I hired Move Central for Nov. 14, 2024. First of all, movers took a two hour lunch, one of which I had to pay for at an hourly rate. They claimed they took one, but they did a disappearing act for an additional hour. I had to call and ask where they were!! They took over eight hours to move a 2+2 apartment to a location one mile away. I had to return to the old residence twice due to the workers leaving the screws for my bed AND my tv mounts. I had to search in the dark as the power had been turned off at the old apartment. Who doesn't put screws in a plastic bag? They left the power cord for my television at the old apartment on the floor. The bed screws were in the windowsill and the mount screws were all over the floor. I was unable to locate all of the mounts, so, I had to re-purchase new mounts. I tried to contact them to express my discontent and was told that someone would reach out. That was three days ago. I utilized Move Central in Nov 2023. I was moving to an apartment 1.1 miles away and in my intake call disclosed I had a dining room table, bed, and couch. The movers that came were wildly unprofessional. One vaped in my apartment. They also threatened me for a larger tip. I was told that I would receive a $200 fee for my dining room table since it was "heavy" (the table is small and has a circular top with a 48" diameter). Yet, during my intake call, the employee said my table would not incur extra fees. The movers "agreed" they would not charge me the heavy item fee if I tipped well... Almost all my plates and bowls were broken/shattered during the move. My glasses were shattered. My footstool went missing. My dining room table sustained damage. It was ridiculous how much damage everything sustained. I received $50 as a settlement. On top of that, it took them 20-30 minutes to get from my old apartment to my new apartment when they were driving only 1.1 miles during a weekday at 3PM (I live in downtown LA). Which I believe was them running up the time so I could be charged more. Overall I would never hire these people again. They are scammers and degenerates. read more

Lazy or stupid, or maybe both. I recently saw their truck blocking the entire street, even though there was plenty of space to park on the side of the street. Multiple people had to turn around and take another street, just because these guys decided that their time was more important and didn't want to spend a minute of their time to park properly on the side of the street and let traffic pass by normally (happened 9am Tuesday). There was a guy I asked why they didn't park properly... first, he said they were almost done, then he said there is no space - which if you look at the photo is clearly a lie. Lastly, he said they can't block driveways, which was also a lie since as seen in the photo there are no driveways to block, except the one for the house they were currently moving for. Overall, very rude and unpleasant exchange. Imagine if the people you hire are this lazy. Would you trust they will do the extra work to ensure your property is moved and secured safely? Ladies do not choose this company! I initially contacted Movers Central on July 4th and spoke with a representative named Ernesto. He informed me about a special rate: $160 per hour if paying by card and $140 per hour if paying by cash or Zelle. I mentioned I would likely need movers for three hours, and he quoted me around $470. There was no discussion of additional fees. I paid a $20 holding fee to secure my spot. On July 7th, Ernesto texted me to sign documentation to confirm my booking, which I did. However, on July 22nd, I received another message stating that my signature was not saved in their system. Concerned, I offered to come in person to sign, but Ernesto insisted I just sign again. The day before the move, on August 1st, a worker called to discuss the move and asked if I needed packing services. I reiterated what I told Ernesto, that only my bed and dresser needed disassembly. He then informed me of additional charges for materials and a $990 hold on my card for six hours of work. He also said if they had to use their materials it's an extra charge. He sent a list of items and bubble wrap was $200. This was not previously disclosed. I expressed my dissatisfaction but was told I could cancel, which was not feasible the day before the move. After that call at around 6pm I went to Home Depot and packed my place from 6:30pm to 8:30am when they arrived. The only place that needed packing was the kitchen cups, plates, and silverware. On the day of the move, the movers arrived, including one named Saul, who harassed me throughout the process. He began by making comments about my appearance, such as saying I was pretty and offering to pack my kitchen. Since I bought the materials, he said they would not charge me extra. They did charge and he spent the entire time double wrapping spoons and items that did not need to be delicately wrapped. Example, I brought my iron in the living room in a bucket that I planned to put in my car. He double wrapped the iron. Wasting time and adding it to their hourly fee. After 2 hours, I asked what's taking so long, I went in the kitchen and let him know to stop so we can leave. Prior to that, I was being sexually harassed the entire time. He asked if I was dating and if I would give him a chance, despite me telling him I was in a relationship. He then asked what I did for work, and when I mentioned I was a social media consultant, he insinuated I might be involved in adult entertainment, which I found highly inappropriate. Saul touched me inappropriately twice by placing his hand on my lower back, right above my butt, which made me very uncomfortable. Showing me a provocative barely clothed anime character on his phone. Despite my attempts to remain professional, I felt unsafe, especially since I was alone with two grown men in my home. After they moved my belongings to my new location and my sister arrived, the harassment continued. Saul repeatedly haggled us about visiting strip clubs, even after we told him multiple times that we were not interested. I was charged $1,612 and 77 cents, which included undisclosed fees and an overtime charge. My initial quote did not mention any of these additional fees. Furthermore, Saul showed me their time stopped at 7 hours and 30 mins which would not constitute overtime. The charges also did not match the agreed-upon hourly rate, and I was not informed about what constituted overtime. After doing research, I found the company on the BBB website. They're not verified and did not respond. I also went ahead and reported them to the the Bureau of Household Goods and Services. I am extremely disappointed with Movers Central's misleading practices and the harassment I endured. I requested a full refund due to the unprofessional behavior and hidden charges. No one should have to endure such treatment during a stressful move. This company is participating in Fraudulent Misrepresentation and I will proceed taking legal action should there be no consequences or ramifications for my experience. I used them 10 months ago and I would never use them again. They over charge you. They come to your house see and assess the job. Give you a price based on the assessment. Once the move start. They over charge you. They start the time of the job when their employees leave the office, not when they actually start working. Also the time will include the drive back and unload the furniture as I used their storage service. Time was given to me was way over the actual time they spent, and I realized the reason was to get them enough hours to charge over time fees. Which I don't know why a customer would pay for that ???? When the time came to get my furniture back. I had to pay to access my furniture. Which I had to pay because I didn't have any other option. After delivering my furniture with half of it damaged, I found another big charge on my credit card. When I called to ask what was that for, the answer was "that was the charge for the furniture we sold you". I guess they sold me my own furniture. That also took a full day to convince them that the furniture was actually mine in the first place. Horrible experience and I would never use or recommend to anyone. New 65" TV was smashed, and movers used masking tape to keep furniture doors/drawers closed, ripping of the stain and ruining the pieces. They offered me $80 for the damages. They continue to reiterate that I signed a contract...too bad I signed that contract thinking I was hiring professionals. Watch out for the additional fees.
