Even with the discount, it's the priciest in town. We did get 2 trees from there. They badly damaged one in transit, but still planted it hoping we wouldn't noticed. They replaced it with a deformed tree. It wasn't until the third try they got it right. Update: they reached out for my phone number. My wife and I were met as we entered the lot of the nursery by Manager, Cameron Ratajczak and warmly welcomed to his nursery. We were then referred to Phillip Gage, who took very good care of us. We ended up purchasing a new tree, and was informed that Foreman, Jose Mora would have his crew out to plant/install the tree on Wednesday. After reading the hidden reviews we got scared! Now I am posting so others know that maybe things have changed or situations are different. Here is our experience & why it was not 5 stars. We went in on February 24, 2024. We were in search of a weeping willow tree. There were $1500 ones & $4000 ones. ($1500 was on sale, smaller) we decided on the $4000 one. They had to be shipped in as the ones we saw were already sold. We did have to pay upfront in full which I don't care for but we did. We were told we would be called as soon as the trees came in so we could pick which tree we wanted. Our install date was March 26, that was first available. We ended up getting restless as we had not heard from the nursery about the trees being delivered. So we started texting and then calling when we didn't get an answer. This is where the frustration & 1 star comes from. Strictly communication. Wednesday, March 20th 6 days before install 811 had not come out & we had not heard about our tree being delivered to the nursery still. That afternoon I made a call and crawled up someone's rear. (Gavin? My apologies) At that point we had called, we had text & were given no answer on when the trees would be in for us to choose ours. At that time the nice guy that took the chewing got us our answer. The trees were there and had been delivered 3 days prior. Again, we had not been told, I had to call crawl up some poor guys rear to find this out. (Please keep in mind as I crawl (lol) we had already paid over $4,000 for the tree & it's been a month since we gave that money) Fast forward to Friday ( 3 days prior to Tuesday's installation) we go to pick out which tree we want. We find out the tree's they received were not as big as the one we were ordered for $4,000. This is why our sales guy failed to communicate the trees were in. He knew it's not what we were expecting or ordered. However, if he had told us what was happening we would not have gotten so bent out of shape but after reading other reviews I can see why they hesitate to communicate if it might make a customer upset. His Boss Trey I have seen his name in reviews as well. Anyway he was wonderful & handled the entire situation in a very professional & apologetic manner. We still chose a tree from the ones delivered as they could not find ones as big as the original ones we saw. He even tried to apologize even more by giving us some shrubs for free. We declined. It's not their fault the trees were not as big as expected. We totally get it. They did right and refunded the difference in size & our tree was delivered on time & looks wonderful! So communication is the only reason I have them at 4 stars instead of 5. We would purchase again but let our sales guy know "hey, don't be afraid to communicate with us. We won't bite your head off." We'd retained Moon Valley to do landscaping design and planting for us. Quite frankly, we'd not been pleased with the result. We contacted Jay Benke who came out and personally visited with us. Jay not only listened to and addressed our concerns, he went above and beyond--offering and implementing creative solutions. By the time Jay, Damian, and Russell and their crew were finished with the new plantings and replantings, our yard looked even better than we imagined it might. I came to Moon Valley Nurseries in Buda on a Sunday morning simply seeking to look at what the nursery had in stock for trees for my house, and I ended up walking away with many new beautiful trees to be installed in my front yard and back yard. I worked with Carlos N. to select beautiful trees for my home's front yard and back yard. Carlos was incredibly attentive to my needs and always exuded positivity and energy in each of our interactions. He never tried to upsell me on something that I did not need for my landscaping and was incredibly knowledgeable about each type of tree that might look great for my property and my desired level of maintenance. He took the time to walk me through the different options of trees and helped me select the ones that would fit with the visionary landscaping designs I shared and could fit with my budget. Carlos also spent ample time at my home flagging the different locations for tree installation and discussed the pros and cons of having trees in certain locations for the front yard and back yard. We had the pleasure of working with Ariel from Dripping Springs and I really can't say enough kind things about her. She was knowledgable, helpful, honest and really wanted us to get what would work best for us. She was incredibly reliable as well to be at our home on time, to meet us out at the nursery, make suggestions and just to be truthful about versatility of trees, the weather concerns, etc. She was wonderful! Because we had a major shift in our plans with the design of our backyard, we weren't able to go through with the purchase at this time but I have no doubt that the delivery, install and plant quality would have been as good of an experience. I am very pleased with the work done by the guys that came, and most importantly, the team was very flexible. They helped with even the work that they were not required to do. They helped me relocate a couple of plants. In the past, the previous contractor I worked with cut my neighbor's fiber line in the process of digging. In this case, I forgot to mention that there was a fiber line in the area they were digging, but they were still able to identify it and dig around it. They were also able to show me an irrigation line that was close to where there was digging that I was unaware of. It shows attention to details. Overall, I am very impressed, and I highly recommend. Lastly, I also want to give an extra shout out to the guy who was leading the team; he was very professional and easy to work with. He seemed very knowledgeable, and he was able to recommend suggestions when I asked questions on how to manage the other plants I have in my home. I don't remember his name as this was a while ago. This is my first bad review on a business. Super disappointed in what you get for after you give payment! I picked out a tree they only had maybe six options for what I wanted so they sent me to another location where I could pick out another one. They brought the wrong tree to my house... And not only that but at the end of the day when I dropped off all the other trees mine was bare and didn't have any leaves left. I immediately said that's not the right tree and it doesn't even have any leaves left and they said well they fell off on the right here... When I pulled up the tree was dragging off the trailer. They planted it one survived the other did not. I told them a month afterwards can you please come and trade me this tree they came out and said it will be fine that it just needs more time... Well with more time your guarantee is up. So lo and behold months after it's still dead and they won't answer phone calls or email back. If you go in they just tell you that it's past the guarantee date. You're just stuck with it. And then have to spend money to have it removed. How convenient! As someone who has 15 years of personal gardening and landscaping education and experience, this place was a dream come true. Chris and Nate were very knowledgeable AND accurate with the information they gave (I play dumb to test the plant knowledge and validity in sales reps). Very personable and just as excited about the products they carry. I highly recommend this company for your "instant gratification" tree fix. They also sell a ton of perennial shrubs. Six months later and not 100% with the five star rating anymore. I have asked numerous times to have a rain sensor fixed that was broken when they initially came out there. After numerous emails and calls and text messages since October (now being May) I finally agreed to have someone come out to fix my rain sensor and then "have them bill moon valley for it." Additionally, I lost my Monterrey oak, and after staring at a dead tree most of the winter, I did get a new one installed. Unfortunately the crew came in, ruined my ground and messed up my metal edging with fixing it. My fig tree also died (which is weird in general) and even though I was offered half price of a half priced sale, home depot and Lowes takes those back with a year guarantee. I can't come back here. It's just not worth it. The trees are gorgeous and the place is heaven but after you give them your money, it feels like the service after that is plain mud. read more

First, their collection is by far the biggest in our area. I have worked with other Tree vendors in the past. Second, they (most plants / trees) come in three sizes - so you can pick and choose. Their claim is that these trees / plants are frost tolerant. While those in the nursery seem to have taken the recent frost well, I would like to watch these tree grow and branch out - and live through a season of cold weather. The prices - I think you get what you pay for. They have bundle offers, tree guarantees and a wide variety of fertilizers to help you with. The work order is comprehensive. They bring the tree home, plant, fertilize the soil - so it is as good as it gets. The financing offer - 12 months with no interest is really the icing on the cake. Last but not the least, I worked with Mr White. Very knowledgeable and extremely patient - as he worked through the requirements. Customer satisfaction begins at the point of engagement. We purchased several shade trees for our backyard from here. They have a wide selection of trees with various sizes and ages. For the shade trees, the sales rep told me that they were a minimum of 1 year old. The sales rep was extremely helpful and knowledge. We were instantly greeted right as we walked in. Their "free planting" advertising does not apply to all trees; it is only for their specimen trees, which are much larger and more mature. We were still able to get their 3 tree package with delivery and planting. Delivery was very prompt and professional. They completed the job quickly and added mulch and fertilizer to the trees. I do think the trees here are much higher priced than other places in town. Their sales reps seemed to be paid on commission because it was very high pressured and he seems like he didn't want us to leave without buying something. read more

Angel and his crew were out at our house yesterday to plant the last two trees that we bought and Angel and his crew were the best. They planted the trees where we wanted them and then checked on the other three trees that we had bought from them last year and adjusted the poles. UPDATE: I'm giving this place 5 stars. Today I received a phone call from one of the owners. He stated this was not the normal and he wanted to call me and make things right. I really do love this place the trees are pretty and the plants are beautiful, even to just walk around and learn about plants. He will be personally coming out and making sure that everything looks good. This is a great core value "going the extra mile" it shows that he values his customers very much. I found this place about a year ago and when we went everyone that we spoke with was very knowledgeable. Everyone was really nice and helped me start growing my garden. Well I'm not sure what has happened since then, but it's been a nightmare. Went to see about adding some new plants in our front and had a very long discussion about our area, clay soil and sun most of the days! Was told "these plants will do well and they will thrive" awesome we will take 4 at $29.99 each. Later that week we went and bout 2 trees!! Great price and we would have to wait about 3 weeks, no biggie. Present day - plants died, and they replaced them and where told they need compost to help break down the soil as clay is too wet for these plants! Trees arrived - almost 40 min late I had a doctor appointment that I had to get to. Come to find out they left a mess in my driveway, walked all through my new grass tracking thick mud through it. Started digging without putting a tarp down and dumped it on my grass. I called to speak to a manager, she send send me pics and I will get this resolved and didn't feel any compassion about the mistakes. I'm not one to be rude, I understand that these kind of things happen. So the next day I did not hear back so I texted to ask about eta she responded "someone will be there this afternoon". Lack of communication, lack of compassion for a mistake you made, lack of communication from the guy we bought from.... lack all the way around. I've had to clean up more of my yard today from the mud they left!! I'm just one customer they lost, and I know it won't mean anything. read more

Bottom branches were not uniform in anyway taking away from the beauty of the tree. Over time I dont believe bottom branches that are missing will magically grow back so I have 6 trees that are supposed to have a pyramid shape sadly do not. read more

Needed some full grown trees for a windbreak and privacy in our new home. Macy was extremely knowledgeable and explained pricing and pros/cons of several evergreen trees that we reviewed. She helped us select 3 Carolina Cherry and 1 beautiful 30-foot magnolia for our back yard. Ben and the install team arrived on schedule within 10 days! I would give this a negative million stars if possible. This is the biggest group of jokers I have done business with. They cannot even adhere to a binding contract. I bought 7 plants from them. They had a 90 day warranty (verbal and written). They were planted in early April. One died and one is looking like it will. I alerted them to this on May 10. Since May 10, it has taken more than 20 calls and texts to them, the regional office in Arizona and a central Texas manager to finally get one scheduled to be replaced. Only the regional people would even talk to me -- the Research Blvd shop is the main problem here, especially Nick and Bryn. But Nick extremely and especially. I had to escalate outside of this Research Blvd shop because Nick lied directly to me, said he didn't believe me that it was dead, told me on two different occasions he'd take care of it (he didn't -- that's the lie) and complete failed to hold up Moon Valley's side of the contract. Instead they were happy to take my money, promise me what they needed to in order to take my money and then not deliver all the way through. The Texas regional manager has been very helpful in getting this location to finally schedule the plant delivery, which was supposed to be today between 12-4. The shop called me yesterday to confirm this timeframe. So today I wasted a whole day waiting around for a ghost. At 4:30, no truck, no call. So I called FOUR TIMES and finally Nick answered. Here's another lie -- he said the crew was delayed and one man would break off with my tree and come plant it. It would only take as long as a drive across town. It's now 8:41 and no call, no truck, no tree. I could have driven to San Antonio and back since 4:30. In summary, it has been more than a month since I alerted them it was dead. I have been more than patient in working up the chain and not resorting to negative reviews and so on. Trying to work within their system to get the warranted replacement. Just trying to get what I paid for. But they used their last chance and the public needs to know these people are BAD OPERATORS. Avoid these liars and backstabbers at all costs -- they'll promise you the MOON and you'll end up in the VALLEY of death. read more
