She also remarked that my brake pads had been replaced elsewhere previously and said, "Who knows what parts they put there?!"--which came across as unprofessional rather than helpful. Uncomfortable with both the cost and the interaction, I left and drove to another auto service center. They quickly diagnosed the issue as worn rear brake pads (which had been replaced several years ago), and the repair was completed within a few hours. For comparison, Nissan Escondido offers a free multi-point inspection and provides a free loaner car for services over $200. The fact that this dealer claims to value customer service and transparency is an absolute joke. On Wednesday 3/25, they listed a car for sale for $52,977 (pictured). I called and spoke to their team, and they told us to come in to finalize numbers and take delivery of the car later. We drove 2 hours each way, negotiated for 3 hours, and came to agreed terms (pictured). When we were about to sign the finance paperwork, their finance manager, Carlos, stopped us and said we could not proceed because the car had not been smogged or inspected. Yesterday, I received a call that the car was ready for sale, but the price was now $57,977. Regardless, we drove another 2 hours, test drove the car, and wanted to proceed with negotiations. When we asked about the price increase, Leon, the used car manager, came up to us and immediately spoke in a demeaning and disrespectful manner. He said he did not even want to sell us the car anymore. When asked about the price change, he said, "it's because I have the authority to change the price." He was extremely rude and disrespectful and would not even look at me when I spoke. The situation escalated to the point where he no longer wanted to sell the car to me, and the GM asked us to leave. I eventually drove to the dealership myself and spoke with Leon, who mentioned his "30 years of experience" and told me they supposedly had no idea where the car was, who picked it up, or what company transported it. According to him, they do not keep track of who takes possession of returned lease vehicles. No company names, no contacts, no transport records, nothing. That explanation alone was difficult to take seriously. Instead of getting actual answers, I was handed random phone numbers for auctions and other places and left to figure it out myself. At that point I contacted General Manager Nick Kleiter, reached out to Nissan Consumer Affairs, and escalated the issue through multiple channels. Then suddenly, the very next morning, I received a call saying they had "found a box" that "might" be my property. Interesting turnaround considering less than 24 hours earlier I was being told there was supposedly no way to know where the vehicle went or who had possession of it. The GM also jokingly referred to me as a "detective" because I had spent time calling around trying to recover my own belongings. At the same time, he continued maintaining that they supposedly do not know who picks up the cars -- despite somehow locating my property immediately after the matter was escalated. To be fair, I did recover my belongings, which is the reason this review is not 1 star. Still, the entire situation felt evasive and unnecessarily difficult from beginning to end. Do NOT buy used cars from this dealership -- sold me an unsafe and unreliable car. I bought a used car from this dealership on 10/21/2025 (didn't receive it until three weeks later 11/11/2025 due to defective replacement tail lights. Warranty was essentially worthless -- one month or 1,000 miles (whichever came first), giving me only about a week to return it if anything was wrong. Within a month I was having problems; by two months the car was unsafe. It wouldn't go over 40-45 MPH, leaving me constantly tailgated, honked at, and harassed on the road. I felt unsafe and anxious driving it. I finally had it diagnosed on 1/16/2026 and was told it needed thousands of dollars in repairs and labor. I had to rely on Uber for weeks while I raised the money; repairs weren't completed until 2/16/2026. After regaining some trust, the car became unsafe again by 3/18/2026. A second diagnosis on 3/20/2026 revealed it needs a new engine -- thousands more, plus rental/car replacement costs while it's in the shop. This dealership sold me a car that was neither reliable nor safe and provided a practically useless warranty. I spent months without a dependable vehicle, incurred repair bills, and endured significant stress and safety risk. I bought a new 2021 Altima from Mossy 3 years ago. I've been very happy with the car. That said, I just found out that they LIED to me when I bought the car. They told me that it was an AWD. So for the past 3 years, I've been thinking I had this wonderful car, only to find out from another Nissan dealer in Montana, that it is only a front wheel drive car. Plus now that I think about it, they told me that my 2015 Altima had a recall on it for the gas fill pipe. Something about it being bad due to salt on the roads. Fiancé (who shall go unnamed in my posts for privacy reasons) saw a car online he wanted; we showed up a hair after 7 pm and Cody said while they close at 7; they'll stay open as long as necessary to do deals. He directed us to the correct driveway as we were on the wrong side of the lot. 5 stars for Cody- he was on his way home and actually went back to the entrance to wait for us. Super sweet, engaging guy and yes I know he's there to make money, but he wasn't pushy with the add-ons. After the usual credit runs and figuring out the payment plan we wanted, we were ready to sign. Annoying was getting a rate we signed for then getting offered one over 4% less if we signed a new contract with the the add-on packages. The ONLY reason I took the deal the finance guy offered is because my near-perfect credit score carried both of us and he needs to build his- he is essentially buying credit for himself by becoming my co-signer and he needed a car immediately. He works from his car and drives around 200 miles every day. Also annoying was having to return the next day to sign more paperwork, but I get it- they wanted to go home the night before and it became a long event- we sat there over three hours and things got missed. I know this is how car lots work, the upsells but I will stick with bringing a blank check for my car-buying needs (I'm still a fan of Carmax haha). I went to go and look at the Teslas they have. 2021 Tesla Model 3 has 50k+ miles on it, according to Tesla themselves they state that the brakes need to be changed every 25k miles. The car fax shows this vehicle hasn't had it done but they did inspect the brakes and they are at least at 70% or greater. The manager Larry said, "look we have three options, one, you don't have to buy the car, two we can get an appointment to get them checked today, or three, we can have them inspected Monday and send you the report". I said to Larry, but don't you think it's odd, that a vehicle with this many miles was OK'd with the brakes even though it's been more than double the time. He reiterates that I don't have the buy the car. I said I just want you to share my concern about it, isn't it strange? The whole time this guy is interrupting me when I'm talking. Who does that? I got up to leave after being insulted and told the salesman, who was lovely to work with, Jorge Hans, that his manger ruined this sale for him. His manger then said as I was leaving, "you can't ruin what never was" . I guess I was never there? I guess I never wanted to buy it? BUYER BEWARE - AVOID AT ALL COSTS - 6 HOURS OF WASTED TIME - LIARS In interest of saving you time (unlike Mossy Nissan) here is a three sentence summary of my experience: Mossy Nissan completely wasted my time and damaged my credit score with misleading promises and poor business practices. They assured me the sale was "first come, first serve," yet after running a hard credit inquiry, they backed out of the deal and prioritized another buyer willing to pay full price. There are clear issues with management that trickle down through the whole dealership, and I guarantee they will screw you over just as they did to me. Full review: I recently had a frustrating and disappointing experience at Mossy Nissan while trying to purchase a 2017 Ford Mustang. Misleading Promises & Wasted Time: Before making the 1.5-hour drive from Riverside to Oceanside, I called ahead to confirm the car was still available. The sales rep assured me it was and emphasized "first come, first serve"--though they had a 4 PM appointment, I could get there by 3 PM. Despite traffic, I arrived at 3:20 PM, test drove the car, and sat down to discuss a deal. Unfortunately, their trade-in offer was lower than expected, and they had no room for negotiation. Baiting Buyers & Poor Ethics: Adding insult to injury, I was then told that another customer had arrived and was willing to pay full price--so much for "first come, first serve." He eventually pointed me to Ron Gibson, who casually told me he had made a mistake in approving the numbers. Instead of owning up to it sooner, they wasted hours of my time and hurt my credit score. When I brought up the impact of a hard inquiry, Ron dismissively said, "It won't affect your score"--a blatantly false statement. Final Thoughts: The only "apology" they offered was a free gas fill-up, which took another 30 minutes to complete. By then, it was obvious they were stalling to see if the other deal went through. So on my day off I took it in and Christian Hernandez said about half a day (it was 730am I arrived half an hour ealry) I said okay and they gave me a lift home. 9am rolls by and they tell me all these things they want to upsell me. I said no they pressure me over email I say fine air filter but that's it 66 bucks. Now I have plans to go pick up my wife around 9 pm so I call at 5 to get an update (disconnected) 6 answering machine because they are closed (bull) so they finally get back to me to change a AIR FILTER and do an INSPECTION for a recall a DAY LATER my half a day turned into 24 hours.
