A little over a year ago I bought a 2005 Land Rover LR3 from this dealer. It was a lemon! Bad bad bad. Here's a list of issues I encountered within 10 months of owning it: Door moldings fells off - both sides! Remotes stopped working Suspension failed and dropped randomly The sunroof leaked! Water dripping in to the cabin. Airbag light would turn on, indicating there was a fault in the wiring Windshield wipers would turn on randomly, even on a sunny day. Rear tires needed replacement Drive axle needed replacement Forward bushings needed replacement (steering wheel would shutter while braking) Windshield washer reservoir needed replacment, leaked until empty HDC sensor replaced I only had the Land Rover for 10 months before I traded it in! I hated it! Worst vehicle purchase ever! The day I bought it, Monza told me "you won't have a problem with this vehicle!" They were so wrong! The only bright spot was Tom, the salesman. I did trust him and I don't think he meant to sell me a lemon. If you buy from here, GET A WARRANTY and GET IT INSPECTED before buying!!!! I signed up for Yelp because I had to tell people about my experience here. Four years ago I was looking at a car at Monza and Tom, was very upfront with me about my finances and let me know that it was probably not in my range. He showed me other cars, but I had my heart set on the one so I went to a different dealer. I told him I would come back though because of my overwhelmingly positive experience. Yesterday I went back. Just like last time Tom was patient, courteous, and informative. He had or found all the answers I needed when buying the car. There was absolutely ZERO pressure to buy. He let me test drive two different cars that interested me, walked me through the finance part of it, and closed the deal the same day. All I can say is, I really felt the "neighborhood dealer" difference here and I highly recommend Monza and Tom. Updated 12/10/12: There have been issues with the car. I found out that it had run over something pretty significant because the rear-passenger alloy wheel was cracked and the tire literally would not hold air. One day at a stop light, the tire just deflated like it gave up. When I took it to a tire shop (thinking I had run over a nail) they showed me the extensive damage. Also, the headlight (fancy automatically leveling BMW kind) on the driver's side is pointing up at an angle and was never right. I bought it during the day so I didn't see it. To be fair, I have not contacted them to see if they could make any of these things right. I feel like it's my fault for not having the car more thoroughly checked. so a word of caution, make sure you have someone look it over before you buy from ANY dealer. read more

While I didn't get the deal of the century, I got a very FAIR one and the negotiation was smooth and REALLY pleasant. The only reason that this isn't 5 stars is that the car was missing a key (an expensive one at that), which wasn't made 100% clear upfront, but kind of my fault for not asking explicitly. It's too bad they don't get more Mini's as I'd rather give Monza my business over any other dealer in the area. AVOID THIS DEALERSHIP AT ALL COSTS. My experience with Monza Car was very revealing. Originally, I located a vehicle through autotrader.com, and sent them an email asking for elaboration. Their reply - from Alan - was prompt and courteous. From that point forward, EVERYTHING went downhill. After receiving my email reply, I embarked on performing some due diligence on Monza Car. OMG. The comments I found were horrific. Clearly, the experiences of previous customers were not positive. Monza Car prices their vehicles WAY above blue book value. Then they rely on unsuspecting, uninformed customers to come in. Ones that have done no research, done no comparables. Realize that Monza Car does not negotiate price. When I implied that price was an issue, they asked me to make an offer. I made an offer at 6.5% less than their asking price. That was the last time I ever heard from them. So I called back to ask them if they had considered my offer. Alan gave me a sob story about a "medical condition" he had, and said he would call back in 5 minutes. I never heard from him again. If you are reading this review, then you've already done more due diligence than their target customer. Save yourself time and money and go to another dealership. read more

I take negative reviews on Yelp with a grain of salt because I realize there's a lot of negativity on here. However, I had a truly terrible experience with Monza Car and I feel I must share it to warn others. I was very interested in a sports car on their lot recently. Before making an offer on the car, I took it to a mechanic that specializes in this particular car (Nissan 300ZX) and he discovered nearly $7,000 in problems that were significant. When I returned the car and presented the inspection and repair report to Alan and Cher at Monza, it was like Dr Jekyl and Mr. Hyde. Alan asked me if I was still interested in the car and I said yes. I told him I would buy it for the price I had been intending to offer, less the repair costs that were needed. They became irate, rude, and then Cher became suspicious that the mechanic might have tampered with the car and said to Alan "make sure we have his (meaning me) phone number in case anything has been done to the car." I understand these guys are in the business of selling used cars, but its clear that they don't really care what problems they may be unloading on unsuspecting used car buyers. I'm amazed that anyone would buy a car like this without paying to get it inspected, and I'm amazed that they were surprised that I didn't want to negotiate down the price to make the car sound. I read some of the bad reviews but noticed Monza still has a pretty good rating and they had a wicked awesome tricked out Hyundai I loved! So without high hopes I emailed the dealer and was promptly contacted. I let them know what I wanted and they told me to come in on a Saturday, so I did. Listen these guys are really cool but let's remember that the clientele they have is a luxury brand/BMW/Mercedes's Benz folks so I think buyers that come here forget that its not a BMW dealer lol its a friggin used dealer remember that people! I went in there not feeling like a privileged potential luxury bran owner but just a regular guy. I asked questions and they answered them, we were both upfront about everything (I had a trade in) and there was no beating around the bush. These guys are great salesmen that I can see don't take shit from snooty high profile snobs. And I loved that, I felt we were on the same level. Just realistic people. Went to Monza Car to test drive a Cadillac they just got in. It had low miles and only 1 previous owner, and was in great shape. They had the carfax report available, and after taking it for a spin, I wanted it. They were extremely helpful, & not pushy like most smaller car lots. We worked out a deal that fit my monthly budget and down payment. I was happy with my purchase as well as the service from these guys. Frank, Alan, and the staff there were great to work with. Took the car to a dealership for a 3rd party inspection and everything was fine. Only a couple minor things to fix. I'd recommend anyone shopping for a new car to stop by to see their inventory. I had the privilege of working with Alan at Monza to help my girlfriend buy her Hybrid Lexus in early October. Our previous car had been stolen and we were down to the wire on finding the right car for us. We also live in northern California, not remotely close to So. Cal. and had to drive down to pick up the car from the dealership, so needless to say we were a bit nervous about arriving and finding the car "not as described" or somehow otherwise faulty when compared to the images we reviewed online. Our worries, while rational, could not have been more UNNECESSARY. From start to finish, Alan (and once or twice, Patrick) both assisted us absolutely wonderfully, from all of our homework before leaving our home, 10 hours north, to avoid any sorts of delays, or problems that might lead to us being stranded so far from home. Some details of why I would absolutely recommend dealing with Monza - and especially Alan - to anyone, and will definitely come back to them for any future vehicles I might need. 1.) They worked with us over the phone, providing carfax reports, maintenance records, and plenty of images (over 30!) of the car in all the important angles to make a decision from a distance feel safer, and more comfortable. 2.) During our lengthy drive down (in our rental car) from Sacramento, we obviously hit some delays, and driving into the San Fernando valley. Alan was INCREDIBLE and stayed over 2 hours after close to help us keep on track for our weekend (which turned into a delightful drive along the coast home). When we arrived in Sherman Oaks, the majority of our paperwork was ready, and he did not begrudge me the few minutes I requested to read over the agreements my girlfriend was signing in a little more detail, looking for hidden clauses, things like that. I can that confidently that our contracts were more than fair, and adhered to all California laws. 3.) The car was EXACTLY as described, runs EXCELLENT, and had no hidden damage or misleading details. In fact, we found that the car was, in fact, SUPERIOR to the listing online, in that it had a premium sound system that was not part of the original listing on Monza's site. 4.) We are a young couple and enjoy taking our 2 dogs on trips like this, and this was no exception. Our well behaved dogs were waiting in the rental car (Air conditioning on, don't panic!) when Alan noticed them, and said, "Your dogs looks like they are calm and submissive, do you want to bring them in so you don't have to run the car?" What an absolute delight to be able to let our dogs out to wander and even come into the office. Now, we train our dogs meticulously, so not every dog should be allowed in, but we really appreciated them allowing us to make this whole process just another bit more comfortable. A++. 5.) We then had to return the rental car at the Hertz up the street, and we were fast approaching the closing time for that location, and the dealership was already technically closed. Alan arranged for a driver to pick us up after dropping off the rental and bring us back to the dealership to wrap everything up. A lot of dealerships will do this, but I still consider it a great convenience that they would do something so small but so thoughtful. 6.) We came in with our loan already prepared, but Alan was able to competitively offer us some additional options for financing, and although we did eventually decline them, having the option to choose which one was right for us was a real consideration. We had only one small negative moment, and it was so minor that to us, it didn't take away from the overall 5-star rating in any way. Alan was able to tell us to status of our brakes, but we were already 75% of the way through singing all of our paperwork. It would be nice to have known at the beginning of the process, but ultimately, they were still in excellent condition, and it did not affect our decision in the slightest. We even met the owner, Sher, and he was extremely pleasant and helpful, although he had the air of a busy gentleman who was on his way to dinner or perhaps a business meeting. Above all, we walked away 100% satisfied with our new car, our coordinated effort to arrive, the flexibility and the willingness to help us be satisfied customers at the end of the day, and the little services and considerations that added up. I wholeheartedly endorse this company to anyone looking for a fair, straight, and pleasant experience when car-buying. read more

I had no problem with this place. I bought a 2012 Subaru Outback with low miles, clean carfax report and great price. I think they keep their prices low by turning inventory quickly. They told me this car was purchased at an auction and I found out it was a lease turn in, so I had no problem with that. I would maybe question it if the car was turned for no reason. No problems with my car and no problems with the dealer. I dealt with Alan and he was no haggles, no bs kind of guy. The only annoying thing was he said he was flexible on price before I went, and he only budged $200, but the price was right and I bought it the next day. I was a little hesitant since the lot seems fairly shady. You can tell it's an old gas station converted to a lot, but that's probably how the prices stay low, low overhead. read more

I bought my Mercedes SLK (in the pictures here) worked with Alan and Tom. I had ZERO issues completing the transaction in 2011. I've used the car for random driving. Drove all the way out to Sherman Oaks to check out a Gallardo I had seen on their website. Showed up Sunday bright and early right when they opened, and met Alan who gave me the keys to peek around. Overall the car was in decent condition (far from perfect). But it was exactly what I wanted - Black on black, with e-gear. Asked to go for a test drive, and he said they don't allow test drives on exotics and classics, and I'd only be driving the car if I was driving it home after purchase. Okay, I'm not sure about the folks who shop here, but this is a $100k+ car and I definitely am not dropping this kind of money without a test drive. He gives me the speech about running credit and this and that, so I made it clear that I am a cash buyer and can make an offer today, and that I would also want to get a pre-purchase inspection if my offer is considered. We sat down in the office, I made an offer, which he thought was strong, but since the car was on consignment (meaning its not their inventory) he would have to talk with the owner. Great, give him a call and lets make a deal. Alan insisted he will call the owner the following day and revert back to me. I mean... cash buyer.. sitting in front of you.. trying to buy a car that I am sure is not easy to sell. But okay, gave my number and expected him to call me next day so I can schedule a flatbed to pick up the car and take it for a pre-purchase inspection. Over a week has passed, and no call from Alan. Explanation of my 1 star rating. This establishment doesn't know simple business 101. Alan said they cosign luxury and exotic cars because it helps build a high-end image. They had an extremely clean-looking car that fit the bill, so I decided to swing by. (The independent mechanic confirmed Monza's reports that the car was in fantastic automotive shape.) With that, I decided to pull the trigger. We bought a Mazda MVP from "Monza car" in January 2011 and back then the sale guy convinced us to buy a 2 years limited warranty for $2.000 because its a good deal and he has one too and he loves it. beside this he convinced my wife that we also need am $800 bank gap. I told them that we don't need any of these buy they insisted saying that we can just get all those money back if we change our mind within 30 days. And here it all started: i called them back soon after and i informed them that we don't need any $2.000 warranty since we found the same one with $700 and that we talked to the bank and we don't need that $800 gap either so we want to cancel that and get our money back. They informed us what papers we need to send them and in the next couple of days we sent them all the papers and we were informed that we will receive the money soon. THAT WAS 6 months ago... in the last 2 weeks my wife called them 3 times and they informed her that they will look into it.
