The presentation of the dish was visually appealing, with a creamy gravy-smothered chicken fried steak, a side of potato hashbrowns, and a delicate purple orchid for garnish. However, the taste did not live up to the aesthetic promise. The meat had an unexpectedly sour taste, which ultimately led to a case of food poisoning. It's worth noting that meat is not supposed to taste sour, as this indicates spoilage. Would I come back? Probably not.

This review is just for their to-go service and the fish and chips I ordered. I was craving for fish and chips one afternoon then decided to stop by here. Service was fast and the fish and chips were delicious. It was crispy on the outside and soft in the inside. It wasnt salty either. Service was fast probably bec it was before 5. Nevertheless, I would like to go back here and try their breakfast menu.

Came in on a Sunday around 9 and surprisingly it was quiet. We were sat right away and our server was very kind and took our order right away. We ordered the chilaquiles and some chicken and waffles. Unfortunately the food wasn't the best. The sauce tasted like tomato sauce and the chicken needed seasoning. Wouldn't mind coming back to try something different next time.

Came the day before Mother's Day as the previous restaurant we planned to visit was packed. Arrived and there were few patrons and instantly felt comfortable with the vibe of the restaurant. We ordered the onion rings as an appetizers and I ordered the Fish and Chicken and Garden salad. First, the food portions were ABUNDUNT! The onion rings were piping hot and extremely delicious. Next, my entree came and everything was delicious! I was expecting a small salad with my entree and it was an abundant salad with ham and other toppings! The chicken was juicy and breading was well seasoned. The fish was perfectly seasoned and very delicious. The service from the waiters and waitresses was superb. We left very full and happy with our evening dinner! Thank you!

We visited this restaurant on Saturday, May 24, 2025 @ approximately 10:00 am. The restaurant has plenty of parking and patio seating. We were seated immediately upon arrival. We were originally seated at a booth and like most booth seating, you're lower than the table because you sink into the seat. I requested a table and we were reseated at a table /booth combo; better than the previous. Our orders were taken promptly and waitstaff was attentive. The atmosphere was very casual and not overly loud or crowded. I ordered Mossman's Original Fish and chips. The fish was seasoned perfectly and fried to perfection. The fries were undercooked and a bit hard. The coleslaw was bland. I probably wouldn't order this dish again. My sister order the chicken and waffles. It consisted of several chicken strips and one waffle and a homemade maple syrup with jalapeños. She said it was delicious. My niece order off the kids menu. Four pieces of French toast and two strips of bacon. She said it was ok. I also ordered onion rings. The onion rings were served piping hot and fried crispy. Overall the food was okay and the service was excellent. Bathroom was clean and nicely stocked. Note: there's a 3% charge fee for using a credit card.

If you're going to Mossman's, I hear you have to try the Fish & Chips. That's what we were in the mood for. I think this used to be the Broken Yoke. It's a very spacious, open restaurant. Mossman's gives it a homey feel. The servers are pleasant and efficient. The booths are comfortable. The fish was tender and not over battered. The fries were plentiful. This is a good place to eat. Mossman's lives up to its reputation.

I was wanting something different, and this place was it. I went for fish and chips but ended up getting the fish and chicken. Super good. Friendly service and the best part was it didn't cost much more than fast food. I call that a win!

I wish I could do half a stars.... Honestly give it a 3.5. Very busy on weekend mornings; but they seemed to figure it all out. Ordered my to go order.... Took about twenty mins or so . Wish they had a water station why you wait. Shoot, this weather is hot. Ordered the chili verde omelet.... Was good .... Chunks of meat. My husband ordered the country fried steak.... They give a good amount of gravy on the side. Gravy is a little watery though. However; he ordered biscuits n gravy and I dunno about what they called a biscuit- it was more like a hamburger bun or dinner roll . Wish the biscuit was actually a biscuit - would have complimented the gravy a lot better. *used to be the old broken yolk on buena vista*

When I heard Mossman's was getting their own restaurant outside of the bowling alleys, I couldn't wait to go! Bakersfield has long been missing a good fried fish restaurant since the departure of my beloved Sea Breeze. For those who don't know, Mossman's took over the Broken Yolk Cafe on White Lane and Buena Vista. It doesn't look like there was any serious demo done to the building just new decor. The place is huge and I we hope that soon it will be to full capacity. They have a HUGE outdoor patio with plenty of fans and even Roman shades that can be rolled down when the sun is beaming. The day we went, they had been open for just over a week and there was a steady stream of take out orders being picked up. There are a few kinks they need to work out, mostly with cooking the food in a timely manner, but I'm sure they're up for the task. So the hubby and I both ordered the Original Fish & Chips but substituted the slaw for a garden salad. The fish was light and flaky, it was just missing the seasoning (This is where I began reminiscing about the good ole Sea Breeze days). Our fries weren't as crispy as I would've liked and they were also unseasoned. The salad was okay but they put it in the world's smallest bowl so eating it without making a mess was impossible! The biscuit was delicious! So light and fluffy! My daughter ordered the French toast and said it was good. I'm hoping that our food "issues" are attributed to new restaurant kinks and will eventually get worked out. I'm willing to give them another try before completely dismissing them, especially since we desperately need a fried fish place in town! C'mon Bakersfield, let's go out and support a local business that needs to stay around for years to come!

Within 15 minutes, the entire restaurant was filled. I ordered the pozole and chile verde pork burrito to go. It took about 20 minutes, which is understandable with a full restaurant. The pozole is simple and delicious: chunks of chicken breast and hominy in a rich broth. I added the diced white onions, cilantro, squeeze of lime and tortilla chips. Delicious, fresh, simple and clean. Love, love, love this pozole. $15.00 The chile verde pork burrito, which I ordered without any additional ingredients, is also delicious. Chunks of pork in a tasty chili verde sauce. Definitely enjoyed this burrito! Great customer service, delicious & fresh food! Definitely recommend and will return. Support small, local businesses!

It took a while to be approached by the staff and then luckily seated quickly because a table was miraculously open. But after that we rarely saw our waitress. Long waits in between ordering, receiving food, receiving check etc It was decorated lightly for Harry Potter over its regular decor which was confusing, but the waitress said the owner loved Harry Potter and it was his birthday. Can't argue with that, pop off dude. The food itself was good. I had a latte and a breakfast burrito with chile verde and fruit pancakes. The chile verde was the best part of the meal. Everything else was pretty average and typical for breakfast food. I did like their extensive menu and Mexican American flavors, it was a fun touch. I'm not sure I'll be back on a weekend, not worth the hassle. Would try on a weekday

All of the pastries looked delicious as there were many to choose from. We decided to go with a guava pastry and another that the lady behind the counter said the inside was a brownie, so we decided to go with that. Guava pastry was delicious, although when we got to the "brownie" pastry there was no brownie. The lady did mention she was new, although the pastry we ended up with was mainly peanut butter, big difference. I know what it's like to be new, but it's always best to ask for help when in doubt. I did ask if there was a pricing menu for all of the pastries, I prefer to have a heads up of pricing before ordering and the lady said they didn't have one. Guava pastry was delicious, it would be nice to know what the pricing is since there is a lot to choose from.
