We just tried Morrow's, and LOVED it! Even on a Monday evening, the restaurant was filled and we took that as a good sign. The food was delicious (more on that in a moment) but before we went, we checked YELP for reviews. Though we were leery after reading several negative reviews on the service and wait time, we decided to give it a try. Morrow's has been open for less than 2 months, but has clearly hit its stride. We waited 5 minutes to be seated and our server, Kasii, was at the table shortly after that. She was attentive, friendly, and efficient throughout our meal, which arrived in a reasonable amount of time, and made sure we had everything we needed. NO problems with service or wait time. And now about the food.... over the years, we have sampled red beans and rice, and fried chicken at many area restaurants. We have a list of our favorites --- and that list now includes Morrow's. The red beans were creamy and subtly spiced, and the fried chicken was tender and juicy with a perfectly crisp skin. We highly recommend Morrow's for good food that won't break the bank and excellent service. read more

I was in town from Atlanta for the Jazz Festival, and my friends and I wanted to see what all the social media hype surrounding Morrows was about, and to my pleasant surprise this place was simply amazing. Great atmosphere, amazing location, great prices, awesome food, perfect for portion, and amazing service! The staff is simply incredible. Being that the resturant is still very new, I am sure that the minor little kinks will be worked out, nonetheless this will be a STAPLE for me everytime that I visit NOLA from this moment on!! The food was delicious, well seasoned & had the proper temperature, the drinks were delicious and the customer service was GREAT!! I am a local and yes I will return!! Our waiter was Fernando (I hope that's correct) and he was very attentive and polite. Now let's get into what really happened as I experienced my first visit. Well it was ESSENCE FEST weekend, so yes the line/wait was super long. The movie Girls Trip really pumped up the weekend, so yes lines/wait times should be expected as well as the fact that this is a very new restaurant so there will be errors made, staff gets tired they are human, so what if you didn't get a pearling white smile every time they passed or came to your table or forgot to acknowledge your compliment, it was extremely busy & perhaps they forgot due to the millions of things they were trying to remember (not sit to babysit you with convo). As far as folks being upset that "celebrities" were being walked right in, um again duh, where have you not known that to happen, it may not seem fair but it's life get over it!! Most of you complaining about the celebs will probably never return to our city and Morrow's won't miss your dollars anyway but the celebs who are consistently here spending they will return to support them and so will we locals. Essence pulled in over 500,000 people this year what restaurant did you expect to walk right into and not have a few mistakes due to the extreme business? Give the place some slack. If your not a celebrity or local social light please do not go you will be waiting to be seated or not seated at all. I called to see if they do reservations I was told they don't take reservations but you can come put your name on the list.When we arrived it was a party of 10 I was told it will be a 3hr wait we sat for a little while but decided to leave after 30 minutes.While leaving to go somewhere else I looked on social media to see a table full of local social lights sitting down with menus that was not there when we went to check in.I called and spoke to a manager about it (his sister) and I was told he's the owner and can make reservations for whomever he want to make them for he's the owner. I was very upset letting her know we visited this place a lot before the hype began and to be treated this way is not cool and remember to treat all your guest as of they were important she could care less and hung up. This is one of the hottest up and coming restaurants in Bywater New Orleans. Not only does it have a great ambiance, the service is beyond extraordinary. I believe that it will definitely give the restaurants that have been in the city for a century major competition with the newest generation of diners. Not to mention the owner, Larry Morrow, makes himself available to each patron which adds to the amazing experience. I enjoyed the lettuce wraps as an appetizer, red fish as an entre and finishing with the most delectable bread pudding a la mode. My Morrows experience...So I've been following this restaurant for a few months and was anticipating coming..called ahead and they said an hour and a half wait...ok cool..expected that..Uber there and they say "We are no longer seating but you can get a to go order..oh but you can't come in..have to wait outside for your order" claimed they were filled to capacity and there were celebrities inside. BABYYYYYYYYY!!!!! When I tell you I was hot!!!! So after waiting for our to go order for 20 minutes, they come out and say "We can now seat people" Wenr inside and the damn place was empty!!! Get seated...food still in to go containers and the shit was cold!!! They tried pacify us with free drinks!!! Ordered a half dozen oysters which were nasty. Waiter asked if we wanted him to reheat oysters that have been sitting for over 20 mintues. Brought the check which was for the wrong amount and had the audacity to say "Well I gave y'all free drinks" Oh forgot how the manager sat his funky ass in his Range Rover and just watched the melee...totally digusted with this whole ordeal!!! read more

They really need to step up their game if they want to stay in business in such a competitive city. Service was absolutely TERRIBLE!. Went here for brunch on sunday. Menu is overpriced and entrees don't even come with sides, you have to pay extras for potatoes. I ordered a crab Benedict and it was a very thick cake (that could have easily been split into two) topped with the tiniest poached egg and they weren't kidding when they said "drizzle" of hollandaise. My friend ordered the sweet potatoes pancakes and they arrived 20 mins after my order came ( i had already finished my plate), with no silverware,no syrup or butter, but more importantly, his pancakes were RAW. Our glasses of water and coffees never got refilled and when we asked the waitress to take back the inedible pancakes and get us the check she came back after a looong time and acted like she did us a favor by taking the pancakes off the check. Suffice to say, we will not be returning. It's a shame because the space is really nice. read more

I don't even know where to start but to say the least this place was beyond disappointing. Me and my friends came here on a Sunday morning for brunch. They opened at 10:30am and we checked in at 11am and were told the wait would be around 2 hours, ok fine. It ended up being a 3 hour wait when we were finally seated at 2pm. We ordered our food immediately and did not receive it until 3 HOURS LATER. I'm not joking. Then when we finally received the food it was brought out in pieces instead of all at once and it was cold. We ended up missing the events we had previously scheduled and paid for that day because we didn't end up leaving until almost 6pm. Literally a whole day wasted. Then when asked to speak to the manager he ducked and dodged us for another 30 minutes. This was such a terrible experience. I really wanted to love and support this place but it ended up being the worst place of the weekend. Sad to say I'll never be back. read more

The food was actually pretty good. Had the Alfedo with shrimp, which was very tasty! My mother had the fried catfish which she said was good. The mac and cheese is probably the better of the mac and cheese served in New Orleans! Like real baked.. Not that spaghetti velveeta stuf most of the restaurants serve. The drinks were legit tasty! Had the bywater. But I must admit.. Service just isnt there yet. I finished my whole plate of alfredo before my mother was served her catfish.. Meaning she was served about 25-30 minutes after I was served.. Not a good look. And then it took forever for our server to come back to us to give us the bill. Could be because of the large party they had wanting to split up their checks.. Which there should be something put in order that after a party of 5.. No split checks.. The owner should look at policies and retraining staff on service.. Also sauteed crabs were good. Just wish the claws werent so tiny. read more

I researched Morrows for my cousins birthday dinner and loved the reviews so I decided to bring her with a group, it was 7 of us. When we got there, there was a hour and a half wait so we waited. Once we got called back we were seated in a wooden booth type seating. Good atmosphere. They gave us all glasses of water. Our waiter (Fernando, Fernandez) came over he was very distracted while taking our orders his attention was easily taken away by other tables, we could tell he wasn't actively listening, just made us feel unimportant as guests. While we waited for our food they came out a couple times with a birthday celebratory cake for a few patrons and when they did (Fernando, Fernandez) would come to our booth and loudly sing Happy Birthday and Beat on our wooden booth which made us all very uncomfortable because it reverberated through or backs and it was annoying. He did this about 4 times. (I think the birthday song is great but the beating on the seats that guests are sitting in should be stopped) So finally our food came everything looked great, everything was delicious I ordered the Cajun Crawfish pasta with catfish on top it looked so good and tasted great as well, but I am a person who loves salt. So I went to grab our salt shaker and when I turned it up to put salt on my food nothing came out. I opened the top and turned it up and clumps of salt fell out, it was all clumped up and not coming out. I put the top back on and waited for our waiter to come back. There was a glass salt shaker on my table (which is what I was using) a pepper shaker, and a bigger black shaker that looked like a chess piece. (which apparently was a salt shaker also, but I'll get to that) so when our waiter came back I asked him for another shaker he asked why and I told him nothing was coming out of the one we had that I had opened it and it was all clumped together. He proceeds to grab the shaker and turns it up to shake in his hand it is apparent that hardly nothing comes out but he is trying to show me the little pieces that fall in his hand. I tell him that there is nothing and can I just have another salt shaker he still proceeds to show me the shaker he has. He then says well the black one is a salt shaker too. I say I didn't know and proceed to use that one and again the salt barely comes out. He turns around to walk away and I say wow all he had to do was get another salt shaker it wasn't anything to argue about. He heard me and turned around and asked me "did you just say I could have just gotten you another salt shaker?" and I replied, "yes I did, me asking you for another shaker is not something to debate." He then tells me that he is trying to educate me on his job. Which I then replied that was unnecessary and to replace a salt shaker should not have been an issue. He kept trying to debate with me about it and I told him I was done speaking with him and I would like to talk to his manager. The manager finally comes and apparently she was annoyed, I began to tell her what happened and she started to display an attitude, once I was done telling her what happened she responded with he already told me what happened, and that was it. I didn't know what to say, it was apparent by her attitude that he was her friend and she really didn't care about what I had to say. She made me feel as though I was a bug and that she didn't really care about how her waiters treated the guests. By that time I had lost my appetite and could not longer eat because I was so upset about my interaction with the waiter and the manager. I don't know how they pick their managers but it seems as though they pick them by who comes to work and not by how they treat the customers. We had ordered the celebratory birthday cake for my cousin before all of this transpired. When he came with the cake it was not with the same enthusiasm that he had with the previous 4 so my cousin said that she didn't want it from him because of his nastiness. Once it was time to pay he came to our table and said very rudely, "We can only do 4 checks, how ya'll want them?" the guests I was with told him, by that time I was too through with the people that work in this restaurant and did not say anything. I hadn't finished my dinner and I was just upset. The check came and it was $63 including gratuity of $9.50 I am usually a great tipper, when I receive great service or even mediocre service, but Fernando/Fernandez was horrible so I told him that I would not be paying gratuity because he did not deserve it. He then told me I could not do that so I told him to get his manager, he went to get her and she came with her attitude and eye rolls back to our table and I told her that I would not be paying gratuity because the service and attitudes were unacceptable she took my payment and said "fine, God bless" while walking away. $22 meal down the drain, Good food does not Trump good service, it all goes hand in hand. my friends and I (party of 8) came across this establishment while looking for places to dine during out stay this past weekend. we dined at the bar because there was a 45 minute wait for seating, gratefully, they was enough seating at the bar. We ordered drinks, appetizers, and entrees with no problem. Our server/bartender Cory was super helpful, pleasant and welcoming. he made some suggestions and so forth and they were great. Everyone in our party ordered one after another. when everyone was just about done eating a friend had still not received his entree. we asked for a manager twice. By the third time, ironically his food had arrived and the manager was right behind. we did express our disdain in wait time, but moved forward. After having a bite of his food, we come to find how salty and ill-prepared it was. another friend had the exact same thing and tastes NOTHING like theirs; very salty, couldn't enjoy it. it was the red fish. again we asked for a manager. the same young lady came and was not apologetic, understanding, willing to taste the food for herself so she could understand the issue, nor did she offer to have the dish made again for my friend. very dismissive, and we were offended and surprised. i gave this a 2 star because of the service over all. the food is great. Stuffed mushrooms, fried oyster, shrimp pasta, red fish (the well prepared one), fried chicken, and mash (yes i had a lil bit of everyone food lol) but the poor customer service handed down by the manager was piss poor and unkind. i do not wish to support that again. read more

Fine, that was our choice as paying customers. When we were eventually seated and after we placed our order, we waited close to 30-40 for our order to come out. We told our waiter and even suggested that he comp our drinks. He was like no because then the manager would ask questions. Then we told him to get the manager. She (the manager) eventually came out, we told her the issue and she would not hear us out. Would not offer us a discount or anything but tried to make excuses on why it was our fault and not the waiters. It all came to a close when the table behind us had the same complaint about how their food was coming out in a crazy order. This review is way overdue. I came out to New Orleans from Los Angeles last month. I stayed on Canal St. a block from Bourbon St. I really really wanted to try out the great food I heard so much about. Unfortunately, a couple of days into my trip I realized that the food in the French Quarters was not that good. All the food looked and tasted as if they were made by a franchised restaurant as opposed to home-cooking style. I tried all the "tripadvisor" places and they were ok. They were full of tourists and long waits in lines for ok food. I was however, lucky enough to get local advise while riding in a Lyft ride. Which brings me to Morrows. This place is recently opened. I was blown away by the food. The fried seafood, chicken and sides were amazing. They were bready, crunchy, meaty and not oily at all. I was amazed by the perfect texture, season, and presentation of the food. We also met Loretta, the owner/chef. She came out, was very friendly and comped us some grilled oysters. I'm glad she did because those were the best grilled oysters I had in the week I was out there. No where else compared. I strongly recommend this place to anyone looking to avoid the tourist hype and actually enjoy down home New Orleans cooking whether your visiting or live there. First the good. The food is amazing. There were 4 of us for dinner. We had the Oysters Morrow appetizer, chargrilled Oysters covered with crab meet. You get a dozen, so it was the perfect size to share. For our main course 3 of us got a fried seafood dish and we were all very pleased.The Oysters were perfectly crispy on the outside and not over cooked inside. The shrimp and catfish were also crispy yet light, and very tasty. Not over salted. My husband got the Korean BBQ and said it was very good. The atmosphere is very lively (if you're looking for a quiet place this is not it). Our waiter was also really good. On the downside, as we waited for our table we stood at the bar. There was only one bartender and he was non-stop busy. By the time he got to us, about 10 minutes later, our table was ready. For the size of the crowd they should have had 3 bartenders. We would have had a drink at the bar, then be ready for our second at the table. Instead we had to wait longer to get drinks at the table, and not because of the waiter. Omg let me tell you about yesterday. I can finally post after i took some meds and got some sleep. I was asked a few weeks ago where you want to go for your bday so i said morrow. It was now the worst decision i ever made. If you know me well you know i dont play behind my food, I will flip out. We showed up at the restaurant I was all excited bc i finally go somewhere i wanted to go. The lady at the desk said im sorry but we don't allow outside cakes in the restaurant and we dont put them in the fridge. Ok so we put the cake back in the car. Then told us we had a hour to a hour and 30 min wait. I waited bc i really wanted to try it. It ended up being a 2 hour + wait. So we get seated the waiter comes right away bc he said he seen how long we been waiting. We ordered food and drinks. Well the drinks came out but no food. After about 30 min i can feel myself getting ready to have melt down. The food finally comes out a hour later. Some of the food was cold, my brother never got his plate, totally forgot about him and yes you guessed it my order was wrong. The melt down happen. I cried in the middle of the restaurant. I sat there and the tears wouldn't stop. He brung me oysers, I DONT EAT OYSTERS. He looks at me and said that what you ordered. I looked at him and said open that black book and tell me what you wrote down. He wrote down catfish and onion ring. He typed in the wrong order. He said idk what happen. I looked at him in a way he didnt know weather to walk away or stay put. He took the plate back and brung out the right order. I still couldn't eat it bc i was done at this point. Then the bill comes out they billed me for the food. I literally screamed call your manager. The manager came over, told her what happen. She cleared my bill and said its your birthday what kind of dessert you want. I want a cheesecake and you can bring free desserts for everyone at the table. She said we can only do 3 but by the time it came everyone had FREE desserts. We had peach cobbler, brownies with ice cream, bread pudding, etc. Dont go to morrow if you have more than 2 people with you. They do parties of 8 to 10 people only. Oh and get this mr. Morrow himself sat next to us we address some of the issues with him. He came in with some guys he ordered his food, ate and left by the time our drinks came out it was unbelievable. read more

this was our 1st time ordering food from this restaurant and needless to say will NEVER eat from here again. I had the seafood platter that came with 1 piece of fish cut in half to make 2 pieces, 5 shrimp(why 5) and 1 dozen oysters. I substituted the fries for onion rings. I could not enjoy the food because it was so greasy it took 4 paper towels to squeeze the grease from my seafood, it had no crunch to it because of the grease, the onion rings had so much grease the coating was off of the majority of the onion rings which left just the onion. I am truly disappointed in this place, I try to support "black owned" businesses but when my food comes to me like this was it makes it hard to go back to the same place again. By the way we ordered through Doordash the food got to us in a timely manner it was still hot but so greasy I couldn't eat it because I didn't want an upset stomach. I visited Morrows Tuesday July 17th. We were a large group of 8, when we arrived they told us it would be about an hour wait, even though there were two large tables clean and available. We asked about the tables and they said they were already reserved. We sat at the bar and waited a little over an hour. We mentioned to an employee that we should have made reservations, and she was quick to let us know they did not accept reservations. We thought that was odd since we were staring at an empty "reserved" table for over an hour. Eventually someone told us it was "reserved for the owners friends". Apparently no one ever showed up so for after an hour of staring at the empty table they eventually sat us there. Our server was an older man (I'm unsure of his name) but he was extremely nice and attentive. We ordered the charbroiled oysters as an appetizer, although they were veryyy small, they tasted great. I ordered the grilled fish as my entree. It was extremely underwhelming, it didn't seem to be seasoned at all, and I had a pile of bones I had to pick out. I ate less than half, and didn't even attempt to bring the rest home. The Mac and cheese side was pretty good. Overall, I will not revisit this restaurant. The owners clearly care about hooking up their friends more than servicing new customers, and the food was not worth the price at all. read more
