Came here over the weekend (2/27/16) with my wife and felt compelled to share our experience. We've dined at this Morton's several times in the past, and feel that each time is a different experience. It can range from an A+ experience, all the way to an unfortunate D. When dining at a restaurant like Morton's, for the price - I would hope for B+ or above. This past visit it was a challenge to make a reservation - as both their on-line reservation system and phone were done for the entire day. We ended up calling another location to see if any insight could be provided, and the person who we spoke with at the Bethesda location did a great job of looking into the problem and returning our call. It was also promised that a confirmation of reservation would come from the manager at the Reston location via phone. The call never came, so we called an alternative number (managers cell phone) provided to us by the other location to confirm several hours later. Once we arrived, our order was taken for drinks. My wife had a glass of wine and I ordered a mixed drink (Bloody Mary). The Bloody Mary was not as described in the menu and was not spicy as requested. Our waiter was quick to take it back and bring another drink, but it's still a disappointment for the price. I ordered the bone-in filet (12 or 14 oz with bone). For over $60, I assumed it would be cooked to perfection and taste great. I ordered Medium-Rare, it came Medium to Medium-Well. It was still tender, but not even close to Medium Rare. As for taste, it's hard to pinpoint why it wasn't great. It was seasoned, but not perfectly. Taste - something was just missing. Tenderness - for a filet, I like it Medium-Rare for a reason. It just wasn't up to par or what I hoped for. I've had their filet before, and it's been a solid 10. I've had their rib-eye in the past as well, both bone-in and regular - and I still maintain that one time, it may have been the best I've ever had. But it's so hit or miss. Sometimes it's great, other times - not so much. Unfortunately, this was one of those times. If this was just a one-time disappointment, it could be chalked up to a bad night - but since it's about an every-other time, it's hard to not mention. Shame on me for not sending the filet back, but that would have required also sending back the sides and my wife's meal, so that everything would be warm and able to be enjoyed at the same time. For over $200, I expected a better experience and meal. It's hard to justify that level of cost when the product isn't what's expected. read more

First, let me just say that I am writing this on Valaentine's Day which was probably the first issue (that me...the dumb dumb went out on valentines day for a regular dinner....DUH how stupid?!). So let's get to business! I had some rewards for Landrys that were going to expire on 2/15, of course right on time for Valentines Day! Knowing it was Valentines day and restaurants were going to be a giant cluster, I called on the off chance that there may be availability at Mortons. Of course there wasn't BUT they did offer white table cloth dining in the bar available for reservations and the closest one was 6:30...PERFECT (too good to be true type perfect!) So I arrive at 6:33 and upon checking in I find there is no reservation in my name. OK....not so great. The woman informs me that they will do their best to accommodate us but it will be 30-40 minutes since its Valentines day (of course!). So clearly incensed because this is exactly what I was trying to avoid by calling ahead like an idiot, I wanted to figure out who I spoke to so I can figure out what happened. The woman at the hostess stand wasn't very helpful as I explained, I called at 5:17, gave my phone number they even pulled up my name in the system and he said I was all set, then I calmly suggested re-training may be in order for her staff. Well she clearly didn't like that and wasn't too interested in speaking to me. I asked for the manager, to which she replied that she was a manager (you can probably imagine the shock in my face since she clearly didn't listen to the "how to be helpful" portion of manager training). I then asked for the general manager since I didn't know what level of manager she was (if you asked me it was manager-in-training type of stuff), and said I would wait at the hostess stand for her to give me a name and number. Well she didn't appreciate that as she tried to rid herself of me multiple times.....I would like to NOTE here that I wasn't irate, screaming or yelling I was simply direct and to the point and her simply providing me the information I was looking for would have rid her of me. So like any normal person, I walk away to call McCormicks & Schmicks down the street to see if they have availability since I can use my rewards there and they may be able to salvage my dinner plans. So as I am on the phone, the "manager" walks up to my husband and informs him they are clearing off a table for us due to my behavior making it difficult for her staff to work. SERIOUSLY??? A direct and to the point customer, not yelling, screaming, carrying on and simply asking for the general managers information while standing at the hostess stand was making it difficult for your staff to work? I'm sorry but I would LOVE to see you handle truly pissed off people...may I suggest manager re-training here? Not wanting to dine where I clearly wasn't wanted, I explained the situation at Mortons and got a table reserved at McCormicks (thank you for salvaging my dinner plans) and we left. AS WE LEFT, she chased me out of the restaurant to say they were seating me, as if that would resolve the whole issue. I calmly informed her that she made her point about me being difficult and I appreciated her unprofessional behavior and we were eating at McCormicks. I love Morton's and go there often for birthdays, regular dinners, happy hour and to use my rewards but this manager was quite possibly one of the worst experiences I have had. IT was like the twilight zone, I was calm the whole time (no swearing, yelling, loud voices, big gestures) and my husband was actually impressed that I didn't lose my cool yet she found it necessary to be passive aggressive and rude (I wonder if I acted like a lunatic if she would have not been passive aggressive and seated me without insulting me?) Either way, I sent a letter to Morton's customers service and wonder if I will get a reply...until then the jury is still out if I will be going back (not that she would want me to!) read more

Worst. Service. Ever. Been coming here for over a decade and I have never seen such terrible service. 3 or 4 waitstaff on the patio and our glasses sat empty, we had to ask repeatedly for drinks, menus, etc. it was so bad it was almost comical. read more

For the prices this place charges, you'd expect special occasion treatment. We were celebrating our wedding anniversary and all they did was add a candle to the dessert we purchased. Service was incredibly slow, and in the booth next to us, some woman was so loud downing those $15 cocktails, that we could barely hold a conversation. We told the employees, but the response amounted to "Geez, that's too bad." So beware the poor acoustics here. Although the food was good (although Costco steaks are every bit as good), once you leave the restaurant after paying the whopping bill, it left you feeling thoroughly ripped off. Although two stars may be more appropriate since the food was generally agreeable, the indifference towards our complaints merits less. read more

My family took me out for my birthday, should have eaten before we left. Got seated at 8:15 my dinner entree was served at 9:36. When I asked our surly waiter why is it taking so long he replied," oh this isn't long for a Saturday night". After waiting 1 hour and 20 minutes I was no longer hunger because I had eaten my napkin, which was a good thing considering the food was cold. I never mind paying for good food but this was a stick-up without a gun. Next time I will head to Tysons and get a nice meal without the attitude. Even the chocolate souffle was cold. Yuk! read more

Well, I had my first actual restaurant experience in Herndon here at Morton's. Despite the big fancy reception at the entrance by the Maitre, I would say I did not feel so fancy when walking out of this place. For a cusinieer experience of spending $200 to $300, I would say Morton's is absolutely overrated. Maybe it is more superficial as a steakhouse than a real deal. The service was poor in such way that we had to repeat ourselves to the waiters times after times in order to pass a simple order: such as no ice in my water! It is funny that this restaurant only supplies a huge steak knife as its set of cutlery at the tables. One can not ask for a butter knife to serve his bread and butter. Not so funny when you are holding a steak knife in your hand and dipping into small cut of butter! The Morton's waiters do make a live presentation of the restaurant's steak and dessert/cake selections by holding a tray full of raw meat and cakes aged like wine in front of you. I am not sure what is so appetizing about this or it's just a conflict resolution measure to prevent wrong orders. I could not figure it out! Another thing is that you will not be getting anything on the side of your steak (vegetables or fries, potatoes, ,,,) if you do not make a separate order for those. The actual steak quality was OK but again for what you are charged and serviced for, makes the taste not so OK! So I would say your call! if you would like to go to this place and see it for yourself, please remember lower your expectations and don't fall for the restaurant at the reception. read more

"Meh. I've experienced better," is exactly how I would describe it. Especially for the prices! I got the chicago ribeye.. it was edible, but I wouldn't have paid what I did for it. Usually you can't go wrong with dessert, but I wasn't impressed with the carrot cake that the server suggested. It had a hint of lemon in it & I'm not a fan of citrus desserts, so I didn't care for it. As for the service, our server and the staff were very attentive and wonderful. Honestly, if you want a good steak in a "classy" environment, I suggest Ruth's Chris. If you just want a good steak for a reasonable price, go to The Cheesecake Factory and get the hibachi steak or steak diane. Sorry, Morton's.. I was expecting more. read more

I love steak and I love it here. I saw some comparisons to Ruth's Chris and I would choose Morton's first any day of the week. My boyfriend and I ate at Morton's in early January. Our main entrees were just okay. I ordered a 6 ounce filet that came with two scallops and shrimp. I requested my filet be cooked medium. My boyfriend ordered the 8 ounce filet cooked medium rare. When the entrees came out he immediately noticed that my 6 ounce filet was larger than his 8 ounce filet and said something. Our entrees were taken away and less than one minute later the entrees returned and looked fixed but what they did was switch the meat so I ended up with a medium rare piece and he had a medium cooked piece of meat. The scallops on my plate were also not extremely fresh tasting. Our waiter was such a nice guy and so friendly that we didn't want to make a fuss but when you spend a little under $300 on a complete meal you expect the food to be a notch above. The ambiance was excellent but our experience with the food was a little disappointing. Would return for a drink and appetizers in the bar but likely not for dinner again. read more

My boyfriend and I decided to try Morton's for the first time Friday night. The atmosphere was classy. Our server, Rock, was phenomenal. His personality was professional and friendly. We'll definitely be asking for him the next time we eat here. As for the food, every single thing we ordered was absolutely delicious! The honey-glazed salmon fillet was out of my comfort zone, but I would definitely recommend it. I can't wait to have dinner here for another date night! read more

We have been to Morton's several times but not within the last 5 years. I was so looking forward to it. Went with my husband and daughter. Shrimp Alexander was everything I remembered. Chicken Christopher was terrific as well. My husband had the generous portioned Lamp Chop which he liked, not loved. My daughter had the salmon which she loved. The big disappointment for me were the Lyonnaise Potatoes. I remembered them as being thin sliced, rich and sumptous. Instead, they were thick and not quite cooked through. Morton's in Reston Town Center is the place to go for fantastic steaks as well as for their Happy Hours. Even under the new ownership the quality and quantity has remained the same. I took my wife here for our 6 year anniversary on 7/17/16. I booked a reservation through the open table app. The service was excellent!!! They gave us personalized menus with our names and happy anniversary on them. We were seated by the greeter who slid the table out so that my wife and I could sit side by side in the U shaped booth. Then she returned and took a picture of us followed by our own Morton's photo card which she sat facing us on the table. The waiter was knowledgeable and kind and the ambience was nice. Now on to the food. The spinach bacon salad was absolutely scrumptious!!! The filet mignon was ok, not the most flavorful steak I've had by far and the bacon mac and cheese was dry with very little bacon. However, to our waiters credit once I made him aware he loaded me up with a side of bacon which was more than enough. My wife loved her mashed potatoes mixed with sour cream and butter. This says a lot because she doesn't eat sour cream lol, and her Oscar filet was decent. Overall they have great service, but the food is ok. When you're paying $170+ tip (and we don't drink), you'd expect better taste quality in the food. read more

Had a going away dinner for our boss, Rich Vlaun Wed evening at 6 PM. For the 4 of us, our tab came to approx $550. We received superb service by a young lady named Camila. The place is kind of noisy and boisterous which is actually kind of nice. If you go with your "significant other" get seated in one of the booths. I called the restaurant earlier and told them the occasion was his 'retirement' and the restaurant had prepared menus just for us already at the table with his name and "best wishes" at the top of the menu. That small gesture meant a lot to him (and the rest of us). read more

This was the third Morton's my wife and I have visited in the past three years. We go to a different location each year, for our anniversary, to see which will be our favorite. THE SEARCH IS OVER! We were overwhelmed at the level of service and quality of food at the Reston location. This was also the closest Morton's to our home. Although we've been very pleased every time we visit any Morton's restaurant, the Reston location was very impressive. Upon arrival, we were greeted with a "Happy Anniversary" by the hostess. When we looked at our menu it also had an anniversary greeting with our names printed on it. Our waitress, Camila, was terrific. We couldn't have asked for better service. Each and every person we came into contact with was very polite, friendly, and genuinely seemed to want to provide the best service possible. The food was also outstanding. Our steaks were cooked perfectly and had a great flavor. The crabcake had no filler at all, it was all crabmeat. The salads and side dishes were also perfect. Ending the meal with a delicious dessert, complete with candles to celebrate our anniversary, was icing on the cake. With the "Three Course Meal for Two special" the price was very affordable. My husband and I have celebrated our anniversary here for the past 3 years and each time we have never been disappointed. We went on a Friday evening around 6 pm with reservations. The dining room was already packed. We were greeted warmly by the hostess as she led us to a booth. Our menus were printed with our names and congratulations as well as a complimentary picture of us. For appetizer we ordered the Lump Crabmeat and tuna tartare. Both were fresh and fantastic. For dinner my husband ordered the double filet and I ordered the Shrimp Alexander. Again the steak was cooked to our liking and the food was good. Service was excellent as well. For dessert I had the chocolate lava cake and hubby had the creme brulee. Both were good. The only thing separating this from 5 stars is that I asked to have my leftovers packed with our side dishes and the server accidently threw them out. read more

We were 3 couples on New Year's Eve who had chosen this Morton's because of its location and reputation. We had eaten there before. We would have had just as good a meal, or even better, at Outback Steak House or Bone Fish. My friend's steak was overdone, my wife's salmon was burned, another friend's meal was served without the included sides on the plate, and the service was nothing special. We will not be returning. One of the worst dining experiences I've ever had. The service was horrible. The waiter was rude. One of my friends tried to send his plate back because he didn't like it and the waiter flat out said no. The waiter then sent the manager over and the manager also said no. I don't understand how a restaurant like Morton's could be so unprofessional. When I asked for the check, the waiter tried to tell me he had to clean off the table first. My wife and I visited this location for lunch today. We both ordered the Prime Rib French Dip sandwiches, $19 each. The service was very slow - 40 minutes from ordering to delivery at the table. Much to our surprise the meat was full of fat and gristle - gross. It tasted tough, almost warmed-over - disgusting. We wonder, what was the chef thinking when he prepared it? He must have seen the fat, the poor quality - why do they serve things like this, for $19??? We've been happy at other Morton's for dinner - we'll never return to this location for any meal. Worst night ever. #1. We were seated and bread was promptly delivered. It was 15 minutes before our water glasses were filled and 20 minutes before another waitress asked if we wanted drinks. I thought she was our waitress but she was not. #2. 30 more minutes until we are shown the food by our waitress and when I inquired about a cut of meat I thought was the bone-in fillet I was told to wait and let her explain the whole selection. I have planned my trip down to the last detail and I am happy to see the special cut I want and you tell me to wait so you can showboat a lobster? #3. Server gives us "a few minutes to decide" what we want. We wait so long and look around in desperation for our server that another table and server notices. Another server comes over to ask if we are ready to order, obviously we look irritated and we start to order and half way in our server swoops in and we have to start over. Our server explains she "didn't want to rush us". Ok, that's fine, but we don't need 15 minutes to decide between appetizers. #4. Before the server leaves to put our order in I ask for another coke and some more butter. Great bread by the way. It takes 2 minutes to get the butter and "oh, let me go get that coke" and another 5-10 minutes to get the coke. #5. It is a full hour and 15 minutes into our visit before our appetizer makes it out. 1 single crab cake. It was delicious. Food great, timing horrible. #6. The rest of the meal is timely and the service became MUCH more attentive but we are already down about the long drawn-out ordering process and lack of a proper welcoming and seating. Chick fil a will thank you for ordering, carry your food to your table, and tell you it was a pleasure to serve you. We can't even get a greeting from our server and drinks within 5 minutes? Another server has to see us squirming in our seats and come check on us? It goes back down hill quick enough. The check is delivered, I use my prepaid Morton's card and my debit card to pay. I am delivered the receipts and given full out instruction about how to leave a tip. The waitress explains that so many people don't fill out the correct copy (they assign a tip to the empty gift card) she proceeds to mark out the line to leave the tip on the gift card receipt and sets the receipt for the debit card out on top and shows me where to write her tip. When I asked why she did all this she said "they tell us to". I am truly sorry for all the missed tips but I don't need the wait staff showing me where to write down their tip. That was the straw that broke the camels back for me. Maybe it was our predisposition but I felt as though I was being treated like I was incompetent. And if what she said was true then the management has instructed the wait staff to treat all patrons as incompetent. read more

The customer service here has fallen so far it's ridiculous. it's a sad state of affairs when the highlight of the evening is the greeting from the parking valet. We arrived on a Saturday at 5 PM to grab a quick burger at the bar... sat down, ordered drinks and waited 30 minutes, finally having to ask the bartender for a menu. Mind you, there were exactly 3 people at the bar!!! ordered a salad and a burger... salad arrives in 5 minutes, waited 25 minutes for the burger... can you say ...service disconnect.... food was good but bar servers were clueless. Our dinner plates were cleared.. but no one asked about dessert, or more drinks or kiss my ass... we simply sat at the bar for 20 minutes until I could catch someone's attention to ask for a check. And when I voiced my concerns to the managing partner, Maura, she simply smiled and said she would address my concerns with staff. You drop $75 for drinks, salad and a burger it's not too much to ask for some simple service and courtesy from servers..this is a restaurant living on it's name and return business from new money Great Falls people who simply don't know what good service is... we won't be back anytime soon... Counter Burger or Jackson's is better service , better value and a much more reasonable price point read more

Very expensive, and definitely not worth it. My dinner companion loved his steak, but I failed to find something healthy on the menu. I decided to have the snow crab and cauliflower. The snow crab was as good as Joe's Crab Shack, but the portions were bigger. When I couldn't finish the whole dish, waiters kept bugging me about whether I liked it. Sure I liked it, just don't need that much food, and don't need the waiters to try to force me into it. The cauliflower was instead potatoes flavored lightly with cauliflower and heavily with a fatty cheese sauce, I couldn't eat it. I don't think there was a bottle of wine available for less than $100, and none on the list were good enough for that price. You would expect a list that expensive to have at least one fine french bordeaux! The one we got for $130 was equivalent to a $30 at most other restaurants. Desert, same story - heavy calories and little flavor. Restaurant was quiet, tables are nice, but very dark. read more

My friend and I had dinner at Morton's in the RTC on Saturday. Feeling a tad under dressed in shorts and sandals, I was relieved when I got there because unlike other Morton's, this place was not as upscale as others I have dined at. We had a 9pm reservation and was seated immediately. The dining room was nearly vacant at that hour. We started with the baked seafood platter. The menu description read as if it were a lot of food and for $25 per person- wrong! What a disappointment! It was 1 jumbo shrimp, 1 scallop, 1 oyster, 1 quarter size crab cake with too many sauces, per person! Very basic, uneventful seafood that I could probably get at any Red Lobster for a lot less. He had a beefsteak tomato with Blue cheese crumbles and a vinegrette which he said the tomatoes were not fresh, previously refrigerated and the dressing was just 'Ok'. I went with the Christopher's chicken which was perfect. It was two huge breaded chicken breast with a lemon butter sauce. He, unfortunately, chose a peppercorn rubbed strip as his entree--it was bathed in peppercorns and was inedible. The server later came back and said the steak was extremely hot as he tasted it. He was satisfied with his replacement and said that was 'better'. The Brussel sprouts were great. For dessert I insisted he get the cheesecake which we killed together. The food was not worth nearly $265 spent. Our server was pleasant, friendly, and shared A lot of his personal life with us. I wouldn't go back to this Morton's again. Very disappointing. read more

Overall good food and service. We had a party of nine celebrating six birthdays and had tons of food. Oysters, oysters rockefeller, salad, lobster bisque, filet mignon, NY strip, creamed corn, mashed potatoes, fries, hot chocolate cake, bread pudding, etc. Everything was great or pretty good except for the lobster bisque. It was the worst lobster bisque I've ever had in my life. The consistency was like water and after a couple of spoonfuls, I sent it back. Even the waiter commented on how the consistency was not thick at all. Surprisingly, when the bill arrived, they still charged us for the lobster bisque. I would have given this place four stars (minus 1 for the horrible soup), but when they didn't take the soup off the bill on a $1,000+ bill, I was highly disappointed. On an otherwise great night, the soup issue left a bad taste in my mouth. I won't seek this restaurant out, but I may go again if my friends or family want to eat there. Some may think I'm being harsh, but when you spend over $1k at a table and you're supposed to be a higher-end restaurant, I don't expect to pay for a bowl of water with a piece of lobster in it. I was surprised that they charged me, especially after the comment by the waiter, which pretty much validated that the soup was not up to par. read more

Had an opportunity to visit Morton's The Steakhouse in Reston on Tuesday 13 December. I have eaten at this location years ago, and fondly remember how well we were taken care of and the quality of the food. This experience was average at best. The atmosphere was very loud. We had 4 couples at a table and requested separate checks. The waiters (2) were talking loudly over our shoulder to explain the specials. When questions arose, they pointed that the other waiter was our waiter. I couldn't tell them apart as they didn't make eye contact. When two couples ordered a bottle of wine, one of the waiters tried in vain to encourage us to order a discounted $300 bottle. . . a bit our of our league. One couple got their bottle, the other had to ask two more times. We sat waiting an excessively long time to have salad plates removed. My husband and I both ordered the 8oz filet. It was very apparent that they were not the same size and not cooked to order. At $48.00/per they should be perfect. I will think long and hard before returning. Average at best. read more

We came here at the last minute for our 1st anniversary, after our original plans fell through. I was so happy that they were able to get us in without reservations on a Saturday evening. We arrived a bit early than we'd stated when I called ahead but were still seated right away, and they really made us feel special with a personalized menu for our anniversary, and the hostess snapped a picture us of and placed in a little paper frame. Cute! This was my first time to Morton's, and I was expecting more as far as the ambiance and decor--maybe more cozy and romantic? It was just one big dim room with garish blue carpet. Oh well, wasn't there for the carpet. The bread you get pre-meal is addicting! Husband ordered Oysters Rockefeller and Tomato Salad, and loved both. I ordered the Crabtini and Wedge Salad and my choices were delicious as well. Then for our steaks -- husband ordered the rib-eye, medium, and I the 6 oz filet, medium well. It seemed to take a while between each course--maybe that's the norm for places like this, I'm not sure. When our steaks came out, it seemed as if our orders were switched; his steak was medium well and mine was medium. That being said, my filet was super tender and had great flavor, but I ended up having to surrender the middle of it to my disappointed husband because super pink soft meat makes me squeamish! To their credit, we had 2 people ask how our steaks were, but we didn't think it was that big of a deal that we needed to send back, although for the price we were paying I guess we should have. We also ordered 2 sides - the asparagus and the au gratin potatoes. We were too stuffed to eat them, but we tasted each and they were yummy (we had them boxed up of course!) Unfortunately we were too full for dessert, and I was really looking forward to that. Oh well, maybe next time, even though it'll be a LOONG time before we come back - our bill ended up around $270 (tip included) for 2 beers, a cocktail, 2 apps, 2 salads, 2 steaks, and 2 sides. Ouch! But, we went in knowing that it'd be a lot, and it was a special occasion so we didn't mind splurging. Just keep that in mind. Also, our server was good but we asked if he'd box up our extra bread and he told us he'd just pack us a fresh loaf with the rest of our leftovers and when we dug into the bag the next day - no bread...so that made me sad =( I'd give this place a 3.5 if I could based on overall experience but the special touches we got for our anniversary kicked it up a notch.
