This is probably the best pizza in Mount Dora. I'm a big fan of the Vesuvio Regular pizza here - which is a white pizza with fresh tomatoes with garlic and herbs. The diced tomatoes are added before it goes into the oven, so they come out soft and just right. Their staff executes it consistently the same each and every time - it looks near identical every time I lift up the top of the pizza box. I have only ever ordered for pick-up, but this place stays busy with nearly every table full every night of the week. Pick-up service is always nice and efficient, despite the somewhat chaotic atmosphere and 5-6 employees crammed into a 8' x 8' work space! I'd recommend arriving 5 minutes before the time they give you as an estimate when your order will be ready though, as they just keep completed orders on top of their oven and things can get cold quickly. I have also had the garlic knots and garlic cheese bread, but I would recommend passing on both. The garlic knots are claimed by some to be life-changing, so I tried them several times and every time they were undercooked and underwhelming. The garlic cheese bread is thin bread with melted mozzarella - not worth the menu price in my opinion. Stick to the pizza and salads! read more

Ordered pizza deluxe for pick up. This was cheapest way to order a pizza with multiple toppings. It was a heavy pizza with doughy crust, I prefer more crispness to support the toppings. Not much flavor to the sauce. Doubtful I'll order it again. read more

Ok let's start with the positive... the food was delicious! The sauce was so good on the pizza! The negative: the female servers and cashier girl were beyond rude, No they were worse than rude they were disrespectful to me and my family and upset my mother whom just lost her husband to the point of tears. I've never been treated so poorly at a restaurant in my life. I witnessed them talking about us loudly and my food was taken away from me while I was still taking a bite from my plate. For those that work here reading this.. you should be ashamed of yourselves you are in the customer service business, the "service industry" if you don't like to make others feel welcome and good while they are eating at the restaurant that you miserably work at than maybe you should find a new job. Well, I've lived in NY for over 50 years and you know how us New Yorkers are about pizza! We moved to Florida over two years ago and have had a hard time finding a good place to have pizza. I was working in Mt. Dora and had stopped in to have a slice, and to my surprise the place was packed. It's was a pleasant surprise because that tells me that the food must be good, and in fact it was. It was so good, I returned a few weeks later and brought my family with me. We didn't have the pizza but it looked delicious. We opted for something healthy after the hurricane since we ate nothing but junk for a week. We ordered the Greek salad and it was so good. It was huge! We were hungry so we smashed it between two people but with anything else it could've easily fed up to 4. My favorite thing was the garlic cheese knots. Omg... homemade garlic knots downed in garlic and butter and Parmesan. Pretty sure I ate at least four. So much for being healthy. I have been going here for at 26 years, called and ordered two Ziti baked diners last night. The guy asked what I wanted on it, meat sauce or meatballs. I thought he was joking. I told him meat sauce. I mean every time I ordered in the past, I always got the same thing , tons of cheese, meat sauce, ziti pasta. I got home and it had no cheese on it. $10 a meal for ziti pasta and meat sauce. Very disappointing. I called back but they were closed. I did not think I actually had to tell the guy every ingredient to put in the dish. Be very specific when you call in from now on, must be new management or new staff. We drove back and forth where this place should have been, according to Yelp and my iphone. Finally we called the place and got directions (sort of) but the guy didn't seem to know how to get from 441 to their place. Finally, finally we found the it! Mount Dora Pizza and Subs is in a dilapidated strip center on the western side of Mt. Dora, off of old US 441. The place is small and was packed- a good sign. The service was pretty bad though, not only slow but somewhat rude. The waitress practically threw a straw at me as she ran away and when my hubby asked what beers they had she didn't say a word but stuck her finger on the menu he was holding to show him. She was busy and did get a little better as the meal went on but she totally cost the place a star. We ordered a large pizza and cheese bread. The bread was good and garlicky but was basically just bread with a slice or two of cheese melted on top. The pizza was decent. The sauce and mushrooms were both good but I thought the sausage was bland. Not by far the best pizza I've had. After two 5 star reviews maybe we just had too high of expectations. read more

Yes! I think I finally found a worthy Italian restaurant to go to in this town. I'm not sure how I've been out here for a year and never tried this place but I'm so glad I did. I had the antipasto for one and it was so good I'm gonna go back and get another one today. It was the perfect size, almost too big for one person. Loaded with meat and cheese and olives. The oil and vinegar made the taste even better. Almost like eating an antipasto from up north. I also had the Italian sub which is basically the same as the salad just in sub form. Let me tell you, that sucker was LOADED with meat and cheese and soaked to the core with oil and vinegar, the way a proper Italian sub should be. It was so much I couldn't even finish it. Excellent pizza, very good service. This is some of the best pizza every time we come here. Great salads, sub's and some of the best Italian wedding soup I've had. Like most other pizza places, especially here in Florida, the crust underneath was a little soggy. Its something I've learned to accept. Maybe it has something to do with altitude. They have a decent wine and beer selection. Better than the usual. The Kona big wave was the special this month. Excellent refreshing beer. Anybody that can't enjoy this place and their food has something wrong with them. Definitely 4 star. Not even close to being less than a 3.
