We contacted Moovers for an estimate just a few days before we moved, but they were able to come out the next day, and we were happy with the estimate. The "Moovers" (4 guys) showed up right on time the day of the move and we did a walk through of the house (we packed everything already). They were friendly and professional, and we couldn't believe how fast and efficient they were. We bought them pizzas for lunch at the new house and they seemed very grateful, and they were touched that we used real plates, knives and forks. After lunch, they continued to unload the truck and before we knew it, they were done - almost 2 hours under the estimated time! We couldn't believe it! They placed all the furniture and boxes as we requested, without scratching or damaging anything, and that included an upright piano. We gave them each a generous tip because we couldn't be happier. The last time we moved, it was from a 2 bd 2 ba apartment to a 2 bd house 4 miles away. It cost over $2,000 and it took almost 15 hours, with the guys getting lost for over an hour and me sitting in front of the new house, almost in tears, thinking the guys had made off with everything we had. It was such a bad experience that we were really nervous about moving again. This time with Moovers, we moved into a 3 bd house 2 miles away, and it was under $800!!!! It was also quite stress-free as moving goes. It was only 4pm in the afternoon when the Moovers left, and we sat on the couch at our new house, completely amazed that it was done. Simply the best, most reliable, affordable movers in the Bay Area. I called many movers for my move back east, and was quoted MUCH higher prices. Jayson Berger returned emails promptly and came quickly to give me an estimate for the move. I am incapable of moving and packing (mental block) and Moovers, Inc (also called Matthews Contract Service) came with three guys and boxes and packed me in about three hours. It was amazing. Avoid for long moves. Pros: Sales guy was nice and professional, and they follow federal laws (this is rare). Insurance guy was good. (hence two stars) Cons: Weight estimate was obviously high; minimum price depended on weight estimate. Movers were unprofessional - arrived late; dicked around; dumped out my filing cabinets into a box after I asked them not to; left things; complained about being up until 2 am the previous day moving another customer. I had over $1000 in damaged/lost goods: wood furniture water logged; buttons missing from tv; pieces pulled off electronics; several missing boxes; iron corroded; ironing board bent; no tool box; no lamps; damaged wood; picture frames shattered; diploma crumpled up after being removed from protective casing. We got a few of someone else's packages. Upon ordering delivery, was told that our possessions would be several MONTHS late; stuff showed up on a random morning with NO NOTICE (not months late). Was yelled at (actually raised voices) by moving team, manager, secretary (I think?). Yelling sometimes began before I got my name out - I did not do anything to provoke that kind of reaction. Manager attempted to lie about delivery window until I proffered phone records. The problem is poor logistics management and low morale coupled an unprofessional attitude across the board. I understand from other websites that management may have changed a couple years back. I work in an industry where cross country moves among my colleagues happen daily. I am asked regularly for my opinion about various movers. I talk to folks about different movers we have used. My experience was unusually bad. Do not expect this kind of service from a legitimate company. Oh, and they're relatively pricey - shop around. Edit: Moovers reached out to me via Yelp to try and resolve any outstanding issues. It wasn't quite an apology, but it was something. Another note - the delivery folks did apologize pretty much immediately once they settled down. I went with Moovers after a friend recommended them to me post cross country move- my decision was further solidified after reading their yelp reviews. I have to say, they lived up to 'em. The fellas arrived on time, were incredibly personable (and fun!), had great attention to detail, and seemed to truly want to make my move as easy as possible for me. They were in and out in about three hours for my 1 bedroom place, and I couldn't feel more confident in anyone else driving away with all of my belongings- simply great. I sympathize with the people who have had stuff broken. That was not my experience at all. We wrapped our own stuff and moved from Berkeley, to Western Mass. It took them 10 business days to move everything, but so far, everything is intact and they were very nice and quick. We used Moovers, Inc. on 10/14/10 for our relocation from Danville, CA to Orange County and they were . . . what's the word? Oh, right, fantastic. They showed up on time, were completely friendly and helpful, and busted tail for an entire day finishing the packing and loading the truck. We'd been in the same house almost 10 years, and had accumulated a lot of heavy furniture and artwork, and everything -- literally everything -- was delivered in the same condition it was in when it left our house. We had an entire truck to ourselves, and it took another full day for them to unload the furniture and boxes, and the crew in Orange County (different guys) were just as helpful, friendly, and prompt. First let me say, my husband and I seem to move every five to six years, (about 8 times in all) so we have definitely experienced the good, the bad, and the ugly, and I've got to say Moovers Inc, most certainly is right up there with the best of the best. The entire operation, from start to finish was timely and staffed by a reassuring, and knowledgeable team of professionals Because my husband and I have lots of "stuff" and we were moving to another state, the move was staged with one full day of packing, a second day to actually load the truck and then a third to unload at the new house. Richard and Mike headed up the crew that made this a worry free move. As you would expect from professional movers, everything was packaged, padded, boxed, and protected. Their organization and labeling made unpacking a whole lot easier than I anticipated. But the very best, and truly a sign that they "get it" regarding customer service was when I couldn't decide exactly where I wanted a very heavy piece of art work placed. Prompt and professional for the most part. We had 3 guys. One managed and packed away equipment, one worked super hard, and one was....the new guy, not at all strong. But we got our stuff moved and reassembled. They drove super slow, uh, carefully, and our stuff was not at all damaged. They parked in our neighbor's driveway even though we went to great pains to hog a space in front of our house. Sure enough, we had to halt moving to move the truck when my neighbor had to leave. So this is my long overdue report.... Moovers moved our 4-bedroom house and our SUV from California to Vermont in December 2011. I set up everything over the phone with Keith and Richard handled the physical move. I had about 3 other solid quotes (including 2 people that came to my home) and I read many of the reviews on yelp (including the bad ones!). I decided to go with Moovers because I liked Kieth, he was very straight-forward and honest, they were able to commit to a fast move for us (guaranteed 7 days), and the price was the best. Richard took care of the move perfectly and his guys on both ends of the move were great. They took special care of all of our things and were extra careful to talk with us about items we told them needed extra attention. I also had them pack all special items and everything was carefully packed. Everything arrived exactly on time. We were in cell phone contact the whole week and I knew exactly how things were going. They did good! We've had some bad experiences in the past with moves, but not with these folks. This one was a long distance move (I was moving my mother from Oakland to Austin) and they were friendly and efficient on both sides of the move, from the estimating, to the pick-up to the drop-off. There was a tiny bit of confusion around pricing because of an added "long driveway" charge on the drop-off end, but it was not a huge deal and I never felt like I was being played or mislead. In addition, friendliness is an important aspect of any business transaction for me and they seemed both friendly and sincere. I'd use them again in a heartbeat. read more

I hired Moovers Inc. for my second move from Irvine to Sacramento in late February 2010, eight months after they moved me from Brooklyn to Irvine. I was so pleased with the professional service that I received during my first move and with how quickly and carefully they worked, that I chose them again last month. I had an apartment full of possessions including some delicate electronic equipment: two turntables, a high end mixer and several larger stadium style speakers which I was encouraged to see were wrapped and packaged carefully and protected completely during the move. Within a few minutes of the scheduled time, the driver, Dwight, showed up at my father's home in a Moovers Inc. tractor-trailer moving truck. He cataloged and carried my protected items on the truck including a queen sized mattress and box spring. I found Moovers to be friendly and efficient and in under an hour, all of my boxes, furniture and equipment were carried aboard and secured on the truck. I was concerned because due to prior commitments I was not able to meet the arriving shipment at the destination, my apartment building in Sacramento, but I shouldn't have worried. The company agreed to store all of my moved items in their warehouse the following week and deliver them when my apartment manager was in the apartment to receive them. By her account, the delivery portion of the move went as smoothly as the shipment. Moovers Inc. arrived promptly at the arranged time and brought all of my possessions up to my second floor apartment. They set up the frame of my bed and placed the box spring and mattress properly. The boxes were arranged carefully and neatly within the apartment. My electronic equipment was placed together in the apartment and arrived in perfect condition. Overall, I have high praise for Moovers Inc. During both my cross country move in early July, 2009 and my intrastate move last month, they were honest, courteous and skilled throughout the move. My delicate electronic items were treated with care and arrived without any damage. I will recommend Moovers Inc. to friends and I will be using them myself in the future should I leave Sacramento. This was my wife's and my first time using a moving company, and we moved from AL to CA. The new company I was hired put me in touch with Moovers, and we're so glad that they did. Our driver was Mike G., and I really think that he made all of the difference in the world for our move. He showed up a day early to pack (after calling us for permission). He was kind, courteous, and really helpful for a couple who wasn't sure about the whole process. Because we were in AL, a couple of packers from a local company were hired. Mike made sure that they packed everything well, and was packing like crazy right along side of them. We were on a reaaallly tight schedule when arriving in CA, and there was really only one day that would work for us. After telling Mike this, he got the local crew to show up early the second morning so that he could get on the road earlier. I can't believe it, but he actually made it on the day we needed him to! The crew he brought along in CA was actually from Moovers, and they were great guys, too. Completely willing to put everything where we wanted it, and they never once complained when we asked them to change the location of a dresser, or the bed, etc. Not a single thing was broken, which we were pleasantly surprised about, after hearing moving stories from friends and family. The only issue we had was with the estimating process. Because we weren't local, we had to fill out a sheet with what was in our house, and that somehow showed that we had over 11,000 pounds worth of stuff. This was going to be way too expensive, so we got onsite estimates from a few other companies. They all came in around 6,500 pounds. We went back to Moovers with this info, and they agreed to lower the "guaranteed not to exceed" weight. All in all, we were very happy that we went with Moovers, and like I said, I think a huge part of that had to do with our driver. But you've got to give credit to a company for hiring such quality employees. read more

I used this company on the 19th of December,and it was storming outside. I knew they would cancel because the weather was bad. Instead they moved me and was very careful with my belongings. They were plesant and professional. I did tip them at the end of the job but it wasn't enough money because they deserved more. I've used Moovers twice in the last year and a half. The first move was from Washington, DC to San Mateo. The second move was a local one, from San Mateo to Sausalito. I did all the packing myself on both moves. I was extremely satisfied both times: *Their charges were reasonable *They came in under estimate for the DC-CA move (the San Mateo-Sausalito move was a flat rate) *They delivered the furniture when they initially said they expected to on the DC-CA move *They showed up on time for both moves *Everyone I dealt with was very pleasant *They kept me updated about where the drivers were during the DC-CA move *They were very careful with my belongings; nothing was damaged *They recommended disassembling an antique table; they quickly yet carefully disassembled it and reassembled on both moves I've used other moving companies in the past but have not been nearly as satisfied as I was with Moovers, primarily because of damage done to my furniture by the other companies. We moved yesterday from Sacramento to Lafayette. The Moovers, Inc. Crew of Jason, Daryl, Mike W. and Rocky could not have been better. The move was difficult due to the fact that the destination was a 3 story townhouse. I can't believe that they were able to get all of our stuff into the new place. 3 years ago, the first time I used Moovers, Inc for my first cross-country move, I would have given the company 5 stars... this time, however, is a different story. First the movers show up 2 days early, so basically nothing was packed. They proceed to "help" me with packing - by throwing anything that wasn't glass or already packed into a box. Yeah, they wrapped my dishes, but everything else was a disaster. My stainless steel crockport arrived with a huge dent in the side of it, among other things. Skip to the truck's cross-country journey. At the last minute my driver was changed, so my stuff was unloaded into a warehouse and sat there for SEVERAL days (i.e. they came and got it 2 days before I left California, and a week after **I** LEFT, it was STILL in California). Then the movers arrive 2 days late (they have 14 days to get it there... it took them 16 - and getting what I deemed a MINIMAL compensation for this was a task in itself) I am reviewing the inventory as they unload. MANY of my items were listed as "customer refused pack" or "packed by owner" when, at no point, did i refuse a pack or the items were not packed by me (in other words, any of the damages are "my fault"). One item in particular was broken when it arrived at the warehouse, so they just decided not to deliver it at all. They just tossed it without asking me. Awesome. At the time of delivery I told the mover multiple times that at least one box was missing. He told me to just "check through everything after you get settled to make sure" because "things were happening quickly" (no they weren't). I was correct, an entire box of kitchen items including some silverware, glasses, and expensive mixing bowls was MIA. I never got that box back. I had packed a pink iPod in one of the things that was moved. It was not in my items when they were delivered. I imagine it was stolen during its time in the warehouse. I only think this because more than one of my containers had OBVIOUSLY been cut open, rifled through, and re-taped. A plastic container of mine actually had stuff that wasn't even mine in it, so it wasn't only my stuff being gone through. I'm sure whoever has a son named William and does horse shows is probably in possession of my box of glass mixing bowls. read more

My husband and I had a very positive experience with Moovers Inc. In fact, I had trouble finding a moving company that would ship my household goods other than Moovers. My husband and I were already residing in California when we needed to ship from Nebraska some of my pre-marriage goods and furniture that the Army would not pay to move. My load only added up to about 2500 lbs, and I had a difficult time finding a company that would go to rural Nebraska to pick up such a small load. Enter Moovers Inc. Not only did they give me our lowest quote, it was also a firm quote. I had organized and packed my items in early November before returning to California, and I expected that I might see my stuff until January since I hadn't even started hunting for a moving company. Moovers, however, was able to pick up my stuff five days after I called them and have them delivered to Monterey, CA less than a week after pickup. They were even super flexible with the pickup and dropoff days. Because my mother, who was overseeing the loading process, was out of town, they waited an extra day to get my goods. Then, they willingly arranged for a Saturday drop off in Cali as it was impossible for either my husband or I to get off of work on a week day. Great price. Great service. I would rate them five stars out of five stars except that I'm a picky rater and only give perfect scores for perfect service. My only criticism is that I didn't feel that they were as gentle with my items as I would have been. They were careful for the most part, but I'm picky and paranoid. That said, everything arrived unbroken and unmarred, and I must say that their wrapping of my furniture was exceptional. I personally would have been a bit more gentle in handling it. That said, my husband was more than satisfied and would have rated them five for five. In sum, I would definitely hire this group again. read more

The company is fantastic. I had a great experience with Moovers Inc. and our office move. The sales representative came out to our office one day after I contacted them and gave us a fair quote. The moving team arrived on time and were professional and quick. Mike D. and Howard M. were careful as they packed up our office furniture and equipment in a couple of hours. They didn't take a break or stop for lunch on the way to the new office (even though it was lunch time). They unpacked our office and even set up everything in the new space exactly where we wanted it (and even moved things around when I changed my mind). They also put all our boxes & office supplies in the correct rooms. Their office representative, Jackie, even changed our move date (the day before) without a hassle or charging us any extra fees (who does that?). When everything was done, the invoice was cheaper than what I was quoted; I was so impressed by Mike & Howard's service that I gave them the original amount anyway. The day after christmas our crappy landlords decided they were not going to hold up the deal we had and gave us 60 days. This was a year earlier than we had anticipated. So I called a bunch of moving companies to get quotes. There were only 2 out of 10 that I felt comfortable with and only Robert from Moovers had a affordable quote. Luckily we found a great house to buy.58 days later they showed up to pack everything I did not get to. Took a half day to pack. The next day we moved. The guys were professional and quick. Nothing broken and had a whole 2200 sq ft house moved and the re assembled by 3. My only gripe was that we missed or they forgot to tell us about payment options. Had to pay extra to use credit card. I called Mike from Moovers to move half of our household to storage, with the possible second opportunity to move the balance of our belongings from our home and storage into a new home. We had more than 50 stairs UP to the main street (or steps down to a busier street) and plenty of bulky furnishings...including an upright piano. Mike produced a written quote that looked very reasonable, and we took a chance on them for part 1 of our move. They did a perfect job. The first job was under their quoted time, so I actually saved money. The second job went over, but they stayed to their quote. The guys were friendly, professional, and really careful with our belongings. I highly, highly recommend Moovers. One little note...they add a service fee for using your credit card, and they don't take personal checks...just certified checks. But they are still worth it. read more

200% Satisfied! Honestly I thought affording this move was going to be out of the question. When they contacted me, I had already received a quote from a couple of other moving companies and was very skeptical that this was going to be any different. Their scheduler was very polite and I explained to her that we had decided to rent trailers and attempt to move ourselves. She said, "Well, if you'd like to give us the opportunity, I can send someone out and take a look just in case we can help you." The very next day, (I was out of time!), Charles came out. He was very professional and obviously knew what he was doing. I never felt any sales pressure or underhanded sales tactics. Their pricing was great and I was sold. On the day of the move, Robert and his crew showed up exactly on time. They set to work immediately and took great care with my belongings. They met my husband on the other end of the move down in Southern California and again, prompt and professional. I am beyond pleased! On the whole, my experience with Moovers was great. I needed a cross country (CA to NH) move on short notice, and they were able to guarantee my delivery dates with competitive prices. Before the move, I mostly interacted with Keith Dolphin. He was professional and responsive. He answered all of my questions, and worked with me on price. The movers showed up promptly on moving day (actually an hour early, which was a little frustrating, but I'd much rather have them an hour early than an hour late). Although we had thought we wouldn't need a shuttle van to the big van, it turned out we did, and the movers adapted to that very quickly and easily. Our inventory was meticulously catalogued. The movers were friendly and efficient. I know you would expect movers to be strong, but I was amazed at what some of these guys could lift! They packed our electronics and furniture very well. Also, our stuff was going to 2 different locations in NH, and they were great about separating all our stuff out so that it could be easily unloaded at the other end. The whole day went very smoothly. It turned out that our load was above our estimated weight, but we were not charged above our price estimate, which was really nice. Once our stuff was off, I got a call every day or two from the driver to let me know his progress across the country. He hit a snow storm in Wyoming and got waylaid for more than a day, and he kept me apprised of the situation every step of the way. Finally at the other end, he drove all night to get to us on the day that would be easier for us. He arrived promptly at the time we had agreed upon. Our driver had had to arrange to have a local crew help with the unloading. Although the driver was punctual, the local crew was about an hour late arriving, but I don't blame that on the driver or Moovers. When they did arrive, however, they were very good. They put down mats to protect our floors. They were diligent and careful. We weren't required to pay anything until the truck was being unloaded. I think everyone's heard those horror stories about moving companies that make you pay up front and then won't unload unless you pay them more. Nothing like that here. And no hidden charges. As I said, even though our load was over the estimate, we paid only exactly what the estimate had been up front. Besides the 2 stops in NH, another big challenge was that the second stop was up a mountain on small back roads, and the truck was huge. The driver was really great about getting the truck up there. I could hardly believe the manuevering he did. Very impressive, and certainly saved a lot of hassle from getting a shuttle out there. The only reason Moovers gets a 4 out of 5 stars, instead of 5 out of 5, is that we actually had a fair bit of damage. Even the driver said it was a lot more than he usually sees, although I take that with a grain of salt, because in a way, it is a rather self-serving statement. Nothing was out and out destroyed, but there were a few too many new scratches on furniture, and damaged lamps and such. However, the driver was upfront and apologetic and took us through exactly how to make damage claims with the company. So despite the damage, all in all, I would definitely recommend Moovers. They made a very stressful move much less so. read more

My husband and I recently moved from a large 360 sq ft storage unit in Tucson, AZ to Charleston, SC with a second stop at another 300 sq ft storage unit in Wichita. Moovers, Inc didn't do any packing for us as everything was already packed so I can't speak to that, but the move itself was fantastic. Keith gave us a right on estimate for the move, by just looking over the two inventories I sent him. Robert met the manager of the storage unit in Tucson, loaded the truck and then called me to let me know he was on the road to Wichita. I flew to Wichita and met him at the second storage facility. His local crew had us loaded in about 4-5 hours and off he went to Charleston. I flew back to Charleston and closed on our house the same day. The next morning bright and early there was Robert ready to unload. It took them the better part of the whole day to get us moved in, but by the end of the day we had furniture in the house and boxes filling up the 2-car garage. The house in Charleston is a 2-story and there are 3 bedrooms on the top floor. Our bedroom furniture is 100% Sumter solid oak and very heavy. There were 2 washers and 2 dryers since we had a pair both in Tucson and Wichita. There were a lot of large woodworking tools--radial arm saw, planer, table saw, scroll saw, drill press, wood lathe, plus workbenches and mechanic's tools. I couldn't believe how smoothly everything went. We have moved quite a few times including some self moves with U-Haul and it would have taken 3 U-Hauls to get everything here, plus hotels, food, gas, airline tickets to Tucson, plus time off work. I also tried to get a quote from Mayflower, but they wouldn't quote me a price without seeing everything and I didn't want to fly to Tucson and then to Wichita ahead of the move just so they could see all of our belongings, No, this was so much better read more

We couldn't have asked for a better moving experience. We used them to move a 3 bedroom house full of stuff from Livermore, Ca to Frisco Tx. They showed up on time, efficiently loaded the truck, delivered well within the stated time frame at the quoted cost. The driver hired experienced friendly loaders at both ends. Nothing was scratched, cracked, crushed or broken and that's saying a LOT as we packed 95% of the boxes ourselves. If you are reading this, then you are probably looking for an honest and efficient moving company. This is it. I did a most thorough search and for hours I spent on line, I came up with about four moving companies that looked good. Only one company came out on top each time. So I went with them. Then I found a site called movingscam.com and the only company that came out on top of being honest was Moovers Inc. I was originally referred from DeLancey street and I am so glad they did. These guys were amazing. The office staff, the man who I was in contact with the whole time and the movers themselves were friendly and all the while they kept moving. Nothing of mine was broken and they even assembled a few pieces of furniture . It was amazing how fast they were. I recommend them for ANY move.
