Wow! What a great tasting burger! My daughter and I were down from Vail and were very surprised and excited after one bite!! They cook the delicious burger (which is raised locally) over lava rock and it's got this smokey amazing flavor!! Wow!! We got the mother load and the jaw. Fantastic!! This is definitely a locals hang out, not so much for the tourist - i.e. myself and family. They just have PBR and Coors on tap, that's it. They have a better selection of bottled beer, but I can always buy that at the store. I didn't try any meals there but their appetizer selection is SMALL - fries, chips & salsa. Not impressed whatsoever. Overpriced, food tastes like the same oil has been used for years, and you cannot split a check even if the table has several parties. Let me preface this by saying I do not have a problem with dive bars. I used to live in a ghetto suburb of Phoenix where dead bodies where often found in my zip code. Our apartment was literally next door to a dive bar that I frequently visited for cheap beer. Now to present day, I met up with my husband and his co-worker here. We came for a drink, but I also happened to be hungry so we ordered food too. I actually thought the food was decent, but this place sucks because of the service. After the guy told us to sit down, we were literally ignored. We just sat there staring at the guy, and he looked at us from behind the bar, and continued to ignore us. It was creepy. Finally, another guy emerged from the back, noticed we were being ignored, and came to take our order. He seemed nice until he made a rude comment about people who eat veggie burgers when we asked about the one they serve (yeah yeah, ha ha, mm bacon, your jokes aren't new) . Anyways, the whole experience was weird and uncomfortable. And the guy behind the bar kept mean mugging us. It was like, if they don't know you, then you're not welcome. I had my hair pulled up in a bun, and he said "what the fuck is that, do you think you are a samurai? Looks ridiculous", then said sorry if that's rude. The bartender then comes over and apologizes and said he's an asshole. If he's an asshole why is he employed. His food sucks ass, anyone could cook that shit. Awful! If I could give negative stars I would. Went there last week. Walked in wasn't sure if it's seat yourself or wait to be seated. The waitress/hostess was right by the door when we walked in so we know she knew we were there but chose not to acknowledge us. After several minutes of standing at the door I finally walked up to her at the bar to ask if we could sit at the empty table in front of where we were standing. Service was slow. Overpriced poor quality food. Frozen pizza literally served on Red Baron Box it comes in. Another couple came in shortly after we sat down. They too waited at the door for acknowledgement from the waitress/hostess who walked right up to them and turn to go to a table next to the door. The couple turned around and walked out. Not really a "dive bar" on the Dive Bar scale, top end maybe. Had an early dinner and the place was just what we needed after 4 days on the slopes. Easy going local bar. Just a few people. Judging by the nostalgia it's been around a long time. I wouldn't hesitate to bring children to eat lunch or early dinner. The mother lode is a $6 burger that'll cost $10. The food is totally mediocre and I was utterly disappointed that they serve mustard via packets. They also have unlabeled table condiments and no salt or pepper which is desperately needed. Cool. The burger was well cooked super low grade meat. The bun was a sloppy wonder bread mess. The toppings were nearly non existent on the mother lode burger. That's the burger which is supposed to have a ton of stuff, needless to say I was super disappointed. Ordering food I asked if they could upgrade my fries to chili cheese fries which they serve alone for $7. They refused and suggested I get a $6 bowl of chili to dump on my fries. Pass. Beer choice is garbage. Literally just Coors and Bud etc. The tap selection can be summed up as cheap shitty piss water. However if they turned up the lights you wouldn't expect much more. The only commonality it has with a good dive bar is the D. The D stands for dump. This place is a total dump. So I went in with some starving friends and they refuse to split the bill so we can pay individually. Absolutely miserable service. Mediocre food. No beer selection. Grungy and crappy. This place used to be great but then went down hill. Hadn't been in for years so decided to try again. Mistake. The unmasked bartender pouring drinks was yelling at people who were properly masked to socially distance more. She then walked out from behind the bar and continued yelling all the way back to the end of the restaurant. She did her part to spread germs. The food coming out of the kitchen looked like something from a convenience store so we skipped it finishing our "little" beers. Frisco has plenty of other places to eat. read more

Moose Jaw has the honor of my first 1 star rating. Really mediocre food and awful service are two descriptions for my experience here. We waited for 1.5 hours for 3 burgers; all of which were very meh. The patty was very dry and the fries were burnt to the crisp. The toppings were less than memorable as well. The ski resort burgers are far better (though, twice the price, unfortunately). All things considering, I would probably rather go to a fast food burger joint than Moose Jaw. The quality isn't much worse and the prices are much better. Avoid Moose Jaw at all costs. read more

Finding a good place to eat AND Drink in Summit County that leaves you sated after a hard day of skiiing without emptying your pockets has been a continual 3-year search for me. Finally, I can say, "Found it!!!" Do not expect avant-garde quisine. Expect burgers and fries for $7-10 that far outweigh the $10 burgers on the mountain and McDonald's in both substance and taste. Don't expect frilly drinks and a huge selection of foreign beers. Expect a full bar with a heavy pour and $2 pint drafts. Don't expect white tablecloths and patient waiters...You get readable tables with gouges and postcards from all over the world, and good-natured servers with names like "Dirty" that swoop over and get the job done fast with a wink and smile. I once remonstrated a few people a while ago for reviewing a dive bar for their exemplary burgers when the atmosphere, music (in the case of the other bar provided via jukebox), and general employee malaise were the draw to said establishment (Casino El Camino in Austin, TX). It is now my turn to review a dive bar for its burgers. I'm not certain if it was the long day driving through the snowy mountains on windy roads, but I was ravenous. (Loveland Pass is easily terrifying for a person who lives on an almost completely flat city at sea level-Houston.) My burger and fries were amazing. Savory without being terribly greasy. I love the atmosphere. 70s era softball kitsch indeed! Framed team photos and newspaper clippings blanket the walls. The tables are awesome. Many of them are old weathered wood with holes where the knots used to be. Others are resin coated protecting postcards "addressed to the bar." I can only imagine that decades ago there was a bar event where everyone was invited to write postcards to the bar. In fact Ozzy and Harriet must have been there, or perhaps they just sent a postcard to Moose Jaw years and years ago from their black and white picture tube. :) read more

I have been going to this place for 25 years and hands down the best burger in the Summit County - Erics in breck and the Goat in Key do not even compare.. go to these places if you want a dried up beef biscuit.. This place has so much character it oozes of you when leaving.. Like Ryan says the crowd is a little rough and stuck in the 70's/80's - you could get in a tussle if you try an hustle the wrong guy on the pool tables in the back..
