Disappointing expericence. Purchased over $1000 of shrubs and was told I would have a 90-day guarantee if I used them to plant and purchased other services, so I did so. The plants died and I contacted them on three different occasions. The first two times the person on the phone told me they would "call me back" about the issue, hung up on me, and then never called back, and the third time I set out my concerns in writing and received no response. Moon Nursery had a beautiful red bottlebrush 6 ft tree that we wanted to replace after the terrible freeze that killed our backyard plants. Long story short, we found a perfect tree at a good price, thanks to Harrison White. We returned the following night just as they were closing, but Harrison stayed late and helped us get the tree tagged so that it could be picked up the following morning. When we needed additional plants later that week, Harrison helped us again and suggested perfect plants to complete our yard and even remembered our names from our previous visit. Very Big and Nice Size Nursery lots of different plants and flowers very large in size for most of them. All the staff we came across and who greeted us were very nice and welcoming and told us a little of the history of the place this place is pricey but looks like good quality plants and flowers and they will plant for free at your house! read more

Had a great experience with these guys! From Daniel the salesman to William the installer...very professional, knowledgeable, friendly and courteous. Lots of trees to choose from and communication was good as the process unfolded. All questions answered in a timely and informative way. Didn't love my experience with Moon Valley. Bought a pecan tree the first week in March, hoping to get it planted in April. They were out of pecan trees until the end of May, so it just went in the ground. I asked them to compensate for the delayed planting with adding on the guarantee or warranty and they gave me such a ridiculous run around. Texas summers are tough on small trees, so I'll be tending this one with extra care this summer, but I didn't feel like Moon Valley cared all that much about the tree actually surviving and getting my repeat business. I stopped hearing from my rep and the communication about the actual planting day was poor. On sale day, they were super attentive and made me feel good about choosing them, but after the charge went through (I made two payments before the tree ever went into the ground), customer service went out the window. read more

We recently purchased two giant trees and numerous smaller plants from Nathan at Moon Valley nurseries in N. Austin. From day 1 Nathan was professional, knowledgeable, helpful and efficient. One tree was not the one we ordered, and after speaking with Nathan, the replacement and removal of the old one was quickly and efficiently arranged. Nathan is awesome....ask for him. The crews that delivered and planted were awesome as well. Professional, quick, thorough. I can't give this company enough accolades. We will definitely buy all our plants, trees, etc. from them in the future. You have to try them! Zero stars. We put in a very large order, a few thousand dollars. On planting day the crew arrived with the incorrect number of trees, on top of that we found out they planted the wrong color after they finished (this was during covid so we didn't stay outside long to chat, especially since the crew was mostly maskless). You pay a premium for the height of your trees. These were not the ones we saw and tagged at the nursery, these were a lot shorter. We let the sales manager know right away the problem. He said he would come over the next day but never did. After many many unreturned phone calls later I had to go into the office myself. The manager was very defensive but her assistant manager helped me cancel the rest of the order. There was no way we will give them our business after the extremely unprofessional transaction. They promised to reorder the correct trees but it has been two months. No calls, no updates. Now we are stuck with incorrect trees that we've been watering since October. Do not fall for their 50% off plus free planting. What you get will not be the same as what you see in their nursery. What a scam. Take your business to a locally run nursery instead. read more

I bought three bamboo plants at Moon Valley, and no one offered me any kind of insurance plan or mentioned such was necessary. When the plants arrived, one was clearly different than a couple of weeks earlier when we picked it out. It looked sick or not watered, but we took it anyway assuming we could help it recover or that Moon Valley would back their products. After lots of TLC over the next few weeks it still never recovered, and died. Just so you know, in case you're thinking about shopping at Moon Valley, they do not warranty what they sell, and won't make good on bad products. Coincidentally, I was at Great Outdoors this past weekend, and I happened to run into the exact same plant for $50 less than MV sold it. You'd think for MV's higher prices they'd back the merchandise they sell. Even Lowe's and Home Depot (for a better price) will refund dead plants. Watch out. Moon Valley does not have your back. read more

Since mistakes happen and $10 doesn't buy ya a bowl of queso in 2020 Austin, I offered to split the difference, only to be told their computer would not permit such event. Took my heartfelt grievance to their website and was promised a response, but nothing. Not much of a way to run a business, Moon Valley; sure do miss you, Red Barn. read more

After waiting for 7 weeks from consultation to "installation", we were given an 8am-noon install window for 27 shrubs and 2 trees. At noon, we called to get status and at 1230pm we were told that they'd be here today between 12 and 4pm. At 230pm, we called again and were put on hold until Will the manager told us that our install date was now going to be on Dec 21st, not on Dec 7th because the job before us was more difficult than they had anticipated. What a joke!!!! When we asked why we would not be bumped until tomorrow, his response was "we aren't going to be back in your area for 2 weeks" (lie) and that there were bigger jobs that they needed to attend to before ours and that "we dont understand the logistics of their business". They offered to drop off the plants and give us a $200 credit when we had plunked down almost 6k to buy the plants and have them installed/guaranteed. Thanks Will (please note my scarcasm here!) This company is a total waste of your time. Stick with Natural Gardener or another local nursery. They are under the false impression that antics like this will be tolerated by customers and it wont come back to haunt them. Do not use Moon Valley Nurseries--steer clear and spend your money elsewhere. read more

I worked with Nate Brown to select trees and bushes for my back yard. Nate helped me pick out 3 trees and multiple small and large bushes to provide the foundation for my backyard landscape design. He provided information about each tree and bush that helped me feel comfortable with the selections. The landscape crew (Kingdon, Gabriel, Tomas, Diego, Jesus, and Alejandro) were amazing! They called prior to arrival, arrived on time and planted the 3 trees and 19 bushes in a little under 2 hours. What a great addition to the Austin area! We had been in search of a solution for natural privacy screening against a busy road for several years. After visiting many other nurseries and landscapers with little interest or clear guidance to help solve our challenge, we decided to check out Moon Valley as the "new kid in town" and were immediately greeted by Brent Alexander (and his sweet puppy, Gabby). Brent took the time, on the spot, to assess our needs and within 30 minutes, we had a plan in place! Not only was it helpful to tap into Brent's expertise but a huge differentiator was that they had the inventory to back it up. No small, "wait a lifetime to enjoy them" size trees here. Every specimen is premium quality and of various sizes to fit your needs (and budget). We haven't seen anywhere in the area come close for inventory, quality, and size of trees. In fact, the day before planting, we realized we would need 6 additional trees for coverage (fully expecting that to delay our planting or require a follow up visit). Not a problem for Brent and the gang at Moon Valley! Without hesitation, Brent confirmed they had the inventory, time to get them on the truck, and they were delivered and planted the very next day.
