We went to the nursery for the first time today after seeing them at the Austin Home and Garden show a couple of weeks ago. Compared to the other local nurseries that we had checked out, this one blew me away. The size, varieties, and quality of the trees was great! The woman who helped us find the trees we wanted (Dana Carmichael) was very helpful and was even willing to look up questions we had concerning different tree diseases. It was a good experience all around - even working out our payment plan with Chris, the manager, was an easy process. We purchased 5 trees in January of 2021, they were scheduled to be planted the day before the big winter storm was coming I questioned the weather several times but was assured as long as the trees were watered they would be fine. They all died. When we had the largest tree replaced the salesman said we needed to purchase a new warranty since we were using ours so we spent more $, later we learned that there were 2 replacements per warranty and called and went up there but never could get a refund. Freeze of 2022 comes and all trees die again. They are Japanese Blueberry Trees which they assured us were good for winter and said we did not need to do anything for them. I have since been told by a more reputable company that they do not sell these trees at their nursery because they do not hold up in Texas. We went back to store and she said arborist would contact us and it has been radio silent since then. Do not waste your money or time. $10,000 mistake read more

We bought some bushes from Moon Valley. Curtis helped us out select the best plants and he was a great help! I originally thought they were a buy and install only type of place but we were able to walk around and pick out the bushes we wanted and then planted them ourselves. To be honest, I was not happy at first. Drew the salesman was super knowledgeable and helpful when we picked out our trees and Although they are a bit expensive, I was happy and excited to see the final result. Well, first the dig crew came out. They accidentally hit an irrigation line (fixed later by Ryan) and then stopped digging as they were concerned about other pipes (pool) that were nearby. We had to reconsider our tree location. I called Moon Valley and they understood and quickly refunded one of the trees that we weren't able to keep. Next came the planting crew. Ryan and his crew came and fixed the irrigation system. Everything went well at first. The first tree went in and it looked amazing. However, the next two trees looked really sad looking. I had to reject them. Ryan and Moon Valley again had no problem with us saying no and my husband and I went back to the nursery to pick out two more trees. A week later, Ryan and his crew of landscapers came out again and planted the new trees plus roses and did an awesome job! They were quick and courteous to my requests. He gave instructions on how and when to water and left us tree chemicals for us to add to help them succeed. I give Ryan and his crew and Moon Valley Nursery two thumbs up! Yes, we had our hiccups but they were super easy to work with and more than willing to fix any issues that we weren't happy with. So, if you're looking for trees or other landscaping plants, I highly recommend Moon Valley Nursery. read more

Unhappy with the customer service here. I called about a specific indoor tree and was told they had several. This person did not inform me over the phone that they were primarily an outdoor plant and tree nursery. I'd never have come out otherwise. Instead, I came the next day and no one had even heard of this tree. The person I spoke finally showed up and casually said "we sold out all of those yesterday." They had one other type of indoor tree that didn't work for us and frankly didn't seem phased that I'd not been properly informed about their inventory or general business focus. Chris and his team did a great job for me in putting in 2 tall privacy shrub screens and a 30ft tall live oak weighing 4,000 + lbs . The tree location was 75 ft from access which required a major crane to do! A lot of coordination and determination got it done for us. Great stock to choose from at the nursery. And be sure to buy the Moon Juice for plant food! read more

REALLY Expensive. Not similar to the previous Red Barn nursery at all. We were looking for some larger Agave plants (which they had) but they were about 2x more expensive than other nurseries we later checked on. Maybe a good place if your looking for larger trees and have deep pockets but not for normal people. read more

I stopped by the Pond Springs Rd, Austin, TX store to purchase a few bags of Cotton Burr Compost which I most definitely have purchased within the last 6 months from this location. The salesman who talked to me was discourteous, impolite, and unacceptably rude in his attitude. He told me I was wrong and didn't know what I was talking about, and that Moon Nurseries has never sold that product. WORST CUSTOMER SERVICE EVER!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I bought 3 trees in March, for $3,000. They were delivered 5/12/21. A day or two later I noticed the red tag on one of the trees and realized it was not the tree I paid for or wanted. I have been trying to right this with them since then, today it is 7/19/21. So far I have talked to Nick on 6/4, left 2 messages for Bryn the GM on 6/14, got an email with a picture of my tree from Laura G on 6/15; and on 7/8 she swore she would call me back by 6pm - of course she never called. On 6/21, I received a text message from a guy delivering the tree, however, since no one ever contacted me, I was not home. I texted him back saying I was on vacation and he could come back any day the rest of the week. Crickets.... Today 7/19 after talking with Laura again, who was only full of excuses and offered zero customer service, I contacted the Corporate Office who, wait for it...promised to message the GM of Texas. We have been in our new home in Round Rock for two years now and decided it was time to plant some mature shrubs in our backyard so that we aren't always looking over the fence into the neighbor's windows. Our online search led us to Moon Valley Nurseries in Austin. They offer container-grown, mature shrubs and trees. Their plants are grown outdoors (not in greenhouses) in Texas, so they are acclimated. Since they are grown in containers, the plants don't experience transplanting shock due to feeder root damage and recover quickly when planted in the yard. We met Nathanael at the nursery and discussed our plan. He helped us pick out the perfect plants for our screen and a tree for our small backyard. On planting day, the planting crew, led by Matt, showed up as scheduled and quickly went to work. They did an excellent job planting 18 mature Podocarpus (Yew Pine) shrubs and one Chinese Pistache tree. We couldn't be happier! We finished the job by installing limestone blocks as a border for the bed. The yard now looks fantastic! The shrubs are growing already and the tree is leafing out quickly. We bought 11 trees and 1 of them did die about 4 months after it was planted. NO ISSUE at all, getting it replaced was fast and easy!! Went to pick out trees and our sales person was Alyssia she was super sweet and very knowledgeable. She helped me decide what trees and plants would work best for the location I wanted. The day before the delivery they called to set up the window of time they would be there. They later called to let me know that 2 of the plants had been infested and they didn't want to give me those so they offered to let me change them out or come at a later date to deliver better ones. Nice touch in my opinion. The delivery went well they were on time and very nice to deal with. My yard looks great! read more

Originally we were happy with our purchase at this nursery we spent over $6000 buying three trees. The sales person (Nate) made a commitment to us that our palm tree would be skinned (cleaned up)prior to delivery. However on delivery day of the tree showed up in the condition we originally saw it in which was not skinned. The installation crew wanted to take the tree back to the warehouse to have it properly prepared before installation but Nate got on the phone and assured me that this procedure would be done post installation. After countless emails and phone calls and text messages they have literally ghosted us and refuse to honor the original agreement which was to deliver the palm tree in a skinned condition. I am not sure if I would do business with this company again after the false promises as I stated earlier we spent a chunk of change at this establishment to the tune of over $6000 read more

Not enough good to say here. We ventured to the nursery simply to investigate the new ownership. We have shopped at the previous location for years and truly valued it. Once on location, we noticed that this company was nothing like the prior service. The focus is 100% on cactus, trees, palms bushes and hard scapes. Their knowledge is second to none. We were also excited to see that they have retained many of the familiar faces we enjoyed doing business with before. We purchased an amazing 15 foot tall palm and several hardscape pieces on Tuesday. They showed up on Saturday and installed it all. It was simply amazing. Laurie Liedeker helped me find a gorgeous oak, and she cheerfully accommodated my husbands choice of a different specimen. She is knowledgeable, efficient and helpful. We felt completely comfortable that we were in good hands with her. The entire process couldn't have been easier. The planting crew consisted of six equally cheerful and hardworking men who clearly knew what they were doing. They even turned the trees around for us to choose the side we wanted next to the fence! Great nursery! The specimens we got had fruit the first season and were in great health. The crew that planted it were very professional and fast and came right on time. The best part though is the AMAZING customer service when we did have an issue. We bought several fruit trees and two of the trees that were probably not watered enough due to the extended summer and they replaced them within their 3 month warranty no questions asked. I didn't even have to go to the nursery -- I communicated via text with Joshua and he sent me pics of the replacement trees and scheduled the planting about a week later. Chris's crew did the planting and even watered and fertilized one of the other trees that I was a little worried about. I lost all my trees due to the winter storm that hit Austin and came to Moon Valley on Pond Sprind Road. The size and the selection of their trees were incredible! Too many options :) It can be overwhelming with the number of trees to make your selection. At the end, the experience was actually fun and the sales guy, Ish, made it super easy for me. The guy got on top of trees and even swang from one of the tree branches. You can tell he enjoys what he does, but more importantly helped with my process of making the right decisions. He cared about my investment. The store was not busy, but I was there at 9:30am on a Wednesday. I will say I have passed thru on a weekend and noticed the parking lot full, that even cars were wrapped around an apt complex next door to them to park. It seems this place is insane during the weekend. I'm just glad I found what I needed and I left the nursery with several big trees. Excited to get my lawn back soon!
