The new manager, Marvin, came over and took our order apologizing profusely for the poor service and delighted us by being extra nice and offering a dessert on the house,which goes a long way with me. The duck was fabulous and my veggie sushi awesome. That is not the problem ever it's the waitstaff. If they could only fine tune that area the place would be fabulous. Ordered over 150 dollars of food and they forgot half the order. Once it came, my two orders of soup dumplings were completely raw. I threw them out and called for a refund politely and they talked down to me and told me I should not have tossed the raw food. Came here for Valentine's Day dinner with my husband. Nice decor inside, followed COVID rules, friendly wait staff. For appetizers we had the fried shrimp and lobster wontons, very creamy and you can taste the chives as well. It was ok. I ordered the Mongolian lamb chops and it was tender, flavorful and the vegetables were cooked to perfection. This dish was AMAZING! My husband ordered the dragon and pheonix and his chicken was cooked to be crispy and juicy. The seafood had huge juicy shrimps. When you eat great wonton soup it's apparent by the quality ingredients. The wontons themselves are dense but moist, well-chopped pork and other mix-ins. The slices of pork tangy broth and bits of scallion. So good. Then, well barbecued spare ribs in a delectable sauce. See my photo. We had moo shu that was served and nicely wrapped by our very attentive server. The general tso's chicken was great; even the broccoli. And speaking of which, I have never enjoyed plain old broccoli chicken like this before. The brown sauces at this restaurant are something comparable to those concocted by a chef trained in Paris. This is unique Chinese restaurant for quality food in a pleasant, large atmosphere. Takes me back to some of the great places long gone by. read more

We've lost our local everyday Chinese restaurant near us and are searching for a replacement. Unfortunately, Moonstone will NOT be it. We took out on Sunday evening and ordered their imperial beef short rib appetizer, chicken and string beans, and, roast pork and broccoli. While the short ribs are a little out there, the rest is pretty basic American/Chinese fare. The price, however, was not. $51 dollars for the three items. And while everything was tasty, this is way too much for such basic food. The fanciest dish, the short ribs, was the most disappointing. They were very chewy and it was a small order for $19. This is an upscale Asian restaurant. We went for lunch, and there is a wide ranging prix fixe lunch menu. I had a sushi appetizer and shrimp chow mei fun. My friend had a Raman dish and an egg roll. We also shared soup dumplings, and it all was excellent, as was the service. Why, then, is the fifth star missing? The prices. Although the prices were high, the lunch was worth it. However, my friend had a 12 year old McCallan on the rocks, and was charged $28.00. As a full bottle can be had for less than $60, I asked the waiter whether it was correct, or meant for the 18 year. He acknowledged that just the day before he had the same inquiry, and indeed the price was ridiculous. While the food tasted great, it just left a bad taste in my mouth. read more

Never disappointed in Moonstone. I've been here 3 times. The staff and food are always up to par. Friendly staff, delicious food. I love the sashimi salad. The kani salad is also great and so are the soups. The drinks are great too! I came here when I was pregnant and the bartender was nice enough to make me a pretty looking non-alcoholic drink so I didn't feel left out lol. Went here with my friend and had a really great experience. When we came they were serving half off for a bottle of wine so that was a huge plus. My friend and I started with the dim sum platter which comes with chicken, shrimp, pork, and veggie dumplings. They were quite delicious, packed with yummy fillings. She got 2 rolls (two hotties and the Alaska I believe) and I stayed simple with chicken with broccoli. Love how you can get both Japanese and Chinese cuisine at the same place. Her fish was really fresh and my chicken was delish. The service was great and the atmosphere is quite nice, we had a whole booth to ourselves. Lunch is a high priced compared to other places in the area. if you sit at the bar they serve pretty good sushi. This place used to be called harvest buffet but now they have renovated the whole place and it is now a high end restaurant serving food in many different Asian styles. They are not Asian authentic, they are Asian-American. Food is very high quality. Chefs are extremely skilled. Ambiance is high end Japanese-American style and very ritzy looking. They have an extensive wine collection that is on display in the back of the main dining area. Pricing for the dinner menu is pretty high, but you get what you pay for. This is a place where you could bring guests that you need to impress, and don't care about paying a little more. Parking is very plentiful for the location. I had received a flyer in the mail and I decided to try this place with my family for dinner. I will be coming back here. I found out this was the Old Harvest Buffet from the reviews written here. This place has a parking lot so that is good especially on busy Northern Boulevard. As soon as we entered the restaurant is just gorgeous, classy and beautiful. Loved the white tablecloths and beautiful silverware with napkins on the tables. Very clean and the restrooms were spotless and nicely designed. Love the bamboo style wall we were seated against. This place gets a 5 just for the upscale decor alone. What we ordered: Red Prawns Beef in Oyster sauce Wonton Soup Shrimp Fried Rice Dim Sum The red prawns were edible but I did not like the fact that they were breaded which made them too heavy on my stomach. The Beef in Oyster Sauce was sooo delicious - this is a must get. The mushrooms, sauce and snap peas made the dish taste great. The fact that the meat was delicately sliced thin made this a very appealing dish. The Wonton soup was pretty good with small wontons. Shrimp fried rice tasted fresh and delicious and my husband liked his seafood dim sum. It was a bummer that the sushi chef was not in that day but I hope to try the sushi here next time and maybe a yummy cocktail like the peach bellini which was tempting me from the menu but I had settled for black tea instead. read more

I was highly disappointed...from reviews and high prices, I figured high quality food...ordered Scallion pancakes, Chicken Lettuce wraps, and a large chicken with broccoli...the scallion pancakes were the only part of the meal edible..the chicken for the wraps and with the broccoli, completely looked like fish, and had an extreme fishy smell (and taste)....we tried to just eat the broccoli, but that was covered in a fishy coating from the chicken. The tasteful, balance and right amount of our food made everyone find the meal savory and delightful. The price listed for each meal in the menu is ranging from $$- $$$$ but based on what we have ordered- their Chilean sea bass, the fillet mignon, the live stir fry orange clam, the crunchy seafood fried rice and the fried tofu with veggies( sauteed in garlic and olive oil only - was a hit!), it is worth for the extra buck or two you add... not greasy, not salty and wont make you have this bloated feeling after eating as compared to other regular restaurant. I've ordered from here several times now and it's a solid Asian fusion restaurant. The menu is enormous offering a little bit of everything - Chinese, dim sum, Japanese, sushi, Thai, etc. The food is decently priced and the ingredients are above average when compared to other Chinese places. Inside is really nice too. It's brand new so everything is sleek and modern, and the service is good as well. I've sampled several of their dishes and they've all been good for the most part. On a Sunday evening, it's pretty quiet, so service should be exemplary. Asking for anything more than once is unacceptable. But food is delicious. Won ton soup for two comes in a tureen full of bok choy, sliced chicken, sliced pork, a few shrimp, snow peas and sliced carrots in addition to homemade won tons. Shredded beef was enjoyed by one dining companion, jumbo shrimp teriyaki with fresh veggies was another choice. My lamb chops in a merlot sauce served with baby bok choy was another great dinner. I have been coming to this restaurant for many months. I've enjoyed many lunches and several dinners. I can't lie, the food is amazing. Although there are several issues, the wait staff stands over you trying to remove your plate every time you put your fork down to take a breath. The second piece of feedback I have which is a huge pet peeve of mine - to charge $4 / unsweetened iced tea. Typically anywhere you go this is a free refill. Yet to charge $4 for a half glass of ice and a half glass of water that a tea bag has slightly sat in is ridiculous. The food is expensive, and worth every penny. Although you'd think they are making enough money or to have to charge $4 for every single glass of iced tea. If I would have ordered a glass of iced tea with no ice and then asked for a cup of ice I would have saved $4. I don't mind paying for great service and good food. Yet. Toning aggravates me more than being nickel and dimed. As we are regular customers I spoke with the hostess to share my feedback. She wasn't interested and I'm sure my feedback won't be passed up tue flagpole. When you are paying $175 for lunch, do you really need to nickel and dime over a half glass of brewed tea for $4? We have been faithful customers of Moonstone for about 5 years now. Although it is pricier than other Chinese restaurants, the quality was always worth it for us and we loved the food. The past few times we ordered, the quality has gone way down but we continued to order since we assumed they were just having off days. This is will be the last time we ever order food from here, as my pork soup dumplings came completely undercooked, with raw pork inside. I didn't realize this until I had already taken a bite, and now I'm worried about food poisoning. When we called to let them know, the lady asked how many we ate and how many were left...as if that really matters?? Deleted one star b/c the chicken wings we ordered weren't flavorful enough, meaning, while the exterior was excellent, the interior meat wasn't seasoned (perhaps a too-short marinating step?). Also, some of the accompanying sauces were thickened a little too aggressively as if okra was part of the dish (it wasn't). Otherwise, everything else we ordered was excellent, culminating in Green Prawn (highly recommended) which was extremely well made all the way around--from the shrimp to the delicious vegetables. The Glazed Barbecued Dragon Tail Spare Ribs were sublime: texture was perfect and the char-siu-style BBQ sauce marinade was just so perfect. The decor is upscale with one comment. Sometimes noise dampening design features help keep the ambient noise to a dull roar. All in all, you'll really like this place, as do many locals. I brought my friend here for dinner at 7pm on a Tuesday. I did not make a reservation, just walked in. There's a parking lot which makes this restaurant even more convenient! Upon arrival, we were greeted by a host and escorted to our table. There were 5-7 tables occupied and many unoccupied. The restaurant is gorgeous with a yellow/red themed lighting. There's a separate bar area and a dining area. I loved how quiet and intimate it was. We opted for the Prix Fixe (only available Monday-Thursday all evening) which included a first course, second course, main course and dessert. So here's what we had: 1st- Miso Soup: It was delish! I mean ... i've never actually had bad miso. 2nd- Shrimp and Mango Roll: the right temperature and a very good mix of sweet with subtle. Pan Seared Pepper Tuna: very classic plating with lots of flavor Main Course- Moonstone Fusion Prawn: SO.GOOD. The prawns were huge with lots of veggies beneath. This was paired with white rice which brought out the flavors of the sweet garlic sauce. Wok Tossed Ribeye Steak: Medium Rare, juicy,tender with veggies. Dessert: Crusty Banana Spring Roll with Lychee Sherbet- delicious and a great ending to the prix fixe. The roll was perfectly crisp! Overall, a really great dining experience. The ambiance is very warm and quiet. The service was impeccable- possibly the best i've ever had. Everything went better than expected upon arrival, throughout dinner and even when we exited! For lunch we had Shrimp & Scallops in Garlic Sauce as well as General Tso Shrimp both came with a side of fried rice. The lunch menu also included an appetizer so we decided on sushi (California Rolls if that counts for the sushi lovers lol) as well as the Duck Spring rolls.
