She had to go to this place(hangry)so I was driving fast on my way back from Reno. It was pouring down rain we made it just in time before closing which I hate doing because I feel bad for the workers they are trying to close up and leave. Three stars because the second we walk in there is a super rude lady who didn't acknowledge me or help in any way. We had never been there before and it says please wait to be seated. So we stood there for 5 minutes not knowing we had to sign in and the lady didn't acknowledge us or let us know what we had to do. On top of that she just looks miserable. We finally sat down and we all got water with like one ice cube. Call me picky but I except good customer service and water with ice at least. The food was good I would recommend the TC and wouldn't recommend the chicken fried steak, the meat was very weird and seemed old. I would go again but not expect much with the customer service because obviously these employees are miserable at their job. I showed up for breakfast at around 9 am and there was a line at the door. Even being 4th on the waiting list I was seated almost immediately. The staff here works quick and remained extremely friendly the entire time. I got the special, the Thunder burrito, which was huge! It was a delicious meal and great atmosphere. Our server Crystal went above and beyond. Checking up on us regularly, and even offering us coffees to go for no extra charge. Definitely stop by if you are in Chico! read more

I get the most complicated omelette and they've always made it with ease. Bacon,avo,cheese omelette. All the cheeses but bleu. House potatoes loaded and the muffins to go for Dad. My dad was in from out of town and we decided to go here as it's somewhat of an institution here in Chico. Despite living here for six years, I'd never been myself. We went in a Monday around 11 and were seated outside without having to wait. They had a good variety of breakfast, lunch and gluten free options. I notice it has been 14 months since you had a compliment on your French roast coffee. Have you changed to another brand?? I tried it yesterday and it was not good, I asked to have the waiter remove it from my bill. I tried the buttermilk waffle which was soggy not crispy. The fresh strawberries were green not ripe. I was thinking I would rather have frozen berries that were ripe at the time of processing. My other half does like the steamed spinach option for breakfast and the gluten free toast which is not offered everywhere. I thought this place was great! Great service! All the waitresses are polite and smile! They like to joke around and will chat with you, too! The food is awesome and you get a great amount. Pricing isn't too cheap, but it's also not too expensive either. On a scale from 1 to 10 in pricey-ness (1 being cheap, 10 being outrageous), I'd give it an honest 5. Try this place out. I'm from out of town and someone highly recommended this place for breakfast, someone whose opinion I trust greatly. Of course, this friend has not been in the Chico area for about 7 years, so.. I have a feeling this place has passed it's prime. The good: Biscuits were great. As was the sourdough french toast with poppy seeds. I also enjoyed the big 'ol omelettes, and I think the pricing was fair for the portion size. The bad: Uh.. NO AIR CONDITIONING. It was hot as heck in there. It was actually cooler outside. Like 85 degrees outside, 100 degrees inside. That really sucked. The service was really bad. I am a very laid back easy to please patron and when I asked for a bottle of ketchup they rolled their eyes at me as if I were asking for the moon and stars above. Very snotty, bitchy wait staff. I noticed that the female waiters were nicer to the men in our group than they were to the women.. hmm.. It was very strange. If only they had known that I was the one paying and tipping, perhaps that would have lightened their mood. I was really excited to try this place and had heard a lot of good things about it. I ordered a potato dish that had steamed veggies on top vegan with no cheese or sour cream. It was really good and I wanted to put some salsa on it, so I got a side of salsa and poured it all over my food. Bad idea, the salsa was rotten! If you've ever left pico de gallo in the fridge for too long, you know what I mean, it stings your mouth and tastes like it's starting to ferment. So I told them, I told the waiter to try it and he did and agreed with me. Then they remade my meal and out cheese and sour cream on it... So I just returned it and left, an hour later and still hungry. To me, serving a customer rotten food is just about the worst thing a restaurant could ever do. I love Morning Thunder. They are simple,( open for breakfast and lunch), but there is usually a wait on the weekends. The biscuits and gravy were... The plate was.. more like a platter. And the coffee is excelleut the bacon is thick and crispy, the egg is hot and even the cheese is all melty. And it is awesome. While I don't much like their cottage potatoes, I sub the potatoes for their fries. Oh? The fries you ask? They are the old school crinkle cut fries!! Oh yeah!!! I've found the food quality to be inconsistent as well; once the Jurevos rancheros were delicious, and twice they've been watery and disappointing. They have regular coffee or a french roast coffee, the french roast was rich and delicious and comes in a special black mug, my favorite color! This place must be for me! I got the California omelet: fluffy, tasty eggs (not overcooked! I can't stand when eggs get brown) filled with cream cheese, tons of avocados and sprouts, topped with pico de gallo salsa and sour cream, served with hash browns. My goodness this was crazy good! Such a unique combo of things I haven't seen anywhere or have ever thought of on my own, like sprouts and eggs? Great together and texturally satisfying! The portion was huge too! It was so good I wanted to eat it all but there's no way I could've finished the plate in one sitting. The place felt really comfortable, I can't wait to come back! read more
