I have used this company multiple times for moves over the past decade, but they truly went above and beyond with this last move. When my mother recently needed movers for a last minute, same-day move (long story, which I won't get into here), I assumed there was no way in hell I would be able to find movers on such short notice. Move-Tastic was my first call, given my previous positive experiences with them, and the incredibly helpful woman on the phone, Chloe, said she would check and get back to me. A few minutes later, she called back to confirm that movers would be available that afternoon! The amazing thing is, they didn't even jack up their rates for the last minute move, but charged what appeared to be their typical rates. The move itself went very smoothly. The movers (Fransisco, Jamel, and Chris) were actually able to show up 15 minutes early (less than 3 hours after my initial call!). They finished the move in 2 hours, well under the initial estimate, despite having to deal with a cute, but annoying 4-year old constantly getting in their way and asking them questions. Great moving company! Very helpful and flexible with our move needing to be reschedule due to the shelter-in-place order. Move-Tastic! worked with us and both of our buildings to ensure a safe move. Our crew - Nate, David, and Jose - moved us fast and safely on April 29th. They arrived on-time at 8am and had all of our stuff in the truck before 11am, they then had us completely unpacked and moved in up the street before 12:45pm. All-in-all, they moved us in 1.5 hours ahead of schedule and on the low end of the estimate, and all during a heavy downpour of rain. This included taking apart a king bed and reassembling it and making sure all of our stuff stayed safe and dry. Highly recommend these guys! read more

Lindsey on their office found a crew to load my truck with just a few hours notice. She was helpful and responsive throughout my many phone calls to her. Then movers Thomas and Jackson showed up on time, worked tirelessly on a difficult job (I live on the third floor of a walk-up), and worked several hours over finishing the job. This was the second time we used Move-Tastic - the first for a move, which resulted in some damage that their CEO quickly took care of - and now the second time for packing services. Unfortunately, our experience with their packing service was so terrible that I feel compelled to share it here to warn future customers. We booked a team of three individuals to help us pack primarily our kitchen, bookshelves, and closets on a Sunday. The team leader called to say they were on-time, only to show up 30 minutes late because they struggled to find parking. We lived in the Gold Coast... city parking is always an issue and they should have known to allow time to find parking. They came in, surveyed the work, and we showed them the boxes/tape/kitchen packing kits we had already purchased. They got to work and well, not much happened. It was truly as if it was their first time packing a house. The team leader didn't so much lead as float around. He started to pack the kitchen, so my husband showed him the packing kits (foam sleeves for plates + a insert for glassware). Instead, he opted to individually wrap every single plate, bowl, and piece of glassware. Ugh. We noticed too late. The theme continued when they started using their own boxes and charging us for them. We had 20+ Home Depot boxes stacked in the corner and we kept reminding them to use our boxes first. I'm not sure what was going on with the team leader, but he didn't seem to understand anything we told him. The two other guys on the crew were in desperate need of leadership. They bounced around our house, packing a box here and there, abandoning ship when they came across an item they didn't quite understand. I have a small marble tray (9x5) from CB2 that all three of the packers picked up, asked me "is that marble?" and then set back down in my closet. Huh?? I ended up packing it myself hours later after they left. The theme continued as they made some really questionable decisions about how to pack our items. A box of salt meticulously wrapped in TWO LAYERS of bubble wrap, while glass items were put into a box with paper tossed around them. I'm still reeling from unpacking everything and seeing just how little care they took with our items. After three hours - and what we had been promised would be a three hour job - I asked the team leader to stop. I told him that we'd handle the rest ourselves. I walked through the kitchen and half of it was still in cabinets. We have 11 total cabinets in our kitchen and 8 still had items in them. Some with only a few things that "they weren't sure what to do with". Most troubling was the complete lack of professionalism. One of the packers asked if we had any snacks as he "needed something sweet". Uh, sure? We offered him something and then he opted to eat pickles out of our refrigerator. The same gentlemen opted to leave a few bottles of cranberry juice - kept in a bar area outside of our kitchen - unpacked and on the kitchen counter "in case you want it for breakfast". No, I don't want it for breakfast. You're just being lazy. I have to advise everyone against using Move-tastic for packing services. It was a total waste of money and we ended up having to finish the job ourselves. The team was totally unprofessional, erratic in their behavior, and ignorant as to how to pack a house. read more

These guys are as good as movers can possibly be - and I've moved a lot. From a fair initial quote, to answering a few follow-up questions via email quickly, to the actual move, this was an incredible experience. On moving day itself, they called me to tell me they were on their way, and then showed up on time (in fact, 15 minutes early - that's absolutely a first for me with movers!). The three guys, led by Booker, worked their a$$es off to get us out of the old place and into the new one. And they helped us with disposing of some old furniture at a cost much less than the big junk companies you see ads for. Honestly, I can't recommend Move-Tastic more highly. Hopefully I'm done moving for a long, long time. But if I do have to move I again, I won't think twice about hiring these guys again. read more

My boyfriend and I had a very negative experience with Movetastic recently. It was very unexpected and disappointing, considering their high costs and extremely positive reviews. They did considerable damage to our old apartment (see pictures), including smashing off a light switch, busting a ceiling light, and leaving multiple substantial dents. Whenever they would smash something, there were no apologies or acknowledgements -- they just could not have cared less. They did not move everything that we asked them to move, including my two year old, $1400 couch. They spent over an hour trying to move it out, but ultimately failed, claiming it wasn't possible. This was largely due to them refusing to remove the feet for the first 45 minutes, despite being told to do so from the beginning. I then had to sell the couch on Craigslist the next day at an extreme loss (because it needed to get out ASAP and I was afraid to spend additional money if it wasn't able to be moved). Then, two men from Dolly (compared to 3 men from Movetastic) were able to get the couch out in under half an hour without doing any damage. In addition to the couch, they left random heavy items, such as my ironing board. Since they left the old apartment without notifying us, we were not able to remind them to take these things. Overall, the movers were generally very careless and inefficient. I had some clothes in some of those vacuum sealed bags and for whatever reason, they put moving boxes on top of these bags in the truck, causing a number to bust open. Also, at the new place, they falsely claimed to be locked out (by standing at the wrong door despite having been shown the right door), which resulted in them standing idly for half an hour or so. When the movers were moving stuff, they seemed tired and were huffing and puffing a lot, which didn't exactly result in efficiency. Our bill for the above ended up being $890. This was an exorbitant amount of money to move a 1 bedroom apartment a half mile in distance, especially considering that our one couch didn't get moved. Customer service initially offered a refund equal to 2 hours of labor. Considering the movers spent over an hour on their unsuccessful attempt to move the couch and over a half hour standing idly while falsely claiming to be locked out, this was really money that should have never been charged in the first place. Their final offer left us still paying almost $500 and now I have to buy a new couch. Unacceptable. That is the total cost of what a more competent moving company would have cost. We used Move-tastic twice to move out and move back for the rehab of our home. When we moved out, some of our stuff was put in our garage for storage and some of it was moved to our rental. The movers handled our direction with no problems. When we moved back, our home wasn't ready for us to completely move in so the movers suggested that we keep our tv in the rental box and keep the blankets they wrapped around our furniture until we were ready to unpack and return them for a refund. Move-tastic was quick to respond to all of my questions in prep for the moves and the movers were fast, careful with our stuff, and accommodating of our unique circumstances. I hate to write this update! I've waited almost 2 months to write it to give myself some time to cool off from our horrendous experience. We used Move-Tastic for so many moves. This was my 5th time using them. We had them come the day before the move to pack us out. That went fine. The day of the move, things appeared to be going well. We have a really heavy dresser. My husband specifically told them to take the drawers out. They said "no, we have 5 guys here we'll be fine". They wrapped it up, as is, and tried to get it down our stairs. They spent over an hour on it. Over one hour. They kept saying "there's no way this dresser made it here in one piece it was assembled here". I was fairly sure it came in one piece. I even called the furniture store to ask. They said it comes delivered in one piece. Finally my husband insisted they take the drawers out and try. Lo and behold, they got it down within minutes. Whattya know? Also they bent one of the knobs The move went on into the evening. It was chaos. I had to go pick up my daughter and try to make life for her as normal as possible so there were many things I didn't notice that evening. Over the next several weeks we noticed many things that I'm just wondering what in the world we spent thousands of dollars on. 1) our bassinet stand was put above the garage. Outside. In the elements. Move-Tastic did reimburse me for this. 2) a crock pot with a ceramic insert and glass top was put in a box as is. No wrapping, nothing. Just as is. 3) we had our pantry packed out and they put chips in the BOTTOM of a box. Like, really? 4) boxes were put down ALL OVER the place that were the WRONG place. Boxes that were labeled for the basement in master bedroom, boxes for my daughter's room in the dining room, Etc. 5) the guys left their trash everywhere. Outside in front of our place, on our mantle, on the side of our house. Bottles, tape, etc. I've been in contact with Move-Tastic and they reimbursed us for packing materials that they used during the move which was about $120. That's what they compensated us for all this garbage. They offered to have a senior mover come and move boxes around. But at that point, it's just too little. Too late. I've been very loyal to Move-Tastic. But never again. And I can't even recommend them to friends anymore. read more

I just completed my FOURTH move with movetastic in eleven years. I've also recommended them to at least 5 people who have had great experiences. They are timely, communication is fantastic and they work HARD and quick! My most recent move was a lot of work, and they completed it nearly flawlessly and WAY under the estimated time. A few things did get broken, but that is to be expected. One was a broken lampshade that was simply a drop. One of the guys gave me attitude a couple times, which is why I knocked a star off. Highly recommended! We did our move on a Friday afternoon. While the move did begin later than expected, they advised of this in advance, and the crew communicated well to advise on their arrival. Communication prior to the move was very good too. Responses were very quick from the team on confirming our inventory, where it was stored, the moving permits, etc. We were estimated for a 5-hour move, but Manny and Kelvin got it done around 2, 1 of which was due to Friday afternoon traffic. They were very professional, quick, efficient and careful of our belongings, none of which were affected at all during the move! Most reasonable rates in Chicago from what I've seen as well. Maybe we had an off-day with an off-crew. That's the only explanation I can fathom for our move last week which resulted in a number of damaged items (see photos) and two extra hours being tacked on to our final bill. I'm really disappointed - I expected five-star service based on the many five-star Yelp reviews. The day started on a positive note. The crew arrived 10 minutes early, they had a good amount of hustle in their step. But, toward the end of our move-out, I did see one of the guys shoving our Apple desktop computer into the back of the truck, which was a moment of sheer panic for me. It's a fragile computer that wasn't in a box. Unacceptable. I haven't plugged it in yet to see if it works, I'm hoping it does.... And that's where it all kinda went downhill. We were quoted for a 6-hour move (from the third floor apartment with stairs to a fourth floor apartment with an elevator for boxes and stairs for big items.) It took 8 hours and change, which was a significant increase in cost. This is also after I started helping carry items into the apartment, using the stairs myself, and I'm glad I did otherwise it probably would have been 9 hours instead. We didn't notice the damages to items until we started unpacking and moving things around. My wicker trunk no longer has a handle and has a huge chip out of it on the front (I was never told they lost the handle); one of our dressers is completely destroyed - the sides came off the unit and we had to throw it away; a lamp component was broken and is no longer able to be used; despite being wrapped, an end table was busted up on one corner; our desk must have had pressure put on its points as the top panel separated from the side; and, to top it off, there is a huge gouge in our desk chair. I called the company to discuss these damages and how to proceed. This is where it gets kind of tricky.... our couch wouldn't fit into our entryway when we moved, so, Move-Tastic said they could hoist it to our 4th floor balcony for us that following weekend. It was going to be more than $450 to do this, but they waved the fees due to the damages we incurred. That was really nice - and that's why I'm giving them two stars instead of one. Their customer service was spot-on and I appreciate the waved fees. When the hoist team arrived, they admitted they had never done such a large job and they couldn't guarantee our couch would not incur damages in the process (BECAUSE the team that moved us had noted they left the couch blanketed and wrapped. But, they didn't leave the blankets on the couch, actually, and the hoist team didn't bring any materials to wrap the couch in, so it was exposed on its sides - it did have a thin coating of plastic wrap around its center.) The hoist team was A+ Not only did they eventually get our couch up to the fourth floor with a ton of hard work and sweat, they did it with very minimal damage - there is one tiny tear on the arm of the couch, but nothing to fret over. They were the saving grace of the entire process of moving, and they, alone, deserve 5 stars. This is a tricky review to write. The crew we had on our actual move date were lackluster, slower than I had hoped - took two hours longer than we what were quoted - and damaged way too many items of ours for me to even be slightly happy with their services. But, waving the hoist fees and getting our couch inside our apartment were two major pluses from a customer-service standpoint. Reading the reviews on here, I'm disappointed we didn't get five-star service... so, take it for what you will. Is Move-Tastic! the cream of the crop and we just had a really terrible crew? Amazing!! Let me start by saying I've lived in only one place since I moved here 4 years ago so the thought of moving was terrifying. I reached out to 3 different companies and move-tastic has the lowest rate and the best reviews. From the second I reached out to move-tastic, the service was next level. They confirmed the appointment and stayed in close contact with me leading up to the move date. I felt very comfortable throughout my entire experience. The move: my team was Travis Budd, Kelvin Wadlington, and Fred Allen. They were incredible. I thought I had a lot of stuff- they wrapped and moved everything so efficiently, carefully, and quickly. They then went to another location to pick up my roommates belongings, again she was very impressed with them. We then all met up at our final destination and they were just as careful and quick. They made our moving day so smooth and seamless and that meant everything given the stress that comes with moving. The best part of everything was that the price of our move was $200 less than what we had originally been estimated. I will forever recommend this company and use them for any of my future moves. Excellent experience from online inventory process through complete move! The movers arrived on time and hustled for 7 hours. The 4-man team was careful, friendly, and patient. Move-tastic was the only mover I contacted that recommended 2 trucks for our move, which included delivery and set-up in our new home and a storage unit. Both trucks were full. They completed the job in 7 hours, which was less time than estimated, so the final price was less than the estimate! They accepted payment by credit card, with no up charge baked into their rates to cover the merchant fee. I wholeheartedly recommend Move-Tastic and would use them again in a heartbeat! read more

Rich and I had to basically pack up and move shop to San Antonio. I searched a few different options. Have movers come in and pack us up and drive our stuff down. We pack, they ship. In the end we went with rent a U-Haul, hire movers and Rich and a buddy drive the U-Haul down. Oo reminds me...need to do a U-Haul review. So then came the search of who to have carry our stuff down 3 flights of stairs and load the truck. I searched around the web and in the end Yelp paid off for me/us once again. I came across Move-tastic, read the reviews and decided to put our fate and our stuff in their hands. Rich had email contact with these guys and they were a hoot to deal with. From the funny little comments on their website to the fast replies to emails we had a good feeling about them. Day of the move we get a call from them an hour before they were to arrive saying they could there earlier if we wanted. At that point we were picking up the U-Haul and unloading our storage locker so we decided to have them come just a half an hour early. We drove up to our place with the U-Haul about 25 minutes later and there was Move-tastic! Bright eyed, bushy tailed and ready to go (Seriously, who the heck is this peppy at 8am?). We walked up the 3 flights of stairs and gave them the low down on our stuff and the rest was history. We only hired them for 2 hours so after 2 hours we just had some odds ands stuff to load. Personal items so that was cool. Nothing broke, truck was packed like a Tetris game and we couldn't have been happier. I'm telling you...moving is stressful enough so if you are worried about who to pick on packing up your truck or even doing an entire move I'd say pick Move-tastic. Having just signed my life away with the purchase of my first home/condo, I was a nervous wreck about my move. After meeting these guys and watching them at work, my anxiety quickly dissipated. Graham and his crew were very skillful, handling every piece of furniture like the Crown Jewels. With the exception of my Pottery Barn coffee table, everything else is the assemble-it-yourself furniture. It was a relief that they took special care with each item. They were also very personable and professional which made the stressful experience of a move more pleasant. The 4-person team showed up on time and 7-hours later, of very hard work, they finished. The result was absolutely perfect. I used Move-tastic because I had a friend who recommended them (said they literally ran with her stuff) and because of the great Yelp reviews. I decided to go through the inconvenience of renting and driving a UHaul myself because I thought it would be worth the hassle to have these speedy movers (they are NOT currently licensed to drive a truck for you, so you will have to rent). The move did not go well. Like another low-rating reviewer, I only had a block to move. The movers were supposed to come early to help me wrap my furniture. They not only did not come early, they showed up nearly an hour after my scheduled move time with the building. They brought some shrink wrap which I ended up using to wrap the furniture myself. I have a one bedroom apartment, so I was told by the scheduler to get a 17' truck. They made it clear they thought that would be a problem and would not be big enough--ultimately they had to use a van owned by one of the movers. They noted they normally charge for this, but didn't. Considering I got the truck size I was told and they showed up too late to make a second trip possible, (plus they charge you $20 for the movers to get to your location), I think that's only fair. They also brought in a fourth person (!) to get me out of the apartment in time to account for them showing up late, which I had to pay for of course. It took them forever to load the truck, (not the 'running' I expected). Fortunately, I got out of my building in time so I did not lose the freight elevator deposit and they were quicker unloading the truck at the new location. Having said that, I definitely did not expect a move one block to take over SIX hours with FOUR men (not to mention the assistance of me and a friend). Add to those costs the money I spent at UHaul for truck, dollies, and furniture padding rental, and it was not worth it. Even more frustrating, my white couch which I needed assistance in wrapping so it would be protected, was stood up in the loading bay on its side in a puddle of dirty water, which of course left a nice stain. read more

Move-tastic did a great job getting my fiancée and I out of our old apartment and into our new condo! They were early for our appointment and worked very efficiently getting our furniture wrapped and into/off of the truck. The truck was huge and had plenty of room for all of our stuff. The movers were friendly and professional. A leg on one of our chairs was broken, but the team leader took photos on his ipad and said if we emailed the company, they would either fix it or pay for it. It was cool that he pointed it out right away and took care of it. We were quoted at 5 hours and they were done in less than 3 hours! Overall, great experience. Overall was happy with the process but they lost two bags and part of my streamer somehow got lost in the process. Now that I've officially cleaned up my old place and unpacked all my items I wanted to submit my feedback on Move-tastic. When requesting a quote and scheduling they where very responsive and they had fair rates. Day of they were timely, polite, and efficient (beating my estimate by nearly 2 hours). My only compliant is two of my smaller duffel bags never made it to the house and after calling to see if they got left on the truck the answer was no. They were smaller and less sturdy than most of my items so I'm not overly surprised, but I've had multiple professional moves and this is the only time an item has been lost. A part of my steamer is also mysteriously missing. They were apologetic and communicated well, but made no real effort to makes amends. The items weren't overly expensive, but will likely cost a few hundred to replace and some were sentimental. Edit: A little over a week after my move my missing items were found at the house my movers went to after mine and Move-tactic quickly coordinated a time to drop them off. read more

They were great problem solvers with more difficult pieces but showed everything I owned great care as they moved me into my new apartment! Our move with them ended up being ridiculously expensive and stressful because they brought a small truck regardless of our estimate being updated and approved by their staff on the day of the move. The amateur crew had no clue how to judge what should go first even though we kept asking them what was best. Acted cool like everything was fine til they started saying we were running out of space. They saved our bedroom furniture and largest furniture pieces for last and ACTUALLY RAN OUT OF SPACE!! They also locked themselves out of their truck for several hours and were attending to that - yet we still got charged for the hours. Didn't even offer us to book again and we had to suggest that we would call the office next day or look for other companies because literally half our stuff was still at the apt we were moving from. They get 2 stars because they arranged a new more skilled crew who got it finished day two, but if they hadn't been packing up with a bunch of clothing bags and smaller items we could've taken ourselves in car trips, day 2 wouldn't have been needed. Also broke a couple furniture pieces. Elyse communicated understanding initially and agreed some remedy would've been appropriate but then didn't provide anything other than the second crew. So our move was about $2,400 - way past the estimate. Movers were friendly but this was way more stressful than it needed to be - and with an active infant to boot! SUPERB. SERVICE. This was my third time using them (why fix what isn't broke) and A+ service, professionalism, and customer service. I was moving the equivalent of a one-bedroom home from Humboldt Park to O'Hare area. They are so good about communication and being up front and organized about what needs to be done, materials needed, amount of movers, etc. from the beginning. The guys were on time (actually 10 mins. early!),called me ahead of time to confirm who was coming out, created a game plan, started immediately (no dilly-dallying or farting around), methodically got my stuff into the truck, and swiftly and carefully unloaded at my new location. Every mover I have had is so polite and professional. I am always very comfortable with them handling my stuff and being in my home. They even dis-assemble and re-assemble together which alone to me is worth the price! There was one snafu when a large dresser being carried down a very narrow, old Chicago staircase knicked the wall and MT handled it promptly and professionally! They asked if I preferred a contractor, I said I did not, so they sent their own guy out who called me right away to set up a time and was also very professional and polite. Everyone that works here is just super and on top of their ish and I so appreciate that. Any time I needed to make a change or confirm something they wrote back to me within the hour. Moving day can be hectic and I am a Virgo so I need everything in order an planned out accordingly so this company is perfect for me. Worth every single penny people. Overall these guys were great! They were quick and they hustled and came in an hour under. Very friendly and hard workers. Put my bed frame together for me and took care to not loose any of my small cabinet inserts. They had to unscrew my couch legs and one would not screw back in... I do not believe they did anything to the couch but unfourtinalty it was not fixed. Nate, Karl and Jose were great. read more

Nearly seven years to date since my last move, I used Move-tastic this weekend for a one bedroom move on the third floor to a top floor place. Had a three man crew (to start) led by Julius. Added a fourth man at hour five of the move to help with navigating all of the stairs. This was not an easy move - stairs going down the old place and plenty more stairs going up at the new place. Was estimated 5 hours for the move, but ultimately took 7 hours. These guys handled our stuff and the move with grace and a good sense of humor. Quite frankly, I was tired for them and was feeling pretty bad about the length of the move; however, they were rock stars. I'd hire them again although I don't plan on moving anytime soon. :) Thanks team! read more

Amazing experience and would highly recommend to anyone looking for a very reliable and organized moving company. Slightly pricey but worth every penny! The original quote was for 5 hours for a 2 bed/2 bath from Lakeview to Ravenswood, but it only took 4 hours, which was great as they only charge you for the actual time. None of our furniture was damaged and they worked with extra care, as it was their own house. I would definitely use them again! read more

Just had my second move with Move-Tastic and I would choose them every time. Thorough estimating process, flexible and good communication re needed date changes (my error, not theirs), and movers both times have done everything they could on-site to move the job along quickly (arriving early, not taking 15 minutes to get up the elevator as some have done in the past). I wound up paying less than the estimate in one case, and in the other estimate it was within 15 minutes of the estimated time. Kadoe and Dylan communicated well with me and got it all right despite my insane [dis] organization of the donate vs. move vs "just pick this up and leave it downstairs" piles in a small space. read more
