The Le Parisien Brie-Apple-Walnut at Moulin is a delicious combination of sweet and savory. Creamy Brie, crisp apple, and crunchy walnuts on a baguette.

I used to go to the Newport Beach location all the time. It was close to my office, so I went at least once a week to grab a quick, healthy lunch. My main takeaway back then was that the food was delicious, but the staff wasn't very friendly... haha. This time, I was visiting Laguna Beach with a friend and looking for a spot to have a light yet tasty meal, which brought us here. My friend was starving, so they ordered a sandwich and the roast chicken plate, while I got the scrambled eggs. To be honest, the prices aren't exactly cheap.First, we tried the Jambon-Beurre sandwich, which is made with jamón (ham) inside a baguette, and it was absolutely amazing. The baguette felt a bit hard at first, but as you chew, the rich, savory flavor really comes out--before I knew it, the whole sandwich was gone! The roast chicken plate was served incredibly fresh. The side potatoes were so hot and delicious they instantly put a happy smile on my face. Even though we ate the chicken a bit later because we were focused on the sandwich, steam was still rising from it!The scrambled egg dish I ordered came with a salad and sourdough bread, making it the perfect healthy meal. It was packed with plenty of mushrooms, and I was incredibly satisfied! Unfortunately, I was so busy eating that I forgot to take photos of the food, but their desserts are excellent too, so you should definitely check them out. Highly recommend! Oh, and all the staff members here were so incredibly friendly that it made the food taste even better

Cute small shop in the heart of Laguna. Just like their flag shop store, they do have everything you're looking for. They got pastries, cakes, sandwiches, crepes, breakfast, little shop, coffees and nice & friendly service. The store is very chic and spacious with both indoor and patio seating area. Unfortunately at the moment, the outdoor view is block by the construction so it's abit boring. Inside is nice and Europe vibe with plenty of Europe foods pics hanging on the walls and the baked goods smell. The foods are generally great, not too sweet and not too salty and heavy. Simply delish!

Today was my first time at Moulin Laguna Beach. I have been to their other locations and I'm happy to say that this location did not disappoint! The indoor restaurant is so cute and they also have a lovely patio as well. They have a lot of grab and go, premade items, as well as fresh cooked/hot meals as well. Plus, they have delicious bottled drinks and pasties made to perfection!

I'd been craving buttery pastries for weeks, and on Monday I happened to be in the area. I'd stopped by Forest Ave and realized Moulin was nearby too! I've been to the Newport location maybe three or four times, so I'm pretty familiar with their pastries. I was excited to finally visit the Laguna Beach spot. It's definitely smaller than Newport, but as long as they have the pastries, I'm happy. Everything in the case looked incredible--I honestly wanted to try them all. I settled on a butter croissant, a pain au chocolat, and a cannelle. Clearly, I wasn't holding back; the craving needed to be satisfied that day. My favorite was the cannelle--I could really taste the rum, and now I regret not grabbing five or six of them. Also, I'm very glad I went on a Monday... I can't imagine what parking is like on the weekend.

French Coffee and Pastry Shop Vibes with Pigeons. Moulin was Michelin Bib Gourmand and it has expanded into three locations: Newport Beach, Dana Point, and Laguna Beach. First tasted the French Pastries at a food event in Newport and I legit loved every bite! When I saw Moulin in Laguna Beach I had to pay a visit. This time I opted for something savory instead of sweet. Chicken Pesto Baguette. Definitely enjoyed the quality ingredients and the needed punch of the mustard to complement the baguette. Whether you are into people watching, drooling over their desserts, Moulin has a bit of everything with a French Twist: Crepe, Croissants, and Coffee! They also sell day old pastry in bags for $10, so naturally I grabbed a bag for the road :)

I Loved this place... the ladies behind the counter all speak French.... The menu is in French and English...I ordered a ham and cheese croissant....and a chocolate chip cookie... the croissant was flakey and buttery... the cookie was delicious too....... a walk up counter to order.... the staff is very attentive... they bring your food to the table... and come by often to check on you The restaurant is on a street with no driving or parking... blocked off for the restaurants...cute... Laguna Parking is issue... every thing is paid parking.... We parked on the street it is $6.00 per hour or you can do an all day parking for $25.00....

A great place for a Sunday morning. Coffee and mille feuille were delicious. Quick service with a beautiful French themed environment. The mille feuille was flaky, creamy, and crispy. The perfect amount of sugar too, as I don't usually eat desserts. A nice pastry with my black coffee.

    Smoked salmon sandwich, Americano, madeleine
    Haisa P.

The Americano was decent, nothing very special about it. They don't have flavors so you have to rely on honey or sugar packets that are provided. The sandwich was good, however, I personally wasn't the biggest fan of the bread texture. The madeleine was the best part, perfectly baked and the right amount of sweetness.

Everything was so fresh and delicious. I'm glad I got this ham egg and cheese croissant sandwich. I enjoy vegetables with my food, so the side salad was perfect to put into my sandwich. The restaurant has a cute European vibe. Friendly employees. Second time here. Would come again.

We really wanted to love this place but it just kept missing the mark. Overall, it wasn't a terrible lunch but too many issues that would prevent us from returning. Staff is all super friendly and helpful whether it's at the cashier or the busser, they were all great. We had a small group so we ordered a variety of items. The baguette sandwiches were a good size but the baguettes were dry, stale, and very hard to chew. Nothing like true Parisien style. The jambon fromage and saucisson had a good amount of filling but the lettuce in the jambon fromage doesn't make sense. No jambon sandwich in France has lettuce in it. The croque madame was solid. Nicely toasted and thick bread, perfectly cooked egg, it was cheesy, great ham, but the side salad was just subpar. Wilted lettuce and no actual "dressing" except for simple balsamic. Now for the pastries. The plain croissant was soft, chewy, and very mild in flavor. The issue seems to be they stack all the pastries in a small "container" like display so they all become soft on top of one another. The almond croissant was actually pretty good! Crunchy with a semi sweet almond paste. Thee Parisien Flan was a mix. The custard or "flan" filling was great, rich, and velvety. The crust was lacking. Very tough and dry, not flaky and crumbly as it should be. And the Almond tart was just a fail. It was oddly gummy, the almonds were burnt, and the crust was rock hard.

It was also veryyyyy hot inside, if you are heat sensitive I would not recommend going inside or at least if you do, to bring a fan and water. I wish there were more signs in front of the pasteries to say what they were, I think people asking questions about what everything was also slowed the line down. I got the empanada, chocolate coffee croissant, pop tart, and their savory croissant. Everything definitely would have been better warmed, but we were only asked if we wanted the empanada warmed. Also, the chocolate coffee croissant does not taste like chocolate at all. I would not recommend if you are looking for a chocolate pastry. I was very disappointed, it tasted like a sweet pastry with a hint of coffee. The rest were ok, the pop tart was filled with apples but I wish the apple flavor was stronger. The savory croissant and empanada were good but definitely needed to be warmed. Overall I had a very lackluster experience here and will most likely not be back.

I started with the Singe Germain, made with Monkey 47 Gin, St. Germain, crème de cassis, and lemon juice. This was easily one of the best cocktails I have ever had. It was so good that I ordered two more. My wife got the Rizière de Lychee, which seemed like their take on a lychee martini. The vanilla notes made it unique and really enjoyable, but we both agreed that the Singe Germain was the star cocktail of the night. One of our favorite appetizers at any restaurant is yellowtail crudo or hamachi, and Marché Moderne's version was incredible. The fish practically melted in our mouths, but the mango-yuzu-jalapeño sorbet on top was ridiculous. That sorbet could honestly be served as its own dish. Our only complaint was how quickly the whole thing disappeared. We also tried the grilled octopus petit plat. It leaned more Spanish than French to me, especially with the chorizo, and the potatoes and chorizo ended up being our favorite parts. We both tend to prefer cold appetizers over hot ones, so next time we will probably try the tataki instead, but the octopus was still very good. We ordered the bread as well. Despite all the reviews praising it, I thought it was good, but not necessarily life-changing. The real star was the butter with the big flakes of salt on top. For our mains, my wife ordered the Hokkaido scallops and I got the filet au poivre, essentially their steak frites. The steak frites was incredible. The sauce alone was enough reason to order the entire dish. The steak was cooked to a perfect medium rare, and the tableside presentation made it feel even more special. They first placed down the fries and salad, then brought over the steak in the sauce, transferred it onto the plate, and poured the sauce over the top. They asked whether I wanted sauce over the fries too, which was obviously an immediate yes. The fries were good, although I thought they could have used a little more salt. The salad surprised me the most. I originally assumed it was just there to fill out the plate, but the vinaigrette was fantastic and made it something I actually wanted to keep eating. My wife loved the scallops, which was not surprising because she is a huge scallop fan. The dish itself was somewhat bare, though. It was essentially a few scallops with sauce, so if we had not also been sharing the steak frites and several appetizers, I do not think it would have been enough for her as an entrée by itself. Lastly, we ordered the crème brûlée, and this might have been the best dish of the entire night. It came with berries and a hazelnut cake underneath. Because we were celebrating our anniversary, they wrote "Happy 5 Year Anniversary" in chocolate ganache next to it, which paired ridiculously well with the crème brûlée. That little detail also perfectly summarizes the service. Our server answered every question I had about the menu, asked what we were celebrating, recommended the incredible Singe Germain, and made us feel completely at home. Another gentleman came by to talk with us, and we casually mentioned that it was our fifth anniversary. They did not just remember that it was an anniversary. They remembered that it was five years and included that specific detail on our dessert plate. That extra bit of thoughtfulness meant a lot to us. My only small disappointment was the seating. I had heard that one side of the restaurant has a large window where you can watch the chefs cook, but we were seated closer to the bar and could not see it. It did not hurt the meal, but next time I would love to request a table on the kitchen side. My wife and I have eaten at Michelin-starred restaurants from California to New York City, including everything from one to three stars, and Marché Moderne has the makings of something truly special. The food was excellent, but the service and hospitality took the entire experience to another level. Overall, this was about a 4.7 out of 5 for us. We will absolutely be back, and I cannot believe it took us five years to finally come here.
