We wanted to spurge on one nice restaurant after a 4 day hiking trip at Havasu, this was going to be great since we ate packaged freezed dry food the last few days. We were excited to try some Chinese dishes with a modern touch according to the menu that's what it looked like at least. We got the signature aged bbq pork which came out room temperature and unimpressive. The lobster was what we compared to a course during an Asian wedding. It wasn't bad but also wasn't anything special. We also decided to order a veggie dish and sadly we chose green beans based on our waiters suggestion and it was not good, they were so lifeless and didn't have any particular taste besides soy sauce. We also wanted to try something with duck in it but didn't want to get a whole duck cause we for sure would not finish it since there were only two of us. The waiter suggested the fried leftover pieces. This dish was ooookay but then again nothing special. I was more disappointed because I wanted to try an upscale Chinese restaurant with some innovative food. I mean, we spent $300, I was hoping for something more then my local Chinese BBQ place. Lastly, the restaurant's aesthetic is gorgeous, furnishing, lighting, all very unique and eye pleasing. But then the food came out and it was just spattered on the plate, it made me sad looking at it because I didn't feel anyone cared what they were cooking, they just wanted it out the kitchen. I've never had masago in fried rice before, which was a nice taste. Although I do wish the rice had a bit more crab. Overall though, taste was good! Now to the Peking duck. MY GOODNESS!!! We were warned it would take like 40 min to prepare when ordered but we didn't care. It's worth the wait! The reason why, is because they cook the duck slowly, rather than just throwing it in the fryer like most regular Chinese places. And because of this, it also leads the duck to be nice and juicy on the inside still. It truly was. Best duck ever. Crispy skin on the outside, juicy meat on the inside. So much meat! Great sauces on the side and thin wraps with sliced veggies to put it all together. The flavor was SPECTACULAR!!!! It also was a nice start with cutting the skin first and giving us brown sugar to dip it in. I have never done that before, but damn was it tasty. The Peking duck is WORTH IT! Lastly the ice cream for dessert was a nice, light, sweet finish. Not heavy, perfect sweetness, and lovely crunch from the dried strawberries. Although we tried a bunch of stuff here I think my favorite thing was the cucumber appetizer and some fried rice that had egg roe in it that isn't pictured. Come to think about it, all the stuff I liked were the boring foods, but elevated. The Peking duck was great but I'm more of an roast duck gal. The cholesterol-heavy-stroke-inducing type of duck you get from up the street on spring mountain. Make sure you tell them ahead of time if you want to order the Peking duck because it's limited and it's actually a very labor intensive dish to make. At least that's what the documentary on YouTube says. The soup dumplings were very good and always a staple at the table. It's just a hard set rule. I came here last month with family for my sister's graduation. I ordered the Kobe meat. It was good but the wow factor wasn't comparable like the one I had in Japan when I was actually in Kobe. I also was tad confused. I was curious as to why a Chinese establishment sells Kobe beef. After doing some research just to kill my curiosity, apologies to the chef but I'm going to have dock points from Mott 32 for promoting "Kobe Beef Japanese A5+" in their menu. Came here tonight with a group of 4. The food was great! Duck is absolutely divine. Service was a little weird. After seating is, the host told us we couldn't take our masks off until we were served a drink or food. Not what any other place in Vegas has said this weekend... Our server was really distracted. After she greeted us, it took at least 15 minutes for her to take our drink order and another 10 for them to be delivered. She didn't write anything down when we ordered food - forgot to put 3 of our dishes in until she was reminded and the dishes weren't coursed properly. Our entrees came without the requested sides of rice and we had to wait another 5-10 min to flag her down to get them. While there was no dim sum cart, it was small shareable plates with many familiar dishes. The acorn-fed pork was great and the schezhuan fried chicken was a reason to go in itself. The pork buns were a highlight. Although I love Xiao long Bao, these did not stand out. We did some rice and vegetables too as well as noodles. Now lets talk about the food! Idk why some people wrote some negative reviews about this place as far as quality of the food. It was amazingly delicious! We decided to come here on a whim so I didn't know what to expect. I wasn't really in the mood for an alcoholic beverage so our waitress recommended the Motttails while we looked over the menu. I got the Jasmine Cooler and Rose Garden, both were really good. Dinner started off with the Shanghainese soup dumplings. The dough was just the right amount of thickness. It's the best I've had in a while and totally hit the spot. Next came the sauteed string beans with diced Australian Waygu. Now if you're just looking for a veggie dish, the green beans were good. If you're considering it due to the allure of the diced Waygu, don't. It's more like minced meat bits. When I first saw the plate, I was wondering what those brown bits were. The wok fried lobster in ginger and scallion was delicious! The lobster meat was sweet and cooked just right. My dining companion is allergic so I ate the whole plate to myself. No regrets. Now, the poach fish fillet in Szechuan pepper broth was my favorite dish of the night! It's exactly what it sounds like. Just make sure to avoid the actual Szechuan peppercorns because a bite of that can seriously ruin your evening. Our final item was the Apple Wood Peking duck. Presentation and delivery was beautiful but sadly the duck fell a bit short. The skin wasn't very crispy. Given that this dish is eaten primarily for the skin, I was a bit disappointed. However, the meat was tender and juicy so not bad but not exactly worth the price. We finished dinner off with Mango Pomelo dessert. It was a super refreshing end to the meal. After 10 minutes of argument the person on the front desk found our reservation. Our reservation was for 9.00 we were seated at 9.45. We were instantly told the kitchen is closing and had to order fast. Half the items on the menu were not available The place we were seated there was a group so loud next to us that we could not hear anything. So I'd like to start this off by saying that I work in the restaurant industry and have been doing so for 18 years. With that being said l, I am one of the most difficult people to help in a restaurant, and on top of that I am dairy, gluten, meat and egg free. Starting at the front of the restaurant there was no shortage of greetings from the staff as me, my husband and friend entered. The decor is fantastic throughout the whole restaurant and it's different room to room. We sat in a booth in the main dining room. Courtney was our server and she was so friendly and accommodating especially when It came down to my dietary restrictions. Precious, the manager, was also there to make sure everything went perfectly and made many top notch recommendations. I feel the most spoiled because my husband and friend can eat anything so any time we go somewhere it's me that's the most difficult. They have a vegan, vegetarian and gluten free menu. My experience was so amazing I didn't even have time to take photos and I'm really wishing I did. This restaurant is good for groups, special occasions and anything you can throw at them. The architecture in this place is so stunning! Such a beautiful restaurant and bar. We sat at the bar and made friends with the bartender (shoutout to Andrew for taking great care of us all night). I'm the biggest sucker for a craft cocktail and he recommended the Forbidden Rose. Not only was it gorgeous, but it tasted better than it looked! The eggs give it such a creamy texture and the chili adds a nice little kick if you're in to that sorta thing (I definitely am). We also had some dim sum and egg rolls that were out of this world. Exceptional Hong Kong cuisine brought to Vegas, I felt as if i was in Lan Kwai Fong or Causeway Bay. The ambiance and decor from the entrance and bar to the main dining room sets the tone. kyle the sommelier was terrific explaining what he was serving with the fruits and aromas we started off with a rose sparkling followed by a red merlot. Our severs Ashley and Kenneth described every course and cleared plates immediately very knowledgeable of the menu and what they were serving. We tried the mushroom lettuce wraps, air dried wagyu beef, suimai, soup dumplings, and pork buns for appetizers. For the main course the pecking deck is a must exactly 42 days old and cooked to perfection And served table side by the chef. The pancake rolls put a twist from the normal bao buns but was very good. For dessert we tried the mocha forest which was a gelato sorbet with chocolate green bamboo sticks that were edible. The manager checked on our table a few times and spoke more about each dish I believe his name was Nathan.. exceptional. I wish I could leave a better review since the service was good. Unfortunately, the food did not deliver. I love the idea how more Chinese places are starting to take a modern twist to the food. Some items we had: Jasmine smoked rib 2/5 The jasmine was a really great twist, but I personally did not like the marinade on the rib. It felt super powdery and overly sweet. Iberco charsiu 1/5 I've have many charsiu and this one is the worst so far. They used the same marinade as the ribs (I obviously did not like). You're better off going to Cheung hing in sf for their char siu, it's cheaper and it tastes better. Hot and sour soup 4/5 I thought the soup was quite tasty, full of flavor which a perfect about of spicy ness. Crispy air dried angus beef 3/5 Traditional iberco soup dumplings 4/5 Hot and sour iberco soup dumplings 4/5 Soft quail egg iberco truffle siu Mai 5/5 Australian wagyu beef puff 2/5 Ok they made this really well. The meat the very tender, the puff it self was very crispy and perfectly made. So why 2/5? Because when biting into this item, all you get is literally the puff. They skimp so much on the filling (probably because it's wagyu), you barely can taste any filling inside. Pecking duck 2/5 The main dish that we have all been waiting for. The main entree, the Peking duck. It was finally here, they briefly allowed us to take pictures of the duck before the chef started cutting it. As our waitress placed the crispy duck skin on the table, I was couldn't wait. As I tried the duck, I was so unpleased, underwhelmed, and unsatisfied. The duck was perfectly crisp, but the duck lacked SOO much in flavor. It tasted as if they just threw the duck into the making without any seasoning or marination process. What a shame.
