My wife and I ate here last night. We had seen good reviews so we thought we should give it a try. We each had a bottle of Miller Lite, as we don't like Bud, which they have on draft. To my surprise they brought us two cold bottles with two frosty mugs to pour them into, which was great and reasonably priced. Then they brought us a small garden salad which was easily enough to share ($4.75) and creamy italian dressing. Their salad was good, using only shredded iceberg lettuce instead of any darker greens, two large slices of tomato on to, white onions instead of red (which I prefer), but they did have a couple of large pieces of pimento and two jalapeño peppers to give it some kick. Then they brought us our garlic rolls which were fresh and delicious and for some reason not as easy to find as in south Florida. And then the pizza, large 16" pizza with extra onions and mushrooms. When I first saw it, it was steaming hot which was great and then we waited a minute or so and it cooled enough to eat. I am still looking for a pizza place that uses those delicious stringy white onions for a topping but not here - just cut up white onions. If anyone knows of one, please let me know. There were plenty of onions and plenty of mushrooms and what made the chopped white onions taste even better was the very fresh, generous and tasty cheese on the pizza. My wife said it could have used a little more sauce, which is true, but it tasted great. I have to say all the food was very fresh as if you had it in your own home which really added to the experience. The waitress was friendly and was even nice enough to let us know that the small salad was enough for two to share. In fact, she suggested 4 garlic rolls (which was probably right), but I ordered a dozen, because a dozen for $6.00 was a good deal. We ended up getting so full from the salad and garlic rolls that we still had almost a half a pizza and 7 garlic rolls to take home. Another meal - cool! The place was busy. It looked like only a couple of waitresses but they were both very nice and the other waitress saw our's was busy and got the check for me at the end. read more

was not pleased with bill after eating, notice you are forced to order a diner portion after 3 pm. We arrived at 3:52pm And if you order the lunch portion they dont tell you until the end, figured worst case I would be spending 20-35 dollars for a late lunch with my girlfriend, we asked the portion size of the lunch menu chicken Parm ($12) we spent $50 after tipping, not one to make a hard time of anyones day but i left feeling scammed. food was amazing cant say I'll return because of the way it was handled. read more

Hole. in. the. wall. Yes, it sure is! But it's MY hole in the wall. It's fabulous, fresh food for ultra cheap prices. I've been going here for twenty years. The good hasn't changed a bit. It's not fine dining but any means. It is GREAT good. REALLY good pizza owned by a local family. It's one of those places where I always see people I know. Always. It's like the Mount Dora version of Cheers. The only bad part is it's been really crowded the last few visits. How is that possible?! It's in the middle of nowhere. Ahhhh, I love it. My husband and I wanted pizza so we found this place on yelp. The pizza reminded me of the kind I used to eat as a kid. We also ordered salads. Next time, I will be ordering the small Greek salad instead of the large. The salad was huge and I couldn't finish it but it was so good. We got take out so I can't comment on how the service is. My husband and I had to make a quick trip to a Doctor in Tavares and decided we really wanted pizza for lunch. We always check YELP to see what places have the best reviews. This place was definitely not a disappointment. The pizza was incredibly delicious! We had a 14" Vesuvio Special (Spinach, Feta Cheese, Mozzarella, Fresh Tomatoes and spices). The crust was thin just as we requested and they were not shy with the toppings. My husband and I also shared the Greek Salad (a small one which was perfect for the two of us). The salad was very good but I think they may have put an entire cut up onion on it! This is a very small older establishment that really knows what they are doing when it comes to great pizza! Service was good and they were busy. They are practicing social distancing, wearing masks and gloves (we felt safe). The only reason I didn't give it 5 stars was the place really needs a good cleaning especially the walls and the bathrooms need quite a bit of TLC! Anytime we go to Mt. Dora and want pizza we will definitely be going to Mt. Dora Pizza & Subs! read more

This place has been in business forever. My husband is 47 and went here as a kid. He's Italian and hard to please but the meatballs here are the real deal. All their pasta and sauces are authentic. I've never gotten bad food here. read more

I would highly recommend you stay AWAY from Mt Dora Pizza and Subs. Their customer service is the worst ever. They made a mistake and refused to own the mistake. Instead the manager said it was my fault. He somehow got black Pepper mixed up with black olives?? Huh, really.. They refuse to replace the sub they made the mistake on. We went here because there were decent yelp reviews and some locals recommended it. Yikes! Maybe I shouldn't have used the restroom before my meal because after seeing how absolutely disgusting the it was I couldn't eat more than a bite without being really grossed out, so this review is more on the cleanlieness of the restaurant than how the food tastes. The whole perimeter of the bathroom floor was covered with a thick black film. It looked like the bathroom hadn't been cleaned in a very long time, or if it had, someone just ran a dirty, wet, mop over it. After seeing how this establishment allows their restroom to look, it made me very afraid of the conditions in which they store/prepare food. read more

I recently found out that they made gluten free pizza, thought I would give it a try, Not Good, and way too pricey 17.00 for a small 10 inch" I have found a frozen pizza in Wallmart for 10.00 that is way better. All their other food is great just do not get the gluten free. read more

I can only imagine that the people leaving these reviews have never really had good pizza. This pizza is only second to hoss's pizza as the #1 worst. I have tried it twice and both times the crust was undercooked, hardly no sauce and too much imitation cheese. As far as MD goes there are no decent pizza places that I have found. read more

well I have not been to the place itself but I was hungry one day and asked my sister to bring me home a sub sandwich of the same sort that she was getting..... I was starving I could not wait for the sub to get here I was so hungry.... I don't know what the sub was called but it had ham capicola provolone cheese and some raw onion and my gosh did it hit the spot I can't wait to go there myself and I'll update this!! 4* only because I did not go there myself but will definitely go see for myself and will inform you of staff cleanliness and so on. read more

Just moved to Mount Dora and discovered this little place. I guess they have been here for years. The strip center they are located in is not the best but the pizza helps overcome the outside appearance. Regular locals know this too. Dinner time is always packed. Sometimes service lacks a little but I think it's only do to the amount of food they make and people they serve. I've only eaten pizza and highly recommend it. You can only dine in or take out. There is no delivery. The ground sausage with pepperoni is an awesome combination here. read more

The food is the best you will find of its kind anywhere in the area. The place is always packed. They do a great job handling the constant flow of patrons. The only problem I have seen, and I didn't want to take a star away because it was extremely busy, was the handling of the used dishes, silverware, etc. The staff was running out of places to put the used items and seemed to be piling them on carts in the walkway towards the restroom. That's probably not the best place to be seated! Otherwise, the food is consistent, fresh and garlicky. If you like authentic Italian, get the garlic rolls (knots). They are dripping with garlic and olive oil. So yummy! They also fill your drinks as many times as needed and will give you a to-go lid and final refill as well. That's a nice touch.
