Don't let my three stars be a bad thing. Moody's is exactly what you expect and it's elevated bar food. Nice patio in the summer. Nothing too crazy in terms of food, but a nice burger spot. Be sure to sit outside as the inside is very smoky. Middle of the road food and that's what is needed sometimes. Service was insanely fast and that's a plus for a Friday.

This place is a Chicago institution. It's been around for decades, but I haven't been there in many years. Today was as good as it was back then. Ahhhhmazing burgers and fries in a quaint, cozy setting. We ate in the patio. The bleu burger is made for cravings.

$12.00 dollar onion rings and $18.00 dollars for a small burger with blue cheese, these prices are ridicules. I had not been to Moodys for awhile and left without eating because I wasn't prepared to spend over $40 bucks for lunch.

An view of the menu and outdoor seating area

We walked by this quaint pub with shaded, secluded outdoor seating when it wasn't open. We decided to come back days later and were glad we did. The outdoor seating area is comfortable, shady, and quiet enough to have a conversation but still feel the city behind the fence separating the sidewalk from the diners. My wife had a fish sandwich which was generously adorned with tomatoes, lettuce, and onion as well as a heaping helping of home cut French Fries. I ordered the Cheesy Moodyburger. It was handmade and tasted like the burgers you remember from your childhood from the grill. I loved that they brought out school cafeteria-style ketchup and mustard bottles. The food was great. The atmosphere was exceptional. It's worth the stop for sure.

Fun spot with a great patio!! Service is a little slow and the foods not going to change your life but it really is a classic place where the food tastes the same as it did 20 years ago.

Wow the place was so dark inside I thought they were closed. There's mood lighting then there's Medieval lighting. There was no one the, I guess Monday's right after opening isn't a busy time. I ordered the Moody's Sloppy Joe Sandwich ($12). The sandwich was very good on a very good bun. Most buns don't stand up well this one did. The portion size was huge. It almost felt like a pound of beef, but was probably half a pound. It was seasoned just right. It hit my sloppy joe craving perfectly. Since the don't offer refills on Sodas I got a pitcher for $7. This worked. The service was Good and I got my food quickly. Overall a 4 1/2 star review. Rounded that becomes a 4 star. They are an old timey restaurant established in 1959. I would love to try their burgers. Would I return? Yes, the next time I'm in Chicago I'll be back.

Basically it's a cool old looking place with some basic divey bar food. If it doesn't seem cool to you, then you might be moody. Moody's Pub is like an old British pub but with even worse food if you can believe that. A beautiful old interior with stones and wood, and some stained glass. There's also a nice patio. A lot of good drinks. It's certain better than any food. This is a place we went recently and were disappointed with the mediocre selection. Drinks are the only thing we recommend from here. The best one is the Jaker's Mark. It's $8 for a big glass. This is lemonade, orange juice, and whiskey. Simple but good. The food sucks. It has limited vegetarian choices. We each got a Black Bean Chipotle Burger. It's $10.50 with a side like fries. This was a mushy patty. Most spice seemed to be chipotle powder, just lazy. The burger comes with lettuce and onions. Best thing is the atmosphere. It has a cool interior and patio. The menu is lame for vegetarians.

    How do one make reservations?

You wouldn't want to unless you want bad service

Are there age restrictions (like 21 and up)? I'm planning a work thing, and 2 of our employees are 19.

No age restrictions, unless they are ordering alcohol (like any other restaurant).

Is the veggie burger on your menu vegan?

    Yes it is!!! 🙏🏽❤

Does Moody's Pub have patio seating? How long is the wait for seating?

I'm trying to call Moody's but the number is disconnected. Anyone know how to reach them? Are they still open for business? Looking to go this evening.

Sorry, don't know. Saw them doing renovations, but haven't been there in a while.

Warm and lovely British pub with delicious pies and efficient service…read more My dining partner and I tried the mushroom and kale and the rocking vegan pies. The mushroom and kale pie was nice and cheesy and the rocking vegan pie was more savoury, with a variety of vegetables and chickpeas as stuffing. The crust was neither too soft nor too crunchy. The highlight of the meal was the curry chips: potato wedges lightly fried with masala and curry leaves. The dipping sauce that came with the chips reminded me of tikka masala sauce, and paired beautifully with the chips. Dessert was toffee pudding: the caramel sauce that came with the pudding was delectable - the pudding itself was excellent and not overly sweet. We tried a variety of NA beers, and I was pleased with how many options they had. Service was quick, and we were well looked after. The ambiance is warm, with dim-ish lighting and a lot of dark wood. The restrooms were gorgeous - special shoutout to the lovely floral wallpaper. Overall, I highly recommend Pleasant House - the vibe is chill and understated and the food is stellar.

The sausage was very tasty, the breading on the outside was incredibly crisp, light, and the egg inside was cooked well. Both the steak pie and the chicken pie were very good. The chicken pie I think really needed the chutney that you can get separately. But that made it so much better and made it my preferred pie. The steak and ale pie was better than the chicken pie as a standalone, but needed a bit more gravy I think to elevate it. Sticky toffee pudding again was delicious. Surprisingly light, not overly dense so I was glad it came with the custard which was very flavorful. Overall, will definitely return!

The server was very nice and helpful but I didn't get his name unfortunately. I iordered the half slab of ribs and 1/4 chicken with side of green beans which also came with corn on cob and Cole slaw. I also had a slice of apple pie to go. Everything came out pretty quick and temp was good. Sorry no pics this time though but it resembles what others have posted. So let me just jump right in on the ribs. They were ABSOLUTELY no where to being on a top 10 list of ribs so not sure where or who gave them the title of (best) but it definitely falls in the category of false advertisement. They were pretty tough and flavor was average at best. The chicken was moist and pretty good as were all the sides. The best part for me was the apple pie. Definitely changed my mood after the disappointment of the ribs. I'm not condemning this place but I can't recommend it either based on the misleading rib statement so proceed with caution!

Amazing that fun isn't always beers and chugging. Believe everything is good here but we came for the beers of course. It's certainly the main product made here so why wouldn't it be important. They make more than you can believe which is impressive because there's all kinds of crowds who pass through. For sure everyone wants beer. It's $6 a pint at happy hour. Pretty great for craft beers compared to lots of places it seems. Best one we got was the Bucket Hat. This is a Belgian style witbier. Has notes of bubble gum, coriander, and orange. The food isn't an afterthought so get some of that. It's about $18 for a burger. Vegans have options. Certainly one of these is the Veggie Burger. This is an amazing thing with a spinach patty topped with chipotle tomato marmalade, cremini mushrooms, mixed greens, pickled red onions, and sweet potatoes. All on a fluffy ciabatta bun. The rest of the menu contains meaty stuff. For sure it feels like a place for the hipsters but it's pretty great for anyone. Pro Tip: if you can tolerate a large quantity of fish, visit on a Wednesday for their AYCE Fish & Chips. I've had many hum drum AYCE dinners that are drab and only fill you up. Not this one. It's a great meal and a great deal. The Shepherd's Pie was fabulous, as was the Bangers and Mash. They've created a Haggis Burger that has to appease Americans, yet, still be haggis. A tall order since most would hate "true" haggis. Fear not, it's not your grandfather's haggis, it is a tasty burger. The fries were great but I'd recommend the Tattie Skins. We tasted so many different malts it was hard to pick a favourite. No foolin' they had island malts, highland malts, speyside and even a couple from the lowlands. After we sat down, our server took her sweet time getting to us and was largely absent the entire visit while the servers for the others tables were attentive and present as I've come to expect. We started with the Crispy Brussels and Burrata Toast which was an amazing and fun combination of flavors textures with the sherry glaze and pickled onions providing a perfect counter to the richness of the cheese. Our second course was the Gage Caesar which we've had before and have enjoyed sharing multiple times, but this time the lettuce was full of grit as if the prep chef did not even bother washing the lettuce. The server never came by to check on us so I had to wave the manager to complain about the salad. The server also never checked to see if we wanted refills on our cocktails so we placed our orders with the manager. The final dish was the venison burger which was perfectly cooked and seasoned if you like venison, which I do so we enjoyed that greatly. The condiments that came with it were perfectly matched to balance the game of the meat and the fries were perfect as usual! The server then FINALLY got more involved with our dinner and was predictably perky and present at the end, something that always irks me when they have been otherwise absent for the meal. The ONLY reason they are getting 3 stars instead of less for this visit was the flavor of the food and the response of the manager in dealing with the lack of service (and the gritty salad). I would give the initial server a zero if I could.
