I ordered a pizza and cheese sticks last night. I had ordered my cheese sticks with marinara sauce, but I got ranch instead. Of course, we're all human, mistakes happen. I called the store to see if there was anything they could do, it was a minimal mistake either way so no big deal. But the lady was very nice when I called and offered to deliver the missing sauces, not only that but they gave me extra. The delivery guy was very nice as well. People have such unrealistic expectations of this pizza chain. I've had their supreme pizza 3 times now and it hits the spot every dam time. You can't be getting pizza here expecting Sicilian thin crust from a wood fired oven. It's a standard crust, lots of toppings, lots of guilt kind of pizza. I have ordered from this location three or four times now, previously I had the pizzas delivered but decided to pick up to save a bit and to avoid the "promised time" which they never deliver by and is never explained. They send out coupons constantly, we decided to get two two topping pizzas for $36.99 or whatever it shows on the coupon. I go in to pay and give the coupon, they tell me the coupon only takes off $4 and the total will be $48. I look at the fine print and that is not the case, it just shows the listed price so I think insist they honor that. He tells me the best he can do is $39 by scanning some other coupon. I tell him that's not how this works, and insist they simply override the amount and honor the coupon they sent. He says he can't do that, which if you have ever worked retail you know is not true. I pay the $39 and leave not wanting to waste my time with it. Pizza tastes fine, same as any mountain mikes. Don't expect them to hit promise times on delivery or honor their own coupons apparently? read more

Delivery has gone to garbage. Delivery drivers are incompetent and rude. The manager cant be bothered to fix constant issues from the last few orders amd we will never, NEVER, call them or go in to eat there again. Our pizza that arrived tonight was cut so thin that they were 2 fingers wide and was skimpy with toppings. They were amazing for the first few years but nowadays this location gives no rats behind how they treat their customers and god forbid you live in an apartment building, cuz the drivers will expect you to come outside. So, we're ridiculously broke right now. Like, checking our bank account 3 times a day to see if we got that goddamn economic stimulus deposit yet broke. Or, how long can we keep this wet diaper on the baby? And can this toilet paper be reused? OK, slight exaggeration, but you get the point. But we really, really needed to get out of the house, and lo and behold, it's buffet night at the new Mountain Mike's! So we trek down there and order the buffet for 2 ($6.75 each) and a pitcher of Hefeweizen for $9 (because no matter how broke we are, there's always gotta be beer). Is it great pizza? Of course not. It's a little too doughy, and the toppings aren't the best. But come on, it's dough, cheese, and meat. In my book "bad pizza" is an oxymoron. And in contrast to the person who said the pizzas came out really slowly, last night it seemed every time I turned around there was something new. The salad bar was kinda lame, but not really a surprise. I think my favorite part was the greasy, cinammon-sugary dessert pizza. MMM. . . . I think this will be our new plan: walk down to Mountain Mike's (because a three block walk will help offset the pizza calories. ha), gorge our selves on mediocre yet tasty pizza, waddle home, collapse on the couch and moan about how full we are. I'm gonna update with a 1 star bump for the following reasons: Again, I stress, their pizza really is awesome. Compared to other 'Chain' pizza joints, this is up there with the best of the best- probably better than Round Table. The coupon deals are also awesome. I still think their original menu prices are high, but with coupons you can get 2 Medium 2 toppings for $20.99; That's a deal. A 1 Medium 1 topping for $9.99; That's a deal, almost all the coupons you receive from this place in the mail and in store are great deals that cancel out the high menu prices... The wait time for a pick-up pizza is 10-15 minutes. Yesterday, ON SUPER BOWL SUNDAY, i order three pizzas from here and they were all ready for me to pick up in less than 15 minutes. How amazing is that? And lastly, if you don't eat there, you don't have to experience the 'heebee geebees' I talked about in my previous review... These guys are SUCK. The WORST experience in any pizza place in the island. I am not that picky and i did even have a time to try Digirno's pizza. But Mountain Mike pizza is way below substandard than frozen pizza. It is about all: quality, customer service,and their communication, everything. Well, 3 1/2 stars for the pizza. My godson bought a car today in Alameda. This place was right next door, and we figured what the hell ... might as well bring some home. It was standard pizza, nothing to really go out of my way to get. We ordered the Everest, which is a regular combo. We also ordered a pepperoni pizza for the kids. Two 20" pizza's and some garlic bread came up to $66. According to the menu, there is an all you can eat buffet on Wednesday night for about $7. They also have a buffet lunch every weekday. Like I said ... nothing special. It can be compared to a bit above Round Table. Sizes of the pies are pretty generous. Service can be VERY slow. Parking lot is on the side. read more

Thanks for the memories - I loved going to Mountain Mike's Pizzza when I was young (in San Jose). I have fond memories of spending hours in the arcade, and the pizza was oh so delish! Eating here with a co-worker of mine after telling her about how good the pizza is, and how clean it is, made me eat my words. The quality of pizza is horrible, overly greasy, fountain soda's have too much syrup, and the staff is not friendly. In addition the decor is in major need of a redo. read more

While I have been here twice at the very most in the past, my recent visit completely removes any kind of satisfaction I previously had. Nearly two years ago was my last trip in, and last week's experience was rudely appalling. Food was mediocre as it tasted dried out and stuck under a heat lamp for several hours. The biggest shortfall was the unprofessional courtesy of all the employees there. I have never been in any kind of business where the workers would laugh and make jokes about a customer. Corporate offices, I hope you're reading this. The Alameda location needs to be shut down because they are driving your customers away with rude, dishonest, and downright distasteful service. I had two firsts here: 1) First time eating at a Mountain Mike's, and 2) First time eating at a pizza buffet! I'm a pizza and buffet connoisseur so it's pretty amazing how I've made it this far in life and still haven't experienced either of the aforementioned. Wait, does this mean my life is going to end soon?! The pizza buffet here is only offered on Wednesday evenings and weekday lunch 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. We just happened to show up at 1:58 p.m.... Whew!! For only $5.50, it's all-you-can-eat at the pizza and salad bar, excluding soda. It's just a tad more expensive for the pizza buffet on Wednesday nights. The salad bar wasn't that great, but since my palate and stomach like a good challenge, I went for the iceberg lettuce, shredded jack cheese, ranch, pepperoncinis, and pasta salad. Nothing fantastic and nothing terrible. It was a plus to be able to pair pepperoncinis with the pizza. There wasn't much pizza left, let alone fresh pizza, when we got to it at the tail end of buffet time. Then again, it doesn't help that a bunch of teenage boys not only beat you to it, but have probably been there since 11 a.m. sharp. Pizza offerings included portions an appetizer garlic cheese bread, cheese, pepperoni, meat, supreme, and what looked like a cinnamon dessert pizza. After I finished my first three slices, I noticed that they brought out a freshly baked supreme pizza just for us three 1:58 p.m. stranglers! Okay, okay, no need to hold a gun to my head... I'll eat two more slices! Overall, the pizza buffet is pretty good at just $5.50. No need to waste your time at the salad bar; your caloric intake is better spent on the pizza. If you really want to find out how far you can stretch your $5.50, arrive as close to 11 a.m. as possible, take a longer lunch from work, and come with other marathon eaters. read more

I placed a Grub Hub take our order via Yelp. My pizza and salad were ready right when I arrived. The pizza was really good- thin crust artichoke and cheese. I was pleasantly surprised for a chain restaurant. The salad had garbanzo beans, carrots, black olives, tomatoes, cheese, spinach, and iceberg. Spend your money elsewhere! I WANTED to like this place but with all the pizza options on the island, I don't know how this business is going to survive. Our first experience provided us with a mediocre dinner, nothing horrible, but nothing outstanding. Thought we'd give it another try and couldn't believe the experience. Ordered two pizzas for us and some guests. After an hour I called because it was taking so long to deliver and it was the second delivery so I knew they had our location and phone number on file. Apparently, the operator and delivery person screwed up on both and it took 2 HOURS for the pizza to arrive! We live 5-minutes from the business!!! I called to complain and they offered me a discount but when the pizza arrived they only took a whole $2 off... and it was the original pizzas and they were COLD! Hunger and a need to feed my guests made me accept the food and pay the bill. My husband contacted corporate to complain about the franchise and they admitted there had been many complaints and they were sending trainers to improve the business. The offered us a $30 gift certificate as compensation and we pondered trying the business one more time but... the gift certificate never arrived!!!! This place has OKAY pizza, the beer prices are GOOD. Sam Adams or Widimer for $9 a pitcher (as of april 25th 2008) and non premium domestics for even less.. and that is a full pitcher... also pints are cheap. 12 to 2 pm weekdays they have a lunch special for about $6 right now (and wed. nights 6-8), all you can eat pizza (3 kinds and a desert pizza, it sounds crazy but it's kinda good actually) and all you can eat salad bar - drinks are separate (see "Beer" above!) unlimited refill soda is under $2 though if you're a soda drinker.. I placed my order and she told me that it would take 45min to an hour to receive it. An hour and 20 minutes later my pizza still hadn't arrived. We've ordered the Everest [everything] both times and there's been a good amount of toppings, sauce is kind of bland but not acidic either, and cooked just crispy enough on the ends. Customer service: Had to repeat everything when I called in, I guess the TV's too loud there. Picked up last time, no wait; got it delivered tonight -- quicker than the 30 minutes they said. Having eaten at several Mt Mikes, I expect the pizza to be pretty average. This was comparable to other Mt Mikes in pizza quality. The crust is pretty good for a breadier crust, which is not my favorite. Still a three for crust. The sauce is about a two. What makes Mt Mikes is the cheese, which I'd give a 4. The breadsticks here were not good; maybe a 1.5. For service, a 1 star is generous. The person at the register had Bluetooth earpiece for a phone on. At first he seemed to not notice me standing just a few steps right in front of Jim. Then he seemed annoyed to be interrupted. He took our drink order and it took a while to figure out they don't sell what I ordered (and I did ask before ordering if they had it; it seems they don't carry it, not just that they are out). Soon someone came from the back to check our order--he confused them, too. The pizza came pretty quickly, which maybe saves a 1 for service. When I went to get a box for leftovers, two people were behind the counter, both who ignored me for nearly a minute before acknowledging I was there. We won't be back. Maybe I would try he lunch buffet or delivery, but not eat in for supper. Even considering these other options I would only do in hopes that I caught them on a bad day our first visit. However, given the other reviews, it seems this is likely not far off the typical experience. This is definitely the worst managed Mt Mikes I've seen. The franchise really should intervene. This is an embarrassment to the chain. Had it been my only Mt Mikes experience I would not have tried others. Went to this location in my lunch break from downtown Oakland to the all you can eat pizza buffet. It was a total waste I time. There wasn't much of a variety, they did not keep the pizza hot and coming and the customer service wasn't that great. Received a call while I was placing order for correct location of a woman stating that they received a transfer order from Alameda and they confirmed the store location and claimed that they did not accept walk-in payment after 4pm so I confirmed my card on file to complete the transaction. Needless to say multiple charges occurred on my card 15 minutes later. I closed card immediately and called this place back, the man said how did I know it was them and I could hear the woman in the background telling him to tell me to call the bank and they'll give me my money it's not a big deal. When we walked in there were spider webbs and dust all over the windows seating area. But here's why I say don't eat here. So we ordered a large pizza and two drinks (nats near the foundation btw). I asked for a small container for ranch. As I was getting ready to get the ranch there was a huge dead horse fly laying in it. I immediately told the cashier he looked at me as if he didn't understand what I was saying so he told one of the workers in the back. She grabbed a spoon and just scooped the fly out.
