Food, service and atmosphere were all excellent! We did a lot of research looking for a relatively reasonably priced restaurant for fine dining i.e. white tablecloths and good service and came up with Mothers. The rock wall interior is cozy and hip. The service by Skylar was outstanding - attentive but didn't hover. We had a lovely conversation as well. I had the halibut which was positively heavenly. Husband had the scallops with black pasta, also excellent. The drinks were great as well. The salad, asparagus soup and bread were also great. Highly recommend!

I've been here plenty of times but typically it's with a group of friends and we hit the bar. Last night (01/23/2026) I came here to sit actually sit in the dining area and enjoy a meal. My friend and I were there for a late Birthday/Christmas celebration. I called and made reservations due to it being a Friday evening and I'm glad that I did as it did get very busy. The dining area is sectioned off and I really like the ambience that the low lighting/candles set, it's perfect for a date night. I started with an espresso martini-I love that they give you the option of Baileys or no Baileys, not all restaurants do this. My friend got the Titos martini with blue cheese stuffed olives and she said it was delicious. We started off with the fan favorite Southwest Shrimp Fritters, Warm Brie & Artichoke Dip and Raw Oysters. The fritters are always fantastic, and I will order them every time I go to Mother's lol. The brie and artichoke dip is nice, but the bread was quite oily, and I didn't feel there was enough artichoke in the dip. I didn't indulge in the oysters but was told they were great. We both ordered the Pan Seared Scallops with Black Fettuccine. The scallops were cooked to absolute perfection and I enjoy that the dish isn't smothered in the cream sauce. Of course it wouldn't be a celebration without dessert! I ordered the Crème Brûlée and my friend got the Espresso Cheesecake. The Crème Brûlée had that lovely crispy top and the custard was smooth and creamy without being overly sweet. I was told that the Espresso cheesecake was heavy but very good as well. We also ordered a slice of Peanut Butter Pie each to go. I would highly recommend any of those desserts. Our server's name was Amanda, she was lovely-very attentive and knowledgeable. Our overall experience was terrific! Mother's (in my opinion) gives you exactly what their website says-"Buffalo's premier fine-dining restaurant and bar with a casual, social atmosphere." I'm looking forward to the warmer weather to enjoy the patio seating!

I have heard great things about this restaurant so I was excited to try it out for my friends birthday. The bar area is so nice, I could sit at the bar all day for cocktails. The food and service left something to be desired. They don't let you order appetizers unless you order all of your food at once. I've never heard of that policy at any other restaurant I've been to...and that's a lot lol. The appetizers were really good - we ordered shrimp fritters, clams, and the brie and artichoke dip. We ordered cocktails such as Palomas, wine, margaritas, etc. and they were all good and fairly priced. The entrees though were less than great. I ordered the scallops linguine that has black noodles but they had no ink flavor so I'm not sure if they just dyed them? They didn't advertise it as ink pasta, I just assumed because of the color. The saffron sauce had no saffron flavor. The scallops were cooked perfectly though. My friends all got different steak dishes and regardless of whether they ordered medium rare or medium, they all came out super rare and the vegetables were cold. We sent back 2 of the dishes and asked them to cook the meat a little more ... The food came back 2 minutes later with no additional cook to it. But everyone knows you don't send food back a second time unless you want to risk it being tampered with, So we all sucked it up and ate our food. Was it great? No... But it was good. Would we go back? Probably not.

Service was fast, we hit the bar first. The guy let me shake the shaker (metal cup thingy) really friendly GIVE SAM A RAISE!!! (AND JASON, GIVE HIM A RAISE TOO.) The food was delicious, wouldn't go there everyday but still amazing! Decor was beautiful, it looked like a 90's fancy bar - restaurant.

A lot of my friend recommended this place so we decided to try this place for our valentine date night. It is a very cozy and romantic looking place. We made reservations because I knew how pack it was gonna get around Valentine's week. We got seated right away. The staffs were super friendly. We made our order and my husband got himself a glass of wine. The first I notice was this wine glass was dirty and there was something floating in the wine. I immediately asked the staff for a new glass. The starters were good, the Brie was a little heavy. My favorite starter was the steamed mussels. The broth was so good and the meat comes off the s very easily. Next was our main dish. It was quite disappointing. My fish came undercooked so I couldn't even finish it even if I want to. I didn't tell the staff since I already complained about something that night. My husband enjoyed his steak so that was good. It was very disappointing, making me have second thoughts about trying it again

We got seating on a Sunday! Just in time before rush came in. The staff were super friendly. Shout out to Jennifer for being our lovely waitress. We got the Brie as an appetizer and it didn't disappoint. The steak on the other hand, was just alright. We both ordered our steaks medium rare. One came out over cooked and one came out undercooked. For dessert we ordered the chocolate cake and it was one of the best I've had in Buffalo. It was HUGE. Be prepared to share and take home!

Food was hohum. Mesclun salad lacked a dressing of any sort. Thank goodness there was Gorgonzola cheese on it to make it edible. The pasta bolognese should have been fabulous but lukewarm pasta and sauce can never be good. The massive dollop of ricotta cheese made no sense to this dish. Let's talk about the bread. I've never been as underwhelmed by bread and butter in my life. Yet Mother's managed to find the most flavorless bread ever. How is that possible?!? The artichoke Brie appetizer was cooked beyond any recognizable flavor!! I had to ask what it actually was because there was no taste! The place was nice and accommodating but food was a 3 out 10 at best.

I was there for the first time with a larger group. We had called ahead for seating and actually ended up with a couple less people, which ended up working out well because we were able to sit at one large table outside under the gazebo. Our server Jen was really fun! She was running all over, but I don't remember ever wanting for anything or trying to find her, so that's always good :) I had been looking at the menu for about a week trying to decide between swordfish or scallops. I went with the swordfish and I'm happy I did. It was amazing! Nice size cut, cooked perfectly. Came with asparagus which I really like, and they did a great job with that! Soft but had a snap to it, it was good. The rice I had with mine was amazing. We had a wide range of dishes around the table so I was able to see quite a bit. Everyone really enjoyed their food, and didn't hear any complaints. We ordered a bunch of appetizers as well, they were all really good. The atmosphere was fun, it was a little windy and we had a cover from the gazebo that was causing some issues, but our server figured it out so no worry. :) I'll go back again when I visit, thanks for the food and fun atmosphere!

    Meatloaf

This place is fantastic! Ordered the Littleneck Clams off the Specials Menu- probably the best I've ever had! Then ordered the Meatloaf Dinner & all I can say is WOW! So good! The service was top notch! MJ was so kind & helpful & went above & beyond to give us a great experience. Will definitely be returning here when I visit Buffalo.

I was told those are only available during brunch -- totally fine, I get that certain specials have set times. However, I then tried to order the martini flight that was listed on the drink menu and was told that was seasonal and no longer available. That was a bit confusing, especially since it hadn't been removed. I also wasn't offered any alternative flavors or suggestions, which felt like a missed opportunity. I ended up ordering their standard espresso martini -- which they seem to pride themselves on -- but unfortunately it tasted burnt. It also appeared that the espresso isn't made fresh, as there was a bottle of espresso sitting on the bar. For a cocktail that really depends on quality espresso, that was disappointing. However my friend did try another cocktail off their drink menu and it was delicious. To finish our visit, I waited about 10 minutes just to get my check while the bartender was engaged in conversation with other bartenders. It made the experience feel inattentive and frustrating. The space itself has a cool vibe, but overall the experience fell short of expectations. I'd love to see more consistency between the menu, social media, and what's actually available, fresher preparation for a cocktail they promote so heavily, and more attentiveness at the bar.

I'll start off by saying that service was superb. Hailey, the bartender/server, was very sweet…read moreand attentive. The reason for the poor rating was the food. Bao buns: My mom ordered these because they were labeled GF, but she definitely should have mentioned that she has an intolerance to gluten, because the add on of "salt & pepper shrimp" is not GF (not indicated on menu). The shrimp had a crispy flour coating. Also the buns were much smaller than anticipated, so this appetizer does not work for a filling meal. Falley burger: Description sounded fantastic with the homemade chip dip and salt & pepper chips, but unfortunately both lacked in flavor. I honestly couldn't taste either and the chips were more of greasy potato slices. I'm not much of a pickle fan, but I'm glad they were on the burger to give it some taste. On a good note, there were plenty of fries. It was sad to see this place dead on a Thursday evening. We were the only ones dining in, had a few take-outs come through. They do have food/drink specials throughout the week and the cocktail drink menu looks fun. Maybe we just ordered the wrong things or perhaps it was an off-day in the kitchen.

I honestly can't remember the last time I was able to order breakfast at a restaurant. While visiting Buffalo with my boyfriend in November 2025, his college friend spent the morning taking us to several restaurants trying to find a place where I could safely eat. After striking out everywhere else, Betty's was our last stop--and what a blessing it was! Alice, our host, was warm, friendly, attentive, and genuinely cared about making sure my food allergies were handled safely. I was able to order a bacon, "egg" and avocado sandwich made to accommodate my allergies, and it was incredible. I hadn't enjoyed a breakfast sandwich from a restaurant in over a decade! It was so delicious that I went back again before leaving Buffalo and even ordered another sandwich to take home. For anyone living with food allergies, you know how rare it is to find a restaurant that truly understands safe food preparation while still serving amazing food. I hosted a dinner for twenty (board members and their guests) and was especially impressed by the catering manager, who patiently guided me through the many decisions involved in planning the event and personally welcomed me on the evening of the dinner. The waitstaff were attentive and seemed to anticipate our needs, and the private dining room was both relaxing and quiet. We chose the "King's Table," which allowed all twenty guests to sit together around one large table. The room and table settings were beautiful, creating an elegant yet comfortable atmosphere. The event menu allowed me to select three salads, three entrées, and two desserts for our guests. Printed menus were placed at every setting, offering a gracious welcome and making the ordering process easy and efficient. I heard from many guests that their meals were excellent. I especially enjoyed the beet salad with goat cheese and the crème brûlée cheesecake. My filet mignon, unfortunately, was tougher than I had expected. The pecan-crusted salmon looked marvelous, and I found myself wishing I had chosen it instead. The pricing was also extremely reasonable for the quality of the setting, service, and overall experience. Each dinner was $85 and included a salad, entrée, and dessert.
