Sat inside to enjoy the ambiance and still be comfortable.  I ordered the Beet and Mandarin Salad, it had walnuts and blue cheese, oh sooo good. The vinaigrette dressing maintained the healthy theme. Shared some raw and baked oysters with friends, both sets were great, it seemed fitting to eat oysters next to the ocean. Delicious seafood in a charming historic building with a view! Get there early for a good view. The building was a former site to import alcohol during the prohibition era and there are rumors of haunting from an iconic Blue Lady. We went right at opening hours on Sunday and there was already a decent line outside. Pros: - Food is delicious! Cioppino had a nice wine flavor infused, garlic bread was crunchy, and the fish and chips are also great - there are both indoor and outdoor seating available, with heat lamps outside - wonderful service from staff - it's close to a trail that overlooks moss beach (with harbor seals!) No one and anyone can never get bored while dining here at Moss Beach Distillery. My experience for today was awesome and I was served by the wonderful Chris Lennon at the bar. Even on an overcast day, it is comfortable and enjoyable to snag a great tasting Caesar salad and the Blue Lady or the Lemon drop! As always, the customer service is always excellent! For example, once I'm at the bar, Chris has a Blue Lady prepping to be poured into a cold martini glass. I truly appreciate his excellent customer service when he is in service. The ambiance is where you can't find no other either you're dining inside or outside. Cool, historic restaurant tucked away in a small residential neighborhood off Hwy 1, and water front with beautiful ocean views. The veggie sandwich was delicious and the ciabatta bun it was served on was so soft and tasty, as well as the veggies and sauce. I enjoyed my Prohibition Mai Tai (the restaurant has a history of bootlegging and ghosts) and M enjoyed The Blue Lady (cocktail, not the ghost!) Service was pleasant and prompt and they were able to seat us at the window with a great view. Went there this last Saturday for a lunch date with my husband. It was our first time there and we were seated next to a window with spectacular view od the ocean. The cioppino with pesto garlic bread was amazing, the clam chowder tasty was so good with more clams than potatoes and fried calamari was crispy but tender when you bite into it. I cannot say enough good things about our server as she was the most attentive server I have ever had in a very long time. Im just sad I didnt get her name, otherwise, I would have given her an honorable mention. I have this theory that restaurants are only as good as they have to be in order to fill their seats. With a restaurant like this, the atmosphere and view are good enough that their food could be awful and still have a full house. But that's not this restaurant; it was the best meal I have had in a long time. Specifically, I had the best cioppino I have ever had, and I am a bit of a cioppono connoisseur. I have had cioppono in around 30-40 different restaurants. Their cioppono was stocked with wonderful freah seafood, and the base was so tasty I wanted a straw to capture every drop. If you have the option go there a half hour before sunset, get a patio seat, bring a blanket and snuggle up next to your date. It will be a night to remember. read more

My Favorite Local Spot Moss Beach Distillery is hands down my go-to hangout spot. The views are always incredible, the vibe is relaxed, and it just feels like home every time I'm there. I also love the interior. Huge shoutout to the bartenders, Chris and Joey -- they are the best. Always friendly, super attentive, and make great drinks every time! They remember people and make everyone feel welcome, which is a big reason I keep coming back. We also tried the fish special yesterday -- a panko-crusted petrale sole with wild rice and veggies -- and it was amazing. Seriously 5 stars. The portion was huge (easily enough for two people) and everything was cooked perfectly. Great deal for the price (I think it was $33). And over the years, I've met some really cool people there. This is a landmark at Moss Beach, but it's a bit dated. From the decor, to the lounge music, to the menu, it's a place your grandparents would love. But don't get me wrong, there's still plenty for everyone to enjoy. The view is spectacular. The patio is right by the beach, and there are plenty of heaters to keep you warm. The inside is surrounded by large glass windows so there's still a great view. We arrived around 1pm on a Saturday and it was still pretty busy from lunch. The patio was full, and we snagged the last table inside. The couple behind us had to sit at the bar. The menu is very basic Americana "shore food", like fish and chips, clam chowder, burgers, etc. The food and service was good. My only complaint is my water glass smelled strongly of detergent. What we had: + Caesar salad - basic but good. No anchovies, but lots of shaved Parmesan. + Dos fish tacos - you can choose grilled or fried, and of course, I go with the fried. Both tacos were a good size (larger than street tacos) and was quite good. + Triple sliders - 3 mini burgers. One had mushrooms, one had onions, and one had bacon. They were all pretty meaty and tasted good. Overall, a nice place to have a good meal and relax with a drink by the ocean. read more

I haven't been here in years; hasn't changed much other than there now appears to be tables outside & way back when you could just sit on the ground, order a drink & watch the sunset. For this visit we sat inside, cocktails all around, service was on point. I had ordered a mojito & oddly it came with very little to no mint? Maybe they were out? The best part is the mint. Everyone else's drinks from the lemon drop to the manhattan & wine were solid. Next was an appetizer of the fried artichoke hearts, okay. There was an order of the stuffed salmon, the pasta with shrimp & clams, pasta & steak, & crab cakes. The salmon was a tad over cooked; the pasta dishes were loaded; the salad under the crab cakes was meh 2 folks wanted the burger, but the kitchen fan, was it, was not working & we were told cooking the hamburgers tends to smoke out the restaurant; please let us know when such is fixed, hopefully sooner than later! Isn't the kitchen fan / hood a must have in a restaurant? Really awesome spot that is great for any party size. Service was amazing, and our table of 15 or so had such a time. For sharing, we ordered the fried pickles, oysters, and fried artichokes. All were legit amazing! For my main course, I ordered the two pork chops, and they were hands down the best I've had. The only downfall is that I have to travel a billion miles just to go back to get them. Super flavorful, great presentation, and juicy. Our group also ordered a plethora of desserts to try everything. Their old fashions were a bit odd, as they had muddled fruits and soda water? Great service, food and views that can't be beat! The cioppino had great flavor and came with plenty of mussels, clams, fish and shrimp. The bread was soft and great for sponging up the soup. The steamers were also good ... we got a side of fries with it. Lot of the clams and mussels with meat intact ... not cracked shells and missing meat like some places I've been to. Good quality. Wait times are crazy long which should be a good sign on a Saturday. If you are able to snag a window seat the view is nice. Unfortunately 12 dollars for a kids plate of Kraft brand mac and cheese with fries seems a little steep given that it's a boxed brand. The tuna in the sandwich I ordered was well seared but the layers of pickled ginger didn't allow me to taste the wasabi aioli or much of the tuna. This visit we had some hits, misses and maybes... Hits: crab cakes are a whole vibe. I love the freshness of the jicama and chimichurri that accompanied them. They did not skimp on the crab. The burger was epic, as big as my child's face - would be a good one to share! Maybes: Mushroom Ravioli - they went a bit heavy on the tomato cream sauce, it overwhelmed the ravioli. They should be wading, not swimming. Fish and chips- flavor was good, but the batter was squishy...also, they use a plate with a ditch and filled it with tartar sauce (not a fan), they should supply little dipping dishes for vinegar, etc Miss - did not love the cheesy garlic bread and crab. We have been here many times before and enjoyed the food and drinks. We went on the Fourth of July as we were excited about having lunch at the distillery, especially about the distillery burger. Unfortunately, the exhaust in the kitchen was not working properly, which was causing smoke inside the kitchen, so they couldn't make the burgers. So we decided to get the chicken sandwich and the seafood platter. We noticed they downsized the seafood platter as we had this plate before. Before, they would serve three pieces of fish and now only one, and light on calamari and prawns. The fries were soggy and cold. The chicken sandwich had no taste. For drinks, I had a vodka martini straight up, which was fine, and my partner had a Caipirinha which fell a bit short. The service was OK.
