Monza Car, you broke my heart. I never take the time to write negative reviews, but since I already wasted a couple hours on this dealership, I see no reason why I can't waste a few more minutes to share the frustrating experience I had. A few weeks ago I was just beaten to a 2007 Saab 9-3 Aero convertible that I loved from a dealer in Huntington Beach. I spent the afternoon test driving a few other cars, but didn't see anything I liked nearly as much as the Saab. So when I got home I decided to take a hail mary search and see if any other comparable cars had popped up since that morning, and indeed one had. Monza Car had just listed a 2006 9-3 with more miles, but it was appropriately priced and looked nearly identical. The listing on CarGurus was so fresh that there weren't any pictures up, but when I called they told me the car was on the lot, for sale, and to come on by. I drove over and was impressed with the quality merchandise and no frills layout of the dealership. I spoke with one of the salesman and asked to take a test drive. He gave me the keys and let me just have at it, which is always a preffered practice. The test drive was great, and I returned fully prepared to make a purchase from the friendly salesman I had been dealing with. Unfortunately, at some point during my test drive I had unwittingly passed into the Twilight Zone. Once the salesman had assured me I could make a deal pending a third party inspection it seemed like I would be driving home in a car that's perfect for me, but in that moment another gentleman walked up, probably the manager, and told my salesman that he couldn't sell the car or allow anyone else to test drive it, because they hadn't smog or safety checked it yet. The conversation then abruptly shifted away from me buying the car then and there, towards me arranging a third party inspection, allowing them to perform their requisite tests, and returning to buy it on Monday. I thought it was a little surreal to return from a test drive and be told "No you can't buy this car go home", but considering how new the listing was I didn't think much of it. The next morning I woke up to oggle my soon to be new car, and saw that they had raised the list price from the previous day by $1000. I called the salesman with whom I had been dealing to ask what the deal was, and he told me that he wasn't the one who set the prices, but to email over the cargurus page showing the original list price and he would call me back. I emailed him the page he requested, and found another posting on Edmunds with the same price, but he never returned my call or email. For the second time I had to watch my perfect car slip through my fingers. Now I can't be certain, but I imagine that from time to time there are people who show up to Monza Car wanting to test drive vehicles they have no intention of buying. They just have fun test driving nice cars. I imagine the staff there is extremely frustrated by people who selfishly waste their time like that. Personally, I don't test drive cars for kicks, and I have no interest in wasting my Saturday afternoon driving to dealerships to look at cars I'm not allowed to buy. Now Monza Car has many fine vehicles on their lot and you might find what you're looking for there, and if you do they might even be willing to sell it to you. Just be warned that they also might waste your time and toy with your desires in some half assed form of market research, which allows them to better determine precisely how much they can gouge the next sucker who stumbles on to their lot and is foolish enough to express enthusiasm for their merchandise. read more

The customer service was great, they offer a 30 day warranty on their cars, all the cars are luxury and well looked after, and we like the sales crew were not to pushy like other car lots. TRICKSTERS!!! KEEP YOUR EYES OPEN!!! I was fooled by the friendly demeanor of my salesman, which abrutly ended when I called the follow day with my complaint. Make sure to look at ALL the paperwork before you sign anything!!! I filed a Better Business Bureau claim against MONZA CARS a day or so after my purchase. Update: I purchased the vehicle June 1. It is July 8th now. Took my vehicle in for an oil change. They lifted the car up and I found out all my control arms are broken ($1200 repair). Also, Alan said if I wrote a review here, which I did on June 4, he would send me a $25 gas gift card. Still haven't received one. When I purchased the vehicle, there was no gas in it. Had to fill it up myself because Alan said the economy is tough and they do not fill up gas tanks. Overall not a good experience. read more

I purchased a car here over kelly blue book value a few months ago with a squeaky clean and meticulous car fax report AND asked the owner himself if there was any previous damage to the car- he said no and that it was all original. I recently got into a very minor cosmetic fender bender and when my car was in the shop they informed me of multiple on multiple internal issues. I am shocked. My car has a ton of unoriginal parts, sloppy welding, and hammered down metal holding my bumper in place. My intake hose for my air is completely jerry-rigged and underneath where my headlight is is hammered in beyond belief. Shame on me for not taking my car to an mechanic for a check out before I purchased it- but more importantly shame on Monza Car for outright lying to my family's face and acting like you are an honest stand up guy and a family man yourself. Wow. Avoid this place. David seemed like a nice guy over the phone but he's clearly under his bosses hand. As the title of their shop suggests that they deal with italian and exotics it is also clear they deal like hoodlums. I went into this shop after doing a good amount of research on the 2008 silver Prius they have for sale with 38,800 miles with clear evidence that this car is not worth the 14,995 tag they have it up for but the guys seemed to believe it was. I didn't even open the door of the car to check it out. Before all that they said it would be ok if I took the car to my mechanic but made it clear IT WAS NOT negotiable and they were FIRM on the price. This seemed unfair being as they have it listed for above the high market value price. I thought that was rash and unfair so I brought out some research papers I had found through Toyota. Just to give you an idea of the unpleasant experience this was. I walk into the shop with tools in hand to do my own initial inspection on the car, introduced myself to both the guys, spoke with David, attained the carfax and begin to talk about taking the car to my guys as well. I asked wether I could put the car on jack stands to take a look at the under carriage and instantly Aran was irritated that I would even ask such a thing. He was literally in disgust and gave me the shittiest attitude about "not wanting his shop to display to the public like that" and that I was obviously not worth his time. After proving with records from Toyota that the car was in an unreported accident they just looked me straight in the face and said "that's how we do our business" and made it clear they weren't willing to negotiate with me and $15,000 was firm no matter what I find. Just by looking at the pictures it's clear the wheel rings are missing and those are $120 and will diminish the mpg this car is built for. I have never dealt with such crap service in my life. You guys are obviously too elite for the likes of me. Avoid. They're clearly in for the uninformed buyer they can screw. read more

We just recently purchased a car from this dealer; a mint condition beautifully cared for 2002 Jetta that we are madly in love with. But this review is not about the car - it's about the service. We'd been on the prowl for a new car for my boyfriend for about 2 weeks. His old car died and we were in dire straits. We'd been to dozens of dealers. The cars were filthy, every used car was somehow magically 15K, we got sales pitches, we got sales threats and taunts (ie. "I thought you were a SERIOUS buyer."). It was your typical horrible used car buying experience. And so I turned to TrueCar. Firstly, if you're not using TrueCar then start! TrueCar is known for helping buyers of new cars but they now have a used car tab as well. You'll actually find reasonably priced used cars and these cars ACTUALLY exist on the lots. Also you will ACTUALLY get a call back from the dealers! If you shop on a rainy day sometimes it takes them only minutes to call you - but I digress. We found the Jetta at Monza through TrueCar and since we were in the neighborhood we did a drive by on them. The lot is small but sure enough the car was there. It was pouring cats and dogs and Bob came out of the office with his umbrella and a friendly hello. Instantly we knew he was different. He wasn't pushy, there was no sales pitch. He just asked if we wanted him to get the key and then he did. That was it. They pushed an old classic that wouldn't start out of the way IN THE POURING RAIN to get to the car. He let us test drive and again, there was no sales pitch - he even made me sit in the front in the passenger seat. He didn't need to position himself to sell. He just let us get a feel for the car. We knew we liked the car and so we headed back to the office to chat. It was the first car we'd driven that day and we had one more vehicle to check out. We let them know our plan to drive this second car down in Santa Monica and instead of freaking out like most car dealers do and panicking to keep us there they just threw gobs and gobs of information at us! About how financing a used car works, how to check to make sure the carfax we are show is the actual carfax on the car. They outed the tricks of other dealers! Asked us to verify a checklist of things on any car we purchased. Explained to us the best structure for our loan based on what we thought our credit scores were. Then we talked about Michigan, Bob's wife, the fact that all three of his sons work there and now he does too. It turned into a normal conversation and we actually kind of didn't want to leave. It was amazing. We promised we'd call them either way that night. We test drove the other car down in Santa Monica. The dude was a dick. He was pissed that we didn't want to buy the filthy Passat he was trying to push and kept hyping features that weren't features. I emailed Bob from the Passat test drive and told him we hated this car and we were coming back! We had to wait until Monday since this was late Sunday but we called Bob to reinforce that we would be in to buy the car in the morning. To close on the deal probably should have only taken and hour and a half or so... I think we were there 2 1/2-3 hours and mostly because we didn't want to leave. Bob even put money in my meter but I got him back and put money in his too! We chatted and had a blast of a time. Bob and his son Tom got us a ridiculous rate and set us up with a smart power train warranty, explaining how silly it would be to get a full warranty. They were totally right. They were able to bring our payment in WAY below our desired monthly amount and I was sincerely sad to drive away. We even brought them a bottle of wine and some potted flowers because we were so blown away by their candor and helpfulness. I recently bought a new car and this experience was so good that I wish I hadn't just so I could have bought MY car from them! I told them I was going to send everyone I knew to them and go crazy on every review site imaginable. I still can't believe the transaction transpired the way it did. I know I will visit them in the future simply to bring them cookies or brownies or something yummy. It's just too bad I don't get up that way more often. I even hugged Bob when we left. Who hugs their used car dealer!?!? A very happy client I guess!! Don't go anywhere else. Start here... and if they don't have it on the lot wait for them to find it and buy it from them. Don't waste your time with any other dealers. Go see Tom and his Poppa Sweet Old Bob (SOB as he calls himself). I've never EVER had a better customer experience. I'd be lying if I said I love going to used car dealerships. But because I'm in the market for a used Porsche Cayenne Turbo and this dealer happen to have one in stock, I really wanted to stop in and test drive the Cayenne they were advertising online. I have to admit Allen the representative that helped my girlfriend and I was a pleasure to work with. Used car salesmen are tough to trust. However he was extremely professional and was never pushy whatsoever. He even went over all the numbers very clearly without any smokes and mirrors. My girlfriend was in the car business previously and Allen even impressed her which believe me is not easy to do. I did not purchase the car I test drove with Allen but I would definitely do business with him if the right car came up without a doubt! Go see him if you see a car on their lot you're interested in. Trust me this dealership carries only low miles, good to nearly perfect condition cars. Oh yea, one more thing they use carfax, thats very important. They carry different options for financing as well, thats what I did, went through them instead of my credit union since they found a better deal. One more thing, check your credit before you buy a car, no offense but if your have a low score especially high 500 and under, your wasting any dealerships time. The buyer said they only offer $500 more than Carmax for cars they wanted. I'm sure they say about every car. Just save the trip and go to Carmax. read more

Had a great experience trading in our car for another used car at Monza! Like any car purchased from a used car dealer via a trade-in, there is going to be a negotiation process. But it was simple and painless at Monza: A friendly, funny and easy-going representative named Alan laid out what they wanted for their car; we laid out what we wanted for ours. We went back and forth a bit and met pretty close to the middle and ended up paying far less than its Kelley Blue Book value. Can't argue with that! The whole process took about an hour before we drove off in our new vehicle. We appreciated the experience enough such that we felt inclined to write a glowingly-positive review here on yelp. If I could give these guys zero stars I would! Just purchased a 2005 Audi A4 Avant over the weekend with them. As we were test driving it, they had trouble getting the trunk to open and close. The gentleman showing us the car (bob) stated the key just needed a new battery and we foolish believed him. We purchased the car and were told it had been thoroughly inspected and passed all their rigorous test etc. They then offered us a 2 day return policy for an extra $250 - we should have taken it! On the drive him, the ABS light came on and the breaks started to not function correctly. Next up was the suspension that started to make a really annoying sound every little bump you want over. I then pulled over to put gas in the car as it was empty and goess what? You can't put any gas in the car as the gas tank is broken! I called Monza and to tell them and they said to bring the car back (which I did). After having the car for four days (with me calling every day to see what was going on), they finally told me that there was a part missing for the ABS breaks, the trunk needed a new actuator (part back ordered for months) and the gas tank needed a new charcoal canister. HUNDREDS AND HUNDREDS OF DOLLARS OF REPAIRS! Naturally they are paying for none of it, and I love that they had to keep my car for 4 days to tell me this (whilst I continue to pay for a rental car). When I mentioned that they KNEW the trunk was broken and pretended like it wasn't they denied that and said they never knew the gas tank couldn't be filled (yeah right). AVOID LIKE THE PAGUE.... We are filing a complaint with the Better Business Bureau and will lawyer up as this is RIDICULOUS! The car was $16,000 - you would expect that you would be able to drive it! I get that it has no warranty, but I don't get is if you claim to have tested and inspected the car thoroughly that you don't even realize the trunk won't open and the car won't take gas? Also, don't tell me that the trunk won't open because the key needs a new battery when clearly this is not the case. These people are TERRIBLE! read more

I brought my car to discuss selling it on consignment. The owner was busy so he had me see another person. The other person gave me a price for what he thought I could get for it. I was happy with the price and said I would be back in 2 weeks to hand over the car. I went back two weeks later, ready to sell on consignment and the owner asks me about the car and asks if I got a price for it. I told him I had, and then his people go out to look at the car. He comes back to me and says "we have no interest in the car" and that I should go to CarMax. I told him I was leaving the country the next day and the only reason I came to them is that they said they would try and sell the car on consignment which would result in me getting a better price. He said I was making it all up and only he gives prices and he never gave me a price. I left pretty dejected (and since I had no time to look at other options, I took the CarMax offer that was $2500 less than what KBB said the car was worth). Afterwards I realized the owner lied to me - why did he ask me if I got a price if only he gives prices...? In short the guy is totally unreliable. I would not go near them. read more

THE WORST PLACE TO BUY A CAR ..... They lie about the price and get you to sign contracts which you cannot get out of! I bought a 2011 BMW which I thought I was getting 21,000 out the door but they were sneaky and I reviewed all the paper work u ended up getting it 31,000 out the door! This car is not worth that much with 60,000 miles on it . Way higher than the Kelly blue book price. So within a day I wanted to return and they said I'd have to pay 500$ to do so .. Which I ended up paying ... The owner is not a good guy don't trust these people they lie! Also the car had a fake paint job which they covered it with and it also had a bad battery! The car was also getting really hot in the front ! Do not trust them !!! read more

I did a car check because I'm in Florida and there was numerous scratches and cracks in the car. I called to speak to a manager on numerous occasions, without even one phone call back. I bought 2011 Mini Cooper from Anthony and Alan a few months ago and, I can safely say that after a few months, the car is still running great! In fact, just took it to a MINI dealer to get the oil changed and they said that all the regular maintenance on the car had already been done. The car has been running in great shape and I found the whole process of buying the car from Anthony very easy and low pressure. They were cool with me taking it to mechanic to have it checked out, the mechanic said it was in great shape, there were a few small things with the car that needed to be fixed and Anthony and Alan took care of all these things--and even bought me lunch while I waited :) Overall, great car that I'm very happy with and great experience! read more

I had programmed car.com to alert me when dealers in my area had the car I wanted. I'd been looking for this particular car for quite a while, and I knew the price attached at Monza was a good deal. I drove over on a Saturday (my birthday, in fact) after being alerted that the particular car I wanted was on their lot. I was actually on my way home from Keys Lexus, but that's another story. When I pulled up, I met Alan. He was incredibly nice. I also met Tom and his brother (two other great guys). After looking at the car, Alan asked me if I wanted to drive it. The guys moved everything around so we could get it out - and before we left, Tom handed me a fistful of quarters for my meter (something he did not have to do). After deciding that I wanted to go have the car inspected, the guys let me drive it over to the mechanic of my choice. By happenstance, my place was closed, so I took the car out to a woodland hills dealership only to find that the previous owner had serviced the car there. After checking the car out, I went back to Monza to write them a check. Tom took an additional hour or so showing me all of my warranty options . He's incredibly knowledgable and genuine.
