Our company, A Better Way Inc. here in Berkeley had some water damage resulting in major restoration work. While workers were replacing the floors it was discovered that we had water in some ducts underneath preventing them from replacing the floor. I contacted Moore Mechanical, explained the urgency of the repair to Miguel and he personally came out to give an on the spot estimate and guess what, the work was done the same day by one of his technicians, Hedayatullah who was extremely efficient. Moore Mechanical offered a fair price for the repair and was able to get the job done the same day so the replacement of the floor could resume on schedule. AC does not blow out cold air at my condo and I cannot access my AC unit due to HOA rules. Therefore, self diagnostic is not an option. Got Moore Mechanical's number from HOA office visitor sign in form to ensure someone who is familiar with this community for the service. Technician Ron was very nice easy to work with. He was able to quickly diagnos the issue after checking thr AC unit on roof top and shown me the pictures of bad capacitor and contactor. Provided estimate with two options and I selected the essential replacement option in order to get the cool air again. The job was done on the same visit and AC works well so far (fix done today). Payment and paper works are electronic so quick and convenient. I am satisfied with the service overall but would have been better if diagnostic charge can used as credit for the repaire since you have first identify the problem in order to fix it. read more

We've used Steve and his crew for installing new ducts under our house. When we had a problem bc of rats, they came back 3 years later and replaced with a heavy duty material and threw in the labor. The guys did a good job of removing the old duct work with minimal mess (bc they cleaned up well after themselves). We have also had our heater and air conditioner serviced, and after a few years replaced. The servicing regularly keeps the units from going out on the super hot days or super cold days. So I've never had any problems with either my air conditioner or heater because of the regular maintenance. read more

I understand that HVAC companies are in high demand especially during the summer season and labor costs reflect that but beware. I had Moore Mechanical come out to diagnose a faulty TXV, cost for the service visit was $125. When I scheduled the repair, I was told that the repair would take between 3 and 4 hours of labor to complete. The initial estimate for the repair included replacing the part (which was covered under warranty!), pumping down the system, replacing the part and recharging the system with the recovered refrigerant. The estimate also included the installation of a new drier filter, torch materials, etc. Technician showed up at the scheduled time, he pumped down and evacuated the refrigerant. He then went to the attic to replace the TXV, which took no longer than 20 minutes. The TXV is threaded in, so no soldering required. The tech who diagnosed the issue, should have noticed the TXV can be replaced rather quickly. He then vacuumed the system and released the charge. He completed the entire job in under 2 hours, which is great, but I should not have been charged for 3-4 hours of work. I also asked the tech about the drier filter that was on the estimate, he replied that it does not have to be replaced. Why was I charged for the filter and the labor? The tech basically said, if I want the new filter, he needs to start the work all over. Well, it was part of the estimate, and he should have replaced it right away before recharging the system and me asking about it. No soldering labor was performed, and no soldering material was used for the entire job. He reduced the final invoice because he was able to use the recovered R-410. The final charge for the job was $2,000, no materials used and considering the part was under warranty, this is outrageous for a 2-hour job. I tried to contact their billing department several times to have them explain and itemize the invoice, but (shockingly) every time I called, I am told they are not available, and they would return my call. Still waiting for that. Also, the final invoice lists 2 technicians, but there was only one on site. I am very unhappy about their nontransparency in their estimate and invoice, everything seems to be baked into one job to replace a part, no matter how long it takes. Well, this time it was $1,000 an hour labor. 35 years in the business or not, think again hiring this company. read more

This company is a joke. They no doubt have good techs, if you can get one! I called this morning (on a Saturday) and received an afternoon appointment to have our AC repaired. I was told at least six different times email/chat that someone would be contacting me. We waited all day, and wasted the entire day, and no one showed up, not even a phone call, text, or email. If they were not coming, at least notification would have been nice. It's almost like they wanted me on the hook and to not have me call another company. 3 stars After living in my crib for almost 10 years, I realized I should have my A/C checked out - especially after global warming gave me the gift of a 100 degree week in June 2017. After asking around, my buddy recommended Moore. My thoughts are as follows: Overall, I'm satisfied, but there were a few bumps 'n bruises along the way. Here's the good & so-so... Good: I put in an online request and they called back within a day - many companies never respond to online requests. Teylor was very helpful on the telephone. Since my friend referred me and I was close to their shop, they squeezed me in on short-notice. The technician was a nice young guy who seemed to care about his work. When a scheduling change occurred, they had the courtesy to call first thing in the AM. So-so: Original appointment got moved due to their technician calling in sick - day after 4th of July (bad hot dogs, too many beers?) Tech showed up without replacement filters (and I made a point of emailing them the correct sizes beforehand). Dirty hands opening the crawl space cover had me wiping paint (I had to get a ladder out and cleaning supplies). No booties offered to go in/out of my home. Replacement filters never made it to my home - another visit required. Final outcome: Since there is a replacement part necessary, I'm hoping the next visit can replace filters, replace defective part and keep dirty hands off the crawl space cover so that I don't have to spend time cleaning up after their visit. 3 stars for now...with the potential to go up/down (fingers crossed). read more

These guys are still #1 on my list in the East Bay. While things get a little expensive (it's Bay pricing), they don't mess around with giving you a bad deal. Mike came out this time and provided us a look at the overall AC since it was acting funny. Caught a capacitor blowing out which saved me some bucks from having to replace a motor. Great guy and explained everything as he did it that I appreciated. They've helped us on our furnace and AC so far and are our go-to HVAC professionals. Did I mention, ask for Mike? No? We got our heat pump/furnace installed about 3 weeks ago. On day one it was not working properly since the wrong part was installed. Who doesn't check parts before its installed? The crew left handprints on our wall, doors and staircase, they were NOT wearing gloves when I was reassured they would wear gloves. They chipped a part of our closet door and stained our pavers in the backyard. Paul let the oil spill all over the pavers and when confronted he was nonchalant about it, which is quite unprofessional. Once I received the bill it was incorrect and they were charging us $500 more than what we signed on the contract. Kevin did try to make things right as best he can, though Brooke is in charge of scheduling and trying to get our pavers cleaned up. She has not offered to fix our closet door. Now, we are about 3 weeks out and we still do not have an ETA of when Craig (Bates Clean and Seal) is coming out to look at the pavers, let alone a date on when it will be cleaned. The last time I spoke to Brooke, it sounded like she forgot about scheduling him to come out. We are still missing 2 vent grills that was 'delayed due to covid'. The company is BBB and Diamond certified, and we went with them because of their service and 'expertise' though that has not been our experience. Not all of their technicians are NATE certified, and only 80% needs to be certified. This whole experience has been a disappointment and we are still waiting for Moore Mechanical to make things right. If it wasn't for Kevin and for the Carrier system, I would have given them 1 star. read more

I called the service on Sunday evening, didn't expect anyone will respond. Surprisingly, I got the response from the technician very quickly. The disappointed part was the initial visit, they charged $125 no matter you continue the fixing with them or not, $125 is a separate service charge. I think the company needs to explain this to the customers before sending the technician. The good thing is the technician was able to find the problem and got the parts ordered and replaced. He was a polite and confident gentleman. I am glad the house is not cold any more. read more
