The restaurant has a great view of the ocean and Haystack Rock if you're looking north. The steamer clams were quite good! Not filling, but full of flavor. The clam chowder was tasty, my partner usually doesn't like clams but she made an exception because of the taste and texture, it was cooked perfectly. The fish (halibut) and chips were crispy, flaky, and well seasoned. The tartar sauce was not too creamy and looked housemade, good with my fries too. Big oysters with tasty sauce. Clam chowder, 4 stars. One of the better clam chowders I have had. Alaskan cod (blackened), 5 stars. Good portion, fresh cod and good flavor. Paired with cauliflower rice, perfect for keto diet. Avocado stuffed with shrimp salad, 4 stars, flavor is good, only thing is the avocado comes with skin, my husband didn't like to peel the skin. For how popular this place was, I was a bit disappointed. The food was pretty average, but I guess most people come here for the convenience and beautiful views of the beach - for that it is great! There is a bit of a wait here on the weekends, so making a reservation in advance would probably be helpful. I did really appreciate how they spaced out the tables adequately for COVID, I felt very safe dining indoors here. They also have a cute little gift shop with Cannon Beach souvenirs to browse while you are waiting for your table :) read more

We stopped in at Mo's on a roadtrip from out of town at 8 o'clock. We were hungry and it was one of the only places left open along our route so we decided to give it a try despite the subpar reviews. We were seated quickly and there were a lot of tables open, but there were still quite a few diners. Our server didn't come nearly as quickly but she was very nice and we were checked on frequently. It was a little cold but it was nighttime so it makes sense. We ordered the fettuccini Alfredo with crispy chicken, a large portion of the clam chowder, the shrimp cabbage salad, and the fish tacos with cod. The Alfredo was lukewarm and didn't have very much flavor. The crispy chicken was really just cut up chicken fingers. The cod in the fish tacos was very good but everything else was relatively bland. The clam chowder was huge despite getting a the large which had 2 sizes larger than it. It also was pretty bland and had more potatoes and bacon in it than clam, though it was very hot, so that is a plus. We got the shrimp cabbage salad with the shrimp on the side, I don't really know why this is on the menu, it was not good. We also got the garlic butter parm bread which was absolutely saturated in butter, definitely not something you get if you're on a diet. Overall the food was edible- but not much else. Though the staff were very nice and we got in and out. I probably wouldn't come back again if I were to pass back through the area, so if you arrive before everything closes I would recommend going somewhere else. read more

I just happened to be off this past Thursday and my Mother-In-Law was taking my kids to Cannon Beach. I couldn't help coming along. We spend the morning walking up and down the beach around Haystack Rock looking at the tide pools. The kids loved all the sea anemones and sea stars. After a couple hours we were all getting quite hungry and wouldn't you know it? Mo's was right there. This was an easy decision. We got seated pretty quickly on the outdoor patio. We forgot our masks and we had a dog in tow as well, so it worked. I got the fish and chips. To my surprise it came with a side of chowder. I had no problem with this. The chowder was super creamy and delicious. Just a couple grains of sand. The chunks of clam were a good texture and the potatoes were good too. I generously added some Tobasco to give it some spice. Sadly oyster crackers were not provided so I had to deal with saltines. The fish and chips didn't disappoint either. I splurged for the beer batted halibut. The fish was flaky and the breading was crispy and the fries were good too. There was 3 large pieces and combined with the malt vinegar and tarter sauce it combined for an epic meal. Mo's is MUST if you're in Cannon Beach, it's our family's favorite places. This year we placed our order online (covid times am I right?). The online ordering process was simple, easy and quick. Our food was ready in about 20 minutes and we walked over to pick our food up (stayed at a nearby hotel). I ordered the Combo Basket with Fries and a bowl of chowder. The combo came with shrimp, clams and fish. Mo's is always good because it's consistent, fried seafood goodness and fries are always a win, just add ketchup and tartar sauce. I stop at Mo's everytime I'm at the coast. This is my favorite place to eat. In the summer expect to stand in a long line to be seated. The fall and winter months are much quieter. They have trinkets, souvenirs, t shirts, hoodies, and small toys as you walk in. They have a good sized menu and you'll find something everyone can eat. The food always tastes fresh and you get a good bang for your buck. The service is always fast and the staff is always super friendly. We figured we would go and sit outside and have an early dinner, beat the rush and enjoy the view of Cannon Beach. We the view was Amazing, we beat the rush but the best thing about this spot was the view. The clam chowder was great but we waited and waited and wait and waited some more for our food. About 50 minuets and 4 glasses of water later the food came and it was cold. I sent a portion of mine back and 10 minuets later hot food appeared. NO GOOD YALL!!!! On the way out the cashier ask how everything was and right then Sara looked at me and she knew the Dander in me was sparked and I told them the truth. Hey, that's what us YELP'er's do. After I took 5 deep breaths the cashier got the manager, Andrew, came over to me and I told him the situation. Well he did the right thing and took 50% off the bill and gave us a $30.00 gift certificate to any of the Mo's restaurants. He did the right thing with the right attitude for the right reason. Good job. They are getting a 1 star for the food and waitress service but Andrew would get 4 stars for correcting the situation. We shall see if we ever will be going back. Our travels will cause us to see if we come across another Mo's. If not I'll mail the gift to a friend who lives in OR and he can try it! read more

The data point I would add in this review is that Mo's has really pivoted well to deal with the new normal. We signed up for an outside table with our dog, came back near the appointed time, everything was smooth and easy. Food was great as always. We had halibut fish and chips, clams and fries, did not get a picture of the chowder breadbowl meal. And our server was friendly and prompt with everything. My takeout experience was very disappointing, even with going in with tourist-town expectations. I picked up very promptly; the food was still quite hot when I got it. Fries and onion rings were meh, straight off the Sysco truck. Housemade "tarter" sauce was a misnomer; not tarter than anything anywhere. Tasted like 50/50 heavy duty mayonnaise and Crisco with dried parsley. Overly greasy and bland, just like the fried halibut. The batter was thin and soggy. The fish inside the batter was the highlight, as it tasted very fresh, but it's a shame what was done to it. A beachfront fish & chip shop should serve better fish & chips for $30. read more

I wish I could give a 0 star. DO NOT GO HERE!! I've been going to this Mo's as far back in my 30 years that I can remember. It always was a fun place to go when we were on the coast growing up, especially at this particular restaurant. I miss that place because that is NOT what we experienced tonight. When we took our family to Mo's tonight, expecting a wonderful and nostalgic experience, we were blatantly ignored for over 20 mins. The place was LOUD, and seating was horrible. We had to walk out because our 5yo was so hungry and no one would even come take our drink orders. When we told the hostess, she couldn't care less. DO NOT GO HERE. Absolutely awful. Please save your money. We ended up going to Tom's Fish and Chips less then 10 mins away and it was AWESOME! The cod fish and chips were off the hook (pun intended). I don't think we will ever be going back to a Mo's again because of this experience. read more

There is very limited seating because of covid, so we had a little bit of a wait. Luckily their food is all relatively quick to serve. The staff was fast and friendly. When going to Mo's I see no point in ordering anything other than chowder. Because of this, we ordered the large bowl and the cannon ball which is just a sourdough bread bowl full with clam chowder. The clam chowder at Mo's is what I consider to be the gold standard for clam chowder, and all others pale in comparison. It has remained one constant over all the years in an often chaotic and ever changing, scary world. The sourdough bread bowl is fresh and amazing. The menu seemed slightly more limited than it used to be. I'm guessing because of covid. We got the cabbage salad because they don't have the side salad anymore. We were told that is it hard for them to consistently get certain ingredients. The cabbage salad was still good and the dressing was delicious. Mo's is a staple on the Oregon coast. This one in particular has remodeled over the past few years, more seating, bigger entryway, bathrooms have moved. What hasn't changed is the chowder, still great. Maybe not the best, but is really good and keeps us coming back. I almost always get Blackened Salmon with garlic mashed potatoes and coleslaw. Extra tarter sauce. One of my favorite meals around. Good value too. Great fish and chips too. Also, when they have Marion berry cobbler it is worth doing or taking home. read more

Nice restaurant on the beach front. My wife and I were on the waiting list and we waited 20+ minutes before we can get seated. I've seen others come right after us, but they got seated first; 3+ families based on my observations. Once seated, a waiter came by her name is Heather. She greeted us and took our orders. She was also the one that brought us our drinks; water and Bloody Mary - no straw. They put spicy in the drink vs. on salt, which is fine. But, we did order a second one and got it right. About 20 minutes later someone else, besides Heater brought the food and the food was good! We enjoyed the clam chowder, steamer clams, and a burger. Neither our waiter nor anyone else came by to ask how we are doing. We needed some more ice water, and napkins but nobody bothered. No one close by to ask. The total waiting time, for eating, and waiting was about 1.5 hours. If you're looking for looking a quick bite probably order it to go. Oh, one thing, no WIFI for the customers. What a fun lunch. It was wonderful to sit on the patio with the ocean view. The greeter was very friendly and seated us right away. The server was handling the entire patio. She was efficient and friendly. The clam chowder was good, not the best I've had, but I would order it again. the homemade bread was tasty as well. Busboys who were cleaning the tables were not super helpful, but then maybe that's not their job. There was an error on the check, which was corrected immediately. The biggest negative was the barking, yapping dogs that were allowed on the patio. It was so loud we literally could not hear each other. When I ordered this, I wasn't sure how they were going to package it as I wanted to enjoy it down on the beach and it was perfect! The clam chowder was in a contained bowl and packaged inside the roll so that it doesn't move around too much. Nothing special regarding the clam chowder. There was a good portion of the seashell but not as much. There were a lot more potatoes than seashell but the mixture of oil and butter were a nice touch to the taste. The restaurant has a gift shop inside with a lot of cute souvenirs and Oregon + Cannon beach things. It is also right next to the beach and you can eat outside and have the fresh view or sit inside (will still have a view of the beach via nice big windows). read more

We arrived at the restaurant and started by looking at the gift shop in the foyer. THE TURTLES WERE TOO EXPENSIVE!!! Other than that, the arrival was swell. The busser was ok, we made a funny joke and she didn't hear us. The busser placed us at a window seat which was wonderful. We were able to see everything that we could dream of, haystack rock, the ocean, the beach, and people making sand castles. The waiter was very nice she was very polite and tried her best at making sure everyone was being seen. It was hard for her because the restaurant was understaffed. She even gave me two refills without asking and one of the times I didn't even start drinking the other. The only down side with is not the waiters fault but the Shirley temple didn't have a cherry. The food was ok but it came out quick. The one thing we got mad about is that they had no oyster crackers. Finally if you are in cannon beach you should give it a try.
