The service was great. Ambiance was awesome. Very old school. Loved it. The food was good too!

This famous place has lots of lore. It was a mob hangout for Carlos Marcello. Cormac McCarthy wrote about it in his last novel and Calvin Trillin raved in the New Yorker. I totally don't get it. There are a dozen other places in NOLA who make better Italian. It's very old school. Looks like a shack. Service good and sweet waitresses. Decor lacking. Crab salad had very little crab in it. Bread very good and plentiful. I had spaghetti and one meatball. It was just OK. The only pasta is Angel hair which doesn't hold up well with a heavy red gravy. Husband had chicken cacciatore which was OK but very salty. Friend had Italian sausage which had no anise in it and was very dry. Desserts are limited to "pineapple fluff" (passed!), tira misu and lemon bars. Cost about $50 each, no alcohol. Full bar. Free parking. Wear a sweater as it's freezing!! If you use credit card there's a 3% up charge.

This is a very generous three stars. I've wanted to try Mosca's for years. I'm a former Chicagoan and New Orleanian and half Italian. I cannot tell you what the hype is all about here. It was a boring meal, slow service, middle of nowhere, and cash only. Usually cash-only is an automatic one star unless they are very clear about it. The crab salad was pretty good. The "signature" baked oysters were a snooze fest. The service was slow. The menu was rather narrow, disclaming "we're not your typical Italian spot, we don't do chicken parm". First item on the menu? Spaghetti. From a guy who was a regular at Gene & Georgetti, I just don't get the attraction.

Cash only but been there many times! And still delish. Try to bring at least 4 people with you as all the dishes are served family style. My favorites are Mosca's Italian crab salad and Shrimp Mosca. Don't for get to try the Oysters Mosca too! Also love the Chicken a la Grande and tried my first ever chicken cacciatore. I'm afraid to try chicken cacciatore anywhere else because I'm sure I will be disappointed. I always love their Spaghetti and Bordelaise. The staff treats you like guests in their homes. This time I enjoyed their Decoy Sauvignon Blanc with my feast. Pro tip - do not eat anything the day of visit and wear dark stretchy clothes-you're welcome!

The perfect classic Italian restaurant. Great for large groups. Service is always good. We went with 10 people which is the perfect way to enjoy this family style restaurant. Everyone loves the oysters Mosca.. my favs are the shrimp Mosca and the Italian crab salad! So good! I wish we had leftovers! It is totally worth the drive to the middle of nowhere!

Great family restaurant. This is one of my son's favorite places. The portions are meant to be served family style, so come hungry and ready to share. The shrimp mosca is my favorite. The white wine sauce goes great with their bread. Also, it's nice to have an Italian restaurant with an Eat Fit menu!

A Perfect "Old-School Meets NOLA" Date Night…read more If you are looking for a true "date night" atmosphere where you aren't treated like just another table number, Vincent's Italian Cuisine is a gem. Having grown up eating in New York's Italian stalwarts and traveling through Italy, I'm often skeptical, but Vincent's manages to strike a beautiful balance. It captures that authentic, old school Sicilian vibe without ever feeling tacky, all while maintaining a distinct Southern charm and New Orleans flavor. The Ambiance & Service The ambiance was exactly what we were looking for!! It was intimate, welcoming, and intentional. A huge part of that experience was our waiter, Greg. He was incredibly hospitable and kind, making us feel genuinely cared for throughout the evening. The Food The food quality overall was excellent. We ordered: The Pork Chop: This was the absolute star of the night. I would order this again in a heartbeat. It was perfectly prepared and full of flavor. Crab and Shrimp Linguine: The seafood was fresh and the linguine is clearly homemade. Wine Selection: They have a lovely wine list that paired beautifully with the meal. A Note on Texture & Coffee My only critique for the kitchen would be the pasta texture. As someone who prefers a firm bite, the pasta here leans much softer. While homemade pasta is softer, the penne was a little too soft for my liking. We specifically requested our side of penne be prepared al dente, but it still arrived quite soft. If you are a die hard fan of firm pasta, just be aware of the house style. I did not mind it much once it did come because everything else was perfection. We finished the night with a slice of chocolate cake, which was delicious. However, the coffee was a bit of a letdown. It felt a little watered down and could definitely be stronger to match the richness of the dessert. Final Verdict Despite the softer pasta and the mild coffee, I will absolutely be returning to Vincent's. The hospitality and the quality of the main courses make it a standout. I'm already looking forward to trying more of the menu! The hostess was also a real gem and so warm. THANK YOU!

I struggled with putting a 5-star review on a pretty basic menu (no offense), but dang it,…read moreeverything we've eaten in our last 3 visits (in 2 months) has been 5-star fresh, tasty and plentiful. Give credit where credit is due. And the servers have really stepped it up. Very nice! Have not had to deal with huge crowds on any of our three visits, just a steady stream of in and out guests and to go orders. Drinks are always brought promptly, and only once has one gone dry. (They are $3.79 ea, so drink up!) One visit involved Pesto Bites and a Savory Cannoli w/a pasta salad side. The Pesto Bites were to die for, and don't believe the picture on the website - the cannoli was huge and looked more like a very big calzone, but it was packed with ingredients and flavor. The pasta salad was seasoned with just the right amount of Italian dressing. Another visit involved Mozzarella Sticks, Pesto Bites, wings and a Combo pizza. It also involved a large to go box. :) The wings were very good - not bready or slimy, which I often encounter when wings aren't the sole business of the establishment. Loved the crust on the pizza. The 3rd visit involved 3 people and Pizza Bites, Seafood Bites, Savory Cannoli w/pasta salad, Spaghetti & Meatballs w/2 extra meatballs and a 14" Hawaiian Pizza. There were some to go boxes and to go drinks with this meal too. I was pleasantly surprised with the Hawaiian pizza, not something I would ordinarily try, the Pizza Bites were amazing, and I don't eat shrimp but am told the Seafood Bites were very good. I wish I had taken pictures, but each time we were sitting down starving; that's never good for the photo business. :) Try it, you'll like it.

We went late on the final Sunday of Jazz Fest, so it was a bit quieter than expected, which made for a relaxed experience. The standout of the night was the raw oysters--big, classic Louisiana oysters at a very reasonable $2.33 each. We've come to prefer the flavor of smaller New England oysters, but at $3-$3.50 each, these were a great value. For entrées, we had three fish dishes and a veal piccata--the latter was the only miss. Overall, we had a very enjoyable evening. Total for four, including tip, came to about $310. Definitely worth a visit--this is a true New Orleans institution.

We did have a late 9:30 reservation, and while I understand we were dining close to closing, if a restaurant accepts the reservation, I still think the same standards should apply. There were definitely some highlights. The crab cake was phenomenal, my crab stuffed fish was delicious, and our server was incredibly kind and gracious throughout the evening. Unfortunately, there were just too many misses to overlook. The meatballs arrived in a chipped dish with a long hair in them. Several of the cocktails were disappointing, and while my fish was great, the vegetables were lukewarm and lacked flavor. The crab pasta was extremely bland and watery with very little noticeable crab meat. The most uncomfortable moment was the chicken Parmesan. Some of the cheese stuck to the server's napkin while he was placing the plate down. He pulled it off the napkin and put it back onto the entrée. My friend tried to eat some of it, but ultimately didn't feel comfortable and left most of it behind. We actually stopped mentioning issues because we felt terrible continuing to complain, especially since our server was so nice. To their credit, they removed the pasta and cocktails from our bill and brought us complimentary desserts. The bread pudding and ice cream were delightful and we genuinely appreciated the gesture. I love the historic, old school character of the restaurant, but there was also a noticeable sour smell throughout the space that took away from the charm. Perhaps we just caught them on a bad night, but for a restaurant with such a longstanding reputation, there were too many shortcomings to ignore. I appreciate the hospitality and their attempts to make things right. I just wish the overall experience had lived up to everything we had heard. I also want to mention that a manager never touched our table. I'm almost certain I saw him multiple times sitting while on his cell phone. As a hospitality professional, this shocked me. With so many glitches I expected an apology or check in for the lapse in service.

I had raved about that brunch to my partner and thought this would be a perfect way to kick off the 4th of July weekend. Unfortunately, the experience was the complete opposite, from the food to the drinks to the service. The bartender struggled to recreate a lavender cocktail I had loved at brunch. While I appreciated the effort, the drink wasn't close. He did make a good lemon drop, though, and I'll give credit for that. Our waitress mentioned she was new, and it was clear, she lacked attentiveness and didn't know the menu. When we asked questions about items, she seemed unsure and unprepared. We started with the wings and buffalo shrimp. The wings were overly salty, and the shrimp came out cold. Then came the main disappointment: the steak. I ordered the steak with potatoes. The steak arrived cold and flavorless, the chimichurri sauce tasted old, and the potatoes were bland. My partner ordered steak and fries, not knowing it would come mixed in with the cheese fries like some kind of small bites plate. The presentation was confusing, and the steak was overcooked and dry. Nothing like the juicy, high-quality steak advertised on their social media. We weren't the only ones disappointed. We overheard another group voicing the same frustration about the food. Honestly, I considered reaching out to the owner directly on social media because of how far off the experience was from what's promoted. Plus it's taken some time to get over that night. We spent over $150 that night. The food was poor, the drinks inconsistent, and the service subpar. "Disappointment" doesn't even begin to describe it.
