I would give this a negative million stars if possible. This is the biggest group of jokers I have done business with. They cannot even adhere to a binding contract. I bought 7 plants from them. They had a 90 day warranty (verbal and written). They were planted in early April. One died and one is looking like it will. I alerted them to this on May 10. Since May 10, it has taken more than 20 calls and texts to them, the regional office in Arizona and a central Texas manager to finally get one scheduled to be replaced. Only the regional people would even talk to me -- the Research Blvd shop is the main problem here, especially Nick and Bryn. But Nick extremely and especially. I had to escalate outside of this Research Blvd shop because Nick lied directly to me, said he didn't believe me that it was dead, told me on two different occasions he'd take care of it (he didn't -- that's the lie) and complete failed to hold up Moon Valley's side of the contract. Instead they were happy to take my money, promise me what they needed to in order to take my money and then not deliver all the way through. The Texas regional manager has been very helpful in getting this location to finally schedule the plant delivery, which was supposed to be today between 12-4. The shop called me yesterday to confirm this timeframe. So today I wasted a whole day waiting around for a ghost. At 4:30, no truck, no call. So I called FOUR TIMES and finally Nick answered. Here's another lie -- he said the crew was delayed and one man would break off with my tree and come plant it. It would only take as long as a drive across town. It's now 8:41 and no call, no truck, no tree. I could have driven to San Antonio and back since 4:30. In summary, it has been more than a month since I alerted them it was dead. I have been more than patient in working up the chain and not resorting to negative reviews and so on. Trying to work within their system to get the warranted replacement. Just trying to get what I paid for. But they used their last chance and the public needs to know these people are BAD OPERATORS. Avoid these liars and backstabbers at all costs -- they'll promise you the MOON and you'll end up in the VALLEY of death. read more

Very frustrating that none of the bushes and trees are marked with a price, so you don't know how much anything is till you find someone. Then when I did find someone I asked him a few questions and he knew nothing about the plants. This nursery is a joke and hoping to take advantage of all of us Texans who lost our landscaping. Just an example on pricing... I saw this 2 ft. tall fiddle-leaf fig for $399! First of all this is an indoor plant and no one in South Texas should ever plant this outdoors or it will die of the heat. The the guy said this plant would be great outdoors. I usually don't write reviews and take negative reviews with a grain of salt, but after visiting yesterday, I had to share my incredibly negative experience. After walking around for over 30 minutes and being offered zero help, I finally was approached by someone. When I inquired about Texas Mountain Laurels and asked if they had any less than the 10 ft tall options, he said they might get some next week and walked away. I decided to buy a small citrus tree, but since there is no clear process for making a purchase if you've never been there, I went to the office to ask how/where to buy. He said "right here," so I told him what I wanted, he rang me up, I paid, he gave me a receipt. I asked a few plant care questions (because none of their clementine trees have care tags) and was spoken to like a complete idiot. I then asked if I should just go take one, or if someone would help me, and was told to just go take one. So I went back to the lot, receipt in hand, grabbed a tree and went to my car. After I loaded it, I was approached by an employee and told that one of the field crew workers called in and told them I was stealing a tree, so he needed to verify that I had paid. He was very accusatory, despite me doing exactly what I was told by the staff AND having my receipt literally in my hand. He finally looked at my receipt and my tree, and I was free to go. Everyone I encountered was dismissive, condescending, or rude. I understand that this is a very busy time of year, especially considering that we are all dealing with recovering from the February freeze, but I will absolutely not return to a business that accuses paying customers of theft. read more

Well, I just want to share my experience with Moonvalley nursery. I've always had a very a tentative person or persons with good advice and choosing my plants and bushes small trees for my house and garden now a week and a half ago I got a gardenia. It wasn't doing good. I was concerned. They told me to come right away with it. And they told me that they will replace it with no problem,very polite very Courteous. There is three young men helping me with it. I couldn't decide which one I wanted to swap it out with ,so I asked there opinion and they told me well go ahead and take two. I told him no I cannot do that. I've been buying a lot for of plants for my garden, and indoor plants as well. I I've already spent too much ,,,they told me no I mean, go ahead and take the two and I looked at him puzzled they said for the inconvenience he was giving me the other plant as a courtesy, and they went ahead and gave me as well a moon juice,which is for plants and bushes trees to bloom stay healthy well basically it's like a miracle juice for plants and trees .. they gave me a lot of healthy advice, for my gardenia bushes, gave me a water bottle because it was pretty hot out there. Let me tell you there was just a bunch a sweet individuals. The gentleman said, help me with all of this was Chase ,Trey, and one other young gentleman I didn't get his name . hno Sergio I had spoken to him on the phone about other plants he gave me his phone, so he could take pictures and video so he could take no a look and give me some advice on it, which helped a lot . But all in all they went beyond the call of duty. I just want to say I came home with the biggest smile happy thrilled, excited and I'm very grateful and I'm gonna tell as many people about Moonvalley nursery as well. I am writing to express my disappointment with Moon Valley Nursery. I purchased two large palm trees from them two years ago, and both of them have since died. However, my main concern is that they also destroyed our sprinkler system during the installation process. I wrote a negative review about this experience, and they responded by offering to come out and fix the sprinkler. I deleted my comment in good faith, but they never showed up to fix the sprinkler. I am now two years into having a broken sprinkler system, and I am very frustrated with Moon Valley's customer service. I would not recommend this company to anyone. read more

Harrison came out after scheduling a consult & gave great recommendations based on my yard, shade levels, and budget and our out flags for the trees. If you want the short hand review of our experience it was really good. Lots of trees onsite and you can pick your own. We ordered 11 trees "Huge Size" and had them installed. It was Not a perfect experience but Moon Valleys Experience and commitment to making sure we were 100% happy was a impressive and a rarity among most tree and landscaping companies. If given the opportunity we would definitely choose Moon Valley Nursery again! Thank you Chris, Nate, Teresa, Matt and the Crew for completely transforming our bare backyard. ( See Below for Detailed Experience ) As we mentioned we did not have a "perfect" experience with MVN but their commitment to making sure we were happy was Beyond impressive and is a true testament to how they do business. This is a solid company that stands behind their plants and wants to keep clients for life. This is not common among companies and it's hard to get tree or landscaping companies to call you back. Nate was my initial contact and was great to work with. Very knowledgeable about the selection and how they operate. Prices include installation which is so helpful! They showed up day prior to dig our holes and installed the next day. Teresa and crew were great while digging and jackhammering the holes for our trees. It was an all day job to dig the 11 large holes. Matt and crew installed 10 of our 11 trees without a hitch. A few small broken branches but that happens when they are installing a 7' tree.would have liked a bit more advisement on care but I think they needed to get to the next site because of rain. Our 11th tree is not installed but we are confident it will be ASAP. It's a citrus tree and they had a few hiccups while getting it onsite but I know Chris will deliver a beautiful Lime tree when they get it. Our communication with MVN got a bit confusing however they were always apologized for any confusion and answered and questions we had. They are newly expanded to the Austin area and still settling in. As with all business their will be issues but they are right there to fix or help. Going to their nursery I could easily see that they are Busy and moving lots of beautiful plants in and out so start up issues are normal. Sometimes we had to ask twice but that's ok because they did what they told us they were going to do in the We had several trees go into a bit of transplant shock two weeks after because of the crazy weather we had. Chris came out with a product sprayer ready to go and gave the items to us to use in the future. I will also mention that Chris was ok with us removing the trees and planting new ones if we were really unhappy but I didn't feel that necessary. I truly feel that we are in great Hands with Chris at Moon Valley Nursery - Austin. They want us to be happy and our beautiful new trees to thrive. Their commitment to their work is unmatched and that is what will keep us coming back as clients. I wanted 3 trees to provide privacy between my house and my neighbor. I explained to MVN that I had very rocky soil. I was recommended to plant Japanese Blueberries for this purpose. I trusted Moon Valley Nurseries to make appropriate recommendations for the climate and soil conditions. It appears that they only made recommendations based on the most expensive trees possible. The trees died the first winter. Luckily I had purchased the warranty. Moon Valley re-planted them, and two of them died the next winter and the third one barely survived. However, the last one died this winter. I live in a new development and all of the trees planted as part of the development survived. I feel that MNV took advantage of the opportunity to push very expensive trees ($3K) that were not the right for the soil/climate with no desire to make recommendations that were actually appropriate. Beware if looking for Moon Valley to provide expert recommendations. read more

I've been working with Christian Cowley on our backyard resurrection, and he has been superb as well. You get what you pay for. My biggest regret is going to moon valley over the other nurseries in the area. My husband and I ended up spending over $2500 on plants and labor for planting and *everything* we've purchased from them is dying- even after babying all of the plants through the winter with covers, special water and grow lights (even though the agaves we chose are tolerant down -10F) all of our very expensive agaves are dying, and even the Texas sage, which we thought would be the safest option, is dying. (We thought it'd be safe because we have others in the same bed that we planted previously that are doing well.) It also took over a month from ordering to planting, and even then they only had half our order and it took another month of waiting before we canceled the rest of our order because another nursery had delivered and planted the missing plants by then (for cheaper). And longer than that to get a refund. Dont recommend- avoid! read more

Zach and his crew were extremely thoughtful and considerate about each detail and did not mind taking the time to explain everything and answer questions and concerns. They worked to ensure no stone was left unturned while planting our trees in the dolemite terrain of this area in the Hill Country, and assured they would return if they need for any necessary tweaks or fixes arise. Everything provided by the delivery crew for an exceptional experience (CX) - was met. This means pretty much everything from my fruit tree and nut tree selection process was covered on the sales side to the delivery. On delivery day, I really appreciated the service professionalism, handling of the planter pot, transportation to and from their truck, professional planting process, and driveway washout. they provided mostly all of the materials - only thing I had used from my current supply that I wasn't exactly prepared for was some gardening soil but that stuff is cheaply obtained anyhow. Justin, their head services planter and driver was excellent and knew his trees and communicated everything I needed. I have used Moon Valley services before, but at the Phoenix location and this experience was great and nothing short of excellent and consistently excellent. I just had my trees planted this week. Justin, John and the rest of the crew were very courteous and respectful of the property. They hit a sprinkler line right around where I put the tree tag on, but they immediately fixed it and tested afterwards to make sure it works.
