We checked in to leave the coast during the tsunami warning. They gave us a room over the phone while driving. And held it for our late check in for us and our pup. The room was clean, quiet and easy to find. The hotel itself is right next to Starbucks and In and out burger . Perfect for quick stops . Easy to get in and out if , well lit, pleasant grounds . Room was booked through a relative. Basically, you get what you pay for but we even got less. First off, no fridge and no microwave which we were aware of before we got there. But when we checked in the pool was closed, the ice machine didn't work and even the vending machine wasn't working. It was minimally cleaned, there was a hair on my pillow. No soap or shampoo. (Luckily we had our own). Thankfully it is located near places to eat and the bed was comfortable enough for two of us. Although it is a small queen size. read more

The staff were all incredibly nice. However, the rooms were definitely dirty but I think it had more to down with the length of time guests tend to stay and the housekeepers may not be equipped with the best tools to really clean (nor are they probably paid enough)! There was NO WiFi in my room. I was in 145 and I was told other rooms have Internet WiFi but the position of my room doesn't allow for it. (I used my personal hotspot.) There is also no air conditioning. I've stayed at numerous Motel 6 locations across the country and this was one of the less desirable experiences I've had but again, staff were incredibly nice. Upper management maybe needs to do better and advocate for more tools for their overworked and underpaid staff. read more

I was driving up Interstate 5 and decided I was too tired to continue on for three more hours to my destination. I pulled off the highway in Grants Pass and parked in a hotel lot while I used my phone to see what was available. My two considerations were that I didn't want to spend a lot of money AND I was traveling with my two dogs. The hotel whose parking lot I was using looked nice but expensive. There appeared to be no great place for my pups to do their business (not that they did anything more than pee) and I didn't relish taking an elevator multiple times during the night to take them outside. Yelp told me there was a Motel 6 nearby, the reviews were OK, so I gave them a call. Yes, they had one room left and they were dog friendly. She told me I could get a better price by downloading the app but I was more interested in getting there to claim that room before it was gone. Two minutes later, I was in their lobby that more resembled a gas station mini mart, with cashier and vending machine. No matter. I provided ID and credit card to pay the one night price (about $85). They had no long disclaimer I had to sign about the dogs, no dog deposit, no threatening policies that might have me keep the dogs locked in the bathroom (tile floors in case of an accident). We took the room on the second floor, overlooking the pool. There were lots of places where the pups could find relief, all around the buildings. The room was clean. (I did not check under the beds but the dogs did.) There were no bedspreads, no art on the wall, no microwave or mini fridge (complaints in some of the negative reviews) but all we needed was sleep. The parking lot was full with plenty of nice cars and the morning revealed lots of dogs and smokers. While the outside smoking area (no smoking in rooms) was near my room, it was not a dealbreaker. It has been a long time since I've slept on a mattress with noisy springs, but that is my only complaint. I still slept and the dogs were able to each wake me when necessary to go outside. While there were plenty of dogs staying, at no time did the room or buildings smell of dogs and I did not run across any poop on the property. We got up, got in the car and made our way home that morning. The room served its purpose. I was not expecting a luxury environment. I was just looking for someplace safe and clean. It was that. It gets three stars not because anything was wrong but because it was not a 5-star resort. It is Motel 6 (and in the middle of the night, it saved the day). read more

I was homeless, older lady alone. My dog and I stayed 6 months there. The staff and manager Sandy are beyond amazing. My dog Dukes girl friends. I felt safe there, staff made me feel safe and secure. Always there when needed. Took care of any situation that may have arises. I finally found a place but I miss you guys. Thank you for everything you did for me. You get what you pay for staying at one of the cheapest places around (no fridge, no shampoo, only a communal microwave..) I booked a non-smoking room and was given a room that smelled strongly of tobacco. I was going to put up with it until I found stains on the sheets. Thankfully, the kind man at check in was apologetic and gave me a different room that didn't have either of these issues. I give them 2 stars. 1 for pool and 1 for the price . If you decide to stay here, just be aware: No extra toilet paper in the room. No soap, no shampoo, no coffee pots, no microwave, no refrigerator. Very basic. I laughed at how loud both the beds squeaked in this room. I'm not laughing how uncomfortable they are. Room was pretty clean. I don't think they have cleaned the walkways in years! Gross. The smoking section has a 100 buts in the bucket. Go to this place. Give them your business. My elderly father and I were stranded with car parts being shipped in. Summer. 104 degrees out. Regardless of being at capacity, a gentleman and a lady working there got us a room, gave us a discount and were nothing but the nicest and most lovely people we met on our trip north. The room was spotless, the pool was heaven after fixing the car in the mid day sun and they made every effort to make us as comfortable as possible. A fascinating place loaded with people coming from all over. The last true roadside motel. In which the atmosphere is more poetry than place. The Motel 6 is a cut-rate chain so I didn't ding them for that. When you pay half what the rest of the area motels are charging you have to expect that corners will be cut so I factored that in my review. The room and grounds were clean and the room was comfortable. I wouldn't want to live there but for a place to crash for the night, it was fine. Note that I am former military so I am used to non-existent bedding.... the beds and mattresses are about the cheapest bedding out there. If you're used to sleeping on an expensive, super comfortable mattress you may find the experience here lacking. Staff was friendly and efficient. There were a LOT of derelict looking characters hanging around and living in cars that were so dirty and dusty that I'm sure they have been parked there for months. I didn't personally feel unsafe and my car didn't get broken into but there were definitely a LOT of sketchy characters calling the Motel 6 parking lot home. Two ice machines. Both broken. This a a major issue for me so minus points for that. No hair drier. No shampoo or conditioner. No clock. Two tiny bars of soap. No refrigerator. I have to say, this is the most sparely appointed motel room I have stayed in since 1963. The room was lousy. Not clean, including a ring around the shower (??!!). But for $60, I thought I could deal for one night. However, the A/C didn't work. It was 100° in this town today, and the room was hot after direct evening sun. The AC put out a teensy bit of cool air, but not cold, even on it's lowest setting & highest output; there was no way the room would get to a reasonable temperature in hours even. When I called to complain, they said they didn't have a fan & I could move to a 2-bed room for a surcharge. There was no way I was going to pay more, *especially* if that's what they call "working" A/C. Percy, at the front desk, was unable or unwilling to do anything & said there was no manager before 10:00 the next day. He was a pretty serious jerk (aside from not being empowered to help), so I was a little jerky back, which is not my usual nature. But this was lousy even for Motel 6. $60 is very cheap, but in this motel, it's TOO cheap. I'm not surprised TripAdvisor calls them the second-worst motel in the city, and may God be with those who stay at the one worse place. P.S. the Hampton Inn is 3 blocks away and even though it's costs twice as much, it's TOTALLY ABSOLUTELY WORTH IT. Superior in every single measurable way. read more

Grants Pass has a bunch of north side hotels, all along the busiest street, ranging in price from under $50 to over $150. Not trusting the two cheapest motels (based on their exterior looks), I went Motel 6 and very glad I did. It's still not the quietest place but for under $100 it gave me clean, safe, up to date rooms where everything worked properly. Too late in the season to use the pool but it's a nice touch to have. They let me check out (at 6 AM) by leaving the key in the room instead of going to the lobby - it was either or - which I like because I was polar opposite the entire complex from the lobby location. Would've been tough. All in all it worked out for me and definitely gave me a better night than the two cheapo places. But for what I had to spend to get it, I wish there was at least a free breakfast! And a little more sound deadening. read more

We were in Grants pass for half a week because my sister was getting married. We decided to stay at Motel 6 and got the deluxe package. What this translates to is one of the nicest rooms with 2 full beds, a tv, desk, chair, microwave, mini fridge, and bathroom. It seemed like it would be a good place for us to stay while we were in Oregon. Arriving into the room initially seemed like it was nice. I had definitely stayed in worse before. Upon initial inspection, there were no bed bugs, a clean floor, clean microwave, somewhat clean fridge, the sheets had some stains, but barely noticeable as most motels bleach their sheets so they're good to go for the next customers. They give 2 small bars of soap, a decent amount of towels, and housekeeping will come by and see if we need new towels. The few staff members we talked too weren't too friendly, but they weren't too rude either. Those were all the positives of the room. As for negatives there certainly was a few. The keys we got initially had 1 that didn't work so we had to go back and get a new one. The vent seriously needs to be dusted since we turned on the fan and immediately had some sizeable chunks of dust blowing out. The mattress sides had some very noticeable stains on the sides. Homeless people come and hang out in the parking lot yelling and sleeping outside of the doors. The mattresses are some of the cheapest and loudest ones I've slept on. There was a big clipped toenail under my pillow when I checked the bed for bedbugs. We kept finding tons of shorter black hairs around the room. None of us have black hairs, nor are any of our hair that short. We learned from the front desk that there are only 5 or 6 rooms with fridges or microwaves in it, so be warned that most rooms there won't have either. If you want ice, you need to walk to the front desk since the ice machine is in that room. Now for the biggest negative, the hot water. We ran the shower for 30 minutes waiting for hot water to come. The most it had was lukewarm water. We called the front desk the next day and a repair guy came over to look at it. He turned it on, it became hot after a bit, and he said that the water heater was on the complete opposite side of the lot so it takes a while for it to pump over here. This was the only time we had actually hot water since very few people showered in the morning. Towards the evening and night however, all the other hotel rooms had used the hot water so we were always left with cold/lukewarm water. If a motel is going to have a deluxe suite they should have a water heater towards that side, or a bigger water heater that can support lots of guests showering. Most people don't hop in freezing cold showers so just thinking about how long people are running/wasting water for, just waiting for hot water is a shame. I don't even want to know how many gallons of water are wasted here. On top of all this, the bathroom had a sign saying it's encouraged to keep reusing the same towels because they want to save water. Reusing a towel is nothing compared to the amount of water wasted while waiting for the shower to heat up. It feels like greenwashing, where they want it to seem like they're trying to make a difference, but in reality aren't tackling the big problems that help this issue. If you want a good motel or hotel, this isn't the place to stay. I personally would rather pay a little bit more money to stay at a nicer place next time I come back. Therefore I'll be taking my business elsewhere next time. 3/10. read more

After driving for a while I booked a night to rest and keep driving the next day traveling with 2 kids and my wife we don't smoke, also rooms says it's smoke free but had a strong smell we had to wash all our stuff the very next day only with 8 hrs of us been there because everything got impregnated with the smell, place was dirty, seems like is busy for all the local crackheads in the area, you see them all around I was worried about my car been broken in to, that place has someone smoking 24hrs weed or tabaco, I even saw one of the ladies cleaning the rooms with a cigarette in her mouth ‍‍‍ I was to tired to go look for another place, and while I was checking out a lady was complaining about roaches on the second rooms she got, if you can just drive the next city over looks a lot cleaner read more

Stayed here on a Friday night in July. Pre-booked our room through hotels.com and paid just under $100 with taxes. The room consisted of two double beds, television, phone, mini fridge and a microwave. The pool was closed, during the summer, during 100 degree temperatures, because of a "chlorine shortage." The room was super tiny; probably the smallest motel room I've ever stayed in. A group of 4 people didn't help the room size. They provided two small bars of soap, and that's it; No lotion, shampoo, conditioner or body wash. No coffee maker. No tissue paper nor laundry bag offered in the room. I was shocked to see a second roll of toilet paper. Every single towel had a clump of previous user's hair stuck to it. We spent most the evening killing flies and gnats that were buzzing around the room. The bedding was covered in lint, felt unclean, and overall just gross. The bed squeaked when you sat on it. Although ironically, we slept just fine on it. I wouldn't say it's the best comfort, but it did okay. The air vent was covered in dust and badly needed to be changed, or at least dusted. We couldn't get the air conditioner thermostat low enough to keep the room "cool." So we had to live with "slightly cooler than outside." The shower was tiny; the shower head was the same height as my forehead, and I'm only 5'4. I have no idea how my husband showered in there comfortably. Lol The only bright side to staying here was the reminder that it "was just for one night." The cost was WAY overpriced. This room was only worth $50/night tops. If you're desperate for a place to rest and can't find anything better, then anyone can make this room work temporarily. Just bring your essentials with you. Other than that, I would definitely not recommend this place. Not worth the money you spend the least bit in my personal opinion. read more

Tons of dodgy people hanging out outside and the whole space (including the lobby) smelled like pot. When checking in I was given a room, but upon going to the room it was filthy - beds unmade, filled with trash, etc. I went back to the office to be told there was no other room available and would have to be given a refund and go elsewhere (at 7pm). We booked a reservation July 2-6th for a unexpected family funeral. The first night our room was missing lights and the T.V. was broken. The 2nd night we were moved to a fairly good room. On July 4th the air conditioning for the entire complex stopped working. We were told it would be fixed but by evening it was not. We had asked twice earlier in the day for fresh towels but they never showed or cleaned the room. We turned in our keys on the 4th to find accommodation's. Management was not available that night so we could not get a refund of our 2 days. We challenged the entire reservation with Visa. They did send them back 50% of what we paid. 30 DAY LATER VISA SENT HOTEL 6 AN ADDITIONAL 50% BECAUSE VISA RECEIVED DOCUMENTS FROM HOTEL 6 STATING WE STAYED THE ENTIRE RESERVATION. WE DID NOT. I called the front desk only for them to tell me they knew is was broken and there was nothing they could do for me and to call back and speak with the manager. Let's just say you get what you pay for. For $65 per night we got a room with two very old double beds that actually squeeked when you sat on them or got up out of them. They felt wrapped in plastic. The free internet sucked but didn't really exist because if you wanted anything more than what they offered it would have cost $5+ per day. No coffee due to COVID. Ice was plentiful, however. The bathroom was updated but the shower head was placed perfectly for me -- I am 5 ft 2 ". HH did not bother. No amenities such as shampoo or even a blow dryer were provided. The room was very clean. We cracked up when we read on the back of the bathroom door that the actual rate for the room was $205 per night. Liar, liar pants on fire. I'd stay here in a pinch, but I think if I come through here again, I'll find something a little bit better. My fault for going cheap. read more

I've stayed at many hotel 6s, I usually am very satisfied with my stay clean modern rooms. Defiantly worth what you pay. But this particular motel 6 was the most disgusting hotel I've ever stayed in. There was hair all over the shower, which I'm praying was just beard trimmings. Not only did the shower have hair, but also muddy fingerprints all over the handles. Feces left in the toliet. I pulled out towels and the rack was covered in dirt and hair. I was to scared to even investigate the bed. Staff were chasing people around outside and escorting people off property alot. read more

The room was full of cigarette smoke. When we asked to change it we were told that they have sold out and have no other rooms to put us in. When we complained to the stuff, they have offered us a guest certificate for a free night in the entire chain. That was a bit soothing, but it didn't help my clothing which for the entire weekend smelt like I've been smoking two packs a day. Apparently some guy on his bicycle just happened to stroll by the parking lot at about 1 in the morning who literally just went up to our truck and shattered our driver window for no reason and then took off, didn't take anything so I guess that's the only bright side. It is absolutely spotlessly clean and recently remodeled. If you just like the basics and don't need a refrigerator for coffee or some of the other little amenities usually available it's OK. I stayed at other places for the same or less money and had more amenities. Seventh Street is so noisy I might as well be in the freeway and I'm not usually a noise bug so that means it's really noisy. I won't stay here again just for personal preference reasons. I would rather pay more and be more comfortable. Also the bed makes so much noise every time you move it wakes you up. It's not uncomfortable it just makes a lot of noise. I guess part of it was check in also. The guy checking me and pretended to be nice but he didn't really mean it. When I told him that I had a trailer attached to my truck he almost threw me off the property. Motel 6 - you are a good, basic NO FRILLS chain, who made a noble attempt at re-branding with the new MODERN room designs. You added laminate floors instead of nasty carpet and you dumped the old bedspreads! BRAVO. We travel with dogs and your parking lot-to-door access makes our stay convenient. The laminate floors are clean and shiny - I don't fret about other guest's dogs having peed in the carpet. I bring my own shampoo & hair dryer and it works out well. But, you still need to try harder to keep my business. Sadly the maintenance is not very good. My non-smoking room reeked if cigarettes, and at first glance was very clean. After we were settled in for the night we did find stained box spring covers and filthy filters in the heat intake.
