Im extremely mad- i ordered 2 fish and chips dinners to go, ,substituted 1 dinners fries for Mashed potatoes with Brown gravy....& nothing else! Not even drinks. & my order was $26 (THATS NOT WHAT IM MAD AT)....what im mad at ,is when i went to pick up my order,I dont know why,but i assumed my order to be correct ....so i paid them and went on my merry little way home...when i get home & open up my food...they gAve me nasty dry potatoes that were not fresh! With NO GRAVY...my fish and chips were also NOT FRESH , coleslaw was not fresh!...everything was just NASTY! I could of got a more enjoyable edible meal from LONG JOHN SILVERS! & this was around 730 tonight....not a busy time for them to be having unappeasable food and be giving out incomplete orders -will not ever spend another dime there. read more

Mossman's. Otherwise known as the only reason I will ever step foot in a bowling alley. All jokes aside, Mossman's is connected to SouthWest bowling alley which is certainly an interesting place for a restaurant. I prefer this location to the one at Westchester Lanes simply because it doesn't feel like it's in the middle of the bowling alley and is in its own little room. If you've been recommended this place by someone chances are that they told you to get the fish and chips. While the fish and chips are really good I feel like the chicken strips are just as good if not better. You can even get a plate with the fish and the chicken! How convenient! This dish is served with fries, coleslaw, and a large dinner roll. For some it could seem like a monster of a meal but for others (I'm looking at you Mike) it's just another Saturday evening. Honestly I don't care what's on the rest of the menu, good as it might be. Once I find something I love I stick to it. Although I've heard the pancakes are great. The restaurant itself is pretty much what you'd expect from a place inside of a bowling alley. Nothing impressive but nothing that's going to make you double-take. The servers are very friendly! The food arrives quicker than average and they never let your cup go empty. I think there is a stigma attached to any restaurant that is connected to a bowling alley. I have no doubt if they had a standalone building with better decor it would be more popular. On a lighter note I highly recommend this place if you're in the mood for some fish and chips! read more

This place is better known at it's other location, however the food is just as good at Wible road! Both are coffee shops inside bowling alley's. Most people rave over the fish and chips at Mossmans, and while I have to agree that the fish here is stellar, I tend to order the Mega Melt (on sourdough instead of Rye). I love the Mega Melt because it is simple: Ground beef patty, grilled onions and cheese. No sauce, no veggies. Recently on a trip with my mother to this southwest location, she ordered the Minestrone soup which I had the pleasure of sampling. It was rich and the vegetables were full of flavor! I am not the biggest fish and chips fan. And, my family always wants to hit this spot up. I never understood the hype, until I went with the sis-in-law and ordered the egg salad sandwich (which isn't on their new updated menu but still available) and it was the best egg salad sandwich ever.....not loaded with a bunch of junk....fresh, tasty, and simple. Shortly after, I had a craving and dragged the hubby back with me. He had the chicken fried chicken. He said it beat 24th Street Cafe (what???? not possible you say? Well, I had to agree). Jamie was our server and she kept everyone's drink full and everyone entertained while she ran a one man show. My hubby and I both agreed that we need to put this on our list of go to's. The night's plan was fish and chips and then bowling. After passing through the bowling part and seeing many tatoo'd faces...we opted out of the bowling. I didn't want to be the victim of their third strike if you catch my drift. And yes, I do judge people that have tear drops tatoo'd on their faces. ANYWAYS.... 3 of us ordered fish and chips and one of us ordered Fish and Chicken Strips. The portions must have changed because we had enough food to feed at least 8 people. Note: Share!! The fish is still great but the chicken strips were my favorite (thank you little sister for sharing!) The were hand breaded and so yum. Every meal came with a giant roll, which was also very moist and homemade tasting. I also got a cup of clam chowder-Not good at all. It was runny and bland and I definitely don't recommend it. We had a whole container full of leftover fish-which when warmed up in the toaster oven maintained it's crunchy goodness and it made for nice leftovers the next day. The service was decent, it was later in the night (8ish) so there was only one girl working the floor but she did an alright job keeping up with all of her tables. Fish and Chips are not as good as Westchester Coffee Shop. I don't know why because I believe they are both owned by the same people. I'll still order the fish n chips each time I'm here before working it off by bowling next door. As for the rest of the menu, I have not tried anything else. I'd still recommend the fish n chips cause it is good. I would stop short of calling myself a fan though therefore just 3 stars from me. A couple of things that I do like is the location which is inside the bowling alley on Wible Road, and I like the fact that there is never a wait whenever we go there so service is quick! read more

That 5-star rating is solely for their FISH AND CHIPS. The batter is light, flavorful, and well worth stopping for whenever you're in Bakersfield. The restaurant's located in a clean, well-kept bowling alley; so if you're snotty about those kinds of things, then go get a pole and find a lake (to jump into!). The waitresses are friendly, and I haven't had anything else on their menu. However, I wanted some of their legendary fish'n'chips to remind me of when I used to eat it back when I went to Cal. This past Thursday several ladies and myself had a late morning meal there. There were no complaints about the service nor the food. I ordered a stack of 3 pancakes, which included a sausage patty, 2 eggs, and a slice of ham. I put two of the pancakes, half of the ham and sausage in a to go box. The order before taxes was $10.79 and my tall cup of tea was $3.19. I gave the waitress $20.00. I noticed that I was the only one in the group of about 8-9 ladies that she didn't return to give me my change. I'm usually a good tipper, so I overlooked that incident. So after we had all paid, I was one of the first ones to leave. One of the ladies called me to let me know I'd left my food. I asked her to have it set aside, I'd come back later to get it. About an half an hour later I went to get my food. Although my friend had them to write my name on the box and she was told that it would be stored under the front counter. She told me she'd told them I'll be back a little later. So, when I got there, all the waitresses were there behind the counter, looking at me as I walked up and asked for my food. The older one who had taken our orders informed me that she had tossed it out. So I just turned and left. So twice I was single out and dismissed by members of their establishment and I was the only Black member of the group. read more

Ate fish and chips here at 5:45 I am now vomiting. I should of known to not eat food when fish was not hot, coleslaw was warm but fries hot. My husband had fish and salad, his fish was not hot and his salad was warm. He has not got sick as of yet. We are transporters and we are always eating out . We stopped at the Super 8 night door for the night . We asked the desk clerk if there was anywhere in walking distance to eat , she said there was a coffee shop next door in the bowling alley . We walked over there and was greeted by our waitress CarrieAnn ! She was the sweetest, helpful and very hard working waitress we have ever had . The food was amazing , we we're so thrilled to see they had breakfast all day ! There was so much food that there was no way we could eat it all . Next time we will share a meal and then have some homemade cobbler . Only downfall is this place is not everywhere . read more

We went to Mossman's today for the fish and chips they are so famous for. We haven't had it in a long time and instead have been getting our fix at Lengthwise. Comparably Mossman's is a 5 and Lengthwise a 10. The fish wasn't seasoned nor were the fries and the tartar sauce was the consistency of a thin flavorless soup. I read that they serve breakfast all day and I am always looking for a new place that is close to home other than Denney's. Unfortunately they were not better although there were both good and bad things about my meal. I had the three pieces of bacon with one egg and hash browns that came with either toast or a biscuit and gravy for $5.99. I chose the biscuit and gravy. The egg and hash browns were good. The strips of bacon were large and crisp. But the biscuit was dry and the gravy lacked enough flavor for my tastes. No bueno! We visited for fish and chips. Sorry but we've had better and much less oily at Coconut Joes and roughly for the same price. Trust me there fish and chips aren't all that. When Carl's Jr had the fish and chips it was even better for being a food chain and you'd get more for your buck. For biscuits and gravy I'd go to Circle Deli way wayyyyy better. At this place, there is a plateau once you hit it, its like what else do they have to offer. You'll eventually look for a better alternative for food or the fish and chips!
