4/18/25 Went snowboarding @Kirkwood and had lunch from here. Service was good and quick and it wasn't a crowded day so was able to order quickly and then pay. Have a pass so got a discount on food 20%, it was $20.70 and thats with no drinks. Little pricey but good amount of food . Got the Hot Honey Chicken tenders with fries. Everything was nice and hot and crispy. My pic only shows a couple pieces but they give you about 6 good size pieces I just ate them before pic lol. Everything was seasoned good and had Ranch and Ketchup for dipping. I opted to sit outside and enjoy the beautiful day. All in all was delicious and plenty of food. Enjoy !!!! read more

We were needing lunch and with COVID still around, it's really hard to avoid the crowds even on this "light" crowd weekend. The restaurant had a 40 minute wait if you didn't have a reservation so we walked over to Monte's Wolfe's Mountain Kitchen for a quick bite. At the door, they check for your vaccination card, a picture is enough, and to be honest, they should really be checking IDs alongside the vaccination card because I could've just shown them ANY picture of a vaccination card and they gave me a sticker on my Epic Pass. So do I trust that the people in here are vaccinated? There were slim pickings on what to eat so we just grabbed chicken fingers with fries and a fried chicken sandwich which both were quite expensive, but what isn't at any resort? People seemed to be crowding at tables, luckily we found a spot far from folks but a couple people asked if they could be on the further end, so we said sure. All of a sudden they were joined for 3 more people. Thank goodness the table next to us freed up and we just moved over since we were clearly over taken by this group. The food itself was ok though the chicken fingers more tender and moist than the chicken sandwich. They ran out of ketchup from the pumping machine but they did have packets. I did appreciate the ranch cups. They had some hand sanitizers around. We got free water from the bar. It was fine, but I just didn't feel super comfortable with all the people inside. They had a private bathroom inside which was fine that had 2 stalls for the women. Probably won't be coming back here or making sure to bring our own food so we can dine al fresco. read more

Okay this review is just for the chili and the cornbread. On the day I came, these two items really hit the spot! It comes in a small looking bowl but I was decently full after. The cornbread was crunchy on the outside and moist inside. The chili was flavorful! Obviously this place doesn't have the greatest reviews but hey, I'm judging it knowing it's a ski resort restaurant lol. With the epic pass discount, it was about $10 per bowl. read more

The closing staff was not nice. They locked the entrance 15mins before closing and don't let the customer use the restroom 2mins before closing. One of my kids went in and shut my other kid out of the restroom when she was walking towards it. read more

Monte Wolfe's provides food for the masses in the Kirkwood Village since the Red Cliffs Cafeteria is no longer serving food. The quality of the food is okay, but the menu options seems to vary daily. The most consistently available option is deep fried food. Burgers and hot dogs are not always an option. read more

This place is overpriced, the staff is incompetent, and the selection is terrible. My boyfriend ordered my California Burger and his Epic Mountain Burger together. These plus chili fries and his beer came out to $50. Mine took about a minute to come out - I was really surprised. The bun was cold and stale, the patty very tightly pressed together and barely warm, and and the guac a thin layer of the lowest quality grocery store brand spread thinly across my stale bread. Well, first off, let's be honest, this is a restaurant at a ski resort. We can't have unrealistic expectations... All in all, we had one meal there, and it was quite good for resort food. It was nothing special, a fried chicken sandwich, and some fries. Everything was well season, and crisp. Their burgers look good, but we did not try one. They also had the usual, chili and Pizza. Pricing was normal. The food was hot and well cooked. All in all, it was tasty. Just a disclosure, there is some thing that goes on in Kirkwood where resort properties get lower ratings than independent properties. Please be aware of this bias, and take any review about a property on resort with a grain of salt... I would go back to Monti's, and while I do not appreciate the resort price hike, the food was nourishing and warm. Seating is a bit limited, but they do have a full bar. They do have nice bathrooms, and a water bottle filling station. I imagine it would be a pretty fun place for après ski. Parking is very limited, as it is in all of Kirkwood... It is located right at the base of the chairs, so is extremely convenient for skiers. read more

Obviously this place is no culinary masterpiece but you can't tell me they don't have excellent French fries! Extra salty, crunchy, fluffy on the inside - just the fries you want for an afternoon snack. Also their chicken tenders hit the spot after being on the slopes for hours. The pre-made sandwiches they had did look kind of sad but if you stick to the fries and tenders you can't go wrong. read more

This is your typical food express at a resort, the one where they serve just about everything from burgers and sandwiches to hot potatoes and pasta. This is a great stop over for lunch, or even breakfast as they have a huge selection of hot and cold drinks and juices as well. They also have a full bar for those end of the day wind down periods, but they do operate only during the day time hours from 8:00 AM - 4:00 PM so don't linger around for too long. They have delicious hot chocolate and for $3.00, it was the best $3.00 I spent at Kirkwood! read more

I can't say many positive things about this place. They had some nice looking salads in a refrigerator case near the cash registers. Sadly I didn't purchase one. I spent $13.60 on some bland mushy chili in a stale bread bowl instead. Not a good choice! Eating here reminded me of one of those old westerns where the cowboy has to request a clean glass from the bartender because the bar is so grimy. Then the bartender spits into a shot glass and wipes the dirt out with a soiled rag... Not that Monte Wolfe's is dirty, it just reminds me of that movie scene. The only saving grace was that I could get free toppings on my chili. I asked for shredded cheese, bacon, and sour cream on top of mine. None of them helped very much. I don't think anything could. The chili had the texture of paste, sparsely sprinkled with mystery meat, and some crunchy beans. My hope for a decent bread bowl (Yes, I eat the bread bowls) faded after the first bite. It was dry and had clearly been sitting for a long time. I had flush it down with water it was so dried out. I'd like to say I got something positive from this dining experience. I've been coming to kirkwood for over 25 years. When this place was built I was stoked that there a food place right by the ski lift. I mean the food is not bad and not amazing. It's just run of the mill food. Nothing really wows you. Unfortunately this season they cut back on the food selection because I'm guessing the lack of business. During the week baked potatoes and some other items weren't available. But hey if you want something fancy go to northstar, squaw or heavenly. You'll end up paying for it too. The only thing though is that I had an amazing cibatta chicken sandwich at aspen mountain for $12 and this is where everything is expensive. Kirkwood please step up your game on food. If aspen can do something good for $12 so can you. read more

It agitates me that a good mountain with $77 lift tickets serves bowling alley quality food. Price is obviously not a concern for most patrons so why not jack up the prices slightly more and offer something good? The ambiance can be described as something that rhymes with clusterduck. You're probably better off with a Powerbar in between runs. Cheeseburger: I've had better at Burger King and for a fraction the price! The burger was fairly thin and completely well done. The bun had that weird synthetic Wonder bread texture. The cheese was melted and then re-solidified since it had been sitting out a bit. Fries: Standard. A bit not-so-fresh after grabbing them from under the heating lamp. Chili in a Sourdough Bowl: How do you mess up sourdough? I guess they found a way since it was very tough and stale tasting. My friends and I didn't have many options when it came to lunch at kirkwood. Monte Wolfes seemed like a good idea since it was inside and we were able to find a table. I've never paid so much for this terrible of a cheeseburger in my entire life. For $10+ I was expecting a pretty amazing burger. Instead, the cold bun was disintegrating in my hand as I ate. The burger was filled with shredded iceberg lettuce, a slice of tomato and sliced onion. It was made to order, probably because we were towards the end of the lunch rush. We also got fries for $5. You're much better off trying another eatery or bringing your own lunch. There are restrooms in here that skiers and boarders use right off the slopes, so it seems busy and crowded inside. I would have given this place 1 star if it wasn't for the sweet guy working here who offered to take our plates when we finished. He really didn't have to, but he was very kind to go out of his way to make our experience a tad bit better. read more

This is probably my favorite spot to stop at in between runs at Kirkwood - just as a tradition. The bar has some great specialty cocktails and bloody Mary's. I'll ding some stars since the bathrooms are tiny and aren't always super clean. The absolute nadir of ski resort dining. It's like paying top dollar to eat at a high school cafeteria. You expect to pay a lot for food while skiing, but usually there's some sort of twist (like a BBQ grill) or attempt at ski lodge decor. Here they serve basic fast food at insane prices: a beef hot dog will run you $8, while a burger without sides will be ~$13. The food is like an experiment into the least they could do. Also, pretty something we ate made us sick. The ambiance is exactly like my old high school cafeteria, with janky wobbly tables covered in other people's trash. The food counter area is a giant clusterf**k. The different lines for hot food, sandwiches, and cash register are all mashed together like a three-way traffic jam. read more

It's all about sharing a wrap. Spinach wrap with all the veggies imaginable, hummus, turkey, avocado and pepper jack is the way to go. About 3 lbs of food. Definitely in my opinion one of the worst places at Kirkwood to eat! This place is always packed because it is in the middle of everything and if it is snowing(and if generally is at Kirkwood!) all bets are off getting a table Monte Wolfe's. There is nothing special about the food here and it generally gets cold really quick. Also, expect normal ski resort prices. I will give it one star however for the bar. It is tucked away in the corner and the prices aren't bad compared to the food. The bartenders are usually pretty nice and it is a decent spot to wait towards the end of the day if you get off the slopes early. read more

They changed the layout and the way you order food - not sure if I like it yet. I spotted a table about to vacate so I stalked the current residents until they left while my boarding buddies waiting in line. I couldn't look at the menu so I got my standard chili cheese fries. You can't really save money here - but you wouldn' t expect cheap food at a resort so..... There's only 2 stalls in the bathroom in this part of the lodge so the lines get pretty long. I can't tell you where the short lines are because I don't want the secret to get out ;p They also have a new bar set up with a flat screen tv - I remember when the old tv came crashing down on the bar table - don't think that won a safety award. -1/2 star for doing away with the phone sex announcer (the food is all pre-made for you take with you) read more

The bar is adequate and fine, but this very simple cafeteria provides the weakest food option at Kirkwood resort. You are better off with one of their out-door BBQs in the village or the back-side, or basically with eating anything else anywhere else at the resort. I've eaten at this cafe for 3 seasons and it gets pricey. They serve reasonably price breakfast, but their lunch menu is pricey and bit bland. Bring your own food is my choice. I miss the sexy voice announcer...because I miss my specially made sandwiches with the meat piled sky high, toppings galore, and enough food to be shared by 2. Now they have premade sandwiches (still made by the sexy voice announcer...I saw her putting them in the open fridge area). They took away some tables to add a couple more cash registers (bringing the total to 6) for no apparent reason. Monte Wolfe's main problem in the past was not long lines to ring up your food but long lines to get a freakin' table. For those who are truly concerned about eating cheap at a ski resort that sits 30 miles from the closest grocery store, there are sample size cliff bars often available for free in the season pass office. But for those who understand how hard it must be for Kirwood to keep 5 full resturants staffed and serviced on the Mountain, and are willing to pay the slight markup over the cost of a sandwich in downtown San Francicso, welcome to Monty Wolfe's. Monty's has the best make your own sandwich available up there (in wrap or traditional sandwich) and your $9 gets you one heck of a meal.... easily enough food for two. If you are really that price sensitive, you can get a PB&J for $3, small price to pay to get to hear THE VOICE, you must admit.
