There were 2 steps up into room from the hallway after entering the room and then the same steps from the room to the bathroom. Parking spots right in front of schoolhouse. The rooms are well appointed and comfortable. Our favorites are the king rooms in the schoolhouse. The Lafayette room for example. The room is quite large, with a king bed, a cute balcony and beautiful view of the grounds. The Ashby Inn has a pretty incredible restaurant. I'm shocked it doesn't have a Michelin star. We had the tasting menu this weekend and it was fantastic!! Every dish was plated beautifully. And even more delicious. Some standouts were the tuna tartare, crispy branzino and amazing mousse desserts. Breakfast is included and it's very good as well. They serve their amazing croissants with fruit and your entree. I like the Full Ashby because you get a bit of everything - eggs, potatoes, bacon and veggies. It's pricey for sure, which is why I see an older clientele when we go, but worth every penny!!

We stopped in, getting a couple half sandwiches and some sides. I opted for a cup of their beef chili as my side and it was EXCELLENT! Very tasty, fresh ingredients, and nicely spiced. I feel like the majority of the servers are very young and might not have the training, nor experience to understand what true service is, not just taking orders and bringing food. The menu was nice. We liked their "Everyday is Sunday" section of the menu, so we tried 2 orders (4 persons) of the pork chop tomahawk and 1 order (2 persons) of the Côte de Boeuf. We started with their Scotch Egg - WOW! Really flavorful with a great texture, inside and out. Definitely a very nice way to start. Cocktails and wine were a hit here for sure! Especially Jarad's G&T, which we got a couple of. Main dishes were great! Plenty of food too!! The spices on the crust of the porkchop tomahawk were so tasty and the temperature was spot-on! The steak in the Côte de Boeuf was incredible! Perfectly seasoned and at that absolute perfect temperature too! The carrots that came with this were very nicely done, but the potatoes stole the show! This dish came with OUTSTANDING Fondant potatoes... They had a great, smokey flavor to them, as if they were basted in pork fat. The meat was perfectly textured and flavored. Overall - While this is no longer the Hunter's Head that many came to know, love, and enjoy, I feel they're doing a decent job here. I'll definitely return, as I want to try their fish & chips!
