I absolutely HATE giving a bad review. Especially when it's a local, independent business. The menu is one of the smallest I've seen at a restaurant. The food wasn't of quality or taste for the price. The drinks were good, but also overpriced. There isn't a theme or decor, which I didn't expect with 19th Hole being the name. Empty decor and tables too closely crowded together. We went on a Friday at 5:15 and there were about 12 people in the bar area and only one other table with people seated in the restaurant area. This breaks my heart to post this review, but hopefully they'll turn it around.

I've read a lot of the reviews here and I'm glad it didn't keep me from going in! This place is a bar and grill. So I think you'd have to adjust your expectations. The vibe is casual and reminds me of other little grills that offer a small menu and have a bar. The seating is more pub style. This is not a place for a romantic dinner, if you're looking for that, go elsewhere. This place is for drinks after work, or after a round of golf with friends. There's some food offerings, and they are decent. The burger is great, the salad is really good too. The service is where the place shines. The waiter was so nice and helpful. I recommend trying the place during happy hour, you can grab a drink and they have small plates on that menu as well at a discount. I recommend the queso fundido. Yum! And big enough to share.

Went here for a quick drink and ended up hanging out for a bit. I was not expecting this to be a Mexican restaurant. They give you chips and salsa. The salsa was very good. The staff were friendly and attentive. Will be back to try it for lunch or dinner.

Really enjoyed our meal here! The ambience was great and our server was really nice. I love the salsa they bring out as an appetizer it's delicious and has a little kick to it. I ordered the lunch special enchiladas suizas and it was good portion size and yummy. My husband ordered the steak wrap with fries and we both loved it. We added a but more salt to the fries but overall we enjoyed the food. We would come back again. Great music.

The gem of Buena Vista neighborhood in Bakersfield. First things first... excellent ambiance with excellent staff. Felt welcome from the moment I opened the door. Plenty of TV's to enjoy your sports. Perfect music selection. Food is outstanding. We had the jalapeno poppers, to start. Super yummy. Hatch burger was one of the best burgers I've had here in Bakersfield. Dessert was scrumdiddlyumptious, creme brulee cheesecake...yes please. The restaurant is separated in two parts... spacious dining room on one side and an absolutely beautiful bar with tables on the other. There's even a patio. Bathrooms are very clean, which is a good sign for any restaurant. I highly recommend this gem of a restaurant to anyone who wants a casual date night or to hangout and enjoy the game.

    Great drinks!

Great bartender Benjamin, he was great and awesome service! Great drinks! Mustang mule & carajillo!

Saturday night and wanted to try a new spot. So happy we did; wasn't packed . Family friendly. The owner seated us; got to sit anywhere we wanted. Very casual vibe. Service was good. Able to watch sports - dodger game so hubby was happy. There's a patio to sit on as well- too hot in this heat though. Think if they get some live music sometime and have some e specials - I would give them five stars. We ordered some drinks - hubby got a draft beer. I ordered the sangria- refreshing. We shared the wings- wing habernero. Good kick ! Served with ranch yum. Great appetizer. This is a very clean local hangout. Would come back .

Came in on a Saturday night right before the kitchen closed. Walked in and was able to sit at the bar. Ordered the quesadilla bites, old-fashioned, and the Arnold Palmer drink with alcohol. Both the bartender and the kitchen staff were extremely helpful and nice. There was a little misunderstanding from how I ordered my food to what got stated to the kitchen, and they were extremely responsive and being able to assist in adjusting it. I know it's a new place so everything was very clean looking. Looks like a good place to go back and watch hockey.

It's a new spot nearby and glad we found it. The restaurant is clean and the service has been excellent the last 3 times I visited. Love their grill chicken sandwich with fries and my husband thought their meaty burger was delicious with big crunchy onion rings. It was cooked perfectly. They have a small bar area and the restaurant is spacious. Will definitely return!

    NOT a "wedge salad"

Well, unfortunately here's my follow-up review for this place, as I promised we would give it a fair chance to improve since their recent opening. I went by myself this time, on a Thursday evening. They've been open for a few months now, certainly long enough that they should have all the bugs worked out by now. They had a few customers, but not near as many as a bar/restaurant in Bakersfield needs to have on a Thursday night. They did expand the bar area by moving the wall, but that's it. No improvements in the decor whatsoever. It still looks and feels just like a cafeteria. Calling the "19th Hole" as if it is somehow attracting the golf crowd from the nearby golf course is just a joke. Ok, now the food. Horrible. Overpriced mediocre crap you can get at any roadside diner. I ordered the Wedge Salad, hoping they can't screw that up. But, they did. See the picture attached. I should have known when I ordered it and the broken-English-speaking bartender/waiter asked if I wanted any dressing. This is what he brought. With a little plastic cup of store-bought crappy bleu cheese dressing on the side. When I told him this isn't a Wedge Salad, all he could say is this is what the owner says it is. The steak was very thin, rubbery, and overcooked even though I specifically ordered medium rare. Lastly, the check. They charge extra if you use a credit card. I get it, credit card companies charge a fee. But blatantly passing this on to the customer rather than just merely including this in the cost of doing business is very unprofessional. Especially for food that is WAY overpriced for the mediocre quality that it is. If you're going to charge premium high prices for food, it needs to be worth it, and the staff needs to be well-trained and professional. We really REALLY wanted this place to be nice. Unfortunately it just doesn't cut it. We won't be back.

Love this place! Great customer service, the games are on, the employees are polite, the atmosphere is chill & welcoming. The happy hour is my favorite part about this place! The chicken tenders are so good & the bartenders always make my drinks so yummy. So close to Riverwalk & definitely worth stopping by before doing some shopping!

Nice place to meet up with friends. 4 stars for the bland fried platter and in the summer, the AC wasn't the best- the lounge can get pretty warm.

At the last minute, I actually had to move my reservation by 30min, so I called the restaurant and they were very accommodating, which I appreciated. Being a Bakersfield native I definitely wanted to check this place out being that I had visited Chase Bank prior to the vault taking over. I was absolutely amazed by the decorating on the interior. They literally left no stone unturned. Every single corner of the restaurant is beautifully decorated. I do love the whole vault theme. It definitely just feels like you're stepping back in time. The food was fantastic. On a Friday and Saturday night, they offer a prime rib special. The plate itself ran about $52. But it was well worth it. The prime rib absolutely melted in your mouth. It was paired with a beautifully baked potato. It was also served with a side of horseradish sauce as well as Au'ju, We also tried out the brussels sprouts appetizer. They were absolutely amazing. Flavor was spot on. And I would definitely recommend it if you're just wanting to try something a little bit different. Our meal also came with a soup or salad. My wife opted for the Caesar salad, with house made croutons which she said was great tasting. I opted for the soup of the day, which was an Italian wedding soup. Again great tasting everything tasted fresh and was piping hot.

The food was absolutely delicious, which is why I'm leaving this review, but unfortunately the service missed the mark during our most recent visit. We ordered our steak medium rare, but it came out well done. When our server took our order, our appetizers arrived quickly and then our entrees followed, but we had to remind him about the Starry soda that was ordered and never brought out initially. The biggest issue occurred when the Aguachile Ribeye was brought to our table. One of the plates was broken, causing food and sauce to spill all over me and the seat. While the server acknowledged something happened, there wasn't much concern shown about the spill on my shorts, and no replacement plate was offered. A simple apology and a little more attention to the situation would have gone a long way. Later, when we asked for a box for the leftover steak, it took quite a while and I ended up having to remind our server again. Overall, the food was fantastic and is the reason I continue to come back. The kitchen clearly knows what they're doing. However, the service could use some improvement, especially when it comes to attention to detail and handling issues when they arise. I'll still be back because I genuinely enjoy the food, but I hope the service experience improves on future visits.

Nobody plans to spend an evening in Bakersfield. You pass through it on the way to somewhere else…read more-- Mammoth, the Sequoias, the long flat grind up the 99 to Sacramento -- and if you stop at all, it's for gas or a bathroom or because your BMW's brakes have decided, somewhere around the Grapevine, that they'd rather not. Thank you, Weatherford BMW of Berkeley, for the near-death experience and, inadvertently, for one of the best nights out I've had in years. Stranded and waiting on repairs, we checked into The Padre, the only hotel in Bakersfield that feels like someone with a subscription to Dwell had a hand in it, and set out walking through a downtown that time has treated with more kindness than reputation suggests. There's a Woolworth's luncheonette still hanging on. There are old brick facades and wide sidewalks and the particular quiet of a Central Valley evening when the heat finally breaks. And then, on 18th Street, there is Tiki-Ko, and suddenly you are no longer in Bakersfield at all. You are, instead, inside someone's magnificent obsession. Tiki-Ko is a proper tiki bar -- not a tiki-themed cocktail lounge, not a place that bought some bamboo at a craft store and called it atmosphere, but a genuine, committed, floor-to-ceiling shrine to mid-century Polynesian fantasy. The carvings are real. The lighting is correct -- which is to say, barely there. The mugs are serious. There are pufferfish lamps and carved totems and the whole glorious taxonomy of tiki ephemera, accented here and there with a skate-culture edge that keeps it from feeling like a museum. It's reverent without being precious. The drinks are the real thing. Mai Tais built with actual orgeat. Zombies that earn the name. The bartenders make them with the kind of care and enthusiasm that tells you this isn't a gig -- it's a calling. They want you to be here. They want to talk about rum. They want you to try the Painkiller. In a city that most Angelenos regard as a punch line, somebody built a world-class cocktail bar and filled it with joy, and the regulars clearly know it. You will not plan a trip to Bakersfield. But if you find yourself there -- by mechanical failure, by accident, by the peculiar mercy of a bad brake job -- walk downtown. Find the tiki bar. Order a second round. Stay longer than you intended. Bakersfield has been underestimated, and Tiki-Ko is the proof.

There are a few bench style seating areas at the front with some short coffee tables. Think- skater tiki bar. The drinks were good- small menu if you're not sure what you want or are new to tiki. Both sides of the menu are the same menu. There are some nice mocktail options as well- you don't see that often. The service for me is mixed- it wasn't busy- steady but not busy- 1/4 full. I ordered two drinks to start for our table- (no cocktail servers here/not unusual for a small Tiki bar) I asked for a soda water- the bartender looked at me without a word- popped open a can of soda water and walked away. When he walked back by, I asked for a glass of ice- he said nothing and I got an eye-roll huff. I almost left. I don't think providing a glass with ice to pour your canned room temp soda water in, is too wacky an idea to be perturbed by the request. The female who took the order was friendly, smiled and was professional. We got a third cocktail- the Mai Tai. The grumpy bartender was friendlier this time. So, that helped. Maybe he felt overwhelmed and I threw off his groove by asking for water- then a glass... either way- being annoyed wasn't cool. The music.... Wasn't Tiki- it threw off the "Tiki Vibe" and made it feel typical small local bar that serves only Tiki drinks with some Tiki decor. It didn't take you to the land of Tiki- disappointed. Drinks were good.
