sibling rivalry; but you WILL find them creating quality, home made ice cream for Angelinos. Mark and Mia made their way from Denmark to Los Angeles in 2009 initially working in a Danish franchise despite both having a background in ice cream-making. When Covid hit in 2020 with its path of destruction to so many businesses; Mark and Mia decided they should cut their losses and create their own company that they can rely on their decision-making and thus Moo Moo Mia was born. Moo Moo Mia strives to produce Grade-A ice cream using crème de la crème ingredients such as milk from Scott Brother Dairy cows (another sibling company where cows roam free on 900 acres and are hormone free producing sensational milk) and offer unique flavor combinations. After a recent poor gelato experience at another LA business; my boyfriend and I decided to reward ourselves with ice cream from Moo Moo Mia on Honolulu in Montrose (this was our second time at this location). Nestled in the charming central Montrose corridor; Moo Moo Mia welcomes with a pastel color wheel façade/signage and a small square footage ice cream shop. When I say 'small'; I genuinely mean small as Moo Moo Mia is tiny with a display case/order counter and a claustrophobic standing room space with a few loose tables outside. This is definitely an "order and get out" establishment. Due to this congestion, Moo Moo Mia felt a bit hectic on both of our visits which always makes one feel guilty to ask for samples in order to not hold up the line. The flavor options at Moo Moo Mia aren't super extensive (there isn't that much to choose from) BUT there do have those unique combinations Mia and Mark boast of with pride. I have sampled a few flavors at Moo Moo Mia such as Honey Lavender (Sweet cream ice cream layered with delicate ribbons of lavender and finished with a touch of raw organic honey - so good with perfect lavender notes!), March flavor of ice cream with Luck Charms marshmallows and Sweet Taro. On our second visit, my boyfriend kept it simple with a single cone ($5.50) of Madagascar Vanilla Bean (Made with imported ground Madagascar vanilla beans) and a kid's cup ($4.25) of March's monthly flavor Coconut Ube for me. Mark and Mia aren't exaggerating about Moo Moo Mia's ice cream as it truly is quite good: creamy, thick and not overly sweet; the texture is perfection. The Honey Lavender holds my heart but the Coconut Ube was also delicious although it tasted of 95% ube with a small 5% after taste of coconut water. Good thing I like Ube! My boyfriend's vanilla was, in his words, "The best vanilla!" and I agree that Moo Moo Mia truly elevates a basic flavor making it extra special. The consensus is that the ice cream is wonderful, no doubt. The customer service at Moo Moo Mia leaves a lot to be desired, however. During both visits the associates were very dry, somewhat curt - although not rude, per se - and are literally only there to get the job done and that's it. Even though this isn't too terrible; it prevents Moo Moo Mia from being a perfect experience. Moo Moo Mia is a delicious and quality option for an ice cream treat that you can truly taste but the lack of numerous flavor options, the teen-tiny shop and the customer service are flaws that keep it from being exceptional. Despite this, Moo Moo Mia is recommended for all ice cream lovers - whether you have a sibling or not!
