BAD, always loud and very close seating arrangement. I like their hot chocolate but the wait to get in is usually 20 mins and they always take a long time to give me bad coffee. The sandwiches are pretty bland and the spinach omelette I get is so bad. read more

Morning Thunder is the place to eat really big breakfasts after a night of partying. The waits are extremely long on the weekends for brunch. Honestly, I don't think this place offers anything special or unusual, just big pancakes, home fries, etc. But its big with the Chico State crowd, and there aren't really a ton of casual brunch places, and its a good location. Okay I am a sucker for their Bisquits and Gravy. I stop on occasion, often getting an order to go. It is big (not as huge as it used to be) comes with potatoes, includes half of a sausage patty as well as sausage in the gravy. A definate meal in and of itself. The place often is packed for breakfast so try to avoid the busiest times. But if there is a crowd it is worth waiting a bit. read more

Normally I am not nit picky and I never demand things from anyone but this was weird. I sat at the counter since I was by myself. The waitress came over and gave me ice water and asked if I wanted anything else, I said no ice water is great this time of year. Welp little did I know that was the last time any of the staff would interact with me for a good 20 mins or so. Finally my order to as taken and off to being ignored again until my food came. The BLT was good but the fries were hard and half of them were burnt. All in all I spent an hour there for a BLT and burnt fries. Morning Thunder is really hit or miss regarding both food and service... My most recent visit last week, the server was very uninterested and "annoyed" it seemed, with no smile or anything. The food was "okay", but the potatoes were burnt instead of crispy, and my burrito was soggy. Ew. But I have been about half a dozen times before and on most accounts had some very yummy food (the california bagel is my fave so far) and more enjoyable service. So try your luck, but I find somewhere like Sin Of Cortez more worth my money. read more

Morning Thunder has always been great! Today was, of course, super busy. We expected to wait about 20 mins for a table but they got us in after 5 minutes. My fiancé ordered the biscuits and gravy and a side of one pancake. He wasn't a fan of the biscuits. Then he cut into the sausage and found pink in the middle. He sent the plate back and both the server and the manager approached our table. They tried assuring us that the sausage was fully cooked, it just happened to be that color where they got the sausage locally (I forget what was supposed to make it pink, but they were very apologetic). He chose not to take another plate, and just ate his pancake. They did not charge us for the biscuits and gravy or the pancake! Thanks Morning Thunder. Everything else tasted great! read more

When it comes to price and amount of food i'd say they do pretty good. I tend to keep to my California omelette and coffee. The avocado there is always fresh and perfect. I don't know how they do this all year long, but they do. I typically can never finish the meal, and take the rest home for when i start to feel hungry again. TIP: If you mix the sour cream and the salsa together the omelettes are even more amazing. read more

The restaurant itself is pretty small and the dining area is cramped. This is usually the busiest breakfast spot in Chico. On most weekends there is usually a small wait, but well worth it. The waitresses are kind and friendly though sometimes take a while to come back to your table since they are so busy. This does not take away from the fact that the food is good and the portion sizes are big. I recommend the biscuits and gravy. If you're looking for a breakfast restaurant and want to try something local then this is the place you need to go. A Chico tradition. read more

My boyfriend and I went here for the first time after hearing some good recommendations from friends. We typically stick to our usual breakfast place but decided we'd try something new. I'm so happy we did! We could tell right away that it had to be good by how many people were already there. We were immediately seated, water was brought to the table and coffee was not far behind. The food came out surprisingly fast too! I was actually shocked at how fast considering how packed it was. The portions are big and the prices are great for the amount of food you get. I Usually just eat breakfast here, but heard they had good burgers too. Called in a Patty Melt (and added thousand island to it) an hour early to be ready at 11:30 and arrived and it was hot and ready. As a self proclaimed Patty Melt connoisseur, and having had them every burger joint and diner in town, I was blown away by how good theirs was. Literally he best I've had in Chico. Fries were great too and the staff was friendly. I'll never get one anywhere else in town from here in out... Just beware the cracked out homeless folks who frequent the parking lot behind them.
